Helium [2He]

Helium is a fantastic scent for the current season, and one of the few tobacco-based scents I can tolerate. I’ve had it for a couple of years now, but I rarely reach for it. I treat it like a precious, rare elixir, and not because it’s particularly hard to find, although not exactly easy to locate in the U.K., either, but because, like my POL Luctor Et Emergo, I absolutely dig it, but I’m not sure if I’d pay over 100.00 to buy it again once it’s gone. Am I the only one who does this, and is this weird?? *giggle* This is a dry-cinnamon, juicy cherry-tobacco scent with just the right touch of benzoin and styrax to add darkness without feeling like you’re in an opium den. Resinous without stickiness takes real talent, as does blending in patchouli and rose without the two scene-chewers completely taking over. In fact, it’s difficult to pinpoint a few of the accords, and I think that kind of blending takes a masterful nose, as Helium would surely be a wholly different scent without any one of them. The guiac wood accord—one of my favourite woods—anchors the mix, as this, the oakmoss and the patchouli keep Helium from going into cloyingly sweet territory. Has this type of scent been done before? Yep, but remember, that while one fragrance will remind you of another, there really aren’t as many true “dupes” as you may think; I own Dolcelisir (really surprised this isn’t on the “reminds me of” list, and I tried to add it, but it wouldn’t take) and while they’re strikingly similar in the beginning, there’s no contest when it comes to quality. Helium wins, hands down, because while Dolcelisir stops firmly in synth-vanilla-gourmand, Helium keeps travelling, taking me with it on its olfactory trip. I’m moving my bottle to the front for autumn use, man!

This is another very original smelling offering from Nu_Be that is honestly quite difficult to describe (especially at 12:30 at night!). I get a bit of a boozy opening for the first few minutes, that then transitions into a subtle citrus, by way of bergamot, and floral in the form of a gorgeous iris concrete and a svelte damask rose note. The scent seems to remain unusually close to the skin in the opening, but once warmed up sufficiently, it blooms quite well into a unique and very difficult to place accord that I'd say has something to do with a combination of dry wood, herbaceous clary sage, lemon-esque benzoin and maybe a little tobacco hovering in the background. The duration of this scent seems quite acceptable and this heart accord lasts quite a while before You're treated to another metamorphosis based around dark patchouli and one of the smokiest vetivers I've come across. In fact that smokiness is there from almost the outset, but it doesn't seem to reveal itself as vetiver based until we dry down quite a bit. All in all, I really dig Helium. As far as my personal tastes go, it's close to my favourite from this house, depending on the occasion, but not top of my list for a bottle buy. It's a smokey, warm, herbaceous and woody number that sucks you in with its floral, feminine side to begin with, before taking you for a cigar and a cognac in the latter stages. Great work indeed! I loved the way Helium used to smell, but sadly, I think it might have been reformulated. I bought this year of release from luckyscent with the OG purple lettering on the styrofoam container. This has become extremely hard to find and the fragrance from the new black letter packaging smells like raid bug spray off my skin This review will be based on the 2012 original with purple lettering This is a very rich strong sweet spicy tobacco scent with a robust guaiac wood backbone that makes this fragrance feel heavy, but without feeling annoying or cloying. This also stays pretty linear throughout its lifespan. Off the top, you are going to get a dry powdery cinnamon tobacco well blended with a deep guaiac wood note and a sweet smooth vanilla smell coming from the benzoin. As Helium begins to dry down the styrax and patchouli become the major players in this scent. It develops and dries down into a rich earthy and spicy slightly floral ambery smell with slight hints of chocolate coming from the iris and patchouli.

Another beautiful creation from Nu_Be, Helium [2He] is less a literal interpretation of the element's "scent" but rather an impressionistic representation. Created masterfully by Sylvie Fischer, Helium is a warm, intoxicating scent of benzoin and spices. Cinnamon is featured prominently, though I must add it is a natural, woody cinnamon not a synthetic "candy" variety. There is a beautiful intermingling between the styrax/benzoin's balsalmic and vanillic notes, with the spicy, gourmand qualities of the included cinnamon. Sweet tobacco leaves along with patchouli create a very subtle smokiness which is quite delicate yet rich in depth at the same time (far from incense-like territory). Rose and powdery iris concrete are added to soften the more masculine notes, but are definitely relegated to the background. Easily unisex with a slight more masculine leaning. Exquisite in fall/winter and will easily garner its wearer with numerous compliments. (125)

