Carosello

This would've been a fabulous New Year's perfume, as it smells like clean, sweet incense and champange! It's very upbeat, somehow both outdoorsy and celebratory. I don't know what melange of florals are used, but it smells a little like palmarosa to me. Youthful and fresh. The greens are lovely, and not bitter or cold, but they provide some balance. I don't even know what it is...but I'm beginning to catch a common undertone to Ellen's fragrances, there's usually this *base smell* that they contain, like a signature, and it's cleanly earthy, like an essential oil still. I don't get any nutmeg at all in here, but the resinous tones have some spice and depth. This has moderately strong projection and longevity, although I wouldn't say it's "beastly" (I love this, and wouldn't care if it was). I cannot envision a particular or orderly person adopting this as a favorite or signature scent...I simply cannot. This is delightfully upbeat, but very quirky and free-spirited. It's white Doc Marten sandals and a maxi dress on a weekend. It's craft fairs and indie folk. It's joyously scattered, and a tad funky. A perfect little mess. 🍾☀️

Finally a real wine/grape perfume. It smells like cloudy nature wine (minus the alcohol) you just opened mixed with some abstract florals dominated by spiced geranium. The wine scent is so realistic you wonder how they managed to create that one. Imagine yourself drinking a glass of wine near geranium flower pots in the nineties during an unusually hot Summer. It's cheerful and uplifting while being complex and utterly unique. I adore the idea behind that one. The description on the official Olympic Orchids website is photo-realistic just like the perfume. Another artistic creation from Olympic Orchids. So far this one is my favourite from the house. Longevity is great. On clothes it smells the entire day. On skin a couple of hours, hair several hours. And on top of that it's not expensive .... Shipping is US only though. Shipping to Canada is still possible. Edit : it performs really well during an hot and humid Summer.

Another winner from Olympic Orchids. A juicy slightly gourmand for grown-ups where the Muscato wine is the star of the show. It has the most original yet delightful vibe, wearing it is like taking a shot of joy. The idea behind this scent is gorgeous as well. So far, I haven’t tried a single perfume from this brand that I haven’t admired and I’m a perfume nutter. Well done for keeping the prices fair in a world saturated with overpriced mediocre luxury scents! Masterwork!

best grape I've smelled this far, not your everyday supermarket grape. reminds me of those delicious and expensive small table grapes. I get some soil accord wafting in after the grape blast and it will evolve into a symphony of notes that I can't describe as anything other than magical. It's a tame soil being mixed in with the sweetness of grapes and notes that balance it. Terrific longevity and sillage.

The instant I smelled the dabber, I got images of muscat grapes. Not the real fruit, but the Asian candy and scent interpretation of these grapes. I’ve been wanting to smell it in a perfume and I guess I don’t have to look further! Definitely a like, maybe travel size worthy?

Fragrance newbie here. I wanted to love this. I love it. It also makes me sick. I WILL wear it again. As someone else said, this does not smell like chilled white wine. This smells exactly like warm wine; the glass you left two sips in, found and sniffed at the end of the party, and poured out because it was stale and warm. The scent itself pleases my brain. I sense some of the florals. It's linear, but not basic. Balanced. However as with several of the OO scents I sampled, this has that "rotting fruit" vibe to it that turns my stomach... But that I keep coming back to sniff again and again. I tested this before bed, and woke up with some still there. I applied again before work, and all day I had this warm wine smell around me that I loved, but that also made me sick. I had to scrub it at lunch time. I do not want to smell like stale wine, but something about this makes me want to put it on again. ???????/10. A mystery.

I didn’t order this in my sample set but it was sent as a replacement for one that seems to be discontinued. When I initially tested this on paper it was an immediate dislike but I’m glad I kept it around to test on my skin because it is COMPLETELY different from the initial test. First wiff reminded me of an empty perfume bottle in an antique store, but immediately blossomed into what I imagine that bottle being filled with back in its day would smell like. Absolutely gorgeous floral that is very well balanced with wine and the earthy/woody base that seems to linger in all of Ellen’s fragrances that I’ve tried so far. Not a floral bomb but a mature feminine floral power scent. This definitely took me by surprise as the paper test gave me sickeningly sweet fruit-flavored alcohol which I can’t smell any of on my skin. Definitely worth a test at the very least.

