Reve d'Ossian

Scent: 10 I have discovered this perfum thank to a free sample that i have recived when i have bought a different one by eBay. I smelt It and i felt un LOVE!! And i couldnt avoid to buy It! I never liked the frankibcense smell. I am not religious at all and i never liked the smell of the chuches: incense, myrr... But, i dont know why i cant stop smelling this perfume. It makes me fly to the catedral of a town (Santiago de Compostela) very clóse of the town where i am from (A Coruña) and where the oriest throw a thing called botafumeiro with burning incense inside. And It remember me to the smell of the streets during the oster (overall un the área of Andalucía because un my state is not as important as there). The day i have tried this fragance one girl from Andalucía told me in the the middle of the streets: "sorry, could i ask which os tour perfume. You have made me remember the semana santa of Sevilla when you passed by me". It was the first and only time un my whole life that someone unkniwn stops me in the street to asn me about my oerfum! Longevity: 10 The day i tried It i wear a coat un that one week later i could still feel the incense smell. This perfume is very elegant and balanced but bit very powerful. Nevertheless lasts forever. Sillage: 7 The sillage if this fragance is not bad but not beast Mode as well. It creates an elegant and discreet aura around you, what makes It suitable for any ocasión. Versatility: 10 As i have said before i see this fragance suitable for any ocasión and any season of the year. Even so this is not q perfume suitable for anybody. It doesnt follow fashion and is very different to the best sellers like one million, Invictus or 212, so i recommend to try It before buying. Quality/price: 8 I have paid 70€ for 50ml. The perfume is not cheap but attebding to his quality and originality i think It worths what It costs. Global: 9

What a beautiful scent. I'm pleased to write this up as my first review. After a while spent browsing, I finally pulled the trigger and created my account just so I could relish in this scent publicly. The opening alone on this is captivating. The frankincense is warm and spicy and it's very comforting in the cold weather. In the sharper notes, you can clearly make out the green sappy pine; for obvious reasons, I will revisit this scent in December. I almost smell an orange pomander and black tea lurking underneath before the amber is revealed, possibly from the cinnamon and tonka reminding me of chai. Sandalwood rests at the base, and the silage it has on my skin is excellent-- just a dab on one(!) wrist and I can smell it all around me. To me, the greatest sweetness exists only in the middle, and dissipates as the base settles in, which isn't a problem for me. I thoroughly enjoy the comparison to church benches. The warm wood reminds me of the wooden chairs that my family acquired from a church rummage sale that carry a similar, resinous scent. The musk on the dry down is still admirable if you enjoy musk, but it's not as remarkable as the first half of this fragrance; I still can't move past the top notes. I just wish the opening lasted longer, so much longer.

What a frabjous delight Reve d'Ossian is to the wearer. This is not nearly as an austere as one might expect from an incense. The opening is a cornucopia of pine needles and cones, frankincense, and spices with a flare of aldehydes and smoke, sonorous and festive. A morning incense and a real treat for the senses, certainly one of the more remarkable openings I've smelled as of late. Eventually, what stirs to the surface are rich resins and amber, less fanfare and more repose but no less cheerful. Frankincense is eclipsed by the mildly toffee-like opoponax, and there is the sensation of mahogany woodiness (perhaps the church pew association?). I have the urge to open an old tome and get lost in another time and place. Reve d'Ossian is an elsewhere scent ("reve" being dream in French after all). I think of the word reverie. A cheerful reverie under winter sunlight. The base is more dusty and leathery, sort of like that melancholic feeling you get after meeting with old friends and the time has come to say goodbye and you reflect on the joy and on the beauty of the bonds shared. Quite reflective, a salving the wear with a blanket of comfort.

