Royal Elixir

I received a sample of Ambre Royal by Ormonde Jayne and fell in love with the scent. Finding out there is an extrait version available, I simply had to have a full bottle. For me, this is the definition of what perfume should be. RE smells so glamorous and luxurious. The notes combine into an almost leathery vibe, reminiscent of an expensive couture designer handbag. It’s masterfully blended yet searching deeper I get the jasmine and orchid that lend a bitterness, and this is given texture by a powdery orris note. Lots of naturals here, it oozes quality. Performance is strong. Two squirts and I’m bubbled in an arm-length cloud of beauty which lasts for hours. It’s an addictive, sexy and intoxicating scent. It smells monied and leans slightly feminine to my nose, although my girlfriend wore it and found it too masculine for her taste. Wow!!!!! So so so sexy! This was an instant "gotta get a back up bottle" fragrance!!! It is just so beautiful and so elegant! It's white floral but not too white floral, it's amber but not too much amber and it's the perfect sprinkling of patchouli!!! If you're worried that it's going to be alien, fear not! This is leagues above alien!! If you're worried it's too indolic, have no fear! I can't see anyone not falling for this!!!

Arguably my favorite fragrance. It's perfect for every occasion. A nice balance of freshness with earthiness. I get florals, amber, powder, mint, and patchouli. For me it's the perfect clean fragrance. It has the perfect scent bubble. The spillage is godly and I've received compliments from 20 ft after it was caught in the wind. It lasts all day. It's just phenomenal. I hate that it was discontinued.

Update after a few months: Still mega awesome Super strong, smooth, potent Amazing scent on a few points. First off, note that it delivers on the Elxir front: it is VERY strong! The usual Ormonde Jayne are lighter while still having amazing longevity and a good projection but this is beyond that. :-) Globally, it is like Ormonde Man but much stronger.

Royal Elixir is a very elegant and refined scent. It's top notes of osmanthus and jasmine shine throughout the day. Followed by woody, flowery and green notes in the dry down. I spray a few times and I'm good for the rest of the day. Lasts and lasts on me. Can be worn in the day or nigh. Delicious!!

as said below, this perfume is PHENOMINAL! definite fbw. the scent goes through 3 changes on my skin and each one of them is amazing. scent 10/10 longevity 10/10 projection 10/10 its only con is that it doesn't exist in a 100ml bottle..

Can’t help it but spray it in the morning before doing breakfast. It is so so good and delicate, one of the best mood lifters I own.

If you want to buy a 10/10 fragrance, this one is right choose. FANTASTIC.

I have Amber royal & I love it. This one is the same smell but stronger & intensified. Amber royal is an all year round scent, however, I would avoid the elexir in the summer because it is very heavy. It is not easy to describe how this actually smells you have to try it but I would say roses are the most obvious note. 2 sprays on the back of the neck + 1 on each shoulder & you are good for 8+ hours. I would not buy a full bottle while I have the edp because it will be redundant, however, if I don’t have the edp I would go for the Elexir because I love heavy intense fragrances. Performance of the edp is acceptable & could be detected 5/6 hours after application but this is stronger & denser.

I really like this. Royal Elixir is a refreshing amber forward fragrance. That being said, since she has a lot of amber I don't think this is mass appealing or for beginners. Never the less, she's lovely. The green notes & osmanthus makes this fragrance so unique, chill, and somewhat dewy. This house has been growing on me lately and this definitely possesses the Ormonde Jayne DNA-- a DNA that I would describe as being 'crisp'.. I adore it! Perfectly unisex and a safe blind buy for fans of amber.

I am crazy about everything Ormonde Jayne. But this one, this was my first love from this house. If I had to pick only one Niche house perfumes to wear, it would be Ormonde Jayne.

Grassy, rooty, cool, and slightly medicinal. The floral notes add a reedy, muted bit of sweetness. To me this smells like cattails, dandelions, chamomile, and breeze through tall marsh grass. But with a bit of a gauzy, synthetic vibe as well. With regard to the Alien comparisons: Royal Elixir opens with a certain green, reedy naturalism that leans in the opposite direction to Alien's sleek, plastic-y otherness. However, as it dries down the similarities definitely show themselves, with cool, sleek jasmine and fuzzy, synthetic amber. It's never been a scent-profile I vibe with, so this is a pass for me.

