Damask

Since I purchased the travel size of Damask, I have been wearing this scent nearly everyday. I love this scent profile. It has a tart dewy fruity opening that is bright and bubbly. Further into the dry down (like 3-4 hours) as the tart fruitiness has dissipated, the woody tones stay on the skin that is sweet, but robust. This is a lovely and gorgeous scent, perfect for spring and summer. I definitely will be wearing this into autumn as well. Ormonde Jayne is a great niche house and executes their scents with such class and elegance. There's a mineral note in Damask that gives this scent it's unique effervescent addictive factor. And this one lasts about 6 hours on my skin. Longevity is good. Sillage could be better, but good enough and nothing wrong with touching up throughout the day. Similarities: Yes it does smell like Delina. Delina has a prominent, more well rounded tart opening in comparison to Damask and dries down sweeter because of that vanilla note. That mineral note in Damask makes it fizzy and bright, perfectly fitted for spring and summer. Though Delina and Damask are very similar (like 85% similar) I prefer Damask, as it is a hair brighter and lighter and doesn't ever overwhelm you. The vanilla in Delina can get a touch cloying. I would agree with other reviews saying that Damask is like the older sister of Delina. Both close in age, Damask has her finances in order, while Delina parties every weekend, is extra flirty, and likes to dress scantily. I prefer Damask over Delina because of its overall milder and fizzier style on this scent profile (there is nothing wrong with being extra flirty and dressing scantily). Atomic rose is even punchier and deeper in comparison, but different enough to have both in a collection. Atomic rose is like the cousin who is close in age and grew up with both Delina and Damask because their mothers are very close sisters, but is more intense and edgier, as a result of her rougher upbringing. All three have that tart dewy rose opening and they're all beautiful. 10/10. Currently obsessed and ecstatic that I purchased a full bottle on discount. Btw, when Damask sells on discount in the gray market, they sell out fast.

I have a sample of this. It is a pretty scent and can be quite easy going, meaning liked by many. Rose rose rose. For me it is somehow a bit sharp and annoying. Regardless of that, I think this can be a nice present for a middle aged woman/man (although I feel it's more on the feminine side), as it has elegance and depth. I will not get a bottle as its too strong and not the kind of scent I personally tend to like. Someone mentioned it reminded him or her to Pourier d'un Soir from Miller Harris and yes, there is a similarity, but this is heavier and less 'airy' :0) Update: I have to write this update. I put this perfume away and after a while I put it on, in very cold weather. Whoaaa.. I think coldness suits this a lot. All of a sudden the notes blossomed in front of me - pear, (glorious pear, one of my favorite notes) black pepper (it actually made me sneeze) and the lemon, oh the glorious lemon is soo in front of this, and something else as well like pine needles (am I just imagining, maybe the vetiver)? Amber (and musk) make it warm too. I love when fragrance does this - changes my mind about itself entirely, I take what I said above back, this is a lovely creation. :0) Quality!

This fragrance was part of a recent blind buy and I’m happy to report it was a success. Phew! I purchased 2 fragrances blindly in this order since the deal was too good to pass up. I felt very confident I at the very least enjoy the scent profile since it had been compared to Delina, which I absolutely love. To address the obligatory comparison, yes, this does remind me of Delina. For me it’s most similar to the OG. The rose is the same. The main difference to my nose is this fragrance has a spiciness accompanying the rose throughout the scent journey. It is peppery. I’m assuming there is pink pepper in the notes. Usually when I detect pink pepper it disappears after the initial opening, but in this fragrance it lingers. I love it. Otherwise, I would find it too similar to Delina. This is not a powerhouse like Delina, though. I find the performance on the low-moderate side. 4-5 hours at most. Delina lasts all day and even lingers on the skin the next day. Absolutely beautiful fragrance. The dry down is sweet and ambery. This fragrance is also reminiscent of Atomic Rose. This is lighter and less, well, atomic. All three are great. This is the lightest of the bunch.

I received the whole line and this is the first perfume I tested. I love it. It's a jammy rose, sweet but delicate, never cloying. I’ve only had it on for 10 minutes. The beginning is strong and sweet but I can tell it will fade as it is already morphing a bit and I can start to pick up the musky base with some woods. The sweetness will be there from start to finish. I can detect a strong pear and the sweet aspect may come from a pear-jasmine combination? This is definitely a sweet Jasmine and a natural one as the nuances are hard to detect and the smell will never be disturbing to your olfactory experience. It also gives the feeling of an exotic sweetness never boring or mainstream. Definitely niche. I love OJ, can't wait to get my nose on the rest of the pack. Sometimes I can even pick up some sort of lychee like smell. The vetiver might be a shade of itself in here. Forgot to mention, at times it is Chanelesque as it gives me a hint of Chance. Meaning Chance Eau Tendre. :)

I wore this perfume on my wedding day. It’s a heady, sensual rose that’s very likeable whilst more interesting than most designer perfumes. There is some fruitiness in the top notes, a brightness that I think is the citrus and some spiciness from the pink pepper. Unlike many fruity perfumes, I don’t find this sickly or cloying. I get more rose than jasmine, deep and rich rather than powdery. I get the amber and woodiness in the base. Amber can turn me off as like fruity notes I find it can be cloying, but here it is warm and heady but not nauseating. If there are mineral notes (perhaps I get a slight saltiness) they are perfectly blended. The projection and longevity are both good without being overpowering, many fragrances disappear on me but this doesn’t. I get a lot of compliments when wearing this. I think it is interesting enough and to me smells like high quality ingredients are used so it’s worthy of the term “niche” but would also have mass appeal.

