In the realm of perfumery, certain notes exhibit compatibility with an individual’s olfactory preferences, while others may not resonate with the same notes as effectively. Notably, saffron and vanilla stand out as two such notes that elicit a cautious response from me, prompting me to actively avoid fragrances that seem to be too dominant in either of the two. As one might anticipate, I was initially apprehensive about applying “Kashmir” as it is a perfume that comprises both the notes that do not work for me. To my surprise, however, after wearing it a few times, I am pleased to assert that “Kashmir” is an exceptional fragrance with an incredibly well-balanced composition. Upon initial application, the saffron is quite prominent, but the cardamom in this fragrance perfectly counterbalances it. I particularly appreciate the take on cardamom here, which evokes the essence of YSL’s legendary La Nuit De L’homme, one of my all-time favorite fragrances. However, the cardamom in this fragrance is more dense and is supported and elevated by the saffron. There is a touch of freshness initially, likely from bergamot, but it quickly dissipates, and the fragrance settles into a cardamom and saffron-dominant profile. The cardamom prevents the fragrance from becoming overly sweet, on the contrary, it is a relatively dry fragrance. As the fragrance dries down, the overall scent profile remains consistent, but the base becomes more woody. It smells like someone spread cardamom over a bed made of sandalwood and cedarwood, adorned with a few petals of rose atop a soft bedsheet made of cashmere; all this is set in a room with aged wooden furniture where incense is burned regularly, and the wood carries the scent of the incense. In its final stages, the fragrance transforms into a musky and woody skin scent. The overall blend is exceptional, and the scent profile evokes a sense of quiet power, peace, and luxury at a level accessible to few on the planet. Nothing about this fragrance comes off as synthetic or of low quality; it is a top-shelf product, and at least as of now, it seems to me that it is criminally overlooked. In my personal experience with this fragrance, its projection is notably present for about 2 to 2.5 hours, and during this time, it is what one may call a ‘room filler’. However, what sets it apart is the lasting silage it leaves behind. The fragrance’s longevity is exceptional, persisting throughout the entirety of a workday. This fragrance exudes an elegant and opulent aura, making it suitable for special occasions. It is unisex and can be worn at any time of the year, except during the summer months and extremely hot days. Due to its intensity, I can see it becoming overwhelming really quick in hot climate conditions. I had the opportunity to sample this fragrance from my brother’s bottle. The specific bottle bears the batch number 4610240 - 03044, and all the experiences I have shared are based on this particular batch.

After testing it out for the whole day, here are my thoughts. The atomiser is amazing! The first spray is quite strong and it takes about 10-15 seconds to unfold the magic. To me the first impression, it is a very smooth spicy woody musky scent. In the first few minutes the spice is quite prominent with the combination of pepper, coriander and saffron smelling like raw turmeric root. Those who have smelt raw turmeric root just taken out of the soil will recognise it. It’s a fresh-gingery-spicy type of opening. It has a creamy airy woody background but the main players here are the powdery florals, spice and the ever so present musk. Musk here is similar to their OJ Xi’an and contributes to that lactonic creamy Mountain-air fluffy consistency. It is very smooth outdoors but I suppose indoors without ventilation it can get stuffy and nauseating like Musc Ravageur. The dry down is very comforting with creamy sandalwood and soft vanilla. I would not wear this in warmer temperatures. In my opinion this is unisex but slightly male leaning. The sillage in breezy cool conditions is absolutely fantastic for the first 3-4 hours. Total longevity performance on skin is 7-8 hours and clothes about 12 hours. Very classy, intimate, soft and well blended throughout. This perfume is all about the wearing experience and should not be judged from a strip of paper.

A place where time feels slower, and everything smells fresh, natural, and pure. That’s exactly what Kashmir, the fragrance, reminded me of. I used to consider Montabaco Intensivo my favorite—until I tried Kashmir. One spray, and I was instantly transported back to an elite hotel in Dubai, where an unforgettable aroma followed me through the luxurious lobby, quiet corridors, and a spa full of natural oils. Kashmir brought all of that back. It’s not the typical spicy scent. It’s elegant—blending sweet spice, creamy sandalwood, soft iris, cashmeran, and warm musk. It smells like class, peace, and luxury. Loud, yes—but in the best way. It fills a room and makes a statement without trying too hard. Some people online called it synthetic, and honestly, I couldn’t disagree more. To me, it smells meditative, calming, and completely natural—just like the land it’s named after. Kashmir has taken the crown. I’m in love—and I already know I need a backup bottle.