This would be a good scent for a 45+ year lady. When I spray it on mid-30 myself, it feels old. It is strong, assertive, complex and on a heavier side. Not too sweet, well balanced. Fruity-flowery-woody a little of everything. A bit too sharp-herbal and camphor, if it makes sense. It's covered by rounded sweetness, but it's there and this is what makes it "old" for me. I much more enjoy Ormonde Jane's Byzance - it's dreamy and cozy, like dried-apricot, vanilla and some leather to my nose. Safe choice for autumn and colder weather.

Wow It’s impressive how misleading can names be From my experience with OJ it brought us one of the best fresh tobacco scents in history (Montabaco) But this one was a big fat FLOP I hated this fragrance and it has a cheaper alternative which is alien by mugler Please save your money and buy alien if you like this scent it’s extremely overpriced Performance is very good

This is quite a well blended fragrance, hard to pick out notes individually. At its core, this fragrance is a tug of war between the masculine amber and the feminine floral notes. They are well balanced. This fragrance has great performance. There's a floral aspect from the jasmine blended with the other floral notes, a touch of gentle greenness, a sweet fruity aspect from the osmanthus, some of that typical crisp ambroxan giving the entire composition some sparkle. I think this is probably wearable year round, except maybe not on the hottest days of summer since it could get cloying in the heat. It's also kind of bright and sparkly and floral so it probably wouldn't be the best pick for the colder days of winter. I think this would smell great on any person. Some men might not enjoy the floral presence of this fragrance, but that's just a matter of personal taste.

Was worried about that prominent Jasmine note I'm usually not a huge fan of it but it works here. I personally don't find the jasmine as prominent here to me this is loads of non resinous but rather mild soft amber, quite some patch, ambroxan, tonnka, osmanthus, orris, and then come the florals and other notes in the background. I also smell some faint licorice, anyone else? Might be the cedar mixing with the tonka giving it that mild rubbery sweet effect. Quality scent, although not one I will be buying personally. Im more about those resins when it comes to amber scents this is not about that. Jasmine does poke it's heady head out after a good ten minutes. Licorice and mint! are present on drydown, maybe my nose but this is definitely not what I signed up for here :) ** 200 samples for swap UK - check my customs, get in touch! **

Linda Pilkington was visiting my favorite perfume store and had a chance to talk with her about her new Elixir line. Royal Elixir is the same composition as Royal Amber from the standard line except that the concentration has been increased to the maximum permitted which is 42%. The scent is very similar to Royal Amber but the increase in concentration to me increases its complexity, seems a little darker and on my skin lasts 8 plus hours, much longer than Royal Amber with last 4-5 hours. This is an amazing scent, unisex and classy scent. If you already have Royal Amber, it is probably not worth buying Royal Elixir but if you are shopping, I would go for the Elixir, worth the difference in price to me.

Screechy Jasmine and Sweet Amber - the two notes I can't stand. Yet somehow, here they work together so well it actually works. I want to connect the resulting scent with something familiar - a velvet cake, a butter cake, a bouquet of flowers, but none does it justice in describing this hypnotic scent. It's buttery, powdery, transparent (or even crystal-like), sweet, green, earthy - ALL at once!!! ALL the notes listed can be felt clearly and yet together they form something that's more than the sum of its parts. Sorry but you just have to try it!

This Juice is Beautiful smelling! Supposed to be Unisex, but it smells a bit feminine to me, but I would wear it.....................BUT.........It disappears on my skin. No projection. It disappeared on my skin afteer 30 minutes. I may have just got a bad sample from Lucky Scent, so I will try it again in a few months. I am hoping the next sample is much stronger. It is FBW and will be my signature, if the next sample is stronger! It might be my skin. Sample first!

Only one review??(probabaly because it was released this year)I've just(10mins ago) pardoned a lady in her mid 30's,asking her what she was wearing,and smelling sooo good...It was this perfume.I really enjoyed her scent trail,that instantly, I had to make a review here.I was wondering if it was made for women,but here I can see it was unisex.Very pleasant smell!Even worth blind buying.
