Madera

I absolutely love how this smells, the vanilla caramel sweetness of it is profoundly delicious and it lasts forever. Whether or not I want to wear it, I certainly want to smell it. This was an experiment in gourmands for me, and especially as I love vanilla, I couldn't have chosen better. I could smell this on my arm for days and never in that time did it change or play a false note. The first time I wore it I thought it was wonderful but I guess I don't want to wear gourmands. I've tried it twice since, and enjoyed wearing it more and more. Last night I used it strategically to cover the "dishwashing powder on crystal meth" stank that I could not get off me from testing Essential Parfum's The Musc (I get it, EP, we are not to be!), and this immediately wiped out the stank that no amount of soap and scrubbing could budge. I have always loved sweet scents and I know what cheap sweet smells like, but this is clearly expensive sweet. I am so impressed with the quality of the ingredients and the blend and how they last and last, softening but never going bad. I won't buy this but I would love to receive it as a gift. Edit to add that I am testing Perfect Veil by Sarah Horowitz, and on the arm still containing Medera, PV has brought forward all the floral notes I wasn't smelling in Medera. PV turns this from a sweet gourmand to a magical and complex creamy floral.

The performance of this is remarkably close to Indult Tihota, and I'm suprised to see there's not more overlap in the 'people who like this also like' section. It's a very literal interpretation of caramel and vanilla, syrupy and creamy and buttery, with just a splash of coconut cream. If you've ever had Nancy Silverton's famous butterscotch budino, it's as if they've managed to bottle her delectable, rich dessert into a fragrance. The notes in this actually sing on my skin, and I don't find it cloying or overly sweet. That said, I also know I'm the kind of person who can handle super sugary scents, whereas powder and heavy florals tend to send me running for the hills (or more accurately, the sink.) Thankfully I also don't get anything synthetic or chemical in the dry down, just that beautiful, warm, creamy caramel, for hours and hours. Whoever said it lasts forever on fabric and clothing is totally right. Much like Tihota, if I catch the edge of a sleeve or the corner of a lapel with this, I can smell it wafting from my laundry basket the next day.

This smells almost identical to Crema di Latte by Hilde Soliani. I've been looking for a creamy vanilla caramel but this scents seem to have the laconic note that goes acrid on my skin. Such a bummer Edit: I decided to wear both Crema di Latte and Madera samples for longer and note that while Madera and CdL are both incredibly similar, I don't get the acrid note with Madera on my skin. A local boutique had this on sale so I snagged a bottle, and it's very much my bedtime scent, especially for cooler weather or if I want a no brainer gourmand. This is a dense, lactonic, chewy coconut caramel, with soy candle-like waxiness that comes and goes. This may or may not be a bad thing depending on your preferences, and this may be the supposed floral notes competing with the densely sweet and chewy-thickness of the caramel. I'm still on the hunt for the perfect vanilla, but the dent in this bottle shows my love for it. Absolutely not a performer on skin, and quickly becomes a skin scent after an hour or so, but does linger on collars.

Madera is a creamy vanilla and caramel with undertones of coconut. It's warm, cozy and sweet but not cloying. It's delicious! I absolutely love this one. It's so smooth and the performance is great. It sits pretty close to the skin but longevity is good. And I can get a nice scent bubble going on if I over spray. I'm an over-sprayer anyway. This is my current favorite vanilla! I can wear it any time of the year, day or night. It layers well with many other fragrances too. Edited/ I wanted to add; I love the Omnia bottles. I love the simplicity of the design. And the glass bottles are very weighty, high quality glass with a nice cap that fits tightly. I did have an issue hen I ordered my bottle from LuckyScent though. It leaked some, the sticker was no longer sticking to the bottle. I contacted them and they asked for the photos. They sent those photos to their distributor and immediately sent me another bottle out. They told me to keep the defected bottled which was still 85% full. Great customer service!