Insanely complex, and absolutely not for boys chasing trends. This is unapologetically manly, high-fashion, old-money understated, and achingly sophisticated. Warm, cozy, and quietly expensive without flashing Guccis or Louis Vuittons. It’s a masterclass from Geza Schoen, with Linda’s soft, airy touch keeping everything balanced. Intensely woody, delicately spiced up top, and chiseled from Himalayan stone, this moves me. It’s my favorite of all the Ormonde Jaynes in my collection. I love how it unfolds on the skin. They don’t make them like this anymore; it could sit proudly alongside Guerlain’s golden-era creations. And oh, how I adore it.

Spicy and warm, a brief shadow of bergamot's freshness appears then blends back into the smooth woodiness, a creamy quality rises up, and then a touch of iris to steady it all.. hints of dustiness but not in that suffocating way at all....a touch of vanilla makes its distant presence known.......ach....so evocative. It's a journey pure and simple. There is something pure about it. Very sophisticated, incredibly elegant....Not one note overwhelms in any way. No harshness, blended sooooo well, so smoothly...Not sure how long it's lasting on me yet...mmm.. but yes, I'm in love. Deeply.

If you’re lucky, somehow you run across a house that just does almost everything to your taste. Ormonde Jayne is that house for me, and Kashmir is its A-plus plus in a line already stacked with A-pluses. I don’t find this to be a pyramidal fragrance, but one with that pushes and pulls between the woody and resinous aspects notes throughout. A meditation on creamy woods drifts back and forth into slightly smokier resins, all of it polished and precisely blended. Kashmir is never loud but always present. It’s just a beautiful fragrance - one I would happily gift to my closest friends.

Kashmir is the most beautiful perfume I have ever smelt. Without exaggeration. It's got presence; personality. It conveys confidence yet femininity or masculinity or gender fluidity. The perfect blend of the ingredients make it very difficult to pick out individual notes unlike other perfumes that quickly change after application this one stays on for longer (at least on the test strip). I envision a formal occasion for wear such as defending my PhD in the future. Definitely bottle worthy for me. So delicate and soft just like cashmere itself. Very impressed with the brand too.

Another beauty from Ormonde Jayne! This is a complex yet seamless perfum. It fulfils many desires - she is warm she is spicy - she even has a deep citrus vibe which reminds me of drinking hot fruity drinks on a perishingly cold day. Kashmir evokes incredible warm feelings, she is much more than the effect of a favourite cashmere jumper but that comforting effect is present. Possibly the perfect winter scent to wear anytime, anywhere. Thrilled by this beautiful and very original fragrance!

Soft, spicy, warm and powdery. It doesn't fall into any particular category, the spicy, floral, resinous and musky elements all combine to create something unique and complex. There's a lot going on here but not too much. I mainly get the musk, saffron, sandalwood, corriander and patchouli with a sliver of incense throughout - a gentle and silvery incense. Equally suited to be worn on a date as well as the office. Sensual smooth and super clean, it can be worn in any situation, day or night. There is a strange baby powder/ baby wipes funk to this but it's not off putting and is more prevalent the closer you are to it. Not a safe blind buy as it's pretty animalic. Update: after wearing this a lot I can say that the airy, high altitude open space vibe that people say they get from this is definitely there, it's still animalic, still has that baby powder/wipes funk but what a fragrance. This thing's a hidden gem.

This opens with saffron and the bright spice of coriander and rosy pink pepper, joined by cardamom and slightly citrus tinged, light florals, mostly iris and jasmine. It is incensy and resiny already - sweet benzoin and bitter myrrh, which are light. The incense is opened by its own lemony aspects. It is very nicely balanced in this way. Yummy, enjoyable, wearable incense resin. A woody, smooth musk drydown. Soft, spiced, woody, musky and dry. Sadly not very strong.

it's complex and interesting, I like it a lot all the stripes with descriptions from warm spicy down to metallic do fit the bill, it's all of it it's spicy and aromatic at the opening, with warm sweet florals, with powdery iris, with very prominent fir balsam in the heart it's perfectly unisex but I'd like to smell it on a man well done but clearly not everyone's cup of tea

Saffron and cardamom and the typical Ormonde Jayne base that is slightly sweet and spicy. All the other notes are blended in and it's difficult for me to pick up something in particular. To me it smell a bit mature and hence it is an elegant one in my opinion. But this is not something I would wear or buy. Longevity seems excellent. I guess for most people that would be a "like". For me it is "Ok" because I smelled so many perfumes like this one before.

A vanillic musk fragrance which somehow sidesteps the enormous cliche that description might have you thinking it's like (then again it might not?) I personally found it woodier and certainly with that cardamom note particularly in the opening giving a signature Schoen sort of minimalism. It's okay, I like musky perfumes but this isn't particularly memorable on that front either. I liked it though.

