Montabaco Aruba 2025

@EmJay87’s review is spot on. Aruba is a beautiful fragrance with a radiant, fruit-floral brightness that feels airy and almost weightless. There’s a faint, earthy undertone from the tobacco that gives it subtle texture, yet it never tips into heaviness. It wears ethereal, refined, and somewhat academic—like a clean, confident student stepping into a library and opening old, dusty books. While it will draw compliments and curiosity, for me it falls short in intensity, especially for a high-end niche release. I suspect it may grow on me with time, as there’s an elegance in its restraint that hints at deliberate artistry, but for now I find myself wishing it carried just a bit more presence to match its price tag. There’s no such thing as overspraying this—go in heavy if you want it to truly shine. Update: Compared to Rio and Cuba, this one feels more balanced. It doesn’t fully tip into the sweet, fruity territory of Rio, nor does it carry the tea like fresh edge of Cuba. To my nose, this edition offers the strongest tobacco-woody character of the three, making it the most grounded and textured in the line.

Going to attempt to describe this, because it can be difficult to understand this fragrance’s vibe without testing it. Aruba is one of the “least” Montabaco fragrances I’ve tried. I’ve got Intensivo, Verano, Aruba, and have tried Rio and Cuba. I’ll use Intensivo as a base, assuming the reader has at least tried that one: Verano is Intensivo with grapefruit at the top, and is a slightly bitter but still sweet citrus fragrance that eventually settles closely to the Intensivo. It still remains fresh, and you can still pick up the grapefruit, but it is very close to Intensivo. The mountain air accords and dry tobacco are present and easy to detect. Verano = “fresh” Intensivo. Cuba (my favourite) is like Verano, but the citruses are sweeter, and honestly this is what I expected Verano to smell and feel like. Cuba is basically a much better Verano. The citruses at the top are different, but they feel like they were trying to do the same thing, only Cuba did it better. Cuba = “sweet” Intensivo. Rio is sugary sweet, tropical at the top, and the most feminine (to my nose). To me, it is barely a Montabaco fragrance. In fact, it could be its own line and you wouldn’t smell it and think it was a Montabaco flanker. Rio = “tropical” Intensivo, but barely Intensivo. Finally - Aruba. The Montabaco DNA is at the base, but it isn’t very strong. What you get here is a masculine floral powdery fragrance in the vein of Prada L’Homme, Iris Cedre etc. The violet is very prominent, and it is powdery/floral/clean in the Prada style, but instead of resting on a base of cedar like most iris/violet men’s fragrances do, it rests on the dry, tobacco base of Montabaco Intensivo, and on my skin, the cardamom really comes out in the dry down. Like a lot. In a good way. Aruba = “powdery floral” Intensivo. Aruba, I can imagine, will be slightly too feminine for men who like distinctly masculine fragrances, but will probably be too masculine for women. Personally, I like it. But I hope that breakdown helped.

I picture you’re in a purple silk long sleeve dancing Bachata in Aruba with your lady at night at the bar and the vibes are definitely there. I see this as a nighttime version of Montabaco Cuba. I like Cuba more but this is better for nighttime. The purple floral vibe comes through I guess it’s that violet. Lots of tobacco. Very nice 7/10. Not too strong but it’s a summer tobacco fragrance what do you expect. Cuba is also stronger which I like that more too. Cuba is a 9/10 but this a 7/10 because I get a CK One vibe with the florals here but very nice. More musky than Cuba. I like this more than Montabaco Rio . Vanilla, suede, rose, and silk far in the back. Unisex. I’ll get a 10ml and that’ll be good for life for me on this fragrance. With further wearing I think it’s too weak to warrant a purchase at this price at any size and I’d say it lasts 2-3 hours no bs. Weak projection. Very intimate.
