My brother had this bottle with just a little bit left at the bottom. All the citruses gone but it was quite pleasant and interesting. Four years later the same almost empty bottle still smelled the same, I tought I will look it up. Starts with a B, sounds like the first name of a TV character. No wonder it took me over a year to figure out what it was. I've ordered a bottle on-line, just arrived this morning. Derrick opens without any citruses, creamy from sandalwood, something slightly bitter, something more animalic than dirty and a blend of spices that I could not separate at first apart from some cinnamon. This is usually the case when the spices constitue a dissonant accord. Pepper becomes noticeable on reapplication.Looking up the notes I cannot find where the bitter and animalic notes are coming from. Usually I am not fond of strong spices. Derrick is an exception, well rounded and wearable with gradual progression to keep it interesting. The pepper and ginger combination has become a cliche in the last couple of years but at least it takes decades off Derrick and so does the relatively short (for it's age) list of ingredients. Half of that list is shared with Bleu de Chanel and a lot with Chopard PH, examples of easy to wear. I have bought it for sentimental reasons but i think I will end up wearing it.

What a nice juice this is! Although born in '78 its never pushy or in your face, while it manages to pull the patchouli card with a nice spicy freshness that is uplifting, comforting and confidence boosting. The performance is mild, sillage and projecting are not heavy, rather gentle while the longevity is nice, lasts throughout the day if you put 5-6 sprays beneath your shirt and let it become one with your skin & body heat. Directly on skin it vanishes in 3-4 hours, thats why you gotta use it under and with your clothing & even your hair. Also, sprayed directly on clothes it produces a nice citrusy aspect which never appears if only sprayed on skin. Bottle design resembles the square shaped dashboards of 70's & 80' cars, on the verge of being classy at this stage. Love this fragrance! 1978 was a great year for designer scents with Lagerfeld Classic, Azzaro PH and Derrick being released! I am getting nostalgic....

A hidden gem. It's a nice scent, l wore Derrick about 35 years ago when I studied in High school. It's not popular but it's a great fragrance. I love it. This perfume reminds me of old memories. It has High Quality Composition with reasonable price, You can't go wrong with it. I bought a new bottle reformulation and I must tell you honestly that it is more soapy, mossy, piney, smoky and darker but old version was very Unique, more Lighter and slightly sweet, Overall, it is hard to find and I'm so happy that I have it in my collection again, Longevity is very good. I bought 100ml of this from a ebay seller from Guernsey for a little over $13 (free international postage). For the price I am very impressed. It is an arid woody-spicy fragrance that at once is reminiscent of a number of excellent fragrances: Quorum, Pierre Cardin pour Monsieur and Chaps (original). The projection and longevity are not amazing, compared with powerhouse fragrances, but any stronger and it would probably lose its character. If you like Quorum, but want something toned down a few notches, this is it.

wow. this is good stuff. as others have noted, newer ones may be called derrick black, but it's the same as the original derrick. if I could describe it, it's a bit like a mix between Open and Jacomo de Jacomo. both are fragrances which i love, so this one gets a thumbs up from me too!

Returning to this one again & again. Its from '78 yet manages to act modern today. Great performance also. The fresh spicy green with that bit of dirt is done to perfection here. One of the most competitive fougeres on the market! Superb!

It took me a while to warm up to like it, as I am a late-20s guy. In the opening it comes off so classic and old school masculine fragrance, but in the mid and dry down some powdery elements pop up with slightly sweet benzoin. It is on your face aromantic(lavender is not dominant), then spicy (thank God it's not cinnamon nor cardomom), but it still can be pulled off when you need something basic but grown up at the same time.

As someone who has tested this and Pierre Cardin Pour Monsieur, I like this one better. This lasted longer and the spice notes are strong but not annoying. The Cardin is a sad shadow of it's former self, that microphone has lost much of its volume.

Reminds me a whole lot of Azzaro Pour Homme. But a touch dirtier and longer lasting. I really like the stuff! Feels amazing spraying it on a cool fall day.

One of my favourite scents all the time. I wear it whenever I have stress, it cause I relax.

It's not similar to Paco Rabbane Pour Homme, but it goes in the same direction, but in hellish spiciness. You know the smell of water bottle when you let water in it for two days and it got a weird smell .. imagine that smell with a tons of nutmeg and pepper, that's it.

Disappointment, but that doesn't mean it's bad .. it reminded me a little bit of Paco Rabbane Pour Homme, but in more spiciness.

Probably the perfumer of this perfume is not alive and it is not clear what its name is But may his memory and name be eternal and cherished This is a sad perfume that was made in memory of Commander Tom Derrick, the nickname of this Australian fighter was the diver. It is known that he fought with his soldiers in Cogongrass environments, and the environment of this perfume also includes the same grassy environment. He was killed in 1945 in what is now Indonesia.

I purchased this this summer and waited for colder weather to wear it. The verdict... AWESOME JUICE! As other reviewers have indicated, this has a vintage (70's-80's) vibe. However, it somehow appears to be perfectly modern. Derrick Orlane Pour Homme is woody, little rough on the edges, and definitely masculine. The prices seem to be going up so maybe it's discontinued. So don't sleep on this one if you enjoy classic masculine colognes with a modern vibe.

A Masculine fragrance priced under 20 bucks that can give the Expensive powerhouses a good run. These guys know their stuff. Its Sharp, green, light/fresh and warm. This will deliver the goods and you will have some change in your pocket. This slots in nicely alongside the other good old budget reliables like quorum, Most Jaques Bogart Stuff, Giorgio Beverly Hills, Grey Flannel, Sung Pour Homme and Lapidus

I wore derrick 30 years ago and it was fantastic, spicy and woody longlasting fragance. I've rediscovered it a few weeks ago. Disappointing. I spray 20 times and I start smelling a little bit. 5mn later it,s like if I had sprayed water.

The fragance its an oriental. woody with spices. It ́s nice because has strong notes but it ́s very posible to use in summer nights very well, not usual flavour and to me a succes in this past week. In Spain for only 16 euros.

I purchased a bottle because of good old days memories but they reduced quality! Than bottle to scent every single thing is reduced but still lasts t long and projects beastly... I love that tarragon scent... hmmmm

As a teenager I used to love this fragrance. Very elegant and classy yet casual and sexy at the same time. It's a shame it has been discontinued since they don't create masterpieces like this nowadays.

Very very good fragance if you love the woody-Spices parfums for men. And the price it ́s the best in Spain because for 16 euros only you can to buy a botlle of 100 ml. in El Corte Inglés.

Got a bottle today bought cheply on e bay. This frangrance doens t tell me much. (especially after being reformulated!!) can t smell the soapiness and cinnamon at all!
