About two months ago, I got my hands on a bottle of Amouage Gold Man. Its dazzling burst of powdery florals and animalic notes hit me like a golden explosion—overwhelming, intoxicating, like seeing stars in gold. It was undeniably shocking, undeniably decadent, undeniably the scent of “gold.” Two months later, I chanced upon a bottle of Zafar, and for a moment, I was genuinely taken aback—disoriented, even. The first spray hit my wrist with a rush of powdery white florals mixed with synthetic candied fruits—spicy, loud, and borderline vulgar. A strong wave of rejection surged through my mind: “Why is it sweet?!” Wanting to dissect the fragrance in its entirety, I applied it generously—no rubbing, no blotting. I watched it transition from a liquid sheen to a thick, glossy oil film on my skin. I then sprayed it onto fabric as well, trying to flood my surroundings with its aroma to better deconstruct the scent with my nose. The blend of white florals and animalic tones built on a woody base immediately reminded me of Gold Man. The resemblance was uncanny. But here, the scent was less dusty and soapy—more substantial, more important somehow. At first, I suspected my laundry detergent was interfering. After carefully sniffing untreated fabric, I confirmed: this scent was the perfume itself. Just as I was about to dismiss it as a decent yet redundant composition, a synthetic animalic note—something reminiscent of ambroxan or civet-like musk—suddenly pierced through. I searched for it in the official note breakdown, but found nothing definitive. Alongside this animalic pulse, spicy facets of cinnamon and pepper surfaced, entangled with a massive cloud of powdery florals. That’s when I started to realize: this was not a copy. This was something else entirely. Here, the powderiness is moist—like a velvety lip mousse. I could make out a generous amount of indolic jasmine, an oily neroli, dewy lily of the valley, and an iris carrying a soft, dusty facet. The fragrance was astoundingly long-lasting, evolving at a glacial pace. As I waited for the first transition, I found myself growing drowsy, as though being lulled into a dream of flowers. When I awoke, the first thing I did was sniff my wrist—and oh! The woods had finally emerged, and they were breathtaking. The woody accord carried gentle sweetness from tonka bean and vanilla, while vetiver and patchouli amplified the depth of sandalwood and oud. The entire structure was enveloped in a rounded, swelling amber, fused with resinous frankincense and a cozy musk. The woody drydown was so beautiful it gave me goosebumps—absolutely exquisite. Then I smelled the fabric again. On cloth, the scent seemed frozen in time. Unlike on skin, not a single note seemed to have drifted off. Instead, they fused into a denser, more complex whole. It was difficult to describe, but the richness and opulence remained. Compared to the golden blast of Gold Man, Zafar feels like a hidden glow beneath intricate architecture—a fragrance of tension and tenderness. No longer blinding gold leaf, but a light buried deep within amber. At first, I thought I had encountered a duplicate. In the end, I realized: this is the same grandeur, expressed through an entirely different order.

Oman Luxury Zafar is a fragrance with many layers and sophisticated complexity. Zafar opens slightly fresh. However, it reveals its middle eastern heritage quickly. It smells like a warm, humid evening stroll through one of the souqs of Oman. A souq like Zafar has many different layers and fragrances, from frankincense to spices and perfumes, to name a few. Zafar brings me right back to a pleasant memory of Oman. Zafar never really shows its true nature and surprises me again and again when revealing the different layers. One of these layers reminds me e little bit of Dark Lord By Kilian. However, it's just that one layer that appears after a few hours. The longevity of the Zafar is outstanding, and I got 12+ hrs. Definitely a must-try!

An extremely beautiful floral oud, the jasmine and orange blossom pop out the most for me along with a smooth oud that adds a gorgeous depth. The oud is strong in the opening but quickly fades, I was hoping for a more potent oud like the flanker Khanjar. But, this is undeniably beautiful!! It doesn’t smell like Mancera Crazy for Oud as Beastmodefrag mentioned. Not even close. Don’t get fooled. First, they are completely different scent profile, second, the quality where Omanluxury is far ahead. I had to smell Mancera to doublecheck this and I got a bottle of Zafar. It’s extremely beautiful fragrance.

Don't go into this expecting a lot of oud. It's pretty warm where I'm at and I didn't feel choked out when I wore it. It's much lighter than I expected with a surprisingly fresh opening. The dry down is more woody. Really great for fall/winter. Above average longevity and sillage. It's an easy to wear fragrance.

very heavy on the frankincense. smells exactly like my favorite bakhoor, which I LOVE, but because I mostly associate that scent with burning incense, I can't imagine wearing it on my skin for a whole day. Will probably only use for special occasions.

