Giordani Man Notte

I really appreciate Nathalie Lorson. He has my lifelong respect for creating such masterpieces as Encre Noire and Perles for Lalique, but also for many other compositions, he rarely disappoints. I also admire her for the fact that, like few others, she can create a fragrance on a limited budget that smells like it is from a much higher shelf than its price suggests. Giordani Notte is such a fragrance - the first and so far the best perfume created for Oriflame. If it were released by another, more respected brand in the perfume world, it would certainly be a much more appreciated fragrance. When smelling Giordani Notte, you can conclude that Oriflame asked Lorson to create something for them in a similar atmosphere to Encre Noire, but more mass and less controversial. It is not a clone, nor is it a similar scent, but you can immediately feel what inspired this composition, which is why it cannot be assessed without avoiding comparisons with Encre Noire. Additionally, the author of both perfumes is the same, who could have done it better. The name already suggests that we have familiar shoes here, the French Noire was replaced by the Italian Notte, and to add a bit of an Italian atmosphere to the fragrance, it was enriched with citruses and they brighten up the scent so much that it seems much milder and not so dark. What both compositions have in common is cypress and, above all, a very similar earthy, dark, but not so sour vetiver. Of course, Giordani Notte is not as difficult and niche as Encre Noire. It's more of a distant cousin, equally serious and fond of darker atmospheres, but more approachable and "cheerful", if one can even say that about this perfume. Finally, they were included in the offer of a company whose fragrances are intended to appeal to as many potential customers as possible. And it is indeed a nice fragrance, very nice even, but it has much more to offer, which is probably why it has not survived in the Oriflame range to this day. These are heavy perfumes, but they also have a bit of airiness and a bit of freshness thanks to the citrus fruits that greet you at the beginning of the composition. These are not refreshing citrus fruits, but slightly tart and velvety, adding a bit of lightness. And although they are in the background from the beginning and fade away quite quickly, they do not disappear completely. I have the impression that thanks to them the composition does not descend into total darkness, even though the remaining notes are of a heavier caliber. There is also cypress resounding similarly to Encre Noire, so after a few moments I smell something familiar, reminiscent of the scent of Lalique, seasoned with a bit of pepper. The vetiver breaks through much earlier than in the base. There are several notes combined with it that make it not only earthy, but also balsamic and smoky. There is a bit of smoked plum, a bit of clove sharpness and, above all, coffee. I don't smell fresh coffee beans, but rather coffee grounds. It's like throwing them into a pot and heating them until they get slightly burnt. So there is the familiar vetiver from Encre Noire, but seasoned with a large amount of burnt, smoky coffee. Later, the composition is sweetened with a solid dose of tonka, and suede also sounds in the background. The patchouli is not very noticeable here, but it probably enhances the earthy impression of the perfume. Giordani Notte is an interesting, complex, deep and elegant composition. There is no wildness of Encre Noire here, but there is similar seriousness and at the same time a lot of chic. It is a noir-style fragrance that matches a suit, for special occasions, preferably for evenings and nights, rather for a mature and serious man. The parameters are great by Oriflame standards. The fragrance lasts about 7-8 hours on the skin, but the sweet base can still be felt after a dozen or so hours. The projection is clear for at least 2 hours, then it becomes a bit quieter, but it only becomes close to the skin at the end of the fragrance's duration. Despite the considerable power and heaviness of the composition, Notte is not overwhelming, the tone is quite introverted, there is a lot of creaminess and softness. It plays beautifully, especially outdoors, when it surrounds the wearer with a warm, soft, balsamic cocoon, making its presence felt every now and then. I put this perfume on par with other Oriflame gems - Sir Avebury and Espionage - and I really regret that they were withdrawn. They were excellent in their price category. Released 2 years after the premiere of Giordani Notte, the refreshed version in a new bottle has been slightly reduced in notes and parameters. I was glad that it was better than completely ceasing production. Unfortunately, as I expected, the nature of this perfume was too niche for Oriflame customers and the fragrance was withdrawn. It was necessary to stock up a lot, because Giordani Notte remains one of my favorite fragrances and dethrones many much more expensive perfumes. 9/10

Sophisticated and wearable vetiver with smoky cypress, roasted coffee beans, and suede. I can see why Vetiver Fatal was mentioned in the 'reminds me of' section, as the opening shares similarities, however, that is thankfully short-lived and nonextant as the scent continues to evolve. Eventually, the scent begins resembling Ombre Fumee, which I also enjoy but Notte has the advantage due to its smoother nuances and overall aroma. Notte's dry down becomes extremely intoxicating, with deep smoky cypress, combined with coffee and a gentle suede accord that comes off as both comforting and cozy. It evokes sitting in front of a fireplace enjoying a warm cup of coffee, in a secluded cabin surrounded by cypress trees. All in all, a very refined, mature, subtle, and natural smelling fragrance that can be very effective in the fall.

I just got this today from Poland. First impression... The best of all! I'm getting all of the notes with a very pleasant smokiness. I'm totally happy with this blind buy.

My friend give it to me but I must say that I don't like it. I can't smell any coffee note just cypress and vetiver too strong but not longlasting. I refer the original Giordani Man. This one maybe better on winter night it's warm and spicy.

Very sensual but elegant scent. It is also better than the original Giordani Man, I think. After the fresh ,spicy peppery opening Notte becomes warmer and more exotic. I'm not a big fan of leather note but in Notte leather is so well blended with coffee and clove. I can't smell plum in it. Very manly scent without sweetness for colder days or cooler summer nights. Recommended above 30 years.

An interesting scent from Giordani Man after all . It must has to do with the nose Nathalie Lorson. It's a masculine/classic would say . Full of citruses in the oppening , Cypress follows and stays longer for sure. Feels like bitter orange is included. Apropriate for a man at his 40s.Best among Giordani series.
