Giordani Gold Notte Man

In 2014 Oriflame released men's perfumes by Nathalie Lorson in its flagship Giordani series and it was a big event in my eyes, because Giordani Notte was a great vetiver, balsamic fragrance, completely incompatible with what the brand used to release. However, these were the times when the Swedish company experimented and released quite bold, high-quality fragrances by its standards, such as Sir Avebury, Espionage, Eikon or Ultimate, or women's Mirage and Marcel. As it later turned out, these perfumes probably did not meet financial expectations and gradually disappeared from the offer quite quickly and were replaced by more and more banal compositions. Returning to the premiere Giordani Notte, this perfume confirmed that Nathalie Lorson is a master in creating high-class fragrances on a very limited budget, because I was amazed that she managed to create such a good-smelling perfume at such a low price. On the other hand, I couldn't be too surprised because Encre Noire by Lalique or Bentley perfumes, also by Lorson, were only a little more expensive. Giordani Notte had a lot of Encre Noire in it, of course this perfume was not so dark and difficult, but more accessible and bright with citrus fruits in the opening, but the earthy, although not so sour vetiver was very similar and the overall atmosphere evoked strong associations with Lalique perfumes. 2 years after the premiere of Notte in 2016, Oriflame decided to refresh the entire series, releasing all fragrances in new bottles. The name Giordani Notte added Gold and the square, angular bottle was replaced with a new one, more handy and supposedly more elegant. During such changes, Oriflame usually likes to mess around not only with the bottles, but also with the compositions, changing something, subtracting something and adding something. At first glance, it seems that the fragrance from the premiere edition remains the same, but in direct comparisons, you can immediately feel that the newer bottle has, unfortunately, reformulated contents to the detriment of Giordani Gold Notte. The scent has retained its vibe and is almost the same, but that almost makes a bit of a difference. Notte with the note Gold was stripped of some of the notes, it retained its core - light citrus fruits at the start, then burnt coffee and earthy, dark vetiver, but it became flatter. The elder Notte was deeper, darker, more complex, there was more going on in him. There were more notes in it like cypress, suede, clove, pepper, patchouli, tonka and plum. And although not all notes could be felt, it was felt that the pyramid of notes in the older version was richer and therefore the impression of greater complexity. I will write more about the composition itself when reviewing the first edition. These differences in composition, however, are rather subtle and noticeable only in direct confrontation, the newer version is basically worn equally well, only its tone is more delicate and slightly flattened. They didn't make it into something much worse, as was often the case with other refreshed, re-released perfumes of the brand. The second classic in the series, the brown Giordani Man, lost much more due to the change. Giordani Gold Notte has also had its parameters reduced, which is probably much more noticeable than the changes in the composition itself. The first version was clearly more durable and designed better. The newer Notte stays on the skin for about 5 hours, where the older version easily sat for over 7 hours. Projection is relatively moderate for the first hour, after which it becomes delicate and increasingly close to the skin. It's not the worst in terms of parameters, but it was better. Despite the noticeable deterioration of the parameters and the flattening of the composition, Giordani Gold Notte is still a very good fragrance. Unfortunately, after a few years, Oriflame also decided to discontinue production, throwing away the last gem from their best, more creative publishing period. I consider this a big loss because it was a great option in the low price range. Apparently, it was too niche a fragrance for the brand's customers. Now both versions are sometimes still available on the secondary market. I highly recommend it, especially the first one, which is more difficult to obtain, but the abridged one is also worth knowing. 8/10

I'd love to buy the whole bottle so I can wear it before I sleep. This scent is deliciously soft and sweet without smelling like fruit juice. I love the spice that comes in the dry down. It's rich it has depth, it is elegant. This scent is not so generic too. Love the bottle that comes with it, totally better than oriflame eclat style's. Despite saying I would wear it to go to bed, this is good for daytime activities too. Idk if Oriflame purposely makes perfumes that won't offend anyone in particular because I think both eclat style and this frag are kinda safe buy. Sillage and longevity can be pardoned. I won't mind repeat spraying it so that I can smell this pleasantness throughout the day. Will buying this for a younger brother since this scent smells youth, and not kinda dads frag.

There is a strong coffee note. From Oriflame's catalogue: "Italian citrusses, black coffee, black vetiver." As for me it's very elegant and classy, abit of terre d'hermes' drydown. Not as earthy and raw as Lalique Encre Noire/Guerlain Homme(or Homme Boise), but smooth and pleasant. Not very expensive, mostly costs around 20 Eur when there is discount. Moderate longevity, not bad. Good for work when you are formal dressed.
