Frangipani

At first blush, I suspect this would strike people as nice but nothing special. There's nothing wrong with it--it doesn't flatten or disappear after the initial citrus-floral burst, it doesn't deaden into a cliche woody base, and it lasts well given its effervescent character. Even the ratings here bear out that most people think this is just fine: out of 1,079 reviews at the time of this writing, the greatest plurality likes it (41%), and 56% of people either like it or think it's "ok". But for me, this perfume contains beautiful contrasts between bright, crystalline sparkle and hazy, fuzzy, fruits. This perfume is ultimately a fuzzy peach with a bright citrus-cedar duet providing an enchanting sparkle. It's the contrast between the summer haze and sparkle that keeps my interest. An uncomplicated, casual choice for summer days and white linen blowing in the breeze. Tiare and Osmanthus from the same house try something similar, but in my view this is the only one that gets it right.

Although I initially didn't give this scent much attention, I recently tried it again and I am now obsessed with it! The opening is so fresh and reminds me of a key lime pie and meringue, something slightly sweet and citrusy, without being clogging or heavy. It then develops into the most enchanting and delicate bouquet along with soft honey. On my skin, the drydown reminds me of freshly washed sheets with just a hint of vanilla. I have to admit I have never smelled frangipani in real life, but nonetheless, I find this fragrance absolutely stunning. I can be very picky and I am not a fan of overly sweet or sharp scents. I prefer elegant, modest and soft fragrances. To me, this fragrance is an invitation to travel, but not the sunscreen/coconutty type of scent. Instead, it feels like I am wandering in a lush tropical rainforest with my lover. It is sensual, fresh and delicate at the same time. Definitely signature worthy!

When I was in high school, I lived in Hawaii, and we had white and pink plumeria (frangipani) trees in our yard. OJ's Frangipani is exactly the scent of those plumeria directly after a tropical rainshower, crushed flowers lying under the tree with their sweet and sharp scent. It starts off with the scent of greenery and crushed plumeria. It is not long before a shy jasmine and tuberose peep out lending a slight sweetness. I'm crazy about tuberose scents, but prefer the ones with more complexity than just a shrill note of tuberose, so Frangipani's hint of tuberose is perfect. Finally, the amber lends just a hint of powdery goodness to the cedar and vanilla. A truly lovely tropical floral. I tend to have a bit of chemistry mis-match with several of OJ's musky drydowns--they become a little too sweetly neon on my skin, so I'm very glad that the musk note in Frangipani takes a backseat to the other basenotes.

Gorgeous, refined fruity floral. Frangipani, plum, magnolia, iris, and the signature Ormonde Jayne drydown are the predominant notes on my skin. One of my favorites from this house along with Tolu and Rose Gold. For those new to this line, Ormonde Jayne's perfumer Geza Schoen uses iso e super like Chanel uses aldehydes. It offers lift and refinement to a composition, but can also cause headaches and temporary nose blindness depending on the concentration and the individual. Iso e super is also likely responsible for the ghost behavior many observe from OJ perfumes. They disappear and reappear hours later or days later on a scarf. Other reviewers have noted they have better performance when they apply less. I only apply 1 spray. I am guessing that keeps the overall concentration of iso e super low enough to avoid nose blindness.

Such an effervescent scent. The line notes really shine here up front and I love how the florals ride alongside. It’s very fresh scent and I really enjoy it. I’m not an overly sophisticated perfume lover preferring a more simple scent profile, but this was a surprise. Its layers are almost addictive. Additionally I was quite frankly worried there’d be too much cedar (I can’t help think of hamster habitats🤢), but it’s thankfully really subtle. It’s def a spring or summer scent that reminds me of lime flavoured cocktails on the veranda in the sunshine surrounded by flower gardens. I purchased largely for the frangipani accord and it’s there definitely, highlighted by the rose and magnolia and even a touch of plum. I will certainly herald in the springtime sunshine wearing this delight.

