Overdose

Today I'm taking a trip to the Middle East with a house by the name of Omanluxury. Up until last year I had never heard of the house before, then I started seeing it pop up on fragrance influencers videos as a "hidden gem". The fragrance most talked about was this one, Overdose. One person went so far as to say it was "one of the best summer fragrances ever made". Now being from Texas where it's pretty much always summer, I'm very familiar with summer scents. There are some absolute banger freshies out there, so when someone makes a claim like that I have to take it with a grain of salt (no pun intended). Will Overdose be the legendary summer fragrance people have made it out to be? Let's get into it and find out; Scent: The opening is citrusy, bright, and fresh. The primary notes I get are ambergris, orange, lemon, and bergamot. The strongest of the notes are the orange and ambergris. Right from the first spray, the orange was jumping off my skin to meet my nose. It is a delicious, almost gourmand type of orange that smells to me exactly like fresh-squeezed orange juice. Mixed in with the orange is the mandarin orange, and both of them combine into this juicy citrus note that's both tart and sweet at the same time. Of all the fragrances I've tried, this orange note struck the biggest chord with me due to its photo-realism and just how delectable it is. Along for the ride is the ambergris with a salty and fresh, semi-aquatic accord, but also slightly warm and skin-like. It's a noticeably high-quality ambergris note, not the synthetic garbage that some fragrances will list as "ambergris". Up next is the lemon and bergamot. The lemon adds more vibrant, citrusy goodness onto the pile, but with the distinct acidic bite and rindiness that lemon notes are known for. Again, very realistic and accurate to the aroma of fresh-cut lemon. Lastly, the bergamot throws even more citrus in but with the characteristic spicy undertones typical of the note. In the opening I'm reminded heavily of Louis Vuitton's Afternoon Swim. This makes sense, considering Afternoon Swim also makes heavy use of orange and ambergris. The dry down is still citrusy, bright, and fresh. The primary notes I get are ambergris, orange, lemon, and musk. The strongest of the notes are still the orange and ambergris. The orange is thankfully still the focus of the dry down with the same hyper-realistic "orange juice" accord. Likewise, the ambergris is still very present but has become a tad warmer with just a bit of earthiness behind it. It reminds me of the ambergris note from BR540, just not nearly as strong or prominent. This is followed by the lemon and musk. The lemon still has the same tart and acidic tone from the opening, not much has changed there. Lastly, there's a bit of musk in the background for a background of fresh, fuzzy, and clean accord. With the dry down being so similar to the opening, the comparisons to Afternoon Swim are still relevant. Performance: Initial projection within the first hour was strong, reaching out about 5-6 feet. Sillage was strong as well and left an easily noticeable scent trail. After about 4 hours the projection was about 3-4 feet but the scent trail was still easily noticeable. At around the 7-8 mark the projection was getting to about arms length and the scent trail was lighter but still noticeable. The fragrance lasted about 10 hours before it became a skin scent. When to wear: Overdose is a spring/summer fragrance that best worn during the daytime. This fragrance feels more casual to me, and would be something I would wear to a pool party, the beach, or anything else I'd wear shorts and a t-shirt to. The heavy focus on citrus wouldn't fit the vibe of anything formal, and wouldn't be something I'd consider for the office either. This could work great as a gym scent, though. Blind buy: If you like Afternoon Swim, or you enjoy heavy focus on citrus (particularly orange), this is a safe blind buy for you. Final verdict: From the first spray Overdose grabbed me as something really special. That orange note is nearly unmatched in quality and realism, with Afternoon Swim being the only other fragrance I've experienced that's even come close to it. What's even better is that the accord persisted from opening to dry down, making the entire experience this juicy and gourmand fruit experience. Not a lot of fragrances activate that lizard part of my brain and make me want to drink them, but Overdose is definitely one of them. When it comes to performance, Overdose was no slouch. Medium-strong projection and scent trails for the first few hours, and lasting about 10 altogether before fading away. With Overdose being such a fresh fragrance, versatility lands somewhere in the average range. It's great for warm weather, but it's too casual to be dressed up and worn with anything other than a t-shirt. In terms of mass-appeal, this one crushes. Orange is a very safe pick when it comes to citrus notes, and that hyper-realistic "orange juice" vibe is going to grab peoples' noses and draw them in. To wrap this up, I was honestly surprised with how much I liked Overdose. It's obvious that a lot of quality and effort went into the fragrance, and I can understand why it gets the amount of love it does. As to whether or not I'll get a full bottle, I'm not sure. I really enjoyed wearing Overdose but I've loved Afternoon Swim for a while, and with how similar they are it feels redundant to own both. They aren't identical, as Afternoon Swim has more of an aquatic feel to it, but that focus on orange gets them close enough. I will say that Overdose is at least $100 cheaper than Afternoon Swim, so that is something to consider. I'll end up owning one, I'm just not sure which yet. Either way it'll be a great choice. Scent: 10/10 Longevity: 7/10 Sillage: 7/10

The hype is real. Charming fragrance, superlative raw material quality; It opens with an overdose of slightly spicy citrus (cardamom) and spiciness from black pepper. This uppercut of citrus notes remains during the first hour of the fragrance's life, and then begins to show a heart that is perceived as if we had a glass of gin in one hand and a glass of champagne in the other. There is something barely floral fluttering around in this phase but nothing significant. Towards the fifth or sixth hour the ambergris begins to appear; This phase is especially beautiful, cedar, patchouli and sandalwood finish rounding off the final scene. Lots and lots of quality in a fragrance that boasts the best opening I have ever smelled in a fresh fragrance.