Growing up, my favorite story was Thumbelina by Hans Christian Anderson. She was born from a little flower and slept in a bed made of violet petals and rose leaves. Her best friend was a swallow who rescued her from some frogs in a swamp, and took her to a field of flowers where she met and married a little fairy prince. I read this story again and again growing up. Reve d'Ossian is like that story in a bottle. The opening is this beautiful soft pine with aldehydes and a mix of delicate florals. As it wears, it becomes a warmer cozy little blanket of flowers enveloped in opoponax with a church wedding incense; exactly like Thumbelina marrying a little fairy prince in a field of flowers. This is the second perfume I own from this house and I'm so impressed. There are so many layers and levels of nuance in their perfumes and they wear and unfold like fairy tales. Reve d'Ossian is Thumbelina and Relique d'Amour is Briar-Rose (Sleeping Beauty), even the gothic glass window on the label of Relique d'Amour matches the gothic glass window in the Hans Christian Anderson book!

I ordered samples directly from the boutique in Paris to get a feel for the perfumes, thinking Le Régent would be my favourite. But boy oh boy! when I smelled Rêve, I knew I’d found the perfect spring scent I had been searching for. At first sniff , the memory took me straight back to childhood, to Sunday mornings when my granny would take me to mass.It has atmosphere of an old Catholic church in Europe—where the air is cool but not cold, carrying the scent of ancient stone and well-worn wooden pews, polished smooth by generations of disciples. The opening is gently smoky, with aldehydes softened by pine and a delicate sweetness I can’t quite place. As it dries down, it settles into a warm, resinous blend of amber and musk, leather is not that prominent in my opinion. The whole fragrance feels nostalgic and serene, with no sharp edges. To me, it’s the ultimate French perfume—leaning more feminine. It lasts around 4 hours, staying close to the skin, which I actually prefer. There’s something enigmatic about it too & I would rate it higher than any Chanel perfume.

Reve d’Ossian has one of the most amazing openings I have ever smelled: A superb pairing of a magical, cooling, gently spiced frankincense dancing in unison with a sparkling, citrusy, freesia-like, modern sweetness. Celestial. Then, a round woodiness comes through, and so does a sweet, soapy, benzoin-amber accord, which will slowly dim into a flatter base. In the drydown I get everlasting tonka, vanilla, powdered sugar, and a soft, dusty musk. Not my favourite. In fact, I would have much preferred something richer, more resinous, and natural here. For a sweet incense, I’d rather have Eau Sacree or La Liturgie des Heures instead; but Reve d’Ossian clearly doesn’t want to be that. This is a more “mass-pleasing” candied fragrance that allows you to enjoy the beauty of its fizzy, piney, incensy opening and then have people around you appreciate its sweet vanilla sillage. I'd love it on a woman!

Its supposed to smell like orthodox incense (interesting) perfect for christianity freaks like me Its super intense at first, a bit too penetrating. But when the first spray dries down, it becomes very sweet, woody and unique. The smell of benzoin and pine is strong. It is definitely intense and not for everyone. It smells EXACTLY like the smell of sacredness. It takes a certain kind of vibe to pull this off successfully. It is unisex, but id say it has definiely a kind of femininity to it. I know a lot of people said relique d'amour is THE church smell. But to me this one definitely is more of a alive church full of praying. In contrast to relique d amour which is more deserted church". I dont know how to put into words. But this is DEFINITELY a smell i want to have a full bottle of. Its PERFECT for a melancholic people who love the smell of sacredness and church.

While relique d’amour is a hyper realistic wet stone church in a pine forest, this is more like the incense specifically. A warm and very beautiful incense without the typical masculine amberwood aspects found in modern incenses. This isnt smoky at all, rather smells like a box of fresh incense. Very similar to nag champa actually but less floral. I think its the aldehydes causing this, because ive always found nag champa to smell soapy and vintage. Theres also a chocolate nuance i notice that i havent seen others talk about. Not sweet or gourmand, more like the idea of dark chocolate in powdered from. Not cocoa either its SPECIFICALLY dark chocolate. 9/10, i hope to purchase this in fall. Much more nah champa than empire des indes which literally states nag champa as a note but ends up smelling like cinnamon room spray

Exactly what I needed for this autumn time of year! This is a beautiful offering from Oriza L. Legrand, with the character of a precious and sacred ancient balm. The frankincense opening is truly special, and something rarely seen in this high class of French style perfumes. Like many, I wish that opening lasted longer, but I enjoy what follows it too. There is a sweet benzoin and cinnamon harmony resting on a dry bed of sandalwood. It is a bit sugary, which I like when it's done well, and here it's perfect and I think a very good complement to the drier resinous notes. I don't really catch the musk, but I do believe it's there, propping things up and giving a little extra fixative power. All in all a lovely incense fragrance, woody and sweet and bright.

