Ambre Royal

The notes listed above don't describe this scent accurately. I get green & fresh notes throughout the perfume life. It is very easy to wear & completely Uni-Sex. Longevity is 6-8 hours & projection is solid enough to be detected around you for 5/6 hours. Smells nice & quality is obvious. Does it justify the price tag? Maybe but I am not sure. Overall, I liked this scent & will put it on my Wishlist but not high up the list. Someday I can buy a FB If I find a good deal but it will not be anytime soon. Edit: longevity is unreal. Lasts on clothes for days & leaves huge scent trail behind. Right up there in my wish list, however, I will try the elixir before I buy a full bottle. Edit 2: The above opinion was based on my 2ml sample, later I purchased a full bottle production date 2022 & I can 100% confirm it is not the same. The sample was more green, fresh & much more richer, also, the performance from the sample was unreal. I heard from some guys that it had reformulation but I am not sure. what is certain is that the sample is very different from the FB.

Ambre Royal is amber without excess. No syrup, no dessert sweetness, just warmth with structure. It opens fresh and refined, then settles into a smooth, resinous amber wrapped in soft spice and clean woods. The sweetness is restrained. It feels dry, tailored, and composed rather than plush or indulgent. What I appreciate most is the steadiness. It projects confidence without trying to dominate the room. In close quarters it feels intentional and controlled, present but never loud. If you prefer amber that feels grounded, calm, and quietly authoritative rather than sugary or showy, Ambre Royal delivers beautifully. For someone who prefers calm over chaos, structure over sweetness, and presence over projection, Ambre Royal fits naturally. It’s amber for someone who doesn’t want to smell edible... just solid. Hard fragrance to fully understand and put adequately into words. Feels complex but also simple. Starts off licorice-heavy on my skin. Immediately has a velvety, golden/amber hue quality to it. The drydown is what I'm still trying to wrap my head around. All I can say now is that it reminds me of the smell of apricot a little BUT mixed in with the licorice (not as strong as the scent dries down) AND with the velvety almost leathery characteristic. Performance from the sample I got is really good - lasts at least 8 hours and sticks to clothes for at least 24 hours. Personally, this is a unique smell to me and is a masterpiece in my book...but I can also see this not working for some..which makes it even more desirable to me because it's not for everybody...it's a definite buy in my book and will be in my collection.

It is really nice but I'm not sure it's worth the big price. I get a big ambroxan opening. I then get the osmanthus and Amber. Ambroxan is sort of transparent and all enveloping with its big sillage. Gradually you can pick out the floral notes. It is a warm and quite sweet scent. I can see what others mean about a similarity with Mugler Alien. I don't pick out jasmine though. It is curious how it seems to keep getting warmer. It becomes a big Amber bomb. I do like the way the osmanthus seems to really last but I suspect that it is an illusion created by the other notes. A lovely scent for a night out with friends. I'm not sure I find it sexy. Sexy for me means it draws your lover in closer. They don't need it with this because of the big sillage. I'm sure it's a great compliment getter.

Working my way through the (now discontinued) travel set . This was the first one I tried . Beautiful scent . Luminous , sparse and very summery. Youthful without ever becoming juvenile. And delicate without being overtly feminine. Unfortunately for me it becomes a skin scent within the hour , perhaps some ambrox induced anosmia (?). will try again after moisturizer and see if that helps, but it's glorious in all its facets! Unusual and delicate , but so elegant it's hard to describe. The fruit is very subtle , the floral aspect is almost transparent but as bright and warm ... this is more Ambre than floral and very much unisex in my opinion. I think my wife will like this one too , maybe it lasts longer on her skin ... Easy to wear and very pleasant indeed .