The juiciness of a full blown citrus bouquet (Bergamote 22 + all other citruses) + The composed freshness of terre d’hermes (grapefruit + vetiver and a spicy minerality) + The absolute elegance and attraction of the ambergris base of green Irish tweed .. All declined into a splash of summery seawater! Unbelievable citrus longevity even under tough heat. A hot season masterpiece I Will never have to buy the creed or use terre outside the office after this wonderful discovery <33 Please try!

A euphoric explosion of scent that lives up to its name. The opening is an overdosed freshness of bergamot, grapefruit, lemon, mandarin, saffron, cardamom, and black pepper — citrus and spice in perfect harmony. The heart of jasmine, lily, orange blossom, fig, and sage adds a lush, botanical depth. The base of ambergris, vetiver, musk, sandalwood, tonka, patchouli, and plum is overwhelming in the best way — rich, addictive, and blissfully long-lasting. 10/10

It's a very unique fragrance for warmer weather and it stands out from other, "safer" citrus freshies. The opening consists of very fizzy, but mellow citruses (reminds me of some citrus vitamin drink), mixed with airy hospital-like artificial note, my guess is, from saffron accord. And this remains throughout the entire duration. The fragrance pushes off the skin hard and lasts for long. This is excellent.

Whoever is downvoting this fragrance is lying or is a complete knucklehead. It’s a crowd pleasing fragrance that is completely safe for most situations and seasons. You could not not like this fragrance unless you want to smell weird, which I suppose is possible.

I agree with the comment below. One of the best citrus openings in my fragrance journey so far. Even if you don't get a bottle, if you're a citrus lover it's a no brainer to get a sample.

I bought this fragrance a year ago, I was very upset over summer about the performance and the smell, actually I start to feel it is not too bad, still the performance is not huge it is way below the price point but dry down and opening actually not too bad after resting it for a year, but still I wouldn't recommend to anyone. very powdery lemony opening and neutral acidic fruity drydown. suitable for warm weathers day&night. gym, work, beach, party you can wear every occasions.

Smells like vitamin C tablets that you put in a glass of water. Strong performance and longevity. its so loud and has a polarizing smell. I smell mostly bitter citruses and salt with leather even though the notes do not have leather nor salt. Not safe for a blind buy. Not many people would like this and some might even get headache. 6/10 for me.

Il y a de l'orange sanguine dans ce parfum , fragrantica ne l'a pas mentionné dans les notes et c'est dommage parce que c'est la note dominante du parfum 😆 C'est vraiment une orange sanguine pure , fraiche , juteuse et hyper naturelle. C'est beau , mais les performances sont catastrophiques .

Very challenging imo. Very, very citrusy, but also very, very animalic. For someone who's looking for an animalic ambergris fragrance, this might be it.

Long-lasting, more challenging grapefruit. Bitter, so somewhat demanding, but basically just bitter. It’s good, though lacking finesse.

Pure citrus fragrance... grapefruit and bergamot are very noticeable with above average performance... very refreshing summery.

Sure, there's a fantastic citrus note (or 20) here. But just as I spray this on, I immediately imagine arriving at a winter beach (Oregon, Washington), and rolling down the windows for the first time and smelling that dankness in the air. I guess it's probably the saltiness from the ambergris, but...I can't get past imagining the rocky shores, with washed up kelp laying everywhere. The other scent I quickly picked up was the bitter orange. I don't look at the notes before applying, but now, I guess this is the orange blossom. As someone who loves citrus and whose favorite fruit is orange...I was disappointed that the bitter blossom was what dominated. I don't hate this scent. I feel like this could be a "Replica Ocean Shores", and would be great for someone looking for that. I'm not. I did begin to notice the pepper after an hour...and maybe the vetiver is why I specifically pictured kelp in my mind. But I still haven't gotten the deeper wood notes that I enjoy. If I liked the opening, I'd be happy to wait 1-2 hours for more. But in this case, I've got better things to do. It's not a scrubber, but it won't likely be applied again.

The opening was pure heaven. Once the citrus medley died off I was left with a strong, unpleasant aroma of cumin. Since there is no cumin listed in the notes, I suspect it’s a mixture of salty ambergris, jasmine and black pepper giving this savory cumin vibe. This is long lasting and not very pleasant. I scrubbed my hand and it’s still there. It’s a no for me.