Ok, so I totally get the reviews stating that Madera smells like vanilla candles or butterscotch. That was my first impression as well, and I thought, "meh". But then, it did a thing. Wait half an hour or so and voila! The musk and vanilla bean come through. Yes, I still get *some* nuances of butterscotch but the waxiness disappears entirely and it smells like a more complex, caramel drenched Indult Tihota. The caramel is not candy like (as in Prada Candy, which is aptly named lol) but more like caramel drizzled ice cream. It's not very burnt smelling either, which I appreciate. Madera may not have smelled very complex to me at first, in all honesty, it smelled like a cheap-ish perfume oil, but after I gave it an honest chance the complexity won me over! It's basically extra-gourmand vanilla musk, and I've been wearing it almost non-stop. I'm allergic to dairy and can't eat creamy dessert treats at all anymore (boo!!!), so this is how I get my fix :)

Reading the previous reviews, I am in the minority with the few others who get coconut first. I imagine if you took a coconut flavored syrup and mixed it with a vanilla syrup and cooked them both down until they caramelized,this is what you'd get. I'm going off a sample purchased at luckyscent. It occurred to me that I could find a less expensive vanilla and layer it with a coconut, and save some dollars, but there's something there...maybe the caramel, that would be hard to replicate. I've been hoping for a wearable coconut though. I have a rough time with it, and this is the closest I've found. I do like this very much and would much rather spray it than dab from my little vial. I find myself reapplying and sniffing. It's both comforting and uplifting at the same time. Update: I bought a decant. I really like this. It's so easy to wear. (cooler weather, as I write this).

I have always avoided sweet and gourmand scents because so many of them remind me, especially at first blush of Acquolina's Pink Sugar which makes me think 'teenaged girl'. Wow, I got a sample of this from Lucky Scent and went crazy. It was like heroin on my skin. It was not cloying or super sweet but just enough of that carmel/vanilla that makes this such a warm and comforting scent. It reminds me of melting sugar with my mom, making flan, as a little girl- when you get it just right. The hint of peach blossom and wildflowers combines beautifully with the white musk. It has great sillage and longevity for me too. My husband always comes up from behind me to hug me and get a whiff when I am wearing this. :) Great with my chemistry- def. expensive enough, get a tester first to make sure it works for you!

A yummy caramel vanilla perfume that lasts! Yes!! I sprayed some on last night around four when I got out of the shower and I could still smell it when I woke up this morning! What a gem! I am so glad I got the 100ml because this is going to be a favorite that I use very often for sure!! Very similar to Hilde Soliani's Crema Di Latte except the caramel is more prominent in this one and it's not as 'condensed milky' as Crema Di Latte which I am happy about and also lasts wayyy longer. I highly recommend if you love Maison Mataha Escapade Gourmande, Jousset Accident a la Vanille, even Mazzolari Vaniglia even thou that one has more of a cotton candy vanilla feel to my nose but also caramel.

Madera is pure yumminess all the way! I am so surprised it`s not more popular! Very natural smelling caramel with coconut shavings! This is all I get... Perfect! It`s not the cheapest perfume but it comes in a huge bottle so I am definitely buying it. So well-balanced and never gets sickly sweet, projection is lovely and pleasant, not too loud, just the right amount. I love gourmands and oriental vanillas and this fragrance is outstanding to me. I also have to add one thing: I now have quite a bunch of gourmandish niche samples and Madera is one the longest lasting fragrances right along in the line with some heavy Profumums and Montales!

This is a beautiful, warm and inviting gourmand. It's an exciting lover that makes you decadent waffles in the morning. This has notes of rich and creamy caramel, vanilla (softly mixed in with the caramel...not alcohol vanilla), creamed coconut and a touch of oily wax. Any floral notes are barely noticeable to me and seems that they are there to round everything out, keep it from being linear. The wear time is quite long at about 8+ hours and sillage is moderate (a little past arm length). This is lovely for a date night or a night you want to be wrapped in cozy goodness. I love it!

One of the top ultimate caramel vanilla scents. How does it smell? It's a 'pastry sweet' type of gourmand scent. It's sweet and 'fluffy', but not cloying or suffocating, unless you overspray. It reminds me of warm caramel macchiato (no coffee here) with a bit of lactonic note. It's cozy and comforting - perfect for snuggling under a blanket on a cold day. The purpose of this fragrance is not to smell sophisticated so I don't think it's fair to call it "cheap". I could wear it almost all year round, but it's probably best for fall and winter. I wish it came in a travel spray.

