Red Shield

Upon first spray, I noted that the driest components of this cologne--cedar, vetiver, and a little leatherishness--were the main players in the game. Very strong cedar to me. That seemed like the ONLY note at first. I was like OK, this is very masculine. Not necessarily what I was expecting but hey. But now that I'm at least an hour later, upon dry down, I have noted it has shifted a bit. I am starting to note the vanilla, musk, and amber more. I wasn't sure I was going to love this cologne, but I am liking it more and more as it has developed. At its price point, I think the longevity and interesting smell are well worth the purchase. I think the sillage is going to end up being more than just personal space, but I also don't think it will overwhelm people nearby. In the end, I really like this cologne and am going to consider it for my boyfriend (I'll probably wear it too once in a while because it is quite nice on drydown). I am a sucker for musky, more masculine leaning scents.

The Moussaieff Red or Red Shield is one of the most famous diamonds in the world due to the intense red color that distinguishes it (diamonds of this color are extremely rare). Extremely precious: imagine having it in front of you. When a stone is so beautiful, but in general when you faced with beauty, you feel a sense of ecstasy, you get excited: well, Red Shield gave me these sensations. The nose is my beloved Quentin Bisch, and its signature can be perceived: an enveloping fragrance, full of personality, with honey and ambrette seeds making it sensual and amplified in its characteristics by leather and violet. Beautiful, very sensual, incredible. I love it. The “Rokeby Venus” painted by Velazquez, magnificently sensual and magnetic, like this fragrance.

#548 in my "Tour de Fragrance" Sweet, musky, leathery, amber, powder with an iris note. It's like they made this one for me on spec. This is my first Orlov fragrance and I do love it. Solidly unisex, maybe a touch on the feminine side, not over-priced, moderate longevity and projection. Peppery/spicy compared to Dior Homme Intense or MFK Gentle Fluidity Gold (this is more similar to GFG than DHI), which to me is an improvement over those two top shelf fragrances. Also very similar to Code Profumo but without a citrus note. This is definitely date wear. Inoffensive in most settings used in moderation. Not one I'd wear to the office. I will definitely get a full bottle of this.

Blind bought a discounted bottle because I'm testing Quentin Bisch frags. Based on notes, I thought this would be a safe buy. Testing on paper was terrible. I wondered WTF I just ordered. ***It doesn't work at all on paper test strips, needs to be worn on the skin.*** On paper, this smells a little vintage perfumy upon initial spray and dries down to pure baby powder with a touch of vetiver or something a bit spicy. Then I tested this on skin, because I knew something had to be off - on skin the powder notes chill out a lot more and the sweets and leather come out. It isn't a purely sweet vanilla bomb scent, despite the pyramid. I'd say "vanilla leather" would be the term I'd use to best describe it, with a noticeable dose of powder that leans more toward iris on skin than pure baby powder like it comes off on paper. Theres a spicy woody base - maybe the vetiver? It takes awhile to come out but it's one of my favorite notes in a some perfumes I've tried. As this dries down, it somewhat transitions more into "spicy woods," but not sharp woods, while still holding onto a bit of powder and vanilla. After wearing it on my skin for awhile, it started smelling like it has something in common with Sunny Side Up by Juliet Has a Gun. A warm spicy base note/combination. I loved that JHAG scent when I first discovered it but had major performance issues with it and I couldn't ever seem to get it to consistently smell good on my skin. The longer this sits on my skin, the more it seems to turn into the notes I loved from Sunny Side Up. Red Shield feels like a much better blend, though. More wearable. Works with body chemistry. Doesn't turn into pencil shavings or have cold synthetic vibes. Red Shield is a bit more powdery, warm, sexy, but the strong powder note seems to fade more and more from my skin as I wear it. I may use caution not to spray this heavily on clothing though unless I want to amplify the powder. This also smells like a softer slightly more feminine and sweet version of Viole D'Ochre by Yves Rocher, same kind of spicy woody vibe. Overall made well with quality ingredients. Very impressed. Scent profile wasn't what I expected but reminded me of a better and more expensive version of a fragrance I love but couldn't get to work for me. This one works very well. Though this leans a bit more feminine IMO I can totally understand it being unisex. Might want to layer it with some more woods or something if you need to make it more masculine.

I got a little sample because i wanted to know what did it smelled like! The opening of the perfume is super sweet and spicy, then it settles into this sort of gourmand fragrance (i believe its the ambrette) i dont kno why it reminds me of those chocolate filled with cherry and liquor, specially the smell of the filling!! You can also smell that powerfull amber and leather!! this perfume reminds me a lot to one of salvador dali i think its just called dali its an toliette fe perfume or somethign like that, i thinkf or my age is a little bit to much but its still a lovely smell if you like that cherry and liquor smell!!

interesting, this opens with a papery note (ambrette/leather/iris) and a powdery note (iris/musk) along with vanilla and pepper. it's gourmand and industrial at the same time, in that it smells like a product, like printer paper with a vanilla background of slight sweetness. later it gets more heavily vanilla but it's still a drier papery iris/ambrette backing things up. i am trying on a rainy winter day and it works great. i also think this would be good on a cool spring/fall day.

The fragrance opens with a beautiful blast of spices and honey. It's very pleasant and warm at this stage. Later on the fragrance settles into a powdery iris DHI type of scent, however it doesn't have the oomph of DHI. The fragrance projection is quite soft, and the longevity also isn't super on my skin (4-5 hours). But the scent itself is very pleasant, albeit not really unique.

I don't know, but I can also perceive citrus notes, not marked in the ingredients. However, it is a pleasant fragrance, not too original but versatile.

Expectation based on reviews and notes: a dry, assertive, leather iris, unisex. Chic, vamp. What I got: an overtly sweet frag, smelling like honeyed cherry-berry cordial. Sticky sweet. It's been in this stage for 2 hours so I've lost hope....not very elegant, more like a 'pick-me' frag. No flirt, no sensuality, just a deep cleavage in da face, wearing lingerie that reveals all at once. If smelled in the air,would have guessed it's a Victoria's Secret lol. I tried Quentin again but we do not seem to gel. :D I'll stick to Francesca Bianchi's take on iris and iris/leather combo. Now that's something.

Red Shield = Rothschild... Ha! that's an interesting name for a fragrance! Interestingly, the Rothschild family have been involved with perfumery at least two times! First, creating the brand Parfums Isabey (1920's) and more recently, acquiring the house of Caron in 2018.

Iris, ambrette, amber, & almonds shells. This has a mate, musk mellow, huge iris, wool, vetiver, and cedar with honey leather mix. This reminds me allot of "Valentino Uomo 2015" by Valentino, & "Dior Homme Intense" by Dior if not identical to them of course.

This is what I thought Dior homme parfum would smell like. It’s definitely a more feminine version of DHI. This is its own fragrance though. Ambrette dominant with vanilla and iris darting throughout. This is an extrait. Get it.

Vanilla heaven! Just a little leathery and a little powdery. Quite sweet. Lots of amberette musk. Very feminine, bordering gourmand. I was hoping for more of that leather oomph but it's just a soft suede.

This one of the sexiest perfume I’m using currently. It’s sweet, elegant and also it can be good for clubbing. Vanilla in this is very seductive!