Overdose of mediocrity.. to me it feels like a mosh of every popular freshy/signature i get hints invectus, hacivat, aventus dna. dry down is reminiscent of aventus absolu. seems like a redundant perfume to me idk who'd want this over any of the ones i mentioned or other hundreds of generic citrus perfumes

Now that i revisited it i can understand it better from hate to dislike for now still the worst scent so far worst than secretion magnifique on the skin but on paper it reminded me the smell of hot steamed towel

This is a miss for me. Opening is harsh rindy citrusy, dries down to a citrusy, ambergris, salty fragrance with some fruitiness in the back. The saltiness makes me puke and ruins the balance of the fragrance.

This one is headache inducing. Opens up really crisp and citrusy but the dry down is just a mess : the salty ambergris mixed with fig and white florals is unbearable for me. Absolute no for me.

Smells like a room spray more than a fragrance. Green, slightly sweet, and earthy with definite citrus throughout. Grapefruit and some lemon. Not worth the price. Glad I sampled first.

This smells very bitter and makes me feel physically sick. But my friends find this scent extremely sexy, so I encourage you to try it yourself. This is very blind buy unfriendly.

A chemical disaster IMO. Smells salty and slightly fishy. Very unpleasant. Had to wash it off. It's just bad on me and I don't have any better words for it.

I don’t know which demonic cult hyped this fragrance, but if disappointment had a scent, it’d be this: shit, floor cleaner, and some drunk homeless guy’s vomit who lives in a damp boat — all covering fresh citruses. The only good thing about this fragrance is the bright and natural citrus opening. When I first tested it, I was at home and sprayed it on my wrist. The opening was stunning, but after 15–20 minutes, I fell asleep. Two or three hours later, something evil pierced my soul through my nostrils, and I immediately woke up thinking I was getting possessed. I was terrified — what the actual fuck was that? I searched for the source... and found it. My goddamn wrist — where the demon had taken a shit!

One of the worst fragrances I’ve ever had the misfortune of smelling, starts with with a bitter citrus which honestly grabs your attention at first making you hope the fragrance is going to evolve into a softer fresh scent, but in reality the dry down is one of the most atrocious things I’ve experienced. It’s smells like a wet dog mixed with stomach bile. Such a disappointment especially being an Omani national myself. Please Omanluxury if you’re reading discontinue this fragrance as soon as possible. This is a stain on your emerging name and needs to be remedied as soon as possible.

This is the most awful fragrance I've ever smelled. It opens with a citrus scent and then this foul animalic funk comes to the fore--mixed in with the citrus notes. That funk gets more potent and foul with time. In way less words: this smells like shit and lemons. Before this fragrance, I never had this problem with ambergris and have only heard of its smelly lore but now, I have finally experienced it. I couldn't stand it after the 2nd hour and had to scrub it off. I scrubbed my wrist 5 times with soap, but the stench was still on me. 0/10

It is a very surprising perfume. I got an unexpected result. I definitely do not recommend it. The opening notes are not bad, but the drydown is one of the worst I have ever seen in my life. After 4-5 hours, it really starts to smell like spoiled cheesecake, it is intense and nauseating. A few comments said that the drydown was problematic, but I can guess that much. I didn't think so, but I don't think it's a surprise that problems occurred on more than one skin. (0/10) Definitely do not buy without testing.

First impression: I can see why this one is controversial. The drydown smells like a combination of a dog that needs a bath, wet rocks, and a little citrus. I'll need to test further to see if my opinion changes but so far this is a no. I love real ambergris but it's very much overdosed here, as the name says. That would be fine if it was white ambergris, but this smells like a lower grade gray or even black ambergris.

I ain’t no hater, but this is the first time I ever recoiled after smelling a perfume. The first thing this smelt like was a chicken kabsa spice mix. After reading the comments and resmelling, I can notice the ambergris note more, and now it also smells like raw fish.

I have never smelled a perfume that bad, its really bad. How can a fresh perfume be that bad? Smells like eggs that has been left out for days. How is this a "green" perfume. Stay away from this if you like fresh summer fragrances.

Yeah it pretty much smells like a citrus cleaner with tiny hints of florals in the background. The good thing is that it's not that strong. I don't know what justifies the high price.

On paper it smelldel like a unique sangria or aperol spritz scent. But on skin it wast mostly an unpleasant wet dog.

Fantastic zingy orange/grapefruit opening that is quite literally an overdose of the senses. Blasts your nostrils like a a snort of a lemon sherbet dib-dab, quite stunning actually, and that's coming from a guy who isn't a freshie fan in any way shape or form. After the initial orange/grapefruit assault, you get a lovely salty ambergris accord that calms things down and creates a lovely citrus/salty vibe but with some sweetness/creaminess from the tonka(?) and plum. Reminds me of Tauer's much underrated Orange Star, and performance is fab, not just for a freshie, but in general, as this lasts all day and beyond. All told this is fantastic stuff and at £118/100ml is an absolute no brainer. Oh, and if you're looking at a new freshie and had an eye on Creed's Viking Cologne, just buy this instead, as it's what Viking Cologne should have been and wishes it was
