Toi Toi Toi

Just got my big bottle today and tried wearing it the whole day for the first time. So this is a thorough first impression. This is one of the perfumes I was the most curious about. It's so expensive but I was so intrigued by all of the claims from this brand: sustainable, all natural ingredients,... and the scent was highly praised by one of my favourite reviewers Sebastian from The Perfume Guy. I just had to bite the bullet and buy it. At first sniff I wasn't sure. It smelled niche, a bit way too niche for me. Prominent notes are woody notes, incense, powdery vanilla AND A BIG DOSE OF PATCHOULI. If you love patchouli like i do, and you want uniqueness, you'll love this. It does smell like something from my childhood. It's not pencil-shaving, the sandalwood is actually more tamed than I expected. If you have sniffed Maison Margiela Whisper in the library, this is kinda in the same realm but WITL smells like old books, there's a bit of a sourness there, but this one is old but well-maintained waxed, wooden cabinet instead. It's not sour or dusty. It smells strange but yummy. After a couple of hours, it started to smell very powdery, heavy, earthy and minty patchouli (my brother said it smells like vicks 😂). It can be stuffy in hot weather due to the warm, church-like incense, which for sure is there but it's not overly incensy. And trust me on this because I normally cannot stand incensy perfumes, this note has to be very mild for me or else it's overwhelming. It stays at the middle level for a long time and gradually the vanilla comes in. At the end of my wear, which is around 8-hour mark, you'll have to put your nose very close to my wrist to smell something. But at this stage, all I can smell is powdery vanilla and patchouli. So not much going on anymore. It's a very yummy and addictive perfume. If you love Maison Crivelli Iris Malikhan, you'll love this. It's in the same realm and evokes similar emotions, with IM feels a bit more distant, like a very highly educated and a bit arrogant intellectual who has nicely styled hair and is unapologetically smarter than most. While Toi3 feels more like an artist who has messy golden hair and is unassumingly clever and highly detached from reality and people, because they spend most of their time in their art workshop, but everyone wants to know them. Both look hot, and both are yummy, powdery patchouli-vanilla combo with IM being ambery as well. Worth owning both if you already have one, will not be redundant. Artistic and completely unisex as it smells like a place rather than a perfume. Longevity is all day and projection is moderate. And sometimes it just feels good to own something most people don't. Extremely pleased with the purchase 🩷

Dry dry dry and absolutely brilliant. Elegant, sophisticated, unique, dare I say.. addictive.. On me this is graphite and pencil shavings, vintage paper-boxed art supplies, dry dry dry wood and a deep and subtle resinous base. The black pepper/incense/cedar/cypriol dominate but a warm vanilla undertone keeps it from being acrid or harsh without drawing attention or being too vanilla-y. It’s so wonderful and nostalgic. I’m an art teacher in the 60s when I wear this. I also get their story of waxed wooden dance studio floors in Germany... I think of the movie Suspiria... but only for the setting... nothing witchy going on here :) Good longevity and projection. A mostly linear scent that merely softens but still maintains its overall effect on dry-down. Toi Toi Toi is an absolute antidote anytime other scents are feeling cloying. This brand can do no wrong.

Absolutely incredible! This is what I was looking for, even if I was unable to describe it. For me it smells like the framework of a cathedral or a violon maker's workeshop. The woody scent is very round and smooth, not agressive at all (the vanilla note helps but is well balanced and does not show too much); more like an ancient waxed wooden floors as is suggesting the opera related title. The alcohol note is quite strong at the beginning but it dries very fast and then reveals all its potential. The evolution was consistent on my skin and did not disappoint – it does not fortunately become too sweet or disgusting and I can strongly distinguish the woody notes after 6+ hours (cedar on top of them). It's very unique - an antique and almost mystical scent.

Ormaie's funky cap bottles caught my attention but the drydown of Toï Toï Toï got me in an emotional chokehold. Having been classically trained in piano and ballet from young, this scent was strongly reminiscent of old pianos when they're taken apart for tuning and the parquet floors of a ballet studio. The opening of the perfume can come across as quite medicinal but the drydown puts me in a happy place. The extrait, on the other hand, evoked none of these. The extrait smelt more candied and gourmand and felt barely related to the EDP. Smells rather similar to Coromandel but less chocolatey and much woodier. The perfumes are incredibly overpriced but I was willing to pay for the memories and emotional associations that Toï Toï Toï EDP evokes.