This fragrance art combined with the top notes reminds me of a Russian fairy tale in the cold woods. The amber with cinnamon and resins comes out in the opening but in the end this dries down to a straight up frankincense. I am fond of these smells as someone who was once Pagan and eventually converted to Christian Orthodoxy. These smells are very familiar to me in both religious settings as well as in hippie circles. It is mind blowing to ponder how hippie fragrances are actually favored perfumes of the middle ages (where this recipe originates). If you aren't into that vibe you may not like this. I wouldn't call it incredibly complex but it is beautifully done. Sillage is decent but not in your face, could easily become a signature scent for me.

194) Nostalgie 1900 It's quite close to a balsamic Baghari by Piguet. A surprising opening, aerial and metallic (aldehydes and terpineols?) notes of pine, old wood and foam on wet stone but it's warming gently, blowing a strange impulse to this myrrh fragrance. The smell of warm lightly ambered paper, dry almost dusty leather binder. An impression of moor in the autumn. It is so at odds with our modern conception of the perfume he could be the last release of Comme Des Garçons: Odeur 1900, without changing anything. Truly a beautiful work of resurrection of the house, all these completely forgotten fragrances are high quality, both modern in their treatment and completely faithful to the spirit of time: a real success.

This is such a gorgeous fragrance! I would describe this as an ambery take on church incense. It opens with amber, incense, what feels like aldehydes (I'm guessing that's a soapy myrrh), woods, and elemi/pine. As it develops, the aldehydic nature of it dissipates and I get cinnamon and what feels like vanilla...but I think it's the benzoin. The cinnamon and benzoin combined with the amber make this sooo good. The amber in this is incredibly smooth and warm; I don't get a lot of the labdanum/leather aspect. I would say that this is most "churchy" in the opening, transitioning into an amber-dominant scent. This has fantastic performance, lasting all day. I consider this to be completely unisex.

Soapy, sweet. hesperidic. and with a little bit of a smoky note, this smells so beautifully evocative of the early twentieth century, redolent of frankincense and opoponax. This is a greatly comforting and yet complex fragrance: I don't know how Oriza L. Legrand does it, but almost everything I've smelled by them has not only been incredibly enjoyable but also unlike anything else I've ever smelled before. What a superbly unusual house! UPDATE, 3/15/22: I'm trying a sample for a second time, and I have been receiving compliments all day. The frankincense and the opoponax are what make this so memorable. You won't smell like everyone else in this, but it is so dreamy and pleasurable!

The opening is so refreshing, pure incense, the frankincense, cinnamon, pine & elemi are so uplifting. I love this part of the perfume development most. This is a complex scent, many phases and facets, i really enjoy it. The last stage of drydown, the incense has faded in the background, the animalic musk, ambergris and leather take centre stage. Its weird because i did not percive those notes early or during development, but sadly I am not a fan of animalic musk, and the Glorious incense this was at start is gone. I still think this is amazing, and worthy of praise and recomend for incense lovers and animalic lovers. Love this perfume house, fantastic creations!

With this house the notes listed don't touch the experience. I get an initial blast of ginger and creamy wood. I feel I am entering another world. Not the fairy forest floor of Chypre Mousse. This is more magical people living in a sacred woods. As it progresses frankincense and benzoin become prominent, then settles into an amber. Sillage is lovely and delicately radiant, longevity a good 6-8 hours. The perfumes of this house so far are not overtly gendered. It is more a question does the refined, magical style suit you? Reve D'Ossian and Chypre Mousse must contain sinus-clearing herbs. I have seasonal allergies and testing these opened up my sinuses.