I originally bought this because I love Frangipani and was hoping for a lush, tropical floral that is true to the flower. I didn't get that at all but it is still nice. This is very office friendly. Did Ormonde Jayne reformulate this scent? The earlier reviews make it sound like it is very creamy, lush and tropical. I had a bottle since 2018 and recently got a new one. Neither one is creamy, lush or tropical. It is rather green, watery and dewy. It smells like a vacation home in the morning with dew sparkling on all the plants. Except instead of being surrounded by Frangipani trees, there is only one in the garden. The creamy floral is in the background. I get more linden blossom, lime, orchid and plum. It's not warm and balmy just yet.

I love this! Fruity in the opening with smooth white flowers, to me this does smell of plumeria. I used to have a tree in my front yard and although it's not spot on, I can almost imagine them smelling like this. I'm not a white floral fan when they're loud and over bearing, this is definitely not. 6 hours after putting this on my hubs came home and could smell me just being in the same room with me when I didn't think it was projecting he could smell it. He said I smelled fresh and clean smelling. Beautiful summer scent. It was 91° F today with loads of humidity. I smelled like a fresh breeze of sunshine and happiness. Getting a fb without question.

I went to the small and amazing boutique in London last week. I was helped by a very nice lady. She let me smell Frangipani and it was love at first sight. A nice fresh perfume that revolves around the (white) Frangipani. It starts with lots of citrus, frangipani and peach. I'm glad it doesn't contain a dominant Lily of the Valley fragrance note. This could have made the fragrance cheap. But instead, the tuberose becomes more dominant in the perfume after an hour. This adds something creamy to the freshness of the fragrance. For me this is the favorite part. It's not a screaming perfume. But a subtle perfume that easily lasts all day.

I'm a big fan of Ormonde Jayne, she makes user friendly, high quality scents, and this is my favourite of her line (although it's so hard to choose!). This is the most refreshing frangipani I've ever smelled. It's very aromatic and gently herbal, rather than merely tropical. The sweetness of the frangipani is present and is beautifully counterbalanced by the freshness of the lime and the linden blossom. You feel like you are on holiday, but perhaps in the Canaries in spring rather than in Hawaii in summer. Amazing scent!

i find this to be a marvelously photoreal frangipani. theres a tree down the street from me with frangipani and i always pick up blooms from the sidewalk to smell, this is a perfect match to my nose! the lime and magnolia add a lovely greenness that really capture the true nature of this scent. i could wear this every single day in the summer. longevity could be better but the sillage smacks, i feel like im walking in a beautiful floral cloud

This is one of my favorite white florals. It goes on strong with a realistic, mouth-puckeringly tart lime note. The florals are creamy, dewy, velvety and just a tad sweet. It does retreat rather quickly to a beautiful tropical floral that doesn't overwhelm like some can. I brought it with me on my recent trip to Hawaii and after smelling actual frangipani, the OJ captures its qualities well. Highly recommend to white floral lovers.

Rich and creamy white florals, but slightly tropical. If you're looking for a perfume that smells like suntan oil with a pina colada by the pool this probably isn't the top of that list, it's a more subtle rendition of that feeling and I appreciate it more for that. Pulls mildly soapy once it dries down more but even though I dislike soapy perfumes I don't mind this one. Adding to the top of my FB list!

I mostly get lime, water lily, frangipani, and incredible throw of iso e super in this fragrance. I’ve worn this and people smell it 30 ft away. But, it’s somehow still feather light. It’s a translucent light shaft dancing across the room. It’s not a sunscreen fragrance to my nose but more of a watery fresh floral breeze. I get compliments on this girl every time I wear her.

What a marvellous, obsessive floral to have on. One of the nicer exotic flower renditions from Ormonde Jayne, Frangipani doesn't bear the aggressive greenness of some other airy florals from the same label. Don't overspray, especially in the neck and collar area as it gets a little synthetic up close. Performs above average on sillage and projection.