Ohhhhhhh,,, this is the dream of any gourmand perfume lover!!!!! opens with this wonderfull rum-caramel that makes you feel soooo yummy,, and some min later you can feel the musk and the flowers,, i dont know how to put it, but it has nothing to do with all these caramel gourmand perfumes that are in the market so far!!! Its hard to resist not to drink it!!! Ok,, i know, its no cheap.,, but the bottle and the box and the perfume itself justify the price tag!!! mmmmmmmmm,,, sorry, have to go,, cant stop sniffing my arm,, trying hard not to bite me!!!!

Madera is one of the best caramel fragrances I've ever tried. Heavy use of caramel, as in this case, tends to get cloying and almost dirty on most skins. But NOT in this yummy juice! All I get is caramel with hints of well-blended flowers, fruits, and musk. But the main player is definitely caramel. The only deterrent is the price for me. I cannot justify $135 a bottle just for a single note (albeit an exquisite class of caramel) perfume. If you're a gourmand lover who has the budget for it, buy it. You will NOT be disappointed. :o)

Loving thiss :D Sweet, creamy caramel with a hint of coconut. This scent is sooooo yummyyyyyyy I just want to drink it right out of the bottle. If you like rich gourmands you have to try this one. Probably the best one I have ever tried so far. I was afraid it would be very synthetic smelling but it's not! In the beginning it is a bit strong for me but as soon as it dries down it smells amazing. Lasts very long on my skin too. Can still smell it the day after. A new favorite for me :)

Butterscotch pudding and caramel- not at all synthetic. One of my favorite gourmands, the best caramel i have smelled. The bottle is also very large and i believe the price is right. Its hard to make such sweet foods smell real, but this does a fantastic job of not smelling cheap while still being delicious. My male roommate adores this fragrance and uses it sometimes to spray the room. Life is short, and sometimes you just want it to smell like caramel :)

I love this creamy beauty, I honestly don’t get too much coconut which I like but I mostly detect caramel vanilla cream... it lasted a whole entire work shift and people told me I smelled yummy/good multiple times. I also own the White Madera version and love that even more... it’s Madera plus licorice. Delectable. I’m a huge gourmand lover and these two fragrances from Omnia don’t disappoint. I also tried Platino and want a bottle of that one as well!!

Oh my, this is an amazing vanilla coconut scent! I smell what could be considered caramel, but to my nose is not as sticky sweet and cloying as caramel in perfumes ten to smell to my nose. It seems to dry down quickly to a fairly linear yet rich vanilla (similar to Yves Rocher Vanille Noir but sweeter). I love the coconut I'm getting but not sure I can justify buying this one due to the hefty price tag. Still - amazing scent! 4.5/5 STARS

This is hands down the holy grail and my personal favorite gourmand creamy caramel vanilla fragrance of all times! I've tried hundreds of gourmands with similar notes and direction, but NONE compare to this one. It does have a very striking resemblance to Hilde's Crema De Latte, that's why I love it even more. It's very comforting, condensed milky caramel smell and it lasts for a long time. Perfect for layering or alone, it's gorgeous!

"Madera" is a gourmand in all its splendor, vanilla, caramel and creamy coconut are the notes that stand out the most and make up this sweet aroma. Linear fragrance from the start, moderate projection and its longevity is not bad at all. Charming! I once heard that Gabby Loves Perfumes, the queen of gourmand, said that this perfume is beats mode, it is not! Not at all. But I do agree that it is exquisite, a must have in my collection.

Gooey-sweet, rich, creamy and just heavenly. The most decadent caramel with gorgeous gourmand vanilla and beautiful creamy coconut. I absolutely love this fragrance. Great lasting power on me, easy 8 hours on my skin and I can smell it on my pillows for days. At 155 AUD, worth every cent - and 125ml, fantastic! Not cheap, not sharp, not cloying. Exquisite, smooth and comforting. A must try for gourmand fragrance lovers!!

Well, I will definitely have to try this again. Today was my first wear test. However, my nose/sinuses are not 100% today. HOWEVER, what I could smell......smelled like sweet, milky CHOCOLATE *blink* It smelled delicious, but no caramel at all......just chocolate. Very weird. I don't mind it at ALL, but I am sure that I am going to smell a different fragrance when my nose is 100%

Very similar to Caramelo Vanilla but with better performance on me, and better cost per wear. I find that it does a disappearing act when first sprayed, that makes me think it’s no longer there but hours later I get sweet caramel & vanilla wafts again. Absolute love! Update: I prefer the scent of Caramelo Vanilla as it’s richer and stays throughout the wear.