Comparing every rose fragrance to Delina has got to stop lol bc this is nothing like Delina maybe similar to Delina a la rose. This perfume is feminine, effervescent, youthful and gorgeous. This is the perfect summery rose perfume. It kind of reminds me of the Fentiman’s Rose Lemonade just bc of its so effervescent. When you first spray it you get the freshness and fizzyness of the citrus. Then you get the sweetness of the rose and jasmine. There’s a slight musk to the perfume but it’s very slight. This is a very happy type of rose perfume, love! Longevity and projection was moderate.

Ok, just wow...This stuff is intoxicating. Strong rose, but tart and juicy from the fruit. The metallic note gives it an almost fizzy freshness. But there is something else here, giving it a mysterious, vaguely oriental feel (not resins, not smokiness...just something else). This is Delina all grown up, a female spy dressed in red velvet and sipping a Bellini cocktail while riding on the Orient Express. The quality and performance is amazing. I must say that Ormonde Jayne is just such a stellar house!

My FAVORITE spring-summer scent! Bright, uplifting, sparkling, feminine, classy, it's an instant feel-good. It does have strong similarities with Delina - which I also love - but this one has a little something extra that I adore. And the dry-down is to die for! Long-lasting, great projection - without being overpowering - suitable both for day and night wear. Strongly recommend to give it a snif if you're into fruity-rose florals!

This is similar to Delina and many of the dupes of delina but it also has that ethereal VaIaya muskiness. However, I can reassure you this is on another level when it comes to quality and performance. This has a richer, deeper and warmer scent to it. Beautiful, timeless and elegant with outstanding performance, I took a shower and the scent was literally projecting hard afterwards. I love it.

My signature scent. Makes me happy and energized every time I put it on. Feminine, elegant and playful. It is very juicy and uplifting with lots of fresh rose, the one you can smell after a rainy summer day. Perfect for everyday, it won’t offend anyone especially because it does not project too much, but it is enough for others to catch a whiff of it and give compliments. Simply beautiful!

What a beautiful scent. It's completely reminiscent of some other jammy rose fragrances, but is so perfectly balanced I'd say it's one of the most charming and wearable takes on a theme I've had the pleasure of smelling. It's sweet and feminine - so I can see the comparison with Delina, but for me, the heart is much darker, and even flirting with a barely-there kiss of oud.

I just purchased it as I was mesmerised by it. I came back home and run to see the comments about it and there are a lot here highlighting the similarities to Delina. I certainly have not smelled Delina, but I have Amouage Beach Hut Man and .... Am I crazy to think that in the dry down they are very similar? Anyone else having both can you comment on that please?

I was immediately reminded of Delina when I put this on, but it’s not the same. I don’t find it very similar to Atomic Rose either. I find it to be a beautiful and well balanced rose forward perfume. I definitely get the fruitiness as well. I’m not usually a rose perfume lover, but this is one of my favorites that I’ve smelled.

Blew my mind, despite the seemingly boring scent profile. Like, yum. The currant works better here than in Babylonia, primarily because rose is a strong enough floral to support it. Not ambery or woody enough for any warmth, but that's just as well. A true spring rose, long-lasting and fresh.

This fragrance reminds me of Poirier d'un Soir and Enchanted Forest. Both including this are elegant fragrances. What makes this different? The blackcurrant note with bitter green background and hints of musk and amber are simply amazing. Performance wise, this is better than the other two.

This doesn't have the sharpness of Une Rose nor the heady creaminess of Delina...it's a perfect representation of the juiciest, most delicious rose in the garden. It's a warm spring day and the bees humming in the rosebush are just as delighted as I am. Magical!

Doesn’t smell like Delina to me — and I love it. It reminds me of the elegance of Paris, specifically when I lived there at 18 and the grown-up French women all smelled so amazing. And for once, this is a fragrance I can smell on myself for a good long while.

Sexy! Sexy! Sexy! This is my go to date night scent and my husband (who detests rose fragrances) absolutely adores it as much as I do. Oh and don’t waste your time on Delina, Damask is sooo much better in every way!

Rose perfumes saturate the market, but this one is head and shoulders above the rest. The blackcurrant and rose are so juicy and musky together! Heaven. Reminds me of Stella McCartney but perhaps even better...

This is a refreshing fruity rose. Reminds me of Stella but better blended with better performance. I don’t discern a clear jasmine and I don’t know what mineral smells like. Really lovely for spring/summer.