Zafar perfume, very enjoyable, and multi-use, day and night, winter and summer. The many exciting ingredients make the fragrance’s fluctuations something else. Whether you are a fan of oud or not, this perfume will change your thoughts about oud.

Bubblegum oud. Chew it up spicy and fresh. Chomp chomp.

Zafar on my skin to my sense of smell opens fresh, intertwining with a fruity and sparkling sourness of citrus with green apple well in evidence but brief. It continues to blend with a sweetly incensed accord smoky by Hojari Frankincense and a slightly animalic smoky 'Oud Natural, both of excellent quality and the protagonists of this composition. This steamy duet is the soul of the perfume. Very arabesque perfume but I don't see great challenges or difficulties here; just a faint and glowing hint of a barely noticeable stable. A natural Indian 'oud but nothing scary or too heavy; thus increasing the versatility/usability of the perfume. And with a discreetly spicy fresh spicy central part and with a floral breeze from the typical Omani mountain rose to the 'Rock Rose' in the spotlight, a variety of the Damask Rose that only grows in the altitudes of the Al Akhdhar mountains, blending with a light white floral, brings a little freshness making a beautiful contrast with the warmth of the smoked woods. Then it begins to take a powdery balsamic course, earthy, but always wrapped in the wonderful and captivating smoky incensed accord, immediately referring to the typical bakhoor's of the Gulf Region (Khalij). Perfume Complex layered... A delicious dusty dark pink fragrance at this stage, how it pleases me! This strong Middle Eastern vibe is amplified by a sweet woody/vanilla base harmoniously rounding off the fragrance. Zafar in my perception has nothing unpleasant, it is very tasty, an arabesque fragrance but not as intense in 'HARD MODE' as Khanjar its brother from the same collection, Zafar is softer and more measured, but it has power you will not go unnoticed. Surprisingly, Zafar brings a good level of innovation and originality to fragrances in this category. A unique fragrance worthy of paying homage to the centuries-old Omani tradition of the world's finest incense and roses; and still has great performance. Arabesque Smoky Amber Floral Woody Perfume!

From the very first spray, Zafar opens with a distinctive agarwood-oud dampness, evoking a foggy, humid atmosphere. There is a cool, almost mist-like quality at the start that feels earthy and slightly green, before it gradually softens and opens up. As it develops, zafar transitions into a lush floral heart, with rose taking center stage, supported by an impressively realistic jasmine. The jasmine feels alive and airy, fresh yet natural, as if it is surrounding you rather than sitting on the skin. In the background, olibanum (luban) quietly weaves through the composition. It never overwhelms, instead adding a subtle resinous lift that enhances the sense of air and depth. The oud here is exceptionally well blended, layered rather than loud, providing structure and warmth without dominating the florals. There is a soft sweetness running throughout the fragrance. It rounds the composition rather than turning it gourmand, maintaining balance between freshness, resin, and wood. Interestingly, the opening dampness and foggy character strongly recall Dhofar during the khareef season. The cool air, moisture, greenery, and incense-tinged atmosphere feel unmistakably present. Whether intentional or not, the name Zafar seems to echo this regional mood beautifully. Overall, this is beautiful perfumery.

I like the oud in this. It's a tad barnyardy at first, but it ebbs away fairly quickly. There'a a sort of cooling, mentholated aspect to the scent that I enjoy. A smooth scent that gets a thumbs up from me.

Fan of the house, and this is another very good scent. Unfortunately, not unique enough for the price point. Oud-leaning oud/rose combo, with a lil fruit jam mixed in. Think mature Middle Eastern man.

Great apple, and sweet scent in the opening. Then your hit with a little bit of a funky Oud. But the dry down is well worth the wait