I was going to buy Montabaco Verano OJ, The agent ask me for trying AROJ I nicely refused as I wasn’t interesting to mixed up but he insisted so I just had a sniff from the battle itself and I’ve fallen in love along with it, I bought MVOJ and got back home then after about 2 weeks I went back for a real try, I sprayed it on my skin and cloths then just I got out of the boutique I felt the magic of scent I smelled Pure of sweet Floral and simple Amber with light citrus that are blended in unique way were intoxicated my soul it was like I had potion in my vein..wow wow itis marvelous juice I would drink it, very good Projection,Sillage,longevity overall 9/10 Thanks OJ you will be one of my beloved houses 😘🥰

I don't know how to describe this other than absolute love at first smell. This is intoxicating, addictive & in a league of its own. This has my name written all over a full bottle, a back up bottle & half used decants all over my house! I'm not usually a fan of rose & consider myself a manly man & this is right up my alley! I get whiffs of bergamot, orange blossom & every other note I swore I hated until now... Ormonde Jayne I don't know how you pulled this off but you just took every note I dispised & made a masterpiece. PEOPLE GET YOUR SNOT-LOCKERS ON THIS GEM ASAP!

I am a big fan of Ormonde Jayne and this is no exception. Elegant and well-blended. The only negative for me is the immediate opening, which is VERY anise-heavy. It lasts only a few moments though, fading into top notes of ambroxan, osmanthus, and something green. Over time it becomes much more of an amber scent with the powdery iris coming through. Warm without being cloying or heavy. The tail fades into a pretty linear amber, but its so excellent that I don't mind. Lasted easily all day as an intimate scent.

After the amazing opening, so yummy and dark, I immediately thought “I love this”. I’m wishing I had tested this scent in the winter because now I’m second guessing my reaction. I still like it but I’m not swooning. Ambroxan. Usually I’m not a fan, but it’s here with a light touch so I’m not bothered by it. Osmanthus in this composition is beautiful and unexpected. An amber worthy of study, I like it a lot. I’m on the hunt for a larger decant so I can test it further.

One of the best,relaxing and soft scents Ive smelled. Beautiful bright and cold amber with florals combined with the Iris note, absolutely gorgeous. Performance is quite confusing tbh (sometimes maybe good sometimes maybe sheet). One day I get +7 hours with good projection, the other day it barely makes it +3 hours with 30 minutes of projection. Scent 9/10 Versatility 9/10 Performance 6.8/10

Soapy, florals, supporting amber and musk. Not the main player though, don't be misled by the name. It is much less appealing to name something Soapy-florals-with-supporting-amber-musk-Royal. Soapy florals mostly. Very clean and airy smelling out-of-the-shower smell. Dries down to a light fluffy sweet amber. Airy smelling ethereal veil like all Ormonde Jaynes. This one is lovely!

This is good , This is soo good ! , A very bright and sweet amber floral slightly woody scent Is not loud but it gets attention in a pleasant way . It’s elegant , uplifting and great for every occasion plus it is wearable all year long , the performance is a little disappointing but can last on Dates or any events

Ohh yess! Spicy, musky and fresh. You will get the sweet notes of the amber thru the whole scent. Good daily scent with good longevity on my skin with 8+ hours and great projection. On cloths last more than 12 hours. Received 3 compliments. The last 2 at the 6 hour mark or so. Try it on a 2 ml decant.

Made the purchase with no regret. It is all class and quality. It is amber but unlike any other ambers in my collection, which I like. Not beastly but this fragrance is not suited for that kind of sillage. When I wear this I feel very "high class". Well done!

A very different ambre fragrance from what i experienced so far. It is sehow sweet but something keeps it from been cloying. Very quality and unusual, it lasts all day with a magnetic aura. It is indeed unisex, starts abit feminine but ends more masculine.

A unique floral and amber combo that's very classy and well done. Longevity and sillage are great. I have some amber but not with floral undertones like this one. I received as a sample and it on my wish list for fragrances to purchase this year.

I really like this. I have had this sample for a while and now really sitting down and loving this. Very fresh, crisp, smooth not sharp. Very well done! I might get a full bottle someday.

Simply Mugler Alien but waaaay refined. Amber and musk in a very lovely way. Can’t stop sniffing my wrist when I spray it. Smell: 10/10 Longevity: 8/10 Sillage: 7/10 Price: 6/10

Awe I adore this one. So much that I have a 4oz backup . But yeah it’s heavy on ambroxan. Still love it tho. Geza loves his ambroxan, he needs to tone it down.

In the drydown it's smell a lot like alien .