I was starting to think that maybe I don't really know what vanilla smells like or that maybe vanilla wasn't really for me. Until I found Madera! I don't really smell a lot of coconut. To me, it smells like really rich buttercream frosting. But in an adult way; this doesn't smell like Bath & Body Works. I definitely want to own this perfume one day.

This is absolutely delicious. It smells of a cuban bakery where large tacky merange cakes are made and sugar is boiled and dulce de leche is prepared. So sweet and scrumptious. It's one of the few perfumes others can smell on me. It lasts real long too. I'm on hour 6. I need a full bottle but at $155 not sure it will happen. Little like Hanae Mori.

This is what I wanted GdT Bianco Latte to be. While Bianco Latte has a great caramel note that smells like it's burning on hot rubber tires on my skin, Madera is just smooth, sweet, creamy caramel. It manages to be sweet without being sickly. I've purchased a full bottle and can't wait to wear it on the regular.

Hey everyone! Remember the Bon Voyage vanillas from Victoria's Secret a gazillion years ago? This is Vanille Caramel and a half used bottle of it went for $149 on eBay! I still have some of that heady, deep, caramel coconut ice cream scent left, but good to know there's a (pricey!) replacement, if I dare.

Oh My Gosh this is so yummy but definitely for gourmand lovers!! I don't think it smells fake at all. Actually on my skin it truly smells like a cake. A vanilla cake. update: i've been layering this with bbw vanilla bean noel's body cream and shower gel. to me they smell almost identical.

Thick, delicious vanilla fragrance. I get butterscotch nuances wafting off my skin which is probably coming from the combo of coconut & caramel. Moderate projection/moderate lasting power. This smells how someone who works in a candy factory all day would smell.

I have a room spray from Slatkin called Homemade Cookies; this perfume smells exactly like it. Warm vanilla and caramel from beginning to end...and it smells REAL, as if I baked cookies or cakes and the scent stuck to my skin. I only wish I could afford it. :(

This perfume is pure heaven! It's so warm and sweet, like a hug in a bottle. The caramel and vanilla are absolutely divine, and the floral notes add just the right touch of lightness. I get compliments on this perfume all the time.

One of my favorites. Smells like white chocolate meets vanilla. I don't think it's too overpowering. I would wear this in colder seasons.

A true gourmand, smells exactly like a macaroon cookie. Maybe too much for hot weather but delicious for winter.

This is a nice scent. I prefer to smell like herbs, grass and ocean but I can appreciate this scent. This is a good scent for a warm breezy late Spring evening. If you've ever grown tobacco blossoms, which are easy to find in places like KMart and other locals, you might recognize the sticky resinous smell with the lighter wafting smell combined...that's the tobacco blossom refference in the description, they don't smell like a tobacco leaf, and even the leaves don't smell like "tobacco" until they've been treated and even then,only those certain types used for smoking.I don't know if they're actually in the perfume but in perfume,as we know, it's easier to replicate a scent from other materials than the actual material. Tobacco Blossoms smell similar to a lighter Jasmine or Verbena which is a flowering bush, not to be confused with the herb Lemon Verbena. Angel Trumpet,which I also have in my garden is a very heady resinous but still light scent also in this fresh/sweet/resinous category. Lilac isn't. It's more flowery and powdery. I wish I could grow ylangylang but i have grown Dill and Bergamot,otherwise known as BeeBalm,Licorice or 'Dark'Anise ...all are amazing in the summer afternoons! They are wonderful additions to a garden. If you like this scent,even though it's not a distinctly floral scent,it's not muddy or unpleasantly synthetic..... you should consider taking up gardening and track down some of those flowers I've mentioned ! ;D

This is promising! I am not a coconut fan (I used to be several years ago and I burnt myself out on the note lol) but this smells creamy, sweet, and edible as a coconut scent should. I do have to agree that this bears a striking resemblance to less expensive brown sugar style scents and even candles. In fact, I have a wax melt called Vanilla Almond from Madison Valley Candles that smells almost exactly like this fragrance. Not sure I actually want this on my skin in perfume form, but I would definitely like it as a body wash or even a body butter. This reminds me more of the Bum Bum body cream I have than my beloved Tihota, which has that sexy grown woman musk in it to differentiate it from other vanilla-based fragrances I've smelled. Madera smells more innocent than Tihota, like a sweet and playful cousin lol. It also reminds me a bit of Viktor & Rolf BonBon without that hideous (to me) orange blossom/neroli note ruining the caramel sweetness and Crema di Latte by Hilde Soliani, which is another gorgeous gourmand caramel scent.