This is an unbelievably beautiful fragrance. It's soft, woody, slightly sweet and very comforting. I also find it so addictive! It's so lovely that I immediately purchased a 100ml bottle after receiving my 50ml. It's the perfect fragrance for me and the exact notes I find so profoundly satisfying. I would give this 5 stars and I always want to have a bottle in my collection. Lucky for me, a local retailer has been selling this at half price so I jumped on it! The only downside I would say is that it's not a great performer and you have to reapply frequently. No matter, it leaves the afternoon for another one of my lovely and heavier amber fragrances!

Soooo beautiful. I usually go for fresh florals and am trying to branch out for winter. This is absolutely lovely. I love the dryness, the woods, and although I typically avoid vanilla, the vetiver in this brings it beautifully into a dry and more natural form that I really love. I looooove it. 🥰Vanilla that is dry and woody rather than gourmand. It is also so extremely beautiful layered with my other faves- JM orange blossom and Ffern winter 22.

Got this as a free sample with an order, and it honestly might be the best freebie I've ever gotten. It really evokes the feeling of an old wooden structure like a theatre or church. The balance here is perfect I think, just enough of the patchouli and smoke I love but without overpowering the woodiness.

A beautiful one, evoking so many memories. This scent tells a story. Either it is a backatage of a ballerinas performance, or an interior of a palace with wooden floors- it is just perfect. Definitely a wow effect every time.

This is a beautiful vanilla. At first it smells like a vintage “perfumie perfume” like my grandmother or mom wore in the 60s. I don’t smell any incense at all. I do love this cozy vanilla dry down.

I purchased this at a steep discount without testing first. The bottle is lovely and scent leaves you cozy and yet, alert. It opens up rather spicy and similar to some of the French perfume houses like Chanel that used to make me wince. But it is faint and fades away quickly. After that, you are transform into an old theater, the smell of old wood and dim lights, the show is about to start and the air is filled with a combination of wood, smoke, booze and a bit of sweetness to balance it all. If the perfume is strong, then it’d be too much. I like it, but it is faint. I think it would be great to layer with other scents as well. I’d suggest to try it in person before purchasing.

the opening in this is exactly my scent memory of prepping to perform comp improv on an antique wooden stage where one of my theater profs would always dish out this heavenly essential oil concoction. literally makes my body vibrate with excitement to perform. soooooooo goooooood. unfortunately the dry down on my skin turns into this odd raspberry/chocolate-esque balsamic note (i think it's the patchouli gettin' funky w/ me) that i find sweaty and somewhat unbearable. such a shame my skin chemistry doesn't work as well with this one bc i love everything else happening oh so much. such a fantastic scent transport experience overall.

Although I found the opening really harsh, too pachouli heavy, this stage only lasts for 5 minutes and then the most gorgeus spicy cedar wooden cupboard smell appears. Even though the vanilla is very finely suporting this composition in the early stages, later on it gets too overpowering. Such a shame, because this early stage is Gorgeous! I find this to also be the case with Le Paissant. Too much vanilla!

It is a warm scent with pepper, incense, vanilla and sandalwood. Perfect for winter and man. It is a bold fragrance, the sillage and longevity are excellent. 7/10

This is really quite wonderful and unique. So well executed, really invokes the wooden floorboard and grand theatre sense.

woody, fresh and spicy at once. shows real character.

I appreciate this brand. First, they use raw natural materials. I know one will argue that natural is not necessarily better, but I am sorry, I prefer raw natural materials more than synthetics. Second, it is a family-owned brand by a mother and son who care about ecology and sustainability. They care about every detail, from glass bottles and wooden caps to the personal note with your surname, which they send with the purchase. Now, about perfumes. My favorite is Yvonne; the creator says that Grandma inspired him, but I don't find anything old-fashioned in that scent. In my opinion, that scent is the most modern and unique in the whole brand's line. On the contrary, I find Toi, Toi, Toi a bit old-fashioned and slightly too sweet, woody, almost syrupy category. I adore the woody scents, but vanilla here doesn't work great. I know that Demi Rawling is raving about this perfume, but she is addicted to sugary vanilla scents, and I dislike almost everything she likes. It's just personal taste; I don't trash her taste; mine is just different. So, if you are into gourmand scents, give it a try. I must admit that this one is better than Toi, Toi, Toi Extract, which is cloying and sugar-burnt. Silage is strong and has more than 8 hours of longevity on my skin. For me, this is only a wintertime perfume. And it reminds me too much of polished wooden floors, which were the inspiration behind the scent. I just don't find it attractive to smell like polished wooden floors.