I get a burst of floral wine. As it's floral, grape, and uplifting, this fragrance is reminiscent of white wine, but it's not chilled like a white wine. Carosello feels warmer and subtly woody, not picking up cedar in particular though. There's greenness, but it's not bitter like a green wine. A little sour but the sour is hugged by a lot of sweetness. It's effervescent especially in the opening like carbonated wine or grape soda. It's not cloying, but it's let loose. Another reviewer mentioned Moscato wine. I haven't tasted Moscato, but reading the description of Moscota online (floral, fruity, grape aroma, maybe a little sour but definitively sweet, enjoyed bubbly), that might be spot on.

fairy-tale, lush, fruity madness. reminds me of alice in wonderland, or any other fantastical kids movie... or maybe even coraline. grapes, grape juice, wine, but missing the alcohol. bordering on cloyingly sweet but saved by its innate tartness... beautiful cozy warm uplifting scent. imagine sitting in a garden on a very sticky, hot summer day, drinking strangely non-alcoholic and very sweet white wine, youre in the shade, but youre actually a dryad or a wood nymph and the garden is twinkling and magical and bustling; a weird green lizard-kitten is rubbing against your leg and youre petting it... that is how this fragrance feels like to me

I think the white wine and geranium notes combined with benzoin is giving Carosello a fruity, incense feel. It’s fun but a bit of an oddball; Carosello clearly posses an alternative vibe, far from being a mainstream scent. I’m also picking up an effervescent grape soda. This reminds me of my college days in Bellingham, Washington, smelling like the hippie book stores I used to frequent back in the mid 1980s; florals and incense, mixed with coffee shop / book store food.

321 Smells like wine with purple flowers(lilac?). I like it a lot, it’s very unique. Opening is so harsh for a moment, almost like varnish or paint remover gassing off or a punch of high proof spirits in your face with flowers and wine. If you’re looking for a good lasting wine note with flowers, this is one of them. 8/10-wine and flowers, long lasting

A green, floral, effervescent champagne. Given the champagne feel it is appropriately quite upbeat and celebratory. Quite an oddball scent, definitely for a free-spirit 7/10

I fell in love with Olympic Orchids and ordered samples of about 95% of her scents but was not expecting to like this one. I'm normally a woody/spicy type who occasionally wanders into the green or amber realm. I definitely don't usually like fruity scents, but this is a real banger. I imagine a really fun summer night out with a love interest. I can actually picture being at a carnival, eating popcorn and winning stuffed animals or goldfish. It smells more fruity but after reading reviews I can sense the floral notes as well. I really just think it smells like fun. Innocent fun. It's vintage but not at all grandma. I got it in September and it's now December and even though I definitely think it's more of a summer scent, it's really uplifting in the fall/winter.

I hated this the second I put it on, but I decided to give it a chance because Olympic Orchids fragrances usually come in hot and quickly tone down to something beautiful. I'm so glad I waited it out! After the initial floral blast, this smells like red wine, lilacs, geranium, and warmth. It's interesting because it isn't an especially woody or spicy warmth. It just smells like...warm. It doesn't make any sense that I like this because I'm not usually into fruity or floral scents, but this is so well blended and such a nice concept that I have become slightly obsessed. I think this is going to end up being the one floral with a permanent spot in my collection.

This smells just like a gummy candy! It’s strange I can almost smell the powdery coating that keeps them from sticking together. If I squint it could smell like a sweet sparkling wine, an especially fruity-floral moscato, but really it’s giving sweet children’s candy. It’s cute.

I think that Ellen Covey captures wine perfectly. It's so uplifting! 💯 love for me.
