Pu'er Tea

Pu'Er Tea is an Aromatic Earthy Woody fragrance with an aromatic, green and subtle floral tone at the opening that leads to an earthy, more solid and very slightly bitter herbaceous heart that softens to a woody, slightly smoky and earthy base. Instead of recreating a straight forward Pu'Er Tea scent, One Day Perfume Pu'Er Tea presented how the freshly plugged tea leaves evolved (aged) from the green, aromatic, somewhat herbaceous and floral bitter raw stage to a dark, earthy, smoky and woody matured stage. Many people mistaken One Day's Pu'Er Tea as a straight forward Pu'Er Tea scent and expected it to smell like the dark colour rich flavoured Pu'Er Tea they are used to. However, One Day's Pu'Er Tea is an interpretation of how the tea develops from when the tea leaves were freshly plugged while it smelled fresh, green and slightly bitter and how the scent of the tea leaves changed during fermentation and the aging process till the tea colour finally turned to Carmine red at the tea house. One Day's Pu'Er Tea is a true artistic interpretation of the journey of the tea leaves and the charm of Pu'Er Tea.

I’m a huge tea drinker, but puehr is a tea I have almost no experience with. The one tea whose smell is wholly unfamiliar to me. So I can’t say if this is the literal scent of puehr in the way that his other tea creations are. What I will say is that I smell some beautiful, smooth, green cypress, a black tea type of scent, vetiver and more musk than the other 3 perfumes in this series. I was surprised that this one is fairly light on my skin, compared to Oolong and Jasmine Tea, which are almost beastly in comparison. I really love Pu’er though and reach for it often.

The woodiest form the tea series While this isn’t a true puer smell it’s a pretty realistic dark green/oolong type scent! Fresh green and dark / Smokey throughout and eventually dries down into a kind of powdery herbalness and damp tea accord.. I can see this being worn year round and being the most versatile out of the series! Need this along with Oolong in my collection!

At first, I wasn't a huge fan. This scent really grew on me. I don't get much tea from this-- what comes through is almost medicinal, full of dried herbs in an old wooden shop. Certainly a unisex fragrance. There's not much sweetness, but the scent is gentle, warm, comforting. I think the cedar and incense are strongest here.

There’s not even a hint of Pu-erh tea. It’s not bitter—I think the scent is quite pleasant. It’s not overly sweet, with a touch of acidity, giving off a sophisticated, intellectual woman’s vibe.

Eh, maybe I am just not One Day's target audience. Beyond wanting more creative liberties from their other scents and finding them a bit *too* photorealistic for my taste, I just think tea fragrances are notoriously difficult to master. I'll admit that I have no experience with pu'erh tea, unlike One Day's other scents. Whether or not they got this one accurate to it's namesake, I can't comment on. What I can comment on is how this just smells like a somewhat ordinary patchouli-fest to me. I suppose that in reading a description of what pu'erh tea actually is, I expected something a little more sour, fermented, funky (which, in One Day's defense, is a baseless assumption on my end, given that I do not know what this tea smells like after it's actually been steeped). There's maybe a tinge of that in here, but not in a bold or defining way. I bought this Pu'er Tea sample in response to not meshing well with my sample of Chasing Scent's Slow World, but maybe I need to do my due diligence and smell real pu'erh tea before setting expectations about what these fragrances will smell like. It's fine, and even pleasant, but just unremarkable and not worth it to me... especially at $155 for 60ml.

This has a smokey element that makes itself known at the very beginning, that incense note is truly present. Knowing that, I only like it as a scent based on tea and not as something for myself. I think it does a good job representing that sort of element within pu'er. The only one of the One Day Tea line that completely faded on the paper test strip I was holding onto (about 12 days).

Pu-er is almost the only tea I drink, but sadly it is not the main note in this perfume. For the record, my skin chemistry tends to make things powdery. The patchouli and incense came through the strongest and combined they made a scratchy, sharp smell akin to incense ash mixed with your old grandmother's floral hand soap. Baby powder if you will. Pu-er leans woodiness, which is certainly lacking with just the barest hint of cedar floating below the powdery soap. If you try hard enough (gotta squint to use that nose!), you may catch the fresh, sweet tea leaf note that wraps around the edges at the start. Disappointed it didn't work for me--definite pass because it smelled detestable.

I really admire one days artistry. I’ve never had pu’er tea so I can’t speak to the scent’s realism, but it’s very smoky and roasted. It’s impressively done but not for me. Almost smells like campfire smoke

I ordered Pan Sevens Aged Tea and Oolong and got 2 samples from One Day, those being Oolong and Puerh. My life revolves around tea, I'm an avid puerh drinker with tens of aged cakes of over a decade old and shu puerhs are my daily driver. I was excited about this perfume, but honestly when I smelled it smelled and still smells absolutely foul. It's something like putrid sweetness. I really wanted to like it, and I've been trying it on my skin/paper for the last week or so, daily... I still can't get to even stand the smell. The oolong on the other hand has an interesting smell, wouldn't categorize it as tea, mostly like a musty cigarette pack, but this one, there's some weird sweet putridness I can't shake off. And not putrid in a good way, as hei cha is, it's putrid in the worst way possible. Edit: I still can't find any trace of puerh tea in this fragrance, because there's none. I love smelling the dried/wet leaves of either shu or sheng puerhs, and this one is not even remotely close to any of them. I think I emphasized it enough when I said it's putridly sweet (on skin, test strip, clothes)

I have not drunk/tasted puer tea as a beverage. So I have no idea what the tea smells like. Correspondingly, I had no idea what a perfume would smell like. I think this one leans woody and leathery. Very very leathery. Vetiver. And it reads more masculine to me. I got this as a package of travel set, and I guess this is my least favorite from the tea collection. It’s just no. I love Jasmine tea from this line: realistic and so well made.

There isn't any pu-erh to be found in this scent. I do drink pu-erh and I have many cakes that range from hay-like to fishy in aroma. This perfume has none of that. With that being said, it is a nice, calming, and meditative woody scent. Earthy, sun-warmed cedar with the balsamic coniferous lift of cypress and a touch of vetiver rounding it out. There is a gentle incense underneath the scent that warmed the wood with soft tendrils of smoke. There is a touch of something floral. That floral accord isa bit white and clean. Perhaps that is the pu-erh? It's not like any pu-erh I have tried, but I haven't tried them all. It's a really nice scent for of calm, wood-forward scents. Just don't expect any manner of tea to radiate through its woody grains.

To echo others, I think the pu’er name is misleading. At least from the pu’er teas I’ve tried, I was expecting something a bit barnyard and hay-like. HOWEVER, once you separate the scent from the name, this is a beautiful, nuanced woody fragrance. It’s fresh and even a little effervescent. It’s not overly complicated; the person who wears this is a bit chic and unaffected. Separate it from the name, experience it objectively, see what you think.

smells like chinese incence in the opening. after 10-15 minutes it dries into earthy hot brewed unsweetened red tea.. its a pleasant scent for people who grew up in those cultures, however i dont find it pleasant to wear in hot weather ... i prefer encre indigo which smells more like watery cold unsweet red/black tea and wearable in hot weather

On me it smelled so similar to Aesop's Rozu.. the deep woody scent, the patchouli earthiness, the vetiver. But it did not invoke any Pu'erh tea. I wanted to love it, i love pu'erh tea. But i cannot detect any in this scent. Its not unpleasant, its just misleading.

So far, this smells like Aesop Rōzu without the rose note
