Rose Gold

This one gives me chills and a big smile. It reminds me of Ta'if, but with Ta'if I could never quite get past the jasmine note. I love smelling jasmine in person, but I like it in passing whiffs and not just stuck to my body, as it turns quickly on my body. Rose Gold has the same rose + jasmine combo as Ta'if, but it's cut with lime and very mild pepper and a fizziness that tempers the jasmine, so I can now enjoy the indolic jasmine this time in the whole composition. I know what I described probably sounds like 1000 other fragrances, but somehow I could easily pick Rose Gold out of a crowd. It makes me feel like I'm standing out without drowning out others or being garish. So glad I was able to try this one. It would be my signature late spring through mid fall, if I could afford it. I will have to savor my decant instead. Moderate sillage and decent projection, but not a beast (though heavy spraying could get you there with this one). Update: After several wears, I found the the jasmine too indolic, as with other OJ fragrances I've tried. I do still get the occasional craving for it and don't have anything else quite like it still, so I am glad I have a big travel size, but that is all I need.

My new baby!! Read the notes and the reviews on here and had the chance to try in Selfridges on a trip to Manchester. In my typical style I had sprays of 4 different perfumes on my hands and arms!! Something was gorgeous but which one was it? Initially I disregarded this as being too similar to others that I have but fortunately I had been given a sample which I was able to wear on it's own for a full day. Definitely get the initial lime (and who would have thought that lime would go with rose!!) but then the most wonderful Ta'if rose rises through and wow!! Even my husband said I smelled lovely and he rarely notices the multitude of my different perfumes. I never really had myself down as a rose lover but changed my mind when I met Rose Oud By Kilian. This one is competing as a new favourite. Selfridges have the most wonderful perfume department with many niche brands and the staff are very friendly and helpful. They willingly gave lots of samples and I would highly recommend a visit for fellow addicts like me.

Wore this yesterday from a sample. OMG, this is great. The opening is really bracing, very sharp lime and bergamot. Then it transitions into the most beautiful rose fragrance, underpinned by gorgeous ambery musky sweet notes and this wonderful slight warm spiciness (perhaps the carnation in combination with the oud?). The lime still stays around, in a much more subtle way than at the start, throughout the heart of the fragrance, making this smell both sweet, deep, warm, AND sparkling at the same time. It's inviting, luxurious, feminine, delicious! I feel like this should be worn by someone far more beautiful and elegant than me but I don't care. If I had the money I would buy a bottle tomorrow and wear this every day!

One of the best rose scents ever created. Not a warm, cloying, sweet rose, but more of a pungent, hesperidic, yet fragrant and aromatic rose from TAIF. It's an original. A masterpiece. Immediately you feel like a £1m (pounds, not dollars, lol). There is a metallic, cooling and soothing quality to this fragrance and it is also somewhat peppery, oudhy, and musky. Mainly geared for women, but I think a man with a feminine, yet confident touch to his personality can equally well wear and pull this off. Highly recommended for spring, summer, day or night. Definitely a modern classic with a twist, personality and soul. Verdict: 10/10 (I want it very baaad, but it is a bank breaker).

Ormonde Jayne is honestly my favorite brand. They serve every note like it’s covered in gold leaf, super radiant, insanely elegant, and peaceful in a divine way. Like a literal god/goddess aura. They make me love every notes. Everything melts into each other so smoothly, blended together with this almost otherworldly kind of beauty. If anyone can find the old version of this perfume, lucky them. I honestly think it might be one of the best women’s fragrances in the world. A distant, mysterious, yet quietly content kind of beauty. A rose so beautiful it could literally make someone who hates rose tear up.

A stunningly beautiful and sophisticated Floriental centered around a lovely Taif Rose, this is quite a delicious offering from Ormonde Jayne. The perfume opens with bright aromatic notes of lime, bergamot, sage and neroli. The heart has the beautiful Taif Rose surrounded by geranium, jasmine, lily and orchid. The perfume settles into a base of ambrette seeds, pink pepper, sandalwood, and slight hints of oud and labdanum. Unisex scent with moderate to strong projection and very good longevity. Delicate and sensual, classy and not overpowering. Enjoy!

This review is for old dark pink bottle! Gezaaaaaaaaa!!! You are a genius. This is something else, creativity, elegance and perfectionism. Rose Gold is beyond my words, I also have the newer version ( clear bottle) and something is not quite right. Older version is superior. A beast, a titan. When I wear this fragrance I feel like I’m the only woman in this world. Thank you Geza, your nose worth billions of dollars.

A radiant, sophisticated spicy rose solifore. It is truly regal. I love Ormonde Jayne and Rose Gold is one of my favorite perfumes. However, this is not an everyday, every occassion scent. Sillage is highly diffusive, though in an elegant way, like a blinding diamond necklace. Suited for parties and outdoor events or home enjoyment. I would avoid for intimate dinners.

Really beautiful,luxurious,nocturnal and enveloping! a beautiful very elegant rose, arrives after a couple of minutes where the perfume becomes almost "velvety", a magnificent combination of notes that light up in an autumn evening... evocative, beautiful!! This is an incredibly beautiful rose fragrance. Not really geared towards men, but i’ll buy a bottle and wear it anyways just because it smells so damn good. My sample has already gotten me a few overwhelming compliments

It really sucks that these Gold Collection offerings have NO LONGEVITY! Otherwise Rose Gold is stunning! Performance is unacceptable! I'm talking about an hour. Sad!

This is absolutely gorgeous! Smells a lot like OJ Black Gold, but with more rose, obviously. Very elegant take on woody rose scent. Love!

nawab of oudh with rose. I prefer nawab. Good scent but nothing new. if i haven't got nawab i’d like buy this but i have.