I was very excited to try this due to the saffron note. I do not detect the florals, I think the woods and resins overpower the florals. I like it, but not a love. Drydown was the best part.

There are certain perfume houses that possess an unmistakable, unique quality—a DNA that runs through their entire lineup. While it’s often hard to pinpoint exactly what that "secret sauce" is, you know it when you smell it. Ormonde Jayne is definitely one of those houses for me. I currently have five of their fragrances in my collection, with Kashmir being the latest addition, and that signature DNA is present in all of them. Kashmir is a bit of a shapeshifter. Looking at the note breakdown, it’s difficult to pull out individual notes because the composition is so coherent and well-blended. To my nose, it’s primarily about the woods. The official brief highlights Deodar Cedar as the main player—a note I haven't encountered in the wild, but here it feels elegant and relatively sweet. It’s a definite crowd-pleaser. On my skin, the scent is quite linear, which I don't mind at all when the initial profile is this good. I also detect a significant "chunk" of Evernia (another OJ fragrance I own) floating in the background. That might actually be the DNA I’m talking about and I can see the comparisons between the two, though Evernia lacks this sweetness and leans much harder into the moss. Despite the name, this isn't a "cashmeran" scent; it's named after the region in the northern Indian subcontinent. However, it does possess an enveloping, cozy quality reminiscent of a high-quality cashmere sweater. If you smell it right off the skin, there’s a hint of "funk" underneath that adds a layer of sexiness, but Kashmir truly shines in the air—the sillage trail it leaves is gorgeous. If you’re a fan of the noble house of Ormonde Jayne, Kashmir is a mandatory sample and a worthy bottle for the collection. It’s beautiful, super wearable, and exactly the kind of classiness I’ve come to expect from the brand. A sophisticated, woody staple that proves Ormonde Jayne still knows how to master the art of the "signature scent."

This one is definitely not for me; did not work with my chemistry. At first it smelt vaguely reminiscent of the original Montabaco....but then something changed and it ended up smelling like a dirty diaper or a port-o-potty that had been used the day after being cleaned. I ended up having to wash it off because I couldn't stand it. It may work well for people whose skin works with this spice combo, but it went rancid on me. ~ (03/04/25) My above review was after trying the sample of Kashmir. I'm not sure if it was the sample, my skin or nose that day, or what......I recently had the opportunity to retry this scent from the full bottle, and it smells like a completely different fragrance. This second time trying it, I can see what everyone is talking about. There's something just under the surface that I can smell that I can see changing into that diaper-like monstrosity it became on me before, but I don't know what did that. Trying it today, I immediately smelled the Rose. Then, I could smell the spices and woods blending together to create an aroma similar to fresh, clean, snowy mountain air. I'm not sure if the description lead me or what, but it's a beautiful, crisp, floral, musky scent. It reminds me slightly of Silver Mountain Water, and how that one also is reminiscent of clean, snowy mountain air. But Kashmir is more floral and musky. Even though it's floral, it is a universal fragrance that anyone can where. What this scent has done on my skin makes it an enigma to me, and I will continue to try it to see how it does with different wears. I suggest, if you feel like it smells rank on you, try it again. Especially if your first try is from a sample vial vs the full bottle.

This is my first review on this site. I have maybe 200 blind buys and I think there are only a few that I don’t like. I was stoked for this one, and the reviews are generally very positive. The descriptions in the reviews and the notes give a strong indication that this is something I would like very much. On my skin this smells like straight piss - as I’m actually smells like urine. I’ve heard of frags smelling pissy before but I haven’t smelled it myself until this one. On my first wearing I thought maybe it had a bad interaction with a lotion I had applied before, but I just tried it again and..... piss. Given the rest of the reviews I almost think I got a bad batch or something. I bought it from a reputable discounter that has a perfect track record with me so far (Fragbuy Canada) so I’m pretty sure it’s not a fake. It gets a bit better on dry down but still not great. Anyone else find this smells like piss?

one of the best discoveries in 2024. This is a fragrance that actually smells like Old Money and Quiet luxury, but with fantastic longevity and projection. I think its a mature scent that definitely doesn't have the old school vibe but I do detect there some addictive nostalgia. Maybe its the boldness and complexity mixed with the aromatic scent DNA common in many 90s masterpieces. I do appreciate that many OJ fragrances share the same signature DNA with the soft powdery woody base that actually creates a smooth, deeply luxurious and signature worthy scent.

Sweet, balsamic, woody. I think it's a little more synthetic than most Ormonde J fragrances that I have tried. To me this is leaning masculine, reminds me a little bit of Staelios. A little bit too Boring and synthetic.

It also has a cold, crisp layer to it coming from the incense and myrrh, very similar to New Look 2024 by Dior. I like it!
