Wanderlust 2023 Edition

This has taken me *completely* by surprise. To be honest, it being Middle Eastern (I'm from there), I know that their forte is *not* freshies at all. In fact they are terrible at freshies. Now this, this is something completely different. This is my first from the house, and I blind bought it, as I do all my fragrances, and I wanted something different, and boy did I get something different. This does not smell Oriental, or Middle Eastern....at all. The only thing that has a common denominator with ME frags is it's monstrous, to me anyway. It smells like it has a tropical vibe to it, I smell coconuts, yet there is no coconut note or accord, or anything that resembles it, and yet it smells natural. Is it the way the green fig is coming across? I have no idea, I grew up around fresh figs but not the green types, just mature and I can detect the fig, and I can smell the most delicious of green tea, There is a hint of the green apple in there but only if I look for it, it is so well blended in there that all the green note are blended oh so well, but if you try to single them out, they are then discernible. Under the well blended green notes I sense something lactonic, and I know it sounds like it would clash with the green accord, but it does not; the green accords are cushioned by a big fluffy marshmallow bedded underneath them, and it all feels like it's at home, yet still smells very fresh. It's fresh, green and creamy so far, yet incredibly delicious but not anywhere in gourmand territory, but definitely green and lactonic. I feel the Cedar is blended in with the rest of the green notes sitting on something laconic, it could be the sandalwood that is giving off that delicious creamy feel, but no woodsy or spiciness at all. So now the creaminess or lactonic feel is indeed the Sandalwood base, meshed with the Musk, and a hint of Amber alongside the creaminess of the figs. I don’t feel as though the Cedar is in the base notes, but more like the blend of greens sitting on top along with the other greens. This all might sound like they clash something silly, but they do not, not one bit, it is so well blended and they all sit in harmony together of the green notes atop the creaminess of the other notes, I giuess the green notes do now have a tad of the woodiness in with them, and the woodsy notes seem like the bridge between the green notes above, and the creaminess of the base notes, and the woodsy notes seem to fall like a creamy waterfall into the laconic base. This is gorgeous. I am truly taken aback by this, was so not expecting this, if anything I was thinking of another Amouage nostril burning monster of a ME fragrance. Not that there is anything bad with Amouage, I'm just not a huge fan of theirs, I think growing up over there has given me some form of anti-bodies towards the nostril burning notes :D This is oh so nice, and I will be for sure trying some other frags from this house, an awesome blind buy, safe, and although to me comes across as fresh, it can be worn any time, any place by anyone, it's gorgeous. UPDATE: It's now in it's 11th hour since initially applying it, and it's still more than a skin scent, it has evolved into a very gorgeous creamy Amber with hints of Sandalwood and fig, and even now, it feels like the beautiful dying embers of a great bonfire that roared through the day. Rarely have I taken the time to write such a lengthy (sorry!) review, and even more so; rarely do I update it with the remnants of the skin scent, this is truly a gorgeous fragrance that I suggest you not only sample, but take the time to enjoy the life of the fragrance and ride it out till it ends. I thought that none of the fresher perfumes could catch my attention anymore, given that I’ve gone through hundreds of complex and rich masterpieces with deep, intricate notes. I gave up on fresh perfumes because, in the end, they all feel very similar, relying on the easy route of citruses, clean spices, and woods. But this... oh boy. What a creation. It makes me happy every time I wear it. I only wear regularly two "fresh" fragrances: this flawless perfume and Kenzo EDT Intense. I don’t know what it is, but it simply smells better than the other 50 perfumes I have in my GOD-TIER TOP combined. You simply can’t pick out a single bad note or say that it’s intrusive. At the same time, it lasts remarkably well for this type of DNA. Ultimately, if you’re looking for a sexy, versatile perfume that works for the office but is also a joy to wear, this is a perfect blind buy. Weddings, baptisms, divorces, communions—you can wear it for any occasion, and you’ll never go wrong. You can even wear it first thing in the morning, and while it’s not overwhelming, you’ll still notice it throughout the morning. Most importantly, you won’t smell generic. Wanderlust is first crispy, green and fresh. If I were to go for a run or do some other exercise early in the morning outside, I would want to wear this scent. This is so energising. The fruits here are not sweet nor juicy fruity, Apple and Blackcurrant are not detectable like in the way they used to be in many perfumes. Fig makes the texture a little bit milky and otherwise the scent is slightly aromatic. The base is woody and smooth. As the scent develops, the crunchy, crispy essence softens first thanks to the fig, and then the Musk starts to change the scent in a velvety direction while still maintaining a greenish feel. I am surprised to see that the fragrance is not so popular among women. I don't think there is anything that makes this masculine or feminine, the scent is truly unisex. The first time I tested Wanderlust, I didn't like it. It started with a strong citrus accord but quickly transitioned to a very green/grassy scent profile. But I just re-tested it and have a very different experience, for reasons unknown. Maybe it has something to with my tester sample? At any rate, it now is less green and holds that citrus much longer than it did on my first try, much to my relief. Its main note is a tart lemon-type citrus and picks up a bit of floralness along the way. For that reason, this fragrance leans more feminine, but it is probably unlikely to scratch heads were a guy to wear it. It smells very clean. Wanderlust's citrus is more tart than sweet, so it's less like, say, LV Imagination or Afternoon Swim and more like a linear grapefruit scent. I'm not super familiar with Omanluxury's offerings, but this seems to be a common trait among this house's fragrances. I have Wanderlust on one hand and Royal Incense on my other, and I can smell that similar citrus-incensy accord in both.

Utmost juicy-fig! It opens with a fruity sweetness and a juicy greenness. It's a crisp, fresh and leafy scent, as if you've taken plant stems and crushed them. Tea and bergamot notes are also very noticeable. A perfume that gives you freshness and happiness! The longevity is amazing; I can still smell it the next day. A juicy, fruity fig scent; both green and luscious with fruitiness... Edit: Now I have a full bottle! It doesn't resemble Philosykos which is creamier, more leafy green. It doesn't resemble Adam & Eve's Dress either; that one is much more woodsy. I love those too, and I own them. This one leans more towards the juicy and fruity side.