I actually don’t know what frangipani or linden blossoms smell like, but I DO think this is a wonderful tropical treat! NOT in a sugar-y, coconut-y or salty way. Rather, it’s floral/sand-y. It brings to mind maybe a suntan lotion or shampoo from my childhood. Thanks to a generous member for the sample, I can’t stop sniffing my arm! On my wish list!

Beautiful!! Gorgeous realistic florals, fresh, uplifting citrus, sweet, creamy musky, vanilla, musk, and amber. It’s refreshing and leaves a beautiful trail. It has lots of iso e super that projects the freshness. Other people smell it on me for a good 6 to 7 hours. This is everything I love in a fragrance. ❤️💜💙

Beautiful white floral fragrance with a citrussy opening, a very true to life frangipani heart and a wonderful tuberose drydown, that manage to remain fresh and dewy (without being overly aquatic) all the way. Medium sillage and excellent longevity. A wonderfully soothing and uplifting summer perfume. Love.

I absolutely adore this perfume. Living in Australia 🇦🇺, frangipani trees are abundant here in QLD. This fragrance is perfect for the summer as it has a “fresh” take on the frangipani thanks to the lime and delicate water lily. It has that elegance that Ormonde Jayne is famous for. Absolute love 🧡.

You can find a masterpiece in the most unlikely of places, and I consider this fragrance a masterpiece. It's very simple, but perfectly made. And it lasts all day on my skin. Bright and fruity with gorgeous creamy florals. I can't imagine summer without this fragrance.

It's like an ice-cream, an exotic scent which is sharply floral bright from the first notes, it becomes creamy (like some kind of butter) and softer after a while, but still very exotic. Another floral by OJ I want badly.

If you love tropical white florals, this is just bang on. From first spray it delivers. If you want one classic tropical floral for a warm day...Im not sure it gets any better than this. Its timeless.

To me it smells like vacation in Hawaii. Such beautiful floral. I am absolutely in love with this one. This is definitely very feminine fragrance. The performance is amazing too.

A delicate the most fragile Frangipani ever created by a perfumer. You feel the flower without any annoying fruitiness, only the big white creamy flower.

This is a strange one. Knowing Geza Schoen's heavy reliance on aromachemicals and my own frequent issues with them, I approached OJ Frangipani (the first of the house's florals I've tried) with considerable trepidation. This turned out to be unnecessary...sort of. First off, I don't smell any frangipani - in fact I find it hard to identify any single floral note; the effect is more the smell emanating from a flower shop as you pass by its open door. Smelled in occasional wafts from my wrist or clothing, it's quite fresh and lovely, bringing to mind traces of an expensive shampoo or body lotion (not a bad thing in my book). The problem is that my reflex in those situations is to bury my nose in my skin and inhale deeply. But this is a mistake: up close, the scent is indeed almost unbearably harsh and synthetic. And this seems to be true for not just me - my husband, who generally has far fewer problems with aromachemicals than I do, commented favorably on the scent trail the first time I wore this (itself a rarity, as we usually have quite different tastes in fragrance). When I offered him my wrist for closer inspection, however, he practically jumped back in horror, calling it cloying and unbearable. I've decided to give this one a "like" because, well, I do like it - at a distance. It's got exceptional potency and longevity, too: six hours after spraying once on my wrist I'm still getting those lovely wafts. That said, I probably won't be seeking out a bottle. I need more from a scent than just being able to enjoy it in passing.