#1605 in my "Tour de Fragrance" Got this decant from scentsplit.com for $6.99. Both Scent Split and Maxaroma have it at $300 a bottle, so it's "luxury" for sure. The one scent this reminds me of in this price range is Roja Dove "Candy Aoud", something no man should ever wear, and I'd say the same of this fragrance. This scent is not only not remotely unisex, but definitely more either an early adolescent feminine scent, like any of fruity/floral Aquolina "Pink Sugar" scents, which range from $11-$21, or something grandma might wear to hide "that smell", as it certainly has silage. But I would not want this on any woman of interest to me. This stuff is powdery fruit and flowers with an oud that smells completely out of place, like someone at a party that's awkward or anti-social, so they stand off to the side and don't interact with the other people in the room. You kind of expect that in a cheap bath powder, but a $300+ scent? If I had a daughter in middle school who really, really liked this and it cost $20, maybe. For any other use it's a hard "no" for me. After about two hours it's wearable, but I'm meeting someone in a little over an hour, so I am not leaving this on my skin long enough to rate the longevity (which I suspect is all day). I absolutely despise the opening of this. It's harsh funky and very indolic on me. I didn't scrub it off, and the dry down is very nice, but that funky offputting smells lingers for quite a bit. I sprayed it twice on my arm today and again, in the opening that funky indolic scent hits me, just radiates. However, after about 20 minutes, I only still smell that if I go in close. The whiffs I catch in the air are very nice, and the BO is toned down in the air. I'm going to try this a couple days in a row and see, then ill shelve it for a month or two and see if that opening dies down after it macerates a bit... Atm, it's a dislike. Paramour on the hand is beautiful.

Obviously I'm a huge OMANLUXURY lover, I bought all of their fragrances online on their website. With ZAFAR you finally receive the most luxurious oriental fragrance that you've been looking for all those years in AMOUAGE. It has all you can ask for, it has amazing longevity, fantastic projection for 4 hours solid, and it's not your boring raspberry, or woody oud. It's rather soft and floral, relaxed and elegant. It's a solid powerhouse. Amongst the many OMANLUXURY fragrances that I bought all on their website and that where delivery thru ARAMEX to my doorstep on my own expense!!! this is a very lovely fragrance Spring, Summer, Fall or Winter, Day and Night. It amazes me. As with many OMANLUXURY fragrances, the reviews here have little to do with the product. Sadly. AVERAGE DURATION? Hahaha FUNKY OUD? Not exatly, this is no barnyard or gas station fragrance at all Trust someone you purchased it for a change and who know's what's going on. If you like my thoughts, hit the 👍 button.

This scent smells good but it's a like for me not a love. Unlike anything I've smelled in a long while. You have wait for the initial blast to subside to be left with the gorgeous apple, citrus blend. Lasts a decent 6-8 hours on skin and longer on clothes. This is fresh, clean, citrus with just a hint of woods remaining in the dry down. You have to wait 4 hours or just abouts to get to the sweet spot. And honestly after those 4 hours, the scent is gorgeous, unique and quite overall just quite nice...but once I smelled the undercurrent of a little B.O at initial spray I can mark it's return in the dry down. Based on notes listed, I can't smell the rose, but I do detect the grapefruit and the lily of the valley. There is warmth from the amber and just a hint of grapefruit. Not a beast mode projector. But it lasts. Personally, if anyone has royal incense...I would be open to trade my bottle for yours.

Okay this one is lovely. At first i was like "hell naaahh", it opens up real funky "which i can be a fan of sometimes". 1 week later I came back to my 2ml sample, and wasnt so repelled by the funky oud thats really dominant in the opening together with the bergamot, rose and apple. The dry down is magical, gourmand with a touch of sandalwood, I LOVE IT. The opening is like a funkier version of Kredo's opening, at least to my nose, and dry down reminds me of something but i cant seem to remember which fragrance it reminds me of. Not a recommended blind buy. Longevity 6/10. Projection 6/10. Scent 8/10.

A good fragrance that opens very sparkling , citrusy and which immediately gives way to other notes , where indolic jasmine prevails . Incense and Oud are very little perceivable, thus creating a very pleasant and harmonious fragrance, to be worn without too many pretensions. The drydown is closed, dusty, earthy and gives a totally opposite vibe to the opening. To wear in winter during the day . Average duration and sillage.

Wow, love this. Zafar opens fresh and the oud is fantastic..a little funky (but not animalic) which I like. This is a full on Middle Eastern scent...warm yet fresh, spicy and with a discreet dash of vanilla. I absolutely love this. Zafar might be a bit too full on for some, please test before you buy. Blind buy not recommended.

A woody oriental fragrance. There is a subtle pleasant funk to the oud, balanced by florals, olibanum and fruits. The composition feels rich, smooth and well blended throughout. While I wouldn't wear it myself, I do find it pleasant and intriguing. It feels a bit familiar.

Opening has the signature strong funk, to love this fragrance you have to be a fan of the barn yard oud profiles. It stays with you the entire journey but really softens after about 15 minutes from the opening.

Got a sample of Zafar. Smells extremely close to Mancera Crazy For Oud! So if you wanna smell like Zafar for a lot, a lot less around $60-$80, get Mancera Crazy For Oud. Thank me $300 later 🤷🏻♂️

Heavy on jasmine, which is I personally like. This give it a slight animalic accord.