It's a remastered gilded version of another Ta'if. Bergamot and sweet neroli oil, Ambrette creates fresh top notes, a very brand-signal flavor that is easily accepted by consumers. The rich rose with Pink Pepper blooms at the moment when the ambergris is revealed. The low-concentration dates add color to the refreshing rose wrapped in balsam, with an overflowing sour fragrance. The balsam softens the sour taste, and the rose slowly becomes powdery. The evil ambergris is everywhere. The base of this work is made of ebony, but fortunately it is not rampant, it is the characteristic expression of the British brand Ormonde jayne, restraint. The Fougere element of Clary Sage gives Rose Gold a frosted, rough grained feel that lingers. The ebony so far is ok. A very elegant rose.

I read an article recently where a lifelong perfumer stated 'People are born with a scent preference that doesn't change throughout their lifetime'. My scent preference is floral green and oriental floral (chypres). Ouds, it appears, is not my preference. While I wouldn't call Rose Gold a stinker, I don't enjoy it's company and looked to end our relationship sooner than later. This is a high quality scent, but on me the notes play out like an Italian family gathering.... I.e., a bunch of loud voices competing with each other. I just can't relax with this fragrance and thus, it's a no for me.

Incredibly strong lime in the beginning - almost feels like the beads of oil squeezed from the skin of a lime are beading up on my skin. This tempers down about one hour into wear, after which I get an aqueous, soft, pink-petalled rose. Very simple. Close up, to my nose, has that same dry-bitter-powdered-woodsy base I also get with Black Gold. Soft projection and moderate longevity. Leans feminine in the mid because of the soft, sweet rose.

I received a sample of this and tested it out on a sample strip, but not on my skin just yet. I'm extremely doubtful that a man could pull this off. The only scenario in which I could really see this working on a man is at a very formal, black-tie event. Granted, it's rich, dense, and undeniably original, but I just can't get past the feminine association I have with rose. Granted, I love plenty of men's fragrances with rose in them, but there's always a note that brings it back toward the masculine vibe (or at least plants it firmly in unisex territory). But the citrus/rose/orchid/carnation/lily notes are all pretty powerful and just feel like this might be too feminine for me, even though I would never use the word "masculine" to describe myself. Maybe my body chemistry will bring something out of it. I'm hopeful because I love unique, original fragrances that don't remind you of 20 other scents. TBD UPDATE: After trying this on my skin, I'm fairly sure it's NOT for me. I love bold frags (and expect borderline "beast mode" performance from anything over $300/100ml), but this was over-the-top intense. For the first hour or so, I just kept saying "WOW," and not in a good way. It's the first fragrance I've tested that, IMHO, sincerely deserves the attribute "cloying" that is so overused to describe anything people don't particularly enjoy. This stuff nearly had my eyes burning, and I seriously considered washing it off, which would have been a first for me. I felt like I had marinated in liquid potporri for a week. After a long while of near asphixiation, it calmed down to a surprisingly subtle skin scent that was a little more nuanced than the initial, seemingly neverending first blast. The next day, I could easily still smell it on my clothes, and I didn't dislike it. But "not disliking" a frag is not my barometer of success, and I still can't shake the association I have with strong, feminine, florals like this to outdated, old-lady perfume. Bottom line, some obviously love this. And I found it intriguing (albeit too feminine for me) on the test strip. But the actual experience of wearing this stuff practicaly gave me a migraine...

The opening of Rose Gold is peppery, fizzy, citrusy and aromatic, with noticeable sharp sweet peppery pink pepper and herbal aromatic clary sage. The opening is quite similar to Black Gold but brighter, sweeter and without the juniper. However, after a few minutes, a beautiful rose accord becomes prominent. It is listed as Taif rose, but it doesn’t have the lemony and tart facets of Taifi rose. It is sweet, bright, fruity, fresh and smooth without any sharpness. It doesn’t feel jammy and doesn’t have honey like sweetness, the sweetness feels more like fruity sweetness (Litchi like). The rose is paired with a noticeable spicy floral carnation note that adds a classical vibe to the scent. The base has Ormonde Jayne and Geza Shoen signature Iso E Super-heavy base that shares similarities with other fragrances from the house with its musky woody transparent scent but the rose is also noticeable in the base. Overall, Rose Gold feels like a rosy version of Black Gold. I also feel that it is more versatile and not as serious as Black Gold.

Rose Gold Extrait has the trademark Ormonde Jayne woody herbal, citrus base, creating a beautiful unexpected scent with florals, here the Ta'if rose. The opening of the scent on my skin is very peppery, with pepper and carnation, lots of woods and oud. Citruses, pepper and oud dominate the opening. From the opening I did not think I would like the fragrance, because I normally do not like fragrances with heavy oud notes. But as Rose Gold developed it became very beautiful. The rose note takes over midway through the development and creates a warm, elegant atmosphere. with the sage, musk and resins. The drydown holds the best of all the notes in a perfectly blended ensemble. It lasts well on my skin and has good sillage. This is definitely a nighttime scent and it demands that you dress up if want to wear it.

I wish I could get more rose from this scent. I get a ton of sage and bergamot, a ton of labdanum. That made the scent feel agrestic, almost a fougere for the first minutes. When finally I get the rose, it is a green thorny rose, with some jasmine and a weird mustiness. I guess the jasmine is too indolic. The drydown is woody, with some oud to make things more difficult. This is not the rose of my dreams...maybe the one of my nightmares! Sample it first. This is not a sweet dewy rose scent.