A beautiful alba sandal greased with cedar and cypriol, sweetened with vanillin, dusted with patchouli and darkened with spicy incense. I get the retro vibes of vintage, rubbery, bandaged Barbies. Long-lived, sometimes oily on the skin, with a very appreciable intimate and tapered sillage. One of the simplest and favorites of the house where the sandalwood and cedar are more natural and themed than the usual orange sandalwood. Honest, without sharp edges and pretensions, but also pleasantly comfortable to wear as a bedtime dessert. One of the calmest and most reserved perfumes with a vintage doll and vanillin theme.

Love the scent of a sauna, but not enough to smell like one all day.

It has the strongest longevity of entire serie. Same like Yvonne this one reminds me something that is in mainstream now. Something from Givenchy. I wanted to feel tobacco and I cant find it. At the beggining I like the pepper but to me its like pink pepper which I like it gives the kick. Well company say they use fine natural ingrediens and in all serie I feel that metallic, pharmacy; medicine, pills scent. Company said its smells like ballet shoes cabinet... I dont even wanna know how it smells maybe its an answer for a need of luxurious fetish movement in perfumery...I dont find it interesting and corresponding with me.

Ormaie’s Toi Toi Toi should be incredible—just look at the note list: incense, black pepper, sandalwood, vanilla, patchouli, vetiver. On paper, it promises something woody, warm, smoky, and herbaceous. Unfortunately, it falls flat on my skin. I’m immediately met with medicinal cresols—the kind you get from aging white flowers—which read far too literal and lend an antiseptic edge to the composition. The dry-down never fully resolves, leaving the scent feeling muddled and underwhelming for something positioned as a luxury fragrance. Always disappointing when the juice isn’t worth the squeeze—especially at this price point.

Pepper, incense, spices, and vanilla! I think the overdosed vanilla is giving the blend a detour! i don't want to say a wrong detour (although deep inside i feel it is), but a detour. The cyperiol is giving the oily texture feeling to the mix, the intensive incense, the powdered sandalwood, the ashes of cedar, and patchouli and the harsh grains of pepper are making the whole blend weird in away that i'm not really grasping the idea! The fragrance evokes the polished wooden boards of the stage and the dancer's waxed ballet shoes! This is very weird to my nose, i'm not sure that i dislike it cause mostly the ones that ended with "LOVE" relations to me were weird and almost hate at first but as time goes by they became like soul-mates, so let's see.

There’s vague bitterness in the opening (cypriol), but turns smooth and soft after the first 10 minutes. The vanilla is woody and dry, not overly sweet or gourmand. I get the shiny varnished wooden floors, waxed ballet shoes, and soft stage lights. Although I find it rather light-wearing, I love the way this settles into my skin. It's interesting to see other reviews note this fragrance's lasting power as I find it to fade rather quickly. I'm curious about the new extrait version of this fragrance...

Mild peppery incense. Definitely Whisper ls in the Library vibe or at least the cozy atmosphere it evokes: old leather cover books, a bit of dust and a hint of mold from the patchouli. The incense is really not front and center in your face, it's very soft but gives a nice smokiness. Actually the closest resemblance this brings up in my mind is the smell of a theatre wardrobe: dust, makeup powders stuck onto costumes and barely there mouldy patchouli. Leans slightly masculine to my nose. A like 👍🏻

I really didn’t expect to like this but I very much do! It smells sweetly brown, there is some kind of wood, and also a polish note which could be myrrh maybe, actually it’s taking over now, which isn’t good. Okay I don’t like it anymore!

Really like this one, very similar to Bo by Liis; not an exact 1:1 but very similar cedar/vanilla combination. Very well balanced, is going to be gorgeous for fall and winter. Love the incense in here, not too overwhelming.

Sweet, vanillic, peppery incense. The smokiness of nagarmotha both tempers and works with the sweetness of the vanilla in a lovely way. Dry, smooth, atmospheric.

A looooot of patchouli. But this is a very fine perfume, very delicate, airy, old libraries and wood patisserie remembering.

reminds me of chanel coromandel - vanillic mentholated patchouli. very well crafted, very not me.

I have almost a full bottle to sell if someone is interested. :-)
