Elvie Summer Joy

This is a very pretty summery everyday scent, for office or leisurely walks on the green. It’s simple, uplifting, and joyful – as a yellow calico sundress, as the cheerful dandelion it’s fashioned after. I can vividly smell dandelions here, lifelike, fresh, with a touch of bitterness, but sweetened up by pineapple and raspberry. I don’t know what else to add. It’s good for spring and summer, but it also fits the early days of autumn, when the air is cooler, the sun is golden, and you kind of miss summer days already, so you cling to your summer clothes and play-pretend it’s still August. Then, Elvie Summer Joy has a nostalgic ring to it. For me, it embodies the feeling of summer departing, and kids doing their back-to-school shopping, half-sad to say goodbye to holidays, half-excited for the new school year to come. It’s wistful and sunlit, a bit like Ray Bradbury’s “Dandelion Wine” novel. I love this simple, modest fragrance – it definitely has a mood, a concept behind it. Plus, it’s not everyday you come across a fragrance centered around something as common and everyday as a dandelion. It’s somewhat similar to the OG Elvie but only by being clean, transparent, and youthful. If you don’t like the original Elvie, you might still like this flanker. Summer Joy is not a beast when it comes to projection, but it stays with you all day.
