Black Strap Betty - coffee-scented zen for a rural witch. This isn’t perfume - it’s a potion. A heady brew of cloying molasses, venomous espresso, and the metallic echo of a mixing bowl big enough to knead dough for an entire village. There’s no gloss here, no Parisian pâtisserie - just raw sweetness, sticky edges, and spices shaken out of a dusty pantry. It opens like an ambush: thick molasses (or boiled-down condensed milk?), a flash of cinnamon and clove, a tang of metal and maybe even a drop of diesel. The name delivers on all its play of words: black strap as in treacle, as in bunker fuel, as in coffee so strong it could raise the dead. Then it all softens. What’s left is a gentle trail of spiced coffee, like the last warmth from an aluminum cup left beside a windowsill. It’s rough around the edges and sincere. That’s the beauty of Black Strap Betty: she doesn’t belong to cities of boutiques and sophisticated bouquets. She belongs to a parallel rural New Zealand where a cow is chewing grass with meditative wisdom, a man in oil-stained overalls is fixing something with eternal patience, the kitchen smells of fresh buns, and in the corner, a towel embroidered with “Betty” hangs quietly above the stove.
