Onskad 50'

Instant like. Best for those who appreciate fragrances of the titular decade. Such a beautiful chypre with a balanced animalic undertone, coupled with bright perfumy florals that translate to aldehydes and narcissus to my nose. The oakmoss isn't real, which is no surprise for a fragrance from this decade. Overall, this fragrance is an ode to the fragrances of yore without being relegated to a caricature. Edit to add an interesting comparison: I'm sampling 50' again, but this time I'm comparing it with the ORIGINAL and highly sought Lancome Climat Extrait. I have a perfect-condition late 60s bottle of it and have dabbed it on, side-by-side, with 50'. Besides making me grieve for the regulatory overreach of IFRA that has made modern perfumery blander, flatter, and sadder, this comparison reveals a similar aldehyde-narcissus accord, though Climat's is much, much better, despite being more than 50 years old. (It is truly a legend.) 50' brings the animalic, slightly funky undertone that is absent from Climat in addition to a yellowy rose. 50' is no clone of Climat, nor is it trying to be, but you can see the homage it is paying to the great classics. ...I just wish perfumes would be spared the enshittificaton that every other product in the world has been subjected to...But that's a commentary for a different time and place.

This was a blind buy, I don't remember now what drew me to the notes and to want to buy it. I hate it so much! Based on the description and notes, I expected something elegant and feminine. The yellow rose is overwhelming and makes me cringe. To my nose, there are virtually no other notes.

Those who regret those oriental perfumes such as Opium or Cinnabar should try this one. One of the most seductive perfumes I have smelled these last years. Very elegant, chic, sexy, absolutely fantastic !

This captures the decade perfectly, it's an onctuous animal musk chypre. It smells very perfume-y. It seems to me the strongest of this brand.
