Maharloo

In an upland of Iran, there is Maharloo Lake. The color of the lake's waters is a bright pink, but can change to orange or even red. I'm always surprised by how beautiful and unusual nature can be. The wonderful colors of these waters are represented by the notes chosen for this fragrance, where cherry dominates, which I would define as more black cherry, which after a while calms down its sweetness and its strong aroma to give space to cinnamon, plum and a hint of liquorice which makes it strong, dry and spicy. Really very pleasant, I find it very original in interpretation and with masterful evolution. I got it and I like it. Its a spicy cherry. In the air its mostly cherry then benzoin. It seems strong-ish when you spray it. Edit: It lasts and I got a compliment. Good quality too. Edit # 2 : After it macerates the licorice really comes out, its still nice.

I bought a sample of this and liked it so much I went ahead and ordered a full bottle. The opening cherry does give a similar vibe to Tom Ford's Lost Cherry. To me though, the cherry blossom comes forward and I can really smell the floral vibing with the cherry note. I agree with the comment below about the cherry smelling like a black cherry. To me it's almost giving a photo realistic black cherry. I sprayed both LC and Maharloo on paper strips and the Maharloo is def stronger. I think there is more cinnamon in Maharloo than LC making it a tad bit spicier. I also sprayed both on each hand, and LC has that sour cherry that comes forward on my skin while with Maharloo, I get more of the floral note, cinnamon and licorice. They are however very similar, but to me have enough difference that I feel a collector would appreciate owning both. You def have to appreciate cherry because this is pretty bold. After the complete dry down, unlike LC which turns to a skinscent, Maharloo stays strong. Though after awhile the cherry minimizes and the mid and base notes become the primary focus. EDIT (12/18): I wanted to add that after it sitting for a little over a week, the Benzoin and Licorice have become very prominent. It's kind of spicy, and almost has a medicinal quality about it. I still like it, but it went in a different direction than expected. I am still curious how well it will do in the Spring with the cherry blossom note, but for now, the final dry down comes off more spicy than cherry/floral.

I’m getting cherry whafts in the air resembling LC, but Maharloo has it’s own vibe. It somehow smells more ‘perfumey’. Similar to Amouage Blossom Love. First spray is sweet, juicy cherries. In the drydown I’m getting cherry on suede. It’s mature. And definitely for winther.

I write exceptionally short reviews about this house. This seems to be one of the best constructed perfumes from this house and the reason for that is the cherry note being always either synthetic or made of Heliotrope and Almond. When the case is a latter one, Cherry lasts longer and it gives very authentic Amaretto vibes which is not a case here. Cherry is not cloying but the scent itself is very strong and everyone will notice you. This is all about imitating Cherry, I don't detect Plum or other notes easily. Like with all very synthetic scents the less is more, otherwise it makes a headache for you and for people around you. This scent easily attracts you during the first few minutes so you have to be patient and wear it properly to make sure that you like it until the end and you can wear it. The scent is somewhat linear so not because of that but you have to feel comfortable with despite of the intensity. I don't consider this a gourmand, but a fruity scent. And it's worth mentioning that I like few clearly cherry scents. Usually cherry is always made of Heliotrope and almond, if I like it and it has to be more complex. I don't like "Lost Cherry | Tom Ford" on its own, for example, but layered with “Italica | Xerjoff" it's good. Also "Wrap Me in Dreams | Haute Fragrance Company" is too boring, although the quality is good. Some gorgeous scents with cherry kind of aroma are "Empire des Indes | Oriza L. Legrand" , "Ambre Rubis | Houbigant" , "Sirène | Fragrance Du Bois" , "Harrods pour Femme | Roja Parfums" , "Delphinus | Creed" , “Jump Up and Kiss Me Hedonistic | Clive Christian”, “Bloody Wood | Liquides Imaqinaires” and “Amouage | Blossom Love. Have not yet tried on skin, but on clothes, it smells like mildew with a hint of cherry

A fragrance that immediately focuses on a soft, enveloping presence, with a sweetness that is clearly noticeable yet never excessive. The opening is warm, slightly fruity, and creamy. There’s a rounded, almost velvety quality that gives a full sensation without feeling heavy. It’s not an intrusive sweetness, but a well-controlled, diffused softness. As it develops, it settles and gains more depth. The sweetness blends into a warmer base, lightly ambered and musky, which makes the fragrance more cohesive and continuous. The evolution remains linear, yet consistently pleasant. The sillage is noticeable, without becoming overwhelming. On my skin, longevity is very good—over seven hours—with a more pronounced opening that gradually settles closer to the skin. The character is sensual and smooth, with a distinctly feminine signature. It’s a well-crafted, high-quality fragrance, but clearly more interesting on feminine skin, where it can fully express its nuances. It’s best suited for cooler seasons and evening settings, where its warmer facets can emerge without becoming too much. This is not a fragrance that aims for complexity. It works through balance and skin performance. And when it finds that balance—it stands out in the best possible way.

The cherry cinnamon spiced opening of Maharloo is quite simply exceptional. Think Lost Cherry but add cherry blossoms! LC doesn’t last past an hour on me, but Maharloo is a beast of a scent. Even without heavy spraying it lasted half a day on my skin with decent sillage. The price point is fairly inexpensive especially if you compare it to the outrageous price being charged for the poor performing LC. This one should be in every cherry lover’s collection.