Opening with a fleeting note of bergamot and then a good plume of benzoin, Helium [2He]'s welcome then transforms into a spiked vanilla-like haze with styrax and cinnamon. And yes, the haze is there, like a ride in a helium balloon, offered as a powdery miasmic infusion of iris and clary sage without being obvious to the nose. And right here is where the departure from Ambre Narguile is apparent--in contrast Helium [2He] is dry yet still delicious without reducing down into a heavy confection. I really love the tobacco note in this--a gently fresh, sweet rub without the dry smoking burn. The guaiac and vetiver however do offer a dry woody facet with a well-balanced subtle dirty sanding. Patchouli anchors Helium [2He] well in the dry down, providing some cozy warmth. I much prefer this to Ambre Narguile as it gives me room to breathe and is rather serene and contemplative.

Wow! What a beautiful fragrance! This reminds me a walnut cake with cinnamon! It's high quality, well blended, beautiful gourmand scent. The cinnamon has the main role with a bit of tobacco, some liquor sweet accord and some woods. This is very smooth and natural smelling! The performance is not the best part of this fragrance. It lasts about 5-6 hours on my skin and projects nicely for about an hour. This is very versatile, you can wear it everywhere, anytime even in summer nights if you control your sprays. Overall, i love this! I got it for cheap, brand new and i think that this was the steal of my life. I don't know if it worths the 110 retail price because of it's weak performance but the smell is absolutely beautiful!

God love it. Younger brother Ambre Narguile, Son of Deeply MariaLux and cousin Haram. This is much hotter than the other and both are all good. I love it. I sort like this: Smell: 1000/10 Projection: 9.5/10 Longevity: 9.5/10

Wonderful, warm and sweet scent of cinnamon, benzoin and apple (I can smell it, I really do!), with a touch of clary sage in the beginnig. It lasts on my skin 8-9 hours

An immediately likable spicy tobacco scent that smells an awfull lot like Ambre Narguile. Fans of Ambre Narguile know it for its warm and rich bakery notes of honey, cinnamon, and vanilla. It's heavy and dense and smells like a sweet pastry brought fresh out the oven. Helium is similar, but it's drier, and lacks the gooey warmth that comprises the texture of Ambre Narguile. Helium feels pricklier, a little spicier, and less dense. It's airier. I'm giving this a neutral rating because it almost feels like a blatant copy of Jean Claude Ellena's gourmand masterpiece, and I love the richness and thick texture of the original, but by itself Helium is actually pretty good. In fact, if you enjoy Ambre Narguile but find it too heavy to wear, this could be the exact alternative you're looking for.

"Helium" has many similarities with one of my biggest love stories - Haram by Brecourt. Both have loads of sweet, spicy dried fruit and beautiful warm amber. Probably if I haven't tried Haram first, I'd settle for "Helium", but I'm very glad I didn't. "Helium" lacks something. Even though it opens and develops beautifuly, dry down brings dissapointments, where Haram is smooth and sweet, "Helium" appears almost bitter and earthy, nevertheless it might appeal to some as this makes "Helium" more unisex. It also lacks in staying power, not more than 5 hours on me. Even though I appreciate the expierence "Helium" gave me, I doubt this could be a full bottle worthy given so many other similar creations that are far superior.

Helium is one of the strongest of NU_BE house suitable for spring/fall, day and night. If you love cinnamon try it. I get strong spicy sweet cinnamon from the opening and it remains quite linear. It has a semi-gourmand quality. The opening is in your face and it's a little nauseating but in some minutes it calms down. Helium smells better in the air and not from up close so do not stick your nose on the skin. I get dominant & heavy benzoin, heavy, spicy & strong cinnamon, smooth tobacco at the background, very mild patchouli & guaiac wood with faint rose. The rest notes are very faint. It is a long lasting scent with moderate sillage and heavy projection for half an hour. Totally unisex.

Pungent and persistent, but at the same time sweet and complex, the scent of cinnamon is undoubtedly one of the absolute protagonists of this fragrance together with the black cherries that are not present in the pyramid, yet distinctly known. A fortified base, vaguely a cherry, a hint of bitter almond and marzipan, I smell and think about Christmas

41)yes really close to Ambre Narguilé, it's really a nice variation heavier on cinnamon, more dry in its evolution, less sweet in base. Nothing really different. The longevity and sillage are perfect, for quite half the price of Ambre Narguilé it's a bargain.