It might sound odd but I just discovered the flower of frangipani in vacation few weeks ago at a hotel in Greece where the outside patio of our room had wonderful frangipani trees in bloom. I was totally stunned by the beauty of the flowers and the whole week I kept smelling them every time I passed by. A lady from the hotel told me it's jasmine but knowing jasmine I was very intrigued that the leaves could be jasmine. But from some short searches I discovered that those were frangipani trees, of which I've known only the fragrance or rather the interpretation of, until then. And from there started the second search as I had to have a fragrance that reproduces that wonderful sweet creamy and elegant fragrance. Now, Frangipani OJ is not really that, because the unparalleled creamyness and almost Madagascar vanilla note of the flower is diluted by the green lime notes and the (fresh, not indolic) jasmine and the lilies but overall it's a perfume that evokes now in my mind my vacation in Greece amongst the wonderful fangipani trees and flowers on our terrase. Maybe I will find a more true to the flower frangipani fragrance later on, but for now this one is sunshine in a bottle and an extremelly well done one (PS: the OJ boutique in London on Old Bond's Street customises the concentrations - their EDP comes standard in 30% oil concentration but in the boutique they can make on spot 40% and even 50%. I took mine in 40% as I found that 30% was a bit too light. But they don't do it when you buy on the site).

I had a similar experience as described by rschmidt65.. Minus the international shipping. I really loved this & was so desperate for a full sized bottle. After a long wait, I realised my chance.. Everyone wanted to know if I had something in mind for a Christmas present.. I asked everyone if they would be happy to chip in together for this wonderful, expensive perfume that i Needed in my life.. They said yes. Fast forward to Christmas day. Paper wrapping everywhere, kids going nuts, happily playing with their gifts. Time for the adults... Time for my, one, much wanted gift. The Ormonde Jayne presentation is lovely. The gift box, the packing, the gorgeous perfume box.. Beautiful, heavy, classy bottle.. Lovely! A little spritz, so the givers could share & appreciate the joy their collective gift will bring to me.. & .. Instant headache! Why!!!??? I didn't complain but I wanted to cry as I thanked everyone, whilst my head screamed at me. I'm sure that no one else in the room enjoyed it either... Not one 'oh that's nice' comment. I have tried 3 times since (would have tried more, just not keen on giving my self headaches!) Same result each time. I dont understand! I wont stop trying.. I figure, one day, I'll try again and it will be fine.

I've had this awhile. I'd gotten as far in my review as saying I "like" it, but no further. Hmm. I guess I still can't quite go into "love" territory, but I like it better than I thought I did. It's fairly strong on me with decent staying power, and I smell lime and then, mainly, tuberose, but that's fine with me, I like a big white floral in the heat of July. I hope I don't give anyone a headache. I do smell other things in here, a little lucky linden (lime) blossom; if you're witchy, you'll know that's a protective scent. The thing I think that disappointed me is that in my early teens a friend of mine brought a frangipani scented candle on a trip to the country. We sat up over our sleeping bags talking over that candle, and I never forgot what that candle smelled like. I have no idea what it was actually scented with - there's no real frangipani essential oil, as I understand it. I've never smelled actual frangipani or plumeria. I don't catch the magnolia, but I seem to be anosmic to magnolia; we have a beautiful old tree right outside our windows and I haven't been able to catch so much as a whiff of fragrance from it. Sad. Oh, my, but it's a beautiful tree, though!

Rich, sweet, mild, classy treatment of the frangipani flower and - as everyone else says - also extremely, amazingly creamy in its texture. Has a bit of a feel of well-washed silk to it - not the smell, but that slightly-peach-skin texture, luxurious without being shiny or slippery. Not the biggest or the most bombastic or original, but quite possibly the classiest frangipani scent you'll ever smell. Pretty femme, and slightly lacking in the aromatic/herbal edge which makes many other OJ florals so seductive - but it still has me absolutely won over. Sometimes linden flower can ruin a scent for me, but here I guess it's just adding a breath of freshness up top; the plum is similarly discreet, not barging in and shouting I'M A PLUM! DO YOU RECOGNISE ME? at you, but rather just rounding out the bottom end, in a diplomatic way. I did pick up on the vanilla, but not because it's overbearing, more that it undergirds the floral notes and keeps them going. A scoop of pure, rich, delicious ice cream for any consumer. Could be worn with anything, to anywhere, anytime - hard to imagine anyone objecting, ever.

