Lulu

This is probably one of the most “girly” core scents from Olfactory. I’ve done their create your own perfume experience a couple of times and never chose Lulu as my base, but I do like it. It’s a pretty, soft fragrance and very inoffensive. This is important for me since I get migraines, and it did not trigger one at all. That said, it’s not especially unique, which makes sense because it’s meant to be a core scent that you build on with other accords. For that purpose, it works really well. Not every perfume needs to be beast mode nor the most unique thing ever. Lulu is warm, soft and it feels like a hug. I don’t agree with the comparisons to La Vie Est Belle or Candy. I can understand why some people think it’s similar to Prada Candy, since both are powdery and have that makeup-like vibe, but that’s where the similarity ends for me. Out of all the core bases I’ve tried so far, this one feels like the least long-lasting. At first, I couldn’t pick up any tonka bean, but after a couple of hours it comes through and it’s really lovely. It’s just a shame the projection and longevity aren’t stronger. Overall, I really appreciate Olfactory NYC. Their fragrances are great quality, and I love that you can buy the core scents on their own. At $55 for 50 ml, it’s a great value (it's $85 if you want to create your own scent).

I found most of the Olfactory NYC base scents to be pretty palatable, but I was going for something light and picked this. It's a very inoffensive powdery musk with a little bit of warmth and smoothness from the tonka. Went through the process and ended up with Lulu + their Cherry / Pear Pulp / Vetiver accord. I do wish they had a little more customization in notes rather than base + single accord, but I'm happy with my choice. I really appreciate that you are not obligated to purchase any of the scents in the end, if you don't find one you like. Service at the Atlanta location was also really good!