"Madera" is a classy, refined and beautiful gourmand perfume with a top quality and mouthwatering qualities. From the start I was hooked - wonderful burnt caramel with slightly sun-tan lotion coconut, slightly powdery and very sweet yet never cloying, sharp or overpowering which does happen with cheaper, lower quality fragrances of the same type. The heart is full with heliotrope, it resembles richer version of Etro's "Heliotrope" at some points, I get the same amaretto liqueur vibe that made me love the Etro's creation. There is still caramel, but heart belongs to liquerish heliotrope and almonds. The drydown brings a slight disappointment though - mediocre smoky&gourmand caramel that fades away within 6 hours. I did like this very much, but I have to also agree with reviewers who say that it would be hard to imagine an occasion this could be worn to, a bit too sweet. Try this if you love extremely sweet perfumes and want to add something top quality to your wardrobe.

I get a large burst of caramel coconut that smells very familiar to me, almost like a candle aroma, and it smells a little burnt to me. It’s sugary and does, as some people have mentioned, smell like some sort of children’s candied cereal. It’s gourmand with a bit of floral, I get heliotrope, and it does remind me of Warm Vanilla Sugar by Bath and Body Works a bit. It doesn’t smell delicious to me like it does on other people and, although it does settle down into something subtler, it has a strange and slightly synthetic vibe to me. It’s a somewhat smoky, butterscotch, caramelised toffee for the first half an hour with hints of flowers but then the creamy vanilla ice-cream comes through with the musk. It’s light and airy, almost like Vanilla Lace by Victoria’s Secret with the vanilla + musk combo, once it dries down. It’s on the neutral to like scale for me - I’m sorry I don’t like it as much as everyone else seems too because it sounds like something I should like.

This is a scent for the coconut lover. It is a vanilla and coconut dream. I think because I associate coconut with summer its giving sun block/tanning lotion vibe BUT in an elevated and chic way. Equally Coconut & caramel forward. And though not listed on here, there is a tobacco note that gives it depth. The musk helps balance the sweetness, but she is sweet. The initial spray is very much coconut, but within 20 minutes the other notes come through beautifully. Very well balanced! After that, Madera doesn't change much. The dry down is good. This perfume is gourmand enough that I can see myself wearing Madera, especially during the summer months. I am not a lover of coconut, but the caramel and vanilla are intoxicating (in a good way). Did I just find a coconut perfume I will actually enjoy?

I never considered Angel edible personally (patchouli doesn't really seem to taste delicious after all) but this one is another story! There's noticeable caramel in, but not the smoked with benzoin kind like Prada Candy, nor it is uber sweet like Flowerbomb, it has more of a ''vanilla pudding, scented with coconut and topped with caramel sauce'' feel... It's a lovely smooth gourmand that doesn't smell synthetic and won't suffocate anyone IMHO. I'm not a fan of the drydown though - it definitely develops a slightly waxy quality, like a vanilla candle. It has soft sillage and good longevity but if you wanna try this watch out because it will certainly make you crave for high quality cream and caramel pastry!

Madera is really a top-of-the-line coconut perfume. I don't like to wear coconut on my skin for reasons I won't bore you with, but upon first spritz I admitted to myself that this perfume was "tolerable." Over the course of the next 60 minutes, it became downright "gorgeous!" As the scent of coconut butter cookies wafted past my nose, I totally forgot why I didn't like coconut. The caramel is so rich and creamy. Also makes me think of those coconut and caramel Girl Scout cookies, mmmm. Lasting time is easily 12+ hours. I consider this to be a sillage bomb, but it's not obtrusive like Angel. Highly recommended gourmand. The quality is obvious, and the bottle is enormous at 125ml.

