Montabaco Rio

Wow - scrumptious! For me it was - Xerjoff Cruz del Sur II that was one of the best mango scents at first. Still amazing. I found over time however that it was just that little bit too much in sweetness that made it more a novelty than a signature worthy or dressy scent for a guy. Then I came across Gritti Mango Aoud. A brand that is a bit of an undiscovered gem. This scent as a carded sample almost got me to order it straight away. The oud was almost non existent but just enough to take the edge of the sweetness and give it a fleshy darkness. But alas it was just a tad too sweet. Here, I found my mana. Being a tobacco fan and indeed a Montabaco fan - loving Intensivo and Verano. I just had to buy a bottle - hits the spot. The usual strong blonde tobacco in this version takes a back seat. Instead, here the mango is very much photo realistic but airy instead of deep and oily thanks to the bergamot and fruit - watered down if you like, just enough, so that a person won’t think you’ve dropped a mango pip freshly eaten in your top pocket. The tobacco is there, perhaps a bit sedate and caramelised so that you get that beautiful whiff complimenting the fruit but not overpowering. Just enough infact that you have to do a double take to make sure the signature tobacco scent is there. Perfectly done - giving me a novelty that I can wear even in a professional setting that entertains me all day!

This is so GOOD! The opening is very fruity. Well blended though. Not screechy or too sweet but very tropical. I thought it was too feminine at first but as it dries down that classic Montabaco DNA comes out. It just works. I don’t have Erba pura but I do have Al Haramain Amber oud gold edition and I can see how they can be compared but they are very different. This blended so smoothly and isn’t cloying by any means. I think this would also smell amazing on my wife to. 100% unisex. And the bottle is fire to. I bought montabaco intensivo, verano, Cuba, and now rio all within the past 2 months and I’ll honestly rate them all 10/10. Maybe because it’s new to me and they’re nothing like what I have in my 200+ collection but as of now these are top 5 in my collection for sure

Beautiful perfume, leaning more feminine than unisex. Could be worn in any season. I wanted to love it and buy, but it's just too feminine for me. The light Ormonde Jayne base combined with fruitiness pushes it to feminine side, although if you dissect it to Ormonde Jayne DNA and you add fruits to it, you can call it unisex. If you're a guy aiming for very fruity vibe that will project like crazy in heat, check Summer Hammer.

This is a beautiful scent! Sweet & fruity but grown and sexy !! Got some depth to it !! A gorgeous sweet fruit basket (no note overshadowing the rest) or sweet fruity tea then comes the tobacco & suede....its giving soft oud or even soft leather on my skin, just beautiful! Will be great as an evening scent during spring/summer. Could be unisex but leaning feminine due to the sweetness.

The Montabaco DNA is clearly detected underneath this absolutely beautiful fruity, extremely elegant notes. The projection is mild but is a fantastic flanker. Very unisex, at least on my skin and very fresh and airy. Total full bottle worthy but the price is still a little high.

This is a beautiful fragrance that is very reminiscent of Erba Pura (Xerjoff) because of its fruity aspect but also very close to Prima Donna (Sospiro) because of its leathery/smoky aspect as well. I happen to own Prima Donna and I believe it is far superior to Montabacco Rio in terms of longevity and overall quality. I no longer own Erba Pura because it just didn’t work on my skin, it made me feel a bit queasy. Montabacco Rio doesn’t have that effect on me, thank goodness! It’s just that its longevity is too short. It barely passed the 2 hours mark and it is now a skin scent and for that reason, it will be a pass for me. I am very grateful to have been able to smell this (I actually have a 10 ml decant) and I will gladly use it during the end of this Winter and the early Spring. It is very nice but once I am done with my decant, I will not purchase a full bottle. Owning Prima Donna makes owning this one redundant...

Oh, yummy! I really like this! It's sweet, creamy and rich. I don't like Erba Pura, but I really like this & I can totally see why it's being compared. This montabaco line is fantastic. I purchased a full bottle of Montabaco Flor. 💕

The opening didn’t appeal to me, a bit too strong and masculine. But after it settles down, it becomes smoother and more wearable. Still leans a little masculine on my skin.

Rio tends to lean more toward a feminine line; anyone who thinks otherwise must be a man who feels hurt when it rains on him. It’s a mango-dominant, tropical scent on a clean and safe track like Cuba — easy to wear without being tiring. If you’re a woman, go for Cuba and Rio; if you’re a man, go for Verano and Montabaco Intensivo.

It’s more of a fruity fragrance with a woody, musky base, and it turns into caramel milk candy in the dry down. It’s okay on the blotter, but very sweet on my skin. I’ll pass.

Nothing about this is fresh or airy as the summary comments say. It`s dense and a lot is going on not in the best way.

Love at first sniff. It's a mature fruity fragrance that shines in the heat. Do not be afraid to wear it with shorts and a t-shirt but it hits differently in summer linen or boots, jeans and a slim fit short sleeve button down shirt. I bought it from Osme in Miami on the way to Rio (celebration of my first trip to Rio). It worked beautifully.

It opens with a beautiful pineapple but I just personally can’t get along with the tobacco note on the drydown. It’s a weird mix of fruity and woody.

Guys everything fruity does NOT smell like Erba Pura and actually it's more in the vein of if Porthole and the Montabaco DNA had a baby
