Oud Aquilaria

Oud Aquilaria by Oman Luxury is a rich, refined take on oud that feels deliberate and grown-up rather than loud. The opening gives you a crisp apple note, but it’s quickly grounded by a deep, resinous oud, wrapped in warm amber and a soft smoky woods accord. The apple is subtle and polished — not sweet or playful — acting more as a contrast to the darkness of the oud rather than the star of the show. This is strictly cold-weather territory. It shines in autumn and winter, where the warmth and density really come alive; in heat it would feel heavy and overwhelming. While it does play with the apple + oud idea, this is a completely different interpretation — darker, smoother, and far more luxurious. It does not smell like Boss Bottled Oud at all; there’s no designer sweetness or crowd-pleasing gloss here. This is more niche, more serious, and more atmospheric. Elegant, confident, and quietly powerful — one for oud lovers who want something familiar but elevated.

Oud Aquilaria takes the oud and rose DNA in a much more refined, modern direction. This isn’t the typical dark, barnyard-heavy oud bomb. It opens with a surprisingly punchy apple note that gives it brightness and character straight away, while rosemary adds a fresh aromatic zest that keeps everything feeling elegant rather than dense. The oud here is expertly blended. Smooth, woody and luxurious without going animalic. A subtle rose sits quietly in the background alongside sage, adding sophistication without ever turning overly floral. As it settles, amber and patchouli bring an earthy depth and warmth that gives the fragrance real presence. Performance is absolutely monstrous. Easily one of the stronger niche fragrances I’ve worn, and it projects for hours. My wife said it smelled beautiful the moment I sprayed it on. Definitely go easy on the sprays, this is a beast.

"Oud Aquilaria" is basically "Promise". It's the same guy even. They smell very similar and they have the same performance, but with three main differences: 1: The top note is not yelling and screaming from the top of its lungs at everyone in a 50 yard radius like "Promise" does. OA is just as potent, but it's not as massively stingy and sharp in the beginning. 2: The base of OA is nuttier, oudier and darker than "Promise". At least on my skin. 3: "Promise" costs twice as much. Other than that, I find them very similar. Both are super potent and needs to be used with caution. They both smell fantastic.

I always called this FM Promise V2. It's very nice. Opens up to a very fruity apple then settles to an oriental aromatic fresh woody scent. Rosemary lives longer than apple and pachouli dances in the back. It's like apple to rosemary to clove plus sage. I don't get bold rose in this and I like it better this way. V1 (FM promise) is nice but it's too much for me and I like this quieter version better. It's still a strong fragrance but not it a beast like FM's. With 2-3 sprays, I see this a nice office safe year round fragrance.

Agree overall it feels like watered down promise. Top note is exactly same, with secondary notes less sharp, more smoothed out and oilier. Dry down is very much same. Promise is more strong though. Even though this one is still pretty strong. I own both, got the promise from outlets for $150, which was a steal, with the price tag of $200 for Oud aquilaria (as it is more of a clone) feels little too expensive. Even though both scents (actually same scent in both) is a masterpiece

this has similarity to Promise by FM but both are also different too. pmoise dry down is much better than OA but the later has a better opening. oud in OA is not offensive, to my teste it is inviting. oud and rose comps work, but so do oud and fruits espcially apple

This is incredible, I think Dominique Ropion improved upon Promise with this one...I have both, and I love Oud Aquilaria far more then I do Promise. Don't listen to gatekeepers scaring you away this is a true masterpiece with performance being the icing on the cake.

Not sure about the Promise comparisons. Pure Apple and Oud for me. Super nice but a bit weak in my opinion. Heard it’s a beast. No. Not a chance. Wanderlust is way stronger for me. You can still tell the Ropion quality. Maceration might help?

This is the more wearable version of Promise. Just as good and not redundant to own both. Fresh apples, lots of spices. Beautiful. I will also get Promise for colder months and for those animalic notes. My 2nd best blind buy of the year

Aromatic, Rose, Oud with a dirty Patchouli. Very similar to FM Promise. Loud, yet Sophisticated. Beast mode. Not a blind buy. Though highly recommended. Shukran Habibi!

for me this is more wearable than promise. One spray under the shirt lasts a long time and gives me whifs throughout the day. Do not overspray whatever you do..

This is better than all the desert gems. This is exactly how i wanted Promise to be, because this one has everything that Promise lacks

I don't care what Ropion has done in the past or if this is a copy of something else, it smells very sophisticated and I like it.