Frangipani is a very fresh and summery scent with an addicting citrus-tropical kick. It opens with a delicious note of sharp lime and lime blossom, with magnolia in the background. Soon after this the frangipani takes centre stage with its fruity and tropical nuances - this is not a note you often see used, however it’s absolutely lovely. The heart is comprised of an array of fresh watery florals and a juicy plum to back up the frangipani, before developing a sweet nuttiness in the base from the vanilla. I almost get an almond accord coming through even though it’s not listed. This is a very pleasant fragrance to wear in the summer however I wouldn’t say it’s wowed me. The frangipani is a very interesting and enjoyable note however the overall scent comes across a bit too simple. I would’ve liked this to have a bit more depth to the base and take you on more of a journey.

Frangipani is a fresh and zesty summer take on a tropical floral. It is interesting while still staying familiar. I like the use of lime and linden blossom and plum here. It keeps a very strong floral like frangipani light and reduces the cloying aspects of that flower. I've been looking for a frangipani perfume for my collection. I don't know if this will be the one, I will choose but it is in the running. I don't find this overly aquatic at all. After the initial blast of lime, and linden and plum this ends up smelling very much like the frangipani trees I remember from my honeymoon w/ lingering plum, linden, lime, water lily and a light musk. This is one of the better offerings from this house. It still manages to capture nature but still smell like a perfume and not a spa. A very pretty and unique take on a rarely used flower in perfumery.

The opening of this perfume is so full of lime, lime blossom and white florals. It’s so delicately creamy and juicy, with tropical feeling. I can’t stop smelling my wrists. Then there is a phase where I can smell plum very intensely, it’s almost like a plum jam when combined with the white florals. The dry down looses the characteristics that made it so interesting at the beginning. It turns into very straightforward combination of citrus, magnolia and musk, and it becomes a very sharp scent as it looses its creaminess. I can still appreciate it, but my partner thinks that the dry down smells very cheap. For a citrus based scent, it has a great longevity (around 5 hours on my skin). I’m just a bit disappointed as I haven’t really caught frangipani notes as such in this.

This is a pretty tropical floral, fairly commercial smelling, but enjoyable to wear. According to the notes on the OJ website, it’s a mix of many different floral notes, including something called “green orchid oil”. I have no idea what that is, since I doubt that it’s extracted from a real orchid flower. Maybe it’s a type of vanilla, which is an orchid, or maybe it’s a fantasy accord called “green orchid” for lack of a better name. With plenty of sillage, this linear scent of mixed tropical flowers lasts all day. I tested this immediately after thoroughly scrubbing off a perfume that I strongly disliked, so maybe the contrast effect caused me to like Frangipani more than it really deserves, but in any case it should appeal to lovers of floral scents.

I tested the perfume on different days and now after today’s warm afternoon I felt so much to write about it. Frangipani Ormonde Jayne first impression is captivating. It’s sweet, fruity and flowery accords with lime blossom and frangipani notes clearly sensed all through the perfume. It ends with yellow flowers and musk on the base note. Frangipani OJ leans more feminine than masculine, as for me I really enjoyed it especially outdoor with 26-27C. It was really giving this fine clean feeling, tempting to smell it again and again..... seductive as my girlfriend described! Longevity and silage on my skin were ok for the first two hours. After that, the nice musky and yellow floral note still be sensed close to skin.

To me.. this smells !!!!EXACTLY!!!! like Versace - Bright Crystal!!!!!! The best part about this, is that I am allergic to bright crystal, and Frangipani is absolutely fine for me, no reaction at all! I loved bright crystal and I am very happy to find a dupe for it that does not make me suffocate :)). Also, Frangipani does not have that synthetic note that bright crystal has and lasts way longer. If you want to know what this fragrance smells like, go to your local drugstore and smell bright crystal (at least where I live, all drugstores carry bright crystal) and you'll know exactly what it smells like, minus synthetic and bitter notes. Bottom line - Frangipani is the best!

