Escapade a Byzance

The below review is incredibly incorrect - this far from a clone of a Tauer fragrance, entirely different. In a fantastic way. L'air & Au Couer were dusty, heavily powdery incense scents, both centred in the middle of the desert with no shelter in sight. You went there in a car during the sunset and danced around. This is a sheltered scent, incense is obviously still present but this time you're inside. There's linen curtains billowing in the cold evening wind, you've just had a hot bath and your body smells of rose soap and sandalwood oil. Saffron, cypress and thyme easily make this an entirely different scent, also. There's nothing too similar about them, except that they give the feeling of Morocco. (or, really, any middle eastern desert)

Nose Note #564 Kind of a typical cinnamon-clove-benzoin fragrance. It has a lot going on, it evolves nicely, it's diverse. But it's honestly not very special. Many myrrh fragrances are similar, Dior Bois d'Argent, for example, or Jo Malone Myrrh & Tonka. Nice performance and all, but it's not very memorable. Nice ambery smell, mildly sweet, not a lot of incense, as for spices - mostly clove and cinnamon. Clogs up your nose pretty fast and you can go nose-blind to it. 7.2/10, not bad, but generic in it's own line

I recently tried this fragrance for the first time and was pleasantly surprised. Extremely fine and balanced formulation. The fragrance opens with a beautiful mix of pepper, cinnamon, thyme and spices, while later on patchouli and amber incense are revealed, but all this balanced and unobtrusive. Longevity is excellent, and the projection is not offensive or heavy. This fragrance has definitely become one of my favorites. Recommendation for blind buy too.

I meet Marjorie Olibere in Esxence 2016 and she was quite a respectful artist, and as far as i know she is a movie star or maybe worked in showbiz business! while quite honestly she looked like a movie star quality with that beautiful face, sexy figure, and great personality. Now, i remember Escapade a Byzance was the main one that captured my attention from the whole line although i went through them quite fast but now i am retesting them again beginning with escapade as i truly can smell all of the notes listed above beginning with cinnamon, incense, saffron, pepper, then slight benzoin, & thyme with some citrus to sour up the blend. It feels like a debage bedding made of cinnamon and incense, & when you squeeze it the golden dust spreads in the air gently and fill the room. It is like sniffing cotton clothes soaked with incense and cinnamon. Quite good to be honest and needs to be tested more. Edit (25th Aug 2016) Now i can sense some Iris in this juice, that remains around seconds and vanishes within the saffron & the cinnamon effects. It's quite interesting for a while but there is something i can't really relate too! something that disturbs me! maybe it's the thyme or the pepper. Edit (11th Oct 2019) Wow.. it's cinnamon, amber, and thyme! at first i thought it was the clove that busts in but it turned to be the thyme which made me think that it's incense but it's not. It is the sweet ambery thyme. The saffron, the elemi, cloves, & heliotrope are truly there and they are lightening the blend with a soft sweetness rather than to be the overly sweet common amber boring blend. Quite weird and overwhelming. It won't be defined as herbal for those who aren't familiar with thyme (like i was 4 years ago) as they will think it's sweet amber. Incredibly alluring.

Possibly the best from the Olibere range. Once the initial super-sweet vanilla calms down, it’s actually quite a beautiful soapy spice scent. It’s not to smoky, so don’t be scared that it’s going to be an overpowering Arabian style scent. Nor is it too gourmand, everything is nicely balanced. Benzoin, amber and patchouli are becoming my perfect trio.

I love all of these notes this is very up my alley. Spicy, ambery, warm and comforting but interesting as it takes you to another country. Love it. It is a little powdery dusty, quite sweet, if I didn't have a shelf full of oriental spice perfumes I would buy this.

#1587 in my "Tour de Fragrance" My first Olibere Parfums scent, a $4.99 decant from scentsplit.com. Retails for $125 and up. My first reaction was "cinnamon tea" with an undertone that reminds me of mate. It's not sweet. Lots of cinnamon, ginger, clove, vanilla. At first I thought it was just too feminine for my taste, but as I catalogued the scents they wear the women I know tend to go for something fruiter and more floral like Vertus "1001" or Tiziana Tirenzi "Velorum." This has a nice enough opening, but the longer I smell it the faster I grow tired of it. The projection is good, as is the longevity, and as it develops it makes a better impression at arm's length than at intimate range, which is how I often react to strong clove notes that tend to be most noticeable on the skin. But this one's not for me, and I won't be giving it to anyone I want to get close to. I'm a straight up Earl Grey tea drinker and this comes off like Bigelow "Cinnamon Stick."

Opening is really unpleasant, heavy dose of black pepper and other spices. Dries down to a warm spicy, smoky, ambery & resinous scent. I personally dont like it.

Initially, it is very spicy because of the pepper, and also a curry-like note. But, once spices are gone, comes light resemblance with Velvet Teddy by MAC. Unisex and formal, but suits men better. Mulled wine with cloves in the perfume bottle. Speaking of the bottle, it is nicely presented, but the cap is of very poor quality, which is not a good thing if you are buying this as a present. Oriental, though not in Arabian, rose-oud way, this is a Turkish oriental, or rather a vision of modern Istanbul with old bazaars. Dry tobacco note in the middle would be my favorite part. At the very end, spices will emerge again and I now feel strong vetiver here. Dry down leans to masculine...Overall, lacks a bit of sweetness, maybe honey.

For me, the saffron and black pepper and incense stands out on my skin. Escapade à Byzance is sweet and warm without being overwhelming; a lovely oriental fragrance that makes me bring my arm up every so often to enjoy a closer smell. The spillage isn'the too strong for me, somewhere between weak and moderate. I sprayed four times with three on three the arms and once on three hems hehe leave, and unfortunately, the longevity was around 2 hrs or so with the barest of a skin scent lingering by the end of the second hour. Would recommend to at least test out if possible.

This fragrance is inspired by this film, wanting us to savor the oriental aromas, the ritual and the emotion of travel. A peppery, spicy and slightly incensed fragrance, this is what I perceive on my skin. Very fresh, sparkling, invigorating, I like it but I saw some similarities with Piper Nigrum by Villoresi. Definitely for the warmer seasons. Excellent sillage and persistence.

Profumo "cuoiato dorato". La combinazione cuoio/arancia/ginger/cedro, cosparsa di cannella e vaniglia, crea un profumo dolce esperidato, assai simile a Aziyade PdE e a Dzhari Phaedon. Fragranze fruttate, morbide, riscaldate da spezie essiccate al sole e da resine e incensi chiari, non smoky. Questo profumo mantiene una gradevole compostezza, un'armonia ordinata, un'eleganza bon ton. Un profumo da tailleur di lino bianco. Bello anche se non originalissimo.
