Midnight Magic Elvie

I was so curious about this bc of the purple flowers and the berries and that's why I blind bought this. I wouldn't say i regret it but it doesn't really deliver the promise I think. It's a fresh and light fruity floral that has a cool vibe, and it is very girly too. I just expected a bit more density and sharpness maybe bc of the listed notes. Also cute bottle. It's pretty light and has a sheer vibe, sort of like a purse perfume for gym days too I think.

The opening is enchanting, caressing the senses with juicy blackberry. The sweetness of this ripe fruit is enriched by delicate citrus and floral accords. It quickly settles into an intimate, well-blended sweet, feminine composition. Light, pleasant to wear, and ethereal, this flanker is very interesting and worth trying. Yet, despite its undeniable charm, it remains a step behind the original Elvie.

Fruity-sweet- floral with some wood. Has nothing to do with original Elvie, not my cup of tea, but it is an interesting scent because of few very intriguing notes. Not really my type of fragrance, it has nothing in common with original Elvie, except for the glass vial design. I love original "Elvie", although not a long-lasting fragrance, it is one of my favourite ones, ever since I first tried it and I layer it with my diy lily oil pefume, it is a perfect match for my skin chemistry and I keep repurchasing it when on sale (for like 8 euros) for few years now. This one, however, is another type of fragrance completely. It was a gift, and after testing it for some time I find it ok it on an occasion, but not something I would buy or wear in general. It has some notes that I really like and some that I really dislike. It is definitely fruity-floral-sweet with some woody and slight green notes at the end. Opening notes are really unique, it has some appealing and magical quality which evokes that first old Avon`s Surreal, which I loved. I like this first opening note which is very blackberry and blackcurrant on me, but it disappears in few seconds. I don`t get any citruses here, but I do get some sweet note which I absolutely dislike and I think I would love this fragrance way better if it did not have that specific sweet note. I also love bluebell, cedar and rosewood in this combination, I don`t get musk really, not even at the end, this sweet note is just overdominant. I love how these wood notes come out after an hour or two, I love woods combined with florals and they indeed can create a very stroy-telling type of fragrance when matched well. However, this sweetness ruins it in my opinion, but I`m sure there will be those who love it specifically because of that sweet note. Design of the phial is really beautiful. In all, t evokes that fairy forest and night magic feel, with recognizable Elvie`s pebble-looking phial, with beautiful violet liquid and lid that looks like a moonstone, with interesting white-opalescent texture and violet-blue iridescent sheen.The box is also really enchanting and beautiful, it is very fairy-like, depicting twilight-blue forest with some intriguing trees. (original Elvie also has new packaging and beautiful new box too, 5 stars for new packaging designs). Longevity is a bit longer than original Elvie, this one lasts for about 4-5 hours, especially on clothes and hair. Sillage is relatively intimate, that first magical note, which is stronger, evaporates in seconds, but then the scent sits closely to the skin - but this is eau de toilette,just like original Elvie, and is marked by Oriflame with 2/5 scent strength so I did not expect it to be long lasting fragrance. It is definitely very young female type of scent, with all the florals, warm woods, blackberry and that sweet note that I really dislike. If you can get it on sale, like original Elvie, (which can be bought for 8 Euros here when on sale), I think it is quite affordable. After wearing it for some time, I discovered that this specific fragrance, for me specifically, creates a very beautiful harmony when layered with my true rose oil perfume that I make myself (it is not a sweet rose, but that dusty, green, true floral rose) and that rose brings out both blackcurrant and wood notes and reduces a bit that sweet note which I dislike in this fragrance. For me, this layering with rose works well, it gives more floral-woody-berry result, instead of fruity-sweet-floral. I think that packaging, both the phial, topper and the box give much more story to this composition than a fragrance itself, and the opening note indeed is something magical, it is a shame it disappears that quickly, and it is not worth the buy for 2 seconds of that note. Sweetness really diminishes potential of what it could be very enchanting and lyrical scent, but then again and again, skin chemistry always plays important role and we are all unique. As I said, I love original Elvie, and this one is nothing like it, not my type of scent and I would not buy it with my own money. As it was a gift, I will use it up, layered with this rose oil to cover this sweet note, and I do find that it has some mystery to it if you can find a way to remove or camouflage this sweet note, which I managed to do in a way with this layering. If you prefer romantic or sweet and fruity scents that do have something more in them, this may be something to your liking, but if you are, like myself, fond of ephemeral, aquatic and ethereal or woodsy green scents that create some narrative in a bottle, this one is not really in that category. It does make a beautiful gift for romantic, fantasy-loving person, both with the box, phial and fragrance.

It smells magical indeed!! Mysterious beautiful opening that surprised me and doesn’t reminds of of any other Oriflame fragrance. Unfortunately ends up like all girly fruity floral Oriflame fragrances. Annoyingly sugary and must be cheap musk or something I cannot stand on my skin. Disappointed expected more for an Elvie release. I don’t see the reason to be marketed under the Elvie umbrella as it doesn’t remind me anything of the original.

The scent is pretty (although not something I’d buy in any scenario, just not my preferred scent profile), but performance is really poor. More in the body mist department. Not worth even the Oriflame price tag for this reason.