Gosh this is a unisex, dry spicey, but with a little sweetness heaven. I immediately thought of Andy Tauers much loved moroccan desert masterpiece. It has a lot in common with it. Im glad I dont get much of the aldehydes but I do get bucket loads of pine, incense, benzoin, labdanum, opopanax, cinnamon, tonka bean, elemi and amber. Its very well balanced and has the perfect amount of sweetness care (I guess) from the tonka bean and cinnamon. There might well be some iso E super in here but it is very low key. It probably assists in boosting the sillage. Moderate sillage and longevity. I did really expect the longevity to be really long but hey ho!

The opening of Rêve d'Ossian is AMAZING. Really uplifting and stunning. This is a warm incense, it feels very human. Absolutely beautiful. I was obsessed with smelling my arm! I have to admit I ordered a bottle after two hours of wearing this, and then I went to bed in a total bliss. Unfortunately when I woke up the next morning I realized that the drydown was somewhat different than I expected: ambery, musky, animalic with vanilla...which are not notes I love. It's still good and cosy though, and I will enjoy my bottle but how I wished it would have developed closer to the initial scent! Beautiful anyway.

One of the most beautiful witchy scents I've come across. It scratches that itch in my brain for the perfect warm easy to wear incense. Its starts with a fizzy and sparkling incense in the initial spray, kinda like when you hold up an unlit stick of incense to your nose. Slowly it starts evolving into a warm woody amber ginger, the church incense note still dancing gently throughout the wear. If CDG Avignon is a cold midnight mass church service, Reve D' Ossian is that same stone cathedral during a warm day with the doors open daylight streaming in and the freshly lit incense wafting over the pews.

Unlike the very critical reviewer further below, I don't get either Iso E Super or damp greenery. In fact, the two standout notes on me are frankincense of the lovely boswellia serrata kind (initially lemony but morphing quickly into "chewy" liturgical resin) and benzoin, adding a dry, ambery sweetness. Two sprays from a sample radiate very well, deceptively strong without coming across obtrusive or obnoxious like other incense frags (*cough Tauer! *cough). So all in all a lovely thing, ancient and modern, calming and intriguing,all at the same time.

This is the most amazing incense perfume. Incredibly realistic, it smells like an old chapel, including a wonderful incense, wooden pews and old yellowing books with crumbling pages. 'I smell an old library!' said a friend of mine. It does smell a lot like being in an old archive of centuries old books. I think it is the most amazing church fragrance, which reminds me of the Roman church Basilica di Santa Sabina all'Aventino in a bottle. Dusty, dark, old and beautiful. 5 out of 5 in every aspect

Starts with a bright, somewhaat sheer churchy incense. Brings to mind the also lovely CdG Avignon, but in a somewhat more wearable form. There is a backdrop of forest-y pine and woods. Several hours in, it warms and sweetens to soft resins, musk and woods. This is my favorite that I've tried from the line. I can see how this would be amazing in the autumn. Though not huge on projection, it is perfect for what it is. Anything stronger and it wouldn't feel as 'right'. Enchanting.

A rather unique and captivating take on incense, this gives the impression of a freshly poured glass of fancy smoked cola on ice, with the well blended spice of cinnamon bringing warmth to the sparkling chill of the aldehyde note. Fans of Comme de Garcons should check it out, especially if you love CdG 2 and Avignon - now you can have both the incense and the aldehydes at once! The other "cold incense" from this house (Relique d'Amour) is also fantastic.