It smells like crispy sweet and spicy oud. Great one. Performance and projection are very strong.

Another fruity interpretation of the 'Oud & Rose combo, here highlighting a very prominent green apple, then becomes a spicy aromatic floral with emphasis on the rose and the 'oud, I've seen many comparisons with Promise (Frederic Malle) also signed by the same perfumer, and really here Dominique Ropion made a less dense and lighter reinterpretation than Promise. I found the perfume very tasty but something bothered me a little at the opening, maybe the sourness of the green apple is not perfectly balanced in the composition, at least in my skin to my sense of smell; Anyway I liked it because fortunately this nuance is fleeting. This enchanting aroma opens with spicy nuances dominated mainly by rosemary pepper and a bittersweet green apple, creating a refreshing aromatic spicy opening that immediately impresses. At the heart of the fragrance a lovely floral bouquet adds a delicate and romantic sweetness of fresh dewy roses and just a slight spicy hint of clove. While at the base the rich woody base notes of a medicinal resinous 'oud with earthy patchouli and a sweet golden amber create a warm and sensual aura that remains on the skin throughout its evolution thanks to its great performance. Delicious Perfume!

Oud Aquilaria is a good fragrance that is setting itself for disappointment, hate, & failure with that name. Aquilaria is the oud (agarwood) tree. If you call your fragrance "Oud Aquilaria" what do people expect? Oud! Well, there is none in this fragrance, literally. This fragrance is an oriental fresh spicy-fruity scent, with a hint of rose. There is fruity-sweet apple, with a lot of spices (pink pepper & cloves), a spoonful of herbal tingly juniper, and a touch of rose to soften the smell. There is no oud here! It kind of reminds me of Hugo Boss's Boss The Scent line for men. Not identical smell but somewhat similar, if my memory serves me right. Personally, I was left utterly disappointment as I expected a proper oriental oud but was met with fruits & spices. The performance, projection & longevity, is immense, like the rest of OmanLuxury's fragrances. Oud Aquilaria is a mature, winter night wear. This misnomer of a fragrance gets a "Like" and pass from me. I'll stick to Serenity & Samahram. Edit: 1. It does smell like FM The Promise. 2. Samahram is now called "Royal Incense".

There's only one downside to this, and it's the fact that there's something in this that makes it smell like dry saliva. yk when you sleep with your mouth open and end up drooling all over yourself and the pillow? It's that smell. Also, if you just lick ur hand and let it dry, it's that smell as well. Always lingering in the back of this fragrance. im a freaky dude so i like that smell I'm not sure why, but I smell a lot of frankincense in the opening of this. The apple note starts off as a green apple smell and then becomes a red apple smell, weirdly enough. The most generic gulf arab smell ever ngl.

Pretty easy to wear rose/oud combo. I haven't experienced Promise, so not sure how it compares. I like the opening. I Get the apple with spice. Great longevity. I don't think it is too loud in projection (4 sprays). Its nice but doesn't move the needle or bring anything that blows me away from this DNA type. Certainly would wear it and like it enough. Just not rushing to get it. I liked Royal Incense better. Go figure.

In this fragrance, oud has been complemented by a generous dose of rose which makes it more wearable and fresh than most oud based fragrances tend to be. Personally I am not a rose fan, but it does a good job here, as also in other similar profile fragrances. It seems the oud-rose combo works well in general. Good one. 7/10

I liked it a lot when it dried down. The longevity is really good, it stayed for more than 8 hours on my skin. Don't get fooled by the name, if you are looking for an oud fragrance, Oud Aquilaria isn't your parfume. It's mainly a spicy, aromatic fragrance with a wet and dark rose in the background.

I haven't tried the Promise, and I am not an oud lover. Nevertheless, I really liked this take on oud with green apple. It's not barnyardy but not a 'French' composition either. It smells expensive. Not a surprise as Omanluxury offers outstanding quality and I love Ropion.

This one for me for the first 5 to 10 minutes smells like sweaty balls mixed with baby powder and a sour flower smell but let it sit for 10 minutes then judge it as it really is nice not top tier stuff but very beautiful sweet smoky powdery Rose with spicy touch

It’s nice but it has that cheap musky smell that Xerjoff uses in Erba Pura to my nose which I am not a fan of. I need more time to wear it but that’s something I picked up right away.

An herbaceous and sweet fruity rose, it’s bright but with enough depth that it can be used year round and very versatile. I find it to be quite beautiful :) moderate performance

same exact DNA as swedish wood and promise, but this one is the best of the bunch for me. still not a super fan of this DNA regardless but i actually dig this one

you can't go wrong with an Oud perfume if you want to smell rich, just don't over do it. and DO NOT wear this in hot weathers!!!