Nice warm slightly burnt sugar, like the top of a crème brûlée with fancy vanilla. I enjoyed this, thought it could be a great choice for layering, but I got no real performance out of it.

BUTTERSCOTCH! YES IT SMELLS LIKE BUTTERSCOTCH...BUT IN A GOOD WAY. YUMMY! :)

Milky vanilla, a lot like Philosophy's Fresh Cream

Wahhhh I'm nose blind to this one.

This is such a cute perfume! For most it will likely feel quite close to Bianco Latte, especially if you’re fond of that scent or comparing them from memory. But side by side there are very noticeable differences for me. I’ve been sampling Bianco Latte for a few days and initially I thought it smelled just ok, but I’m liking it less and less with each wear. Compared to Madera, it’s much stronger and has a rubbery quality that I don’t get on well with. Madera is a lot more soft and casual. Instead of rubber, I get soft powdery florals, caramel, vanilla, and a bit of plastic. It smells like sweet plasticky little doll. There’s also a coconut note, but it’s very subtle so it doesn’t smell artificial to me. Designer vanillas are usually too heavy or blended with amber or woods and the niche vanillas I’ve tried-Bianco Latte, Tihota, Escapade Gourmand- don’t quite work either as they all use that same antique vanilla. In the case of Crema di Latte, it’s lactionic but in a buttery way and I don’t really find it to be similar. I’m curious as to the type of vanilla Madera uses that avoids those effects. If projection and sillage are a priority, I don’t think you will be impressed by this fragrance, as it wears fairly close to the skin. Personally, I feel it’s nice but I don’t think I would reach for it ever.

Unfortunately Madera was not what I expected. From the reviews and notes it sounded dreamy, and even from the sample sprayer I liked it. But as soon as it hit my skin, I got a very strong, sharp, artificial smelling coconut note for hours. Like in Yves Rocher or drugstore solinote coconut fragrances you can get for a few Euros. A very nice caramel note lingers in the background, but the coconut overpowers everything. Later in the drydown, when the coconut calms down after a couple of hours and the scent becomes more rounded, I like Madera more. It starts to smell like a very yummy, buttery, gooey caramel and vanilla gourmand with maybe a hint of fruits. It smells like sweet baked goods or a candy stand at a fair, but not too cloying. For me, it‘s not worth the wait through the coconut desaster. I suspect that this could maybe be a skin chemistry issue, so I would still recommend to sample this if you like the notes, as there are not too many good fragrances with caramel AND coconut, but I would strongly advise against blind-buying this one.

Received a free sample from LuckyScent along with a free sample of Profumo di Firenze Buontalenti with a purchased sample of April Aromatics new Coco N'Amour. Unfortunately they all smell the same to me, it must be the overwhelming scent of coconut. I keep hoping for a perfume that is so masterfully made that I think, Oh! That is the point of using coconut in a formula. But sadly, I keep smelling the same two tropes - 80's coconut + white florals bombastic plastic suntan lotion, or sticky syrup sweet coconut gourmand with more sweetness added from a toffee or cookie accord. Not my thing, I won't go so far as to say this isn't worth your time because I know I'm in the minority but this isn't special.

Butterscotch candies -the ones in the yellow wrappers. There is also a plastic quality that reminds me of my party kitchen or those plastic yellow chairs from pre school. I get the same impression from Jousset's praline maligne. My husband said it smells like sugar cookies and this is a rare occurrence to get a simple positive reaction with no objections to synthetic or chemical smells. Unfortunately my small child hates it and demanded I scrub it off. She has never had a negative reaction to a gourmand perfume before. Maybe she is sensitive to the musk although I did not find it to be prominent.

Hmmm maybe I’ll change my mind but so far it’s just OK. Sweet, vanilla, caramel, and I get a little of what smells like bread to me. That all sounds like it would be wonderful but for some reason there’s something in it that smells off..maybe it just doesn’t sit well with my chemistry.

I am not into gourmands at all, and for me it is mainly vanilla/caramel with a pinch of coconut. Too sweet for me, but I like the design of the bottle. It is a "typical" Italian caramel style for the scents. Worth trying if you like this category. I am glad I did not blind buy.