I really don’t understand why this is getting such bad reviews. The notes are as follows: HEAD Green Notes, Orange Absolute and Bergamot HEART Jasmine Absolute, Osmanthus, Rose Oil, Amber, Orris Butter and Orchid Oil SOUL Cedar Wood, Ambroxan, Tonka, Patchouli and Musk I find this very sophisticated, well blended, and elegant. Ormonde Jayne are not heavy fragrances somehow this house DNA (probably the projector notes ambroxan etc...) manages to have such light watercolor feeling fragrances. It’s unusual for me to be able to smell every single note in a fragrance, but I seem to be able to with this one. If I try to smell orange I smell orange, if I try to smell jasmine I smell it. Perhaps it’s just a trick my nose and brain are playing on each other. The power of suggestion. This isn’t like a dark amber fragrance such as Ambre Sultan it’s a floral, woody, musky amber. I’m actually getting a lot of rose but maybe that’s because I find rose very easily identifiable. The amber comes out much more in the dry down and of course with this house there is going to be either ambroxan or ISO E to project off the skin. I can see why it would get compared to Alien. It’s got a similar vibe to alien but it’s like a richer fuller much more elevated version of alien. This is a very strong fragrance with outstanding longevity which might get reviews that it’s overwhelming but for someone like me I find that to scream quality which Ormonde Jayne of course has in spades. This could be overwhelming for someone young or used to mainly light designer scents.

Ambre Royal smells like if TM Alien and TM Angel had an elegant, soft-spoken love child, with the dark aesthetic of TF Black Orchid. Fragrantica doesn't list it, but the packaging indicates that patchouli is a base note and to my nose, it is very prominent, which is why it reminds me more of Angel than Alien. But it's not as sweet as Angel, nor are the white florals as loud as Alien. The green notes dissipate quite quickly on my skin, and the fragrance quickly settles down to a resinous floriental. It's not my style, and certainly not worth the price for me, but it's a good quality fragrance that's at least worth trying out if you like big, resinous florals.

I also smell a good amount of Anise in the opening that fades to powdery Iris and Osmanthus. Light cedar in the background to round it out. I hate cedar but it does it's job here. Because of the amount of Anise in this it reminds me of a feminine version of that Absynthe perfume by Killian that I cannot remember the name of, but the addition of the Iris really changes the Ormonde Jayne to something that I can wear, whereas with the Killian scent, the supporting elements were quite heavy. I think I will enjoy wearing my decant of this, but am not quite sure about a full bottle as Anise can be cloying.

Bright floral amber... This is not your typical amber perfume. Osmathus and ambroxan make it very bright, uplifting and kind of transparent but with lot of flavor. It is very elegant and very easy to wear. Totally unisex and wearable all year round. A no brainer, that everybody around you will enjoy. "Blind gift" appropriate. It does not feel natural, but it smells quality ingredients and refine composition. Uniqueness: medium-high (amber with a fresh-floral punch) Scent: 7.5/10 Performance: medium-high (high for this kind of scent profile) Would I buy it: Yes (already in my collection)

A bright happy amber scent, this is another nice offering from Ormonde Jayne. The perfume opens with a beautiful osmanthus note before moving to a brief floral heart of iris and orchid. The perfume settles on a dense base of amber and ambroxan surrounded by slight hints of synthetic musk and cedar. The overall effect is of happy times in lush gardens. If I have a quibble with this scent it is the unnecessary use of ambroxan for additional effect which gives it a slight screechy vibe. Unisex feminine leaning with pronounced projection and sillage and good longevity. Enjoy!

The correct notes for the edp are Top: Green Notes, Orange Absolute and Bergamot Mid: Jasmine Absolute, Osmanthus, Rose Oil, Amber, Orris Butter and Orchid Oil Base: Cedar Wood, Ambroxan, Tonka, Patchouli and Musk This is a very nice masculine fragrance imo I wouldn't call it unisex. Its a fresher amber, or ambroxan, floral and musk scent. I get wafts of rose and osmanthus through out along with stand out liquorice accord. Not similar to anything I own.

It’s nice, however I don’t really like the initial citrusy/spicy note that smells a bit fishy to me. But after it transforms into really nice clean amber scents with woody and spicy undertones.