Very similar to FM promise. A more wearable, less sharp version. The "oud" is a western oud, like youd find in TF oud wood. Its not the deep, warm Ombre nomade type of oud. It smells decent in the air on opening. "Its ok" is the opinion of the young ladies I've polled. The opening is very light and airy. The rosemary/patchouli is quite forwardand its the note that makes this really not a likable DNA. It smells like you got off the elevator onto the surgical wing of a hospital. The dry down is an earthy patchouli. It lasts a good while but with only moderate projection&sillage. This is not a ROSE/OUD scent like Oud Silk Mood. You barely get rose at all. Its mostly rosemary/patchouli - not for me. 5.5/10

This opens with the typical oud scent that immediately hits my nose (and not in a good way), but after that dried down fairly quickly, this incredibly beautiful floral with a bit of spiciness came to the fore. It’s really quite stunning. However, I wish it had more longevity. It faded into a skin scent 2 hours after initial spritz, and was completely gone within 6 hours. I would recommend this to anyone who usually shies away from oud or is looking for a feminine oud because this absolutely blooms with time, albeit short-lived.

This should be called Apple Aquilaria. Apple is the primary note from opening to drydown. It starts out as a sour, tart apple; it feels like you're eating a Granny Smith through smell. The tartness transitions into a spiced apple cider. And eventually becomes like dried apple chips. Oud is there but it's decorative. It accentuates the spiced cider effect in the middle, and the dehydrated fruit effect in the late drydown. You have to like apple as a fragrance to enjoy this because it's beast mode apple.

This was my first oud and I bought it in a bit of a whim. I really enjoy oud smell and this is very subtle to me, more of a spicy pink pepper and fruity/herbal and too masculine for me to pull it off. If you like spicy fragrances and more of a softer oud than this is for you.

I like the rosemary apple opening, and the oud is really non-offensive. I don't enjoy the deep drydown though, where sharp quinolines come into play and make it smell a little cheap. However, I still think this is interesting and well crafted fragrance.

Originality is so scarce nowadays this is why iam very cautious with blind buying from relatively new niche houses This one is a watered down version of promise It’s subtle and more wearable and for my nose missing the best note from the original it’s the “green apples” they are almost nonexistent here and it’s the note that made me love promise in the first place so you can understand when i state that I don’t like it What makes promise special is how wild it is and this one seems a lot weaker

I had high hopes with this one being a Dominique Ropion creation, but very disappointed. I have no idea why this is named Oud Aquilaria it does not resemble oud, rather, it is a harsh mix of spices that comes of fairly offensive to me. I get a lot of cloves and pink pepper combined with an apple note and some patchouli. It has strong projection and decent longevity Basically, it's a clone of Promise (also created by Dominique Ropion) but the quality is less. 2/10

I don’t get this one. I tried, but I just don’t get it. Oud Aquilaria opens with a (female?) hairspray impression. Once that settles there’s a dry, sour apple note that largely defines the wearing experience. It’s not particularly complex and it smells rather synthetic, actually. “Fruity” ouds are a style that I have a hard time vibing with. Oud Maracuja was another such fragrance.

Looking at the notes, I was expecting a smooth, refined, and well-blended oud–rose combination, but it was a disappointment. It felt like a dirty fragrance — similar to Musc Ravageur or Promise — to the point that I wanted to wash my hands to get rid of the smell. It’s not for me and definitely not for everyone; I think its rating is misleading.

This one is very obnoxious, if you want attention and people to look at you, this is the one. The scent itself isn’t too bad; it’s just too strong and almost impossible to wear.

I detect no oud. This is apple erba pura vibe. Very cheap smell for me. I dont know what I was expecting but not this for the pricepoint.