Reve d'Ossian Oriza L. Legrand (new heavy gold lid bottle) Romantic incense, warm lady like. It is still piney incense i know and it is so easy to use. Probably gonna wear it tonight.. Oriza starts taking my heart space. ==== I like this than Dior Newlook, La Liturgie des Heures Jovoy and Encens Flamboyant Goutal. and if wearable Aldehydic Piney Incense - quite strong present is your thing but beautiful rendered. I only sampled and wore this out once for the first time a few days ago but I’m already itching to buy a bottle. I feel like this could nurse the wound for me that is Avignon’s shitty longevity. I’ve gone through three bottles and it’s hard to justify a fourth. They’re not identical twins, but they’re sisters. Trying to manifest a restock on fragrancenet. I should probably give it a few more wears but 🥹 👉👈

Uh, "church" should be a note with this one. It's powerful as heck and bowls you over with incense, powder, resin, and sandalwood. It does not lean animalic or ambery and stays linear and lasts a long time. For people who like dry scents that recall images of altars, belfreys, and cloisters, this one is for you. I can't believe how good this smells. Like, top shelf. Truly unisex.

This is incense taken in a wholly different direction. Whereas most incenses are dry this feels wet and creamy, like incense made into a kind of cake. There is a quiet wistfulness and at times a melancholic aspect to this fragrance. This general attitude seems to be present in all of Oriza's fragrances which makes them kind of magical. Sillage is decent and longevity is superb.

The small woody catholic church full of incense in the middle of nowhere surrounded by dark pine forest with the bakery at its back where vanilla cakes are freshly baked for the Christmas. Love after first sniff; recommended for all olibanum note based fragrances lovers. Very long lasting with moderate silage. Something special from the different world, mostly forgotten......

Heavenly and what I love the most about this is that it's not just a pure church incense, like Heely Cardinal, Avignon or Full Incense. Yes this is the smell of a Catholic/Orthodox church but it's soft, quiet, refined. It's clean, it's soapy and mineraly. DREAMY, creamy, powdery ooooh it's lovely. I want it. 9/10

Mmmmm... it’s a very beautiful scent indeed! It smells like realistic pine needles and cones: refreshing, aromatic and slightly sweet. Of course, it’s a balsamic scent - rich and comforting. But I still think that it’s on a cooling side of the spectrum. True masterpiece! My ig: scent.guide

at the opening it’s a rich sweet incense, watching a candle flamme flicker through bubbly antique glass. progressively gets a bit greyer, not in a dull way but in a foggy and cold way. ashes and smoke, the end of a decadent combustion. really love this one

LOVE this fragrance. I'm saving up to buy a whole bottle. I smell a lot of pine and spices, almost cinnamon, with a nice touch of incense. It's really well mixed and lasts forever. The only downside is it can give me a headache sometimes :(

Great incensy woody perfume with a gentle touch of green. Feel like walking into a Buddhist shrine, made of wood, filled with incense smoke and surrounded by pine tree garden. Good performance and leaning masculine. It is a love for me. ❤️

Incense with a sharp twang that gives it lift in lieu of calm...there are woody notes but this does not smell smoky to me...the box and bottle this come in are works of art on their own...absolutely worth the money...a true treasure...

The second I smelled this I knew it was love at 1st sniff. I had to have it, it is my go-to incense for colder weather or when I need to amp up & feel my inner priestess. Fantastic silage & longevity, use sparingly.

Super fresh incense, pine, with a sweetness to it. Super bright, fresh, clean but heavy and rich at the same time. Definitely evokes altar imagery.

Smells like being inside an old oil painting

The Benzoin Princess. Rêve d’Ossian unites benzoin and incense in the delicate memory of church calls, of prayers in a quiet alley. Not the cold incense like Passage d’Enfer or l’Orpheline. This magnificient juice is a comforting burst of waxy elemi. There’s a bit of sharpness coming from discreet pine notes and some cinnamon. Rêve d’Ossian is heavy, it is not for everyone. It’s meditative, it’s a call for more. This very old French house definitely touched higher truths. I would like to advise you to try and test it but I can’t. If you hate church vibes, forget it. This perfume is a sacred place in a sunny winter afternoon. It carries the warmth we sometimes seek before the altar. Very good longevity on both skin and textile. A discreet but proud sillage. Rêve d’Ossian is not an everyday thing, it’s a specific atmosphere. I wear it when I study, when I write or read of literature, of theology ... of art ! Of all the listed notes, I mainly detect of course the incense, the pine tree, the cinnamon and the benzoin. Elemi seems to give the fragrance a certain heaviness, a thick texture. But interestingly enough, Rêve d'Ossian remains flowy. I don't pick up the aldehydes to be honest. Not blind buy safe !

