Derrick

My brother had this bottle with just a little bit left at the bottom. All the citruses gone but it was quite pleasant and interesting. Four years later the same almost empty bottle still smelled the same, I tought I will look it up. Starts with a B, sounds like the first name of a TV character. No wonder it took me over a year to figure out what it was. I've ordered a bottle on-line, just arrived this morning. Derrick opens without any citruses, creamy from sandalwood, something slightly bitter, something more animalic than dirty and a blend of spices that I could not separate at first apart from some cinnamon. This is usually the case when the spices constitue a dissonant accord. Pepper becomes noticeable on reapplication.Looking up the notes I cannot find where the bitter and animalic notes are coming from. Usually I am not fond of strong spices. Derrick is an exception, well rounded and wearable with gradual progression to keep it interesting. The pepper and ginger combination has become a cliche in the last couple of years but at least it takes decades off Derrick and so does the relatively short (for it's age) list of ingredients. Half of that list is shared with Bleu de Chanel and a lot with Chopard PH, examples of easy to wear. I have bought it for sentimental reasons but i think I will end up wearing it.

What a nice juice this is! Although born in '78 its never pushy or in your face, while it manages to pull the patchouli card with a nice spicy freshness that is uplifting, comforting and confidence boosting. The performance is mild, sillage and projecting are not heavy, rather gentle while the longevity is nice, lasts throughout the day if you put 5-6 sprays beneath your shirt and let it become one with your skin & body heat. Directly on skin it vanishes in 3-4 hours, thats why you gotta use it under and with your clothing & even your hair. Also, sprayed directly on clothes it produces a nice citrusy aspect which never appears if only sprayed on skin. Bottle design resembles the square shaped dashboards of 70's & 80' cars, on the verge of being classy at this stage. Love this fragrance! 1978 was a great year for designer scents with Lagerfeld Classic, Azzaro PH and Derrick being released! I am getting nostalgic....

A hidden gem. It's a nice scent, l wore Derrick about 35 years ago when I studied in High school. It's not popular but it's a great fragrance. I love it. This perfume reminds me of old memories. It has High Quality Composition with reasonable price, You can't go wrong with it. I bought a new bottle reformulation and I must tell you honestly that it is more soapy, mossy, piney, smoky and darker but old version was very Unique, more Lighter and slightly sweet, Overall, it is hard to find and I'm so happy that I have it in my collection again, Longevity is very good. Two Thumbs Up. Bravo ORLANE ! Rating : 8 /10

I bought 100ml of this from a ebay seller from Guernsey for a little over $13 (free international postage). For the price I am very impressed. It is an arid woody-spicy fragrance that at once is reminiscent of a number of excellent fragrances: Quorum, Pierre Cardin pour Monsieur and Chaps (original). The projection and longevity are not amazing, compared with powerhouse fragrances, but any stronger and it would probably lose its character. If you like Quorum, but want something toned down a few notches, this is it.