tldr: beautiful and elegant boozy, rose-oud-apple scent. quality (to my nose) on par with Promise but if you're looking for a cheaper alternative to Promise with this one, just buy a 50ml of Promise. You won't even finish a bottle in your lifetime either way due to absurd potency. I initially got this fragrance as cheaper alternative to promise. At the time, smelling these side by side I found nothing lacking in OA that would prompt me to opt for the more expensive Promise. Especially since this was perfumed by the same master perfumer Dominique Ropion, I didn't have that facepalm moment of spending £158 on a clone. This was about 7 months ago. This fragrance has now gone from a love to a like. I still think this is a beautiful, stunning scent, but let me explain why I don't love it as much. Upon smelling Promise for the first time in 7 months yesterday, and also having a full bottle of OA in my possession for 7 months I realised what made Promise blow me away when the first smelled it. The cypriol, castoreum and the sharper apple definitely adds more character and more mystery to this scent. I feel if I smelled OA first instead of Promise it wouldn't have given me that surprise that Promise did. Also after letting OA sit for a good while I feel the oud has definitely come out more. Basically, if you're out there considering OA as a cheaper alternative to Promise, just buy a 50ml of promise. It's so absurdly potent (both of them, 24hr+) that whether you get a 50ml or 100ml bottle, you're practically getting a lifetime supply. I know there are people out there who like to spray a bit or alot more than others, and honestly more power to you, but you're bastardising both scents if you do more than 2 sprays, in my opinion.

Oud Aquilaria, from it's name you will probably think of a hard-to-waer type of oud, therefore it's not the case! This is an elegant and safe oud blend, I think maybe of a combo between the "Thai with a "non animalic fruity oud as the Indian style. (Personally I would love if the Hainan sweetness been added to push up the sweetness naturally) This oud combo starts by a sweet/fruity symphonic wood, riched slightly by a metalic vibe. This here comes from the oud but also from the Patchouli. The notes created an aromatic leathery back-end thanks to the spicy-clairy sage mid-crash with the Labdanum and soft rosemary. Well blended! The technical mastership showed in this blend by a non offensive Musky-Amber accord assisted by the rose and patchouli to wrap up all the formula and give it a soft and creamy feeling. This making it to be wearable in almost all seasons. The name is so attractive to every one cause it's trendy. The jus is definitely for everyone, a part from the Leather and Agarwood lover who will jump on it with no mercy despite the gender ;) The performance aspect is above the average, the rest is leather accord. ★★★☆☆

So glad I found this. I tested out Promise and it was way too animalic and in your face. It smelled like straight up gasoline with a hint of apple and rose. Then a buddy recommended me Oud Aquilaria and it was everything I wished Promise was. Smooth, intoxicating, strong but not cloying, sophisticated and just a stunning creation Dominique Ropion made Promise again, except for this time you won’t assault people that are crossing your path. Also the apple and rose is much more prominent here and it’s so beautiful The cypriol oil in Promise was so harsh that I started couching whenever I sprayed it. It’s a no brainer for me. If you like Promise but think it’s too strong and unapologetic then get this masterpiece instead

Elegant and more wearable version of FMP, certainly not a watered down version. Lack of castoreum and Cypriol with rose turned up and oud make this a phenomenal classy take on the original FMP. OA even smells a bit boozy to me personally. FMP is earthy and screechy, and projects into the next street. OA leaves a nice cloud. Both are absolute masterpieces. One of the few instances I'm blown away by a scent. Props to Ropion. One thing I will say though is if you love the earthy ruggedness of FMP you won't get that here, opt for FMP instead! Also I have to mention the bottle, it's fantastic. Nice magnetic cap, and the sprayer is so satisfying. It doesn't even feel like you've sprayed anything on you

While the vast majority of reviews comment on the similarities of Oud Aquilaria and Frederic Malle’s Promise, I think there are enough difference to justify having both. Yesit is true that Dominique Ropion created both, and it is true that the notes are almost the same. On the other hand only Promise includes Castoreum and Ambroxan. These two are important notes that shift Oud Aquilaria from being a clone of Promise. I would argue that owning both would be redundant. I love the way both smell. Oud Aquilaria does not project at quite the same level not last as long before becoming a skin scent. Both are unisex and I think most would use them in cooler weather.

Oman Luxury is a joke brand and Oud Aquilaria is their opening monologue. Cheap, ugly and disgusting Promise dupe with no projection or longevity. Smells like cat piss and that’s being generous. Objectively, Oman Luxury should pay you to buy this fragrance, and it should not be called a fragrance but instead birth control. Simply put, this stuff sucks and the brand is worse. With so many excellent, quality and trustworthy brands out there, run don’t walk from this one.

I agree on no oud here, more of a very earthy, soily, herbalicious apple. Kind of reminds me of centauri Gaea but that one is more dense honey whist this is fairly fresh and crisp with the apple. Not really erba pura vibes for me I don't like that smell as it's too piercingly musky but in a rotten fruit kind of way. This is earthy, fresh, a walk in a freshly dug up apple orchard. Leans green and I can't make out rose or clove but maybe on the drydown. TBC
