Dangerous Rose

This perfume was a blindbuy and wow, for me it does deliver. It starts boozy and rich like a deep red wine somehow. I definitely see how it was made with Interview with the Vampire in mind and as Anne Rice is one of my favourite writers I had to try this eventually. There's something hidden in the background, a sort of woody note I haven't encountered yet, a bit dusty and strangely alluring. Like an old house long left untouched or a dusty attic where a vampire might be hiding. And of course there is an opulent -to me- dark red rose I have a lot of roses in my collection -some also combined with Oud- but this one manages to be different. The Oud is not the intruding kind, it contributes to the richness of the perfume. Try for yourself, it has a story to tell and that is what perfume is supposed to do. Lestat and Louis would approve and wear this themselves I guess ;0)

Not the biggest fan of this one. It's pretty decent but there's a note on my skin that's present from the start that is not appealing to me. You do get rose, definitely tons of patchouli on my skin and some animalic background. It might be the passion fruit accord that ruins it for me.

Chopped wood. I get fresh chopped wood, a turpentine like aroma, even tar aspects. Rose - no? Stays very close to the skin.

Dangerous rose doesn't bring anything new to the table, but in isolation it's a splendid composition which comprises of rose and cinnamon as dominant players to my nose. I would categorise this as a spicy rose as right from th top one can feel a heavy dose of overwhelming spice, but don't get to wrong as the spices are so well balanced that it won't offend in anyway. There is a touch of fruity and juicy aspects for some 10-15 minutes after spray which I think is because of passion fruit. Soon after the pink and powdery rose starts to emerge with that beautiful cinnamon note and that stays for quite a long time. At the end of its life I can sense a hint of patchouli, musk and some smokey aspects and it does remain like that for the rest of the time. The staying power is superb and projection is splendid. Overall it leans a bit feminine but perfectly wearable for either gender. Suitable for special occasion or date etc as I don't think this might smell suitable causally or in office. Very good balanced composition but nothing dangerous or daring about it. 7.5/10

This is so up my street. Possibly my favourite of this line so far - very woodsy, very resinous, the styrax and benzoin shine a lot, adore these two notes. So do the cinnamon and cardamon, also two of my favourites. You also do get a tart twist of rose, and the oud is not too dominant. I'm going to wait for the drydown, but this is absolutely fabulous and it's going straight on my best of resinous rose shelf - not many make it on that shelf! Potential candidate for a buy even?