I think this is one of my favourites of the more feminine scents in the range. Unmistakeable frangi pani opening but its tamed by the lovely lime and linden blossom which lift it and prevent it becoming cloying. Magnolia and waterlily once again add further depth to the frangi pani, lime and linden blossom with are very much ephemeral top notes. This fragrance has greater longevity and richness which I think is care to the tuberose, orchid and amber. The downside with this fragrance is that my skin has as usual amped up the musk in this and spoiled it for me. Of the fruity florals this one has the greatest depth and longevity.

It took me a while to get used to the Ormonde Jayne line, because I tended to get perfume headaches from something in the base. However, I persevered and am glad to say the headaches are a thing of the past. Frangipani is a truly lovely scent but my search for the perfect frangipani continues. The lime gives a beautiful lift and cuts the headiness of the white flowers, but stops it from being completely authentic. I do like that this does not have the sweet vanilla overdose that other frangipanis suffer from. Never mind. The hunt continues and I hope that I find some more treasures along the way

Chanel's Beige put me off trying frangipani for so long - I find Chanel's Beige absolutely revolting, plasticky and rubbery, a poor imitation of what frangipani actually smells like - it smelled more like fake frangipani flowers made of foam and plastic. This one though, is actually more lime-citrus-fresh than frangipani. The lime is extremely prominent here and dominates the fragrance over all other notes. I get a hint, a wisp of frangipani in the background, and it's done extremely subtly and very elegantly here. Scent: Beautiful, but I prefer this scent in my hand soaps than in perfume. 8/10

I got this as a sample, and it’s nice! Very fruity and sweet, but it stays fresh so it’s good for summer. I mostly get red and purple fruits like plums and apricots, even in the dry down. It’s almost like a Bath & Body Works body spray grew up and traveled abroad. It doesn’t quite work on me personally, but I’d like to smell it on someone else, if that makes sense. I also think it would make an excellent first high-end fancy pants perfume for a younger person or someone new to fragrance

I grew up in the tropics and find this to be a fairly good rendition of what a frangipani flower actually smells like. I wish the buttery aspect of the flower had been incorporated - then it would have been perfect. Still, this is a lovely fragrance, especially in a hot climate, where it is delicate enough for daytime, and romantic enough for evening. If you plan to wear OJ Frangipani from day- to night, you will need to re-apply at some point, as its staying power is moderate at most.

I loved the opening few hours of this perfume. Absolutely beautiful and bright citrus with a creamy floral hint. After a few hours it wore down to a much creamier scent on my skin that I didn't love but it was okay. I wish I could keep the opening on all day! For the price of this perfume I feel it is too expensive to constantly reapply just for the opening scent though which makes me sad. I still recommend it for day use. It is not overpowering in my opinion and the scent is lovely.

Starts out as a bright floral accord with linden and lime very prominent. Voluptuous magnolia then makes a discreet showing, which quickly infuses softly into the heart. Jeca is right—the frangipani here is very delicate, but distinct. Like a waft of the flower on a cool gentle breeze, no big balmy tropics or heat. Amber, musk and vanilla add to the sweet radiance while cedar keeps it clean all the way. White voile curtains billowing in an open room of a Pacific ocean beach house...

This is gorgeous and very natural, but as far as longevity and sillage go, you get little to no bang for your buck. By all means, give this one a test run, just to experience a beautiful fragrance, but unless money is no object for you and you can afford to spritz on a $125 perfume like a body spray all day long, I wouldn't recommend purchasing this one.

While this is divine, I just saved myself some money because it is very reminiscent of Louis Vuitton Apogee- which I already own and have grown to LOVE. OJ has just a tiny tiny bit more creaminess to it, while the LV remains a bit more bright and clean overall. You cannot go wrong either way. Beautiful bright watery floral(s) with a citrus ting.

This is a great fresh and just uplifting scent. I can only imagine how great it smells in the summer. Don’t care what the stats say that it leans feminine, I’ll wear it heavy once I get a full bottle in the future.

If I did not know the name of this perfume I would not have guessed it was allegedly a frangipani fragrance. It’s a perfectly nice citrus and white floral scent, but I have many better ones in my collection.