Reve d'Ossian is the polar opposite of the campfire-smokey, terpenic wood and incense scents we've been seeing in niche lately (Naomi Goodsir's Bois d'Ascese springs to mind). It smells like someone is making candy out of drops of golden tree resin. Very sweet - but scents tend to turn sweet on me. I really don't get any medicinal or sharp notes, it's all candied pine sap and benzoin, with a slightly fizzy uplift from aldehydes. The aldehydes are not the sneezy or retro kind that I tend to avoid, just a little "lift" in the composition. Later, I get something that smells more like fir needles than pine, and some slightly lemony elemi, but it's fairly linear. Reve d'Ossian reminds me of playing outside as a kid and rolling balls of pine resin between my fingers by the pine tree stump in our front yard. It's a pleasant scent and very easy to wear. I would suggest it as a good beginner scent to folks looking to dip their toes into woody/incense niche perfume. Good sillage, good longevity. Like.

Oh boy where should I start... It smells like a mastic flavoured turkish delight being eaten in a church. It starts with fizzy aldehydes and powdery sweetness of benzoin, cinamon and tonka. All enveloped in light incense and resinous pine. It smells like old wooden church benches, soaked in insence and opoponax through ages and also like some sort of powdery sweet resins (elemi, tonka, benzoin). Tonka beans give a smooth texture and powderyness. Longevity is really good and projection not too loud. Not a green fragrance, all composition is made up from resins and spices. No associations with forrest despite what the marketing tells you. Oriental - Spicy - Aromatic. Lots of naturals. Very original composition, something between gourmand and liturgical. All the resins can even give a yellow floral vibe but it is just your mind playing tricks. Deffinitely try before you buy.

Such a light and accessible church incense. Not as cold as Avignon and brighter on opening than Cardinal. There are aldehydes that give it a sparkle and elevates some of the incense to that almost lemony freshness but it’s sweeter than New Look. For someone easing into incense this seems very accessible and wearable but not simple. So I guess you can grow into it if you fall in love with it. Those who prefer Avignon may find it a little sweeter than they are used to. It’s beautiful and quite long lasting. My nose is well trained to my church incense being drier and less sweet so I can’t adopt a full bottle when I have plenty of other church incenses. I do think it is stunning if it’s the lone church incense in a fragrance collection. Quality and projection, impeccable. Unisex.

A spicy opening, evocative of a gingerbread house, deep in the pine forest and lined with liquorice, cinnamon and candy. This Christmassy/bakery/fairy tale vibe lingers on into the dry down, making this fragrance a very pleasant and distinctive experience. Having initially dismissed it as a 'Holiday Special', I am asking myself "Why do I keep coming back to this fragrance for more?" I wouldn't have bracketed Reve d'Ossian with classical incense-based perfumes such as Cardinal or LAVS. It is worthy of a separate categorisation: 'Essence of Hansel and Gretel' perhaps. The witch in the gingerbread house has worked her spell!

Very beautiful ,fresh pine-tree forest. Very green and very nice aldehydes. May be the most beautiful and favourite frag from the collection of this fragrance house. Pure Relaxation. Lovely and enjoyable . I don’t wanna leave this amazing forest 🌳🌲🍃🌿 ( edition ) after 2 hours I’m in the completely smooth and gentle Amber world . There’s No pine- trees anymore or green, fresh forest around me with beautiful Aldehydes. The part 1 was very beautiful like to have nice daytime in a park or green place like that and part 2 is more .. let say time to have a relaxing evening. Anyway I’m 🤙 for this fragrance.