Based on the notes I expected to love this. At first it was very appealing and enjoyable, but after about 3 minutes it became something completely wrong. The notes are present but it feels that they are in such strong concentration that it becomes a nauseating scent. I truly wanted to love this one, and perhaps I would have if it had been toned down a bit, but it's not for me. And I'm usually one for sweet scents. I will say that the tenacity of this one is excellent. I tried to wash my hands several times to get it off and it stayed despite the washing!

This house drives me crazy. The diversity of their offerings, the blends, their concepts, aesthetic, quality...everything. From the notes list, I was honestly ready to dismiss it but I've to say Helium is another winner. A somewhat familiar oriental which while sharing similarities with several other fragrances, it's still able to mesmerize for its weightless character. Yes, comparisons with Ambre Narguile are probably right but Helium is way less sweet, not honeyed and overall spicier. There's also some of the woody-cinnamon combo already found in the original Comme Des Garcons EDP from 1994, the warm resinous spiciness of Noel Au Balcon and even *distant* echoes of Songe D'Un Bois D'Ete (minus the skank). The best part, though, is that such a potentially cloying theme, is handled with much sophistication and elegance to never result heavy, overwhelming or derivative. On the other hand, given the packaging, who is expecting something over the top or avant-garde, be ready for a major disappointment. Helium is a modern revisitation on a classic theme. For those who care, sillage is great as well as projection. Now, put this stuff in whatever *fancy* niche bottle, add a bunch of *luxury-clichè*, and it will immediately become the next hype. Rating: 7.5/10

Ambre Narguile, Haram, and Helium could serve to be a parallel for the story of Goldilocks and The Three Little Bears. Where the Hermes creation could be too boozy for some, Brecourt's oriental is hefty with spices and NuBe playing it safe feeling just right. Let's talk NuBe: It's a stripped down version of both Narguile and Haram. The opening isn't gonna stupefy you as it's a been there done that cinnamon, tobacco, benzoin combo. Helium could go down as one of the best skin scents in its category. It's undeniably succulent with the sweetest of the sweet resins you can find. Personally, i would of loved to experience more tobacco but the other blends comforts my emotion. With longevity, sillage and projection being the obvious achilles heel, one can only imagine that the real value lies within the price and the contrariant novelty of it being an unfamiliar house.

REVIEW | 100 ml EDP purchased via Scent Warehouse. You can pick up 100ml of Helium for £38-50.00 on eBay and at that price it's well worth the money. Why? because it's really similar to Hermes Ambre Narguile and Oajan by Parfums De Marly. It's kinda like a slightly lighter, airier (and smokier) version of the aforementioned pair which, as we know both cost a fortune. Hmmm what analogy could I use to explain... Roland Jazz Chorus 120 = Helium 2He Fender Twin Reverb = Hermes Ambre Narguile Marshall 100watt head & two 4x12 cabinets = Oajan by PDM I have all three and after spraying them on my arm I asked my four in house Angels to ascertain which is which. They liked them all commenting that the notes were very similar but the intensity and projection were the main difference. Rather surprisingly 3 out of 4 Angels preferred... Helium! It's a funny old game Saint. ;)

Cinnamon BLAST.. with sweet tobacco patchouli and a mild sweet notes. This is a tricky mouthwatering tasty and not edible fragrance! you feel an exact sweetness of an un-edible desserts! quite interesting and superbly captivating simi-gourmand fragrance. Although it doesn't stay that much on my skin but i can't denied that it is quite captivating. A huge thank you to "Alberto Borri" for giving me this sample at the esxence 2016.

It has a warm, enticing aroma of benzoin and spices that I cherish as a valuable, rare elixir. Cinnamon is extensively emphasized, however it is a real, woody cinnamon, not a synthetic version. The balsamic and vanilla notes of the styrax and benzoin blend well with the spicy, gourmand attributes of the cinnamon. Easily unisex, with a subtle masculine slant.

This sexy spicy stuff makes you smell like fresh baked apple pie. Nice and cosy and trustworthy. Lasts pretty long and isn't too overpowering in warmer weather.

I don't think a real man would like to smell like an apple pie ??!!!
