Tsarina Intensivo

One of my favorite scents ever made. It gives me the impression of Shalimar, but a cousin. Lately I have been going through vintage Shalimar and new Shalimar flankers to test to try to find the perfect thing for my wonderful French grandmother for the holidays. She has always worn Shalimar. There is something about this that I cannot forget with each testing of each Shalimar that makes me feel as though I should get a bottle of this to her as well. When this was getting discontinued, even though I was in my twenties at the time- it spoke to me; and I grabbed a back up for my back up of this one because it really spoke to me. Onto the fragrance! It feels like it is from a different time. It is different than every other fragrance I have ever smelled. It feels more full and rich and maybe a little “mature”. In my early 30s I feel VERY comfortable and comforted wearing it. It begins with a citrusy opening- but at the same time the suede and the buttery iris dance on my skin. There is a wave of vanilla that blends beautifully all of the notes. Everything is full force, nothing watered down, and it makes me realize how many perfumes are diluted and then Tsarina grabs hold of me again to get my full attention with a burning incense note that actually smells like it is lit. I’ve never smelled something like this before- it actually smelling “lit”. The woods blend softly with the suede and the iris never fully retreat along with the iris, it just becomes more of an abstraction. Every note in here is full figured and buttery. Completely addictive and they seem to defy certain laws of what is possible in a perfume to me. I wish this wasn’t discontinued. The EDT is nice and the EDP is nicer (even containing that lit incense note and a nice wash of vanilla) but THIS version is HEAVEN!!!

For the powerful 35+ woman who has traveled and gotten herself into trouble by choice. This is pure power, and not the obvious sexual kind.