I had tester and I like it! Very fine fragrance, Royal suits it as a name! It is pretty strong, an unusual and unique fragrance. Perfect balanced, I would class it as a night perfume.

NOT unisex, definitely not unisex. This is a very masculine amber with a healthy dose of shaving cream, a touch of anise/licorice and some sterilized patchouli deep in the base. The opening is a bit harsh but a few minutes in it softens and opens up, radiating composed abstract masculinity. Smells quite timeless, yet you get the sense it's not a very recent release. Ambre Royal potentially could smell quite cheap on the wrong man, but it would be a nice casual scent for unassuming suave gentlemen. Still, there are better fragrances out there that tick that box. Definitely test before buying.

Doesn't smell like Alien to me, but it does also have that almost mentholated "overtone" that Alien also has. Smells better on paper for me - I get a lightly apricot-y sweet (the osmanthus) amber. On my skin, it does that weird thing that a lot of OJ fragrances do for me, which is that it turns really airy and disappears into this ethereal "space-like" impression of a scent. I think it's just way too much ambroxan for my chemistry. Not for me, but I envy you if it smells good on your skin.

I prefer how it smells a few seconds in to how the dry down is. The dry down loses the citrusy fruity elements and it's just too much musk. I like Ambroxan but combined with the overpowering musk it's slightly too masculine for me. I've never heard of the comparison to Alien, and they're verrrry different. Alien is too syrupy sweet for me so I prefer this, but in general I wouldn't buy this if you're looking for something like alien.

Slightly pissy musk with amber and a sprinkle of florals to balance it all. Unfortunately, it doesn't smell like Musc Ravageur to me at all, like some review said before me. To me, this smells like something Mancera or Montale could offer if they decided to increase the quality of their fragrances. The blend is actually great, I can admit, but to be honest, this is not for me and is not blind buy safe.

Not what I expected based on the price. Something like modern Miss Dior with a strong floral note and a faintly leathery/powdery amber beneath. I really wouldn't have pegged this as an amber perfume by the smell! Not bad if you like those terribly similar popular modern perfumes that all smell rather the same.

I don't think this is well-blended at all :( I'm a fan of many other Linda's creations though. All I get is a battle between patch, resins, bergamot, and too much of Ambroxan. This one lacks character and the warmth perspective of amber, even though it fits the bill.

A soapy amber, some musk, the rose appears and then disappears within the first 30 minutes. It’s more masculine on my skin. I find the soapiness obtrusive and unpleasant after the first hour. It’s... OK.

Kind of smells like a nice incense/amber but I can’t get away from the axe spray kind of smell this gives off it’s just overpowering

It definitely does not smell like Alien EDP to me- however it does smell like a lighter version of Alien Musc Mysterieux!

I love this house but not this fragrance. The osmanthus + orchid mixed with ambroxan+Amber notes warms up the floral notes in a way that is just sickly. It’s a linear scent. This smells absolutely nothing - nothing! - like Alien.

Blind smell without looking at notes: Lots of florals, powdery, and a base of ambroxan. Definitely feminine leaning. Hard pass, not worthy of the name "Ambre Royal".

Ambre Royal is an amber that is not heavy. Again, I am getting a watercolor texture here. Slight fruity and leathery undertones from osmanthus. A slight metallic warmth from ambrox. I get a slight green iris here peeking through. I am also getting star anise in the opening and throughout the life of the perfume. I wonder if that is from the ambroxan. There is a strange aftershave quality here that I am not very fond of. I dislike the musk used in this fragrance. It smells like many of the new musk's that I object to and just dislike so much. I miss real musk. These new synthetic aroma chemicals are just not something that makes a good perfume. This is not something I would buy. Very disappointing. If you want a strange fruity musk for a man, then this is a good choice. A big no way for me. This has a similar vibe and smell to Tocca's Cleopatra, but I like that one more! And I gave that a "meh" vote. This smells cheaper if you can believe that! Ambre Royal is like the unisex/male leaning version of Tocca's Cleopatra.

This is not unisex. This is straight masculine with heaping amounts of screechy ambroxan/cedar obnoxious amberwood. If ambroxan is your game, it's here in spades. I find it an overly used powerful synthetic that tears through compositions like a hot knife through butter. A hard pass. Disappointed.
