Love Potion Sensual Ruby

A very successful composition. The sensual opening notes entice with juicy orange, intensified by berries. The overall effect is simultaneously sweet, with a subtle weight that adds a noir-like depth. As the fragrance unfolds, chocolate notes emerge—closer to velvety cocoa than sugary dessert. Both sillage and longevity deserve high praise; even at the end of the day, the perfume can subtly remind you of its presence on fabric. The bottle, however, is somewhat polarizing; its ostentatious design may not appeal to everyone.

I really like sour red berries and cedar accord that you can feel quiet some time. But also, there is some heavy note in the middle that feels cloying, cheap and not sophisticated. Is that nuts in caramel? Anyway, this is ruining the whole flow and idea of “sensuality” in my opinion. The “ruby” chocolate mentioned in the description smells like some sweet soapy berry to me as well. The full experience of this smell is not that “gourmand” to me. I think overall, for the given price tag, that could be an okay fragrance to wear during late February / March when warming spring sunshine breaks through melting ice but it’s still too chilly to wear something airy and light. Also, the longevity is fine, but do not expect too much sophistication out here.

I have the original Love potion and both of the flankers, so I was really excited about this new arrival. Unfortunately it disappointed me. While it has the DNA of the original Love Potion, without the booziness it is just a soapy red berry without much character or originality. It reminds me of the VIP scents of Oriflame and they were also not the best from the said label. I will stick to my other three potions and skip on this one.

Blind bought this because the notes sounded really interesting. This smells nearly identical to Britney Spears midnight fantasy. So might as well go for that as it’s cheaper. The bottle is kinda cool though.
