Chemical Love

I’ve had this sample for months and didn’t try it because the description just didn’t sound like my cup of tea. Boy was I mistaken! Chemical Love was created by Luca Maffei who also did one of my favorite fragrances of 2017, Savannah’s Heart, also by Olibere. He seems to have a true knack for making contrasting notes work somehow, which is a real skill. Very often far too differing note combinations can clash and smell “busy” or unbalanced. Not here. In Chemical Love he combines sweet, bitter and metallic, giving an almost dizzying narcotic effect, booze like, even nefarious. Something about it feels forbidden and glamorous, in a flashy way, like an environment that mom wouldn’t approve of at all. It’s quite remarkable. It dries down to something almost gourmandish, with the sweetness of the Bailey’s Irish Cream combined with vanilla and ylang ylang taking over. It’s perfectly balanced, not too sweet, and even with the electrifying opening it still feels controlled and balanced.

Bonjour... Après l avoir senti,... la déception. Une tasse chocolat chaud à l eau 💦 !!!Et puis, le miracle a eu lieu, légèrement différent du bailey's mais si addictif. ...je ne peux plus m en passer. Je l ai, je le garde. Si bon et si puissant, inoubliable,... Et devant tous ces concurrents. Mais Attention !!! Une pulvérisation de trop et attendez-vous à des heures détestables et écœurantes. Comme un flan aux œufs, on dévore, on se gave et après... On regrette. Avec une fraîcheur en fond, il aurait été parfait (pour moi). Troisième jour... Il est toujours sur ma manche. 👍

It is some sort of reinvented Dior Addict. A very well blended notes that gives you addiction. Creamy and vanillic.

Ohh Gosh this one is unik and so lovely . Sprayed this one last night for the first time and had a big smile on my face right away . Lasted well into the morning (testing again this morning , boy i crave this stuff ) The tart opening with wormwood elemi and bitter orange . wow.. so unike . makes me think of Rhubarb tartnes in away ,but not quit, slightly metalic too.but not at all unpleasent just adds to the tartnes . Then the baileys and flowers kicks in . still tart but turning more gourmand ,but the orange flowers and ylang lifts it up so its not to sweet . indeed intoxicating and seductiv and a bit badass realy. Too me this is more of Girl then unisex scent . But thats just how it turns out on my skin . I would love to smell it on a man too see how it differs . This is my first testing from this house .but sure wont be the last . Lovely unik and straight to my want list .

Very strong ylang note with some strange (licorice) freshness. Also I can get some sour and spicy notes, but can’t really distinguish them. In general it’s a strange combination... I don’t feel any vanilla or Baileys notes from it. For me it’s not sweet (or creamy) at all. Reminds me a bit of some Tiziana perfumes. Follow me on IG: scent.guide

I can not smell anything other than citrus. I was so excited for the baileys cream but I was so disappointed. I expected at least a little hint. This is what it smells like: Lemon, orange, cinnamon and metal. Apparently it has cocaine notes. 0/10

Chemical Love opens on the skin with a fantastically dizzying blend of bitter, sweet, herbal and sharp metallic accents as bitter orange, davana and elemi are combined with a cocaine accord. The opening is really unlike anything I have smelt before, and honestly I wasn’t sure how I felt about it. But, give the fragrance time and this chaotic opening settles to reveal beautifully rich gourmand bliss. As the fragrances evolves florals are offset by creamy booziness as ylang-ylang, orange blossom and a wickedly indulgent baileys accord add interesting dimension to that metallic opening. Moving even further into the dry-down and the fragrance moves into sweet powdery territory as sandalwood, vanilla and musks ground the fragrance until it softly fades out on the skin. Chemical love is intoxicating, sumptuous and entirely addictive. I’m not the biggest fan of gourmands as I find their overdosed sweetness nauseating, but Chemical love is the exception. Those bitter-metallic accents that hang around throughout the life of the fragrance so perfectly offset the offset the sweetness of the other notes preventing the fragrances from ever becoming cloying. I could see myself reaching for this whenever I’m in the mood for something entirely hedonistic. At an extrait de parfum concentration, performance is phenomenal. I get all day longevity with a moderate sillage, that drops closer to the skin around the 5 hour mark. Chemical love is entirely unisex, and is perfectly suited to the cooler months although I could see this shinning on a warm summer evening with the heat giving a greater degree of separation to the notes. If you’re a lover of gourmands this is a must, and if you find yourself avoiding gourmands (like myself) for fear of cloying sweetness I definitely recommend trying this fragrance out. "first you get the money, then you get the perfume with power, and then you get the pussy!" not the exact words of Tony Montana but I am pretty close! Olibere Parfums is a French perfume house that gets the Inspiration for their perfumes from movies. And Chemical Love is inspired by the cult classic Scarface! Its opens up with a strong floral note combined with a sharpness from the eleni, wormwood and the bittetness of orange. While the patchouli and labdanum are listed as base note, they are only picked up by my nose in the opening of the scent. The sassy opening turns into the best part of the perfume, the dry down. Here we can smell the delicious creamy Baileys note combined with vanille, sandalwood and the sweet floral Ylang Ylang. The white floral tone is still dominant all over the fragrance as the white cocaine is dominant troughout the movie 😁. And finally it becomes a powdery (this is just too easy...) scent. What I get from this scent is that it is not inspired by the movie in its total, or inspired by Mr Scarface Montana himself, but that it is inspired by Elvira (Michelle Pfeiffer). From start to finish... The sassy and sharp opening, just like how she was against Tony Montana in the dance scene. Then the seductive sweet part. And troughout the scent and movie the dominance and dependance of the white stuff (florals/coke). Finishing off with an overdose of powder. Its a feminine oriented seductive fragrance and executed very unique and creative!

Unlike two others from this line, C L wasn't for me. It's definitely a smelled before, and hints to many gourmand perfume, despite the rather original ingredients list. It's not sugary, or fruity, but more like "creamy" sweet. Take my review with a grain of salt, as I'm so not into gourmands, and don't own any scent in this category(well, maybe Fat Electrician, to some extent)

I totally agree with Christanne1. This scent is just amazing and it is something special with it whiich makes it feel like I’m doing something dangerous or forbidden. It dries down to Something smooth but still intoxicating and boozy! Wonderful! Well done Olibere👍🏼👏🏻
