Xandria

I have the 50 ml bottle. It lasts for 9-10 hours. With a medium high intensity the first hour and then medium intensity. This perfume comes out with a liquor note from the rum that is going to be a main part of the perfume, because we would say that at the beginning it is more present and then perhaps it softens a little, but it is the rum that is going to make a journey through everything. the perfume, the note of rum is not lost at the beginning, the rum begins with that fresh juiciness that the apple will give you, but quickly you will have the slightly vanilla tones of the tonka bean, with that warmth and sweetness of the spice of the cinnamon, in this moment of those aromas that the perfume reflects to you, is like a set of liquor such as sweet cinnamon and vanilla. As we progress, perhaps if the apple begins to dissipate a little but we continue to drag in our aroma step both the rum and the cinnamon, which will fall on the woody part of the perfume, the woods, both the guaiac wood and the wood of oud they will give us a woody part to the perfume, that in a woman the woody tones are super elegant, but we all know that rum has a sweet touch, in the cinnamon, another sweet touch with those traces of tonka bean and in the wood It ends up being a delicious and very special set, an oud wood, which has been put in its proper measure, to give us that personality of the perfume but without eating, without overpowering, the rest of the aromas of the set. And that we can enjoy them perfectly well, this perfume ends up being like a dessert, it is like entering a kitchen where the ovens heat up the whole scene and you can feel how something is cooked in the oven, something hot, steaming, that tells you that here you have cinnamon, it has those traces of vanilla and it has those hints of rum and it ends up being something rich and delicious, the coolest thing about this perfume is that the last traces it leaves on my skin is a touch of rum. It has been fascinating to me, it has been precious to me, it was one of the perfumes that most caught my attention in this set of perfumes, which has truly been a discovery for me and a precious collection.

I have never smelt Alexandria II so will not be comparing. This opens with some woods, a little bit of sour/sweetness possibly from the (green) apple. I don’t get much rum or booze. I get a strong lavender style opening / floral component I don’t really see listed; definitely masculine. I’m not a fan of lavender, so the opening is a bit hard for me... however, the lavender becomes much more cinnamon forward powdery as opposed to the sour/sweet/floral lavender powderiness after an hour. Once the cinnamon arrives, the lavender and the powdery notes are incredible. Some people say the rum stays throughout- I say the woods stay throughout. Woods, cinnamon, powdery for the mid which lasts 3hrs on my skin. At the 4hr mark and beyond- you still have woods, and amber sweetness takes over. Cinnamon can be smelt occasionally, as can the lavender. Oud is present as well but not barnyard— however I could see it being described as slightly ‘dirty’— but in the best possible way. Lasts 10hrs on me. Im in Florida so only wear this at home or to work- haven’t tried outside yet. But I have to admit; it is very nice, and strangely addictive. Trying to find and smell the notes and even trying to understand what notes I’m picking up here is an incredible game— this fragrance is as complex as I’ve ever smelt. Absolutely incredible.

It's spectacular. The genius of Ormonde Jayne is the integration of oud into the base, from OJ Man onward, oud is a star player, not an overpowering pungency. Don't let the "rum" note deceive you, this is not a boozy fragrance, it smells of all the elements of a cozy evening in. As with all OJ fragrances, it has excellent longevity and medium sillage, a very adult fragrance. No perfumer is listed, so I extend my congratulations to Linda Pilkington for yet another fine creation.

Definitely deserves better than the 3.8 it has on this site. Powdery, sweet, spicy wood, that settles into a very cozy holiday type scent. Don't get much of the rum or apple on my skin. Cinnamon and powdery woods are the star, little bit of amber peeks through on the dry down. Perfectly unisex. Excellent longevity, high quality oils, decent sillage but a tad expensive in my opinion. 8.7/10 for me

This smells like Alexandria II and I can barely tell the difference. It's a powdery, oud and rose scent with a slight sweetness. I like how this has little dank to it. It makes this more favorable to my nose. I also really enjoy how this scent smells in the air and it travels nicely. This will certainly last all day, and I would recommend smelling this if Alexandria II interests your nose.

Smells like Alexandria II, so didn’t stimulate my olfactory receptors much. Opening was a bit boozy and fruity after thats its the cinnamon woody combo pretty close to Xerjoff’s A II, but performance not as great. Overall very pleasant fragrance, I would consider buying this once my 98 ml A II finished.

At first sniff it reminds me of Alexandria ii, but it's lighter and much dryer. When it hits the drydown and especially the next morning when i drive my nose in my elbow, it reminds me more of PDM Darley. Year round frag except high heat mid summer. Love it!

It smells like a pure oud oil that I used in the past, it doesn't have a big sillage but the longevity is very good..

I blind bought it, and love it. But it doesn't really last on me that long as everyone does. It's a shame.

Xandria is a fairly linear but impressive experience, reminding me intensely of the holidays in both their savory and sweet sides. I get dried fruits, not so much apple but something prunier and sweeter like raisins or dates, and a vanilla-cinnamon accord that flows like syrup on a dessert. As the hours pass, I get a drier wood experience than what I did initially, like oud graduating into cedarwood. I admit I really enjoy the amber and rum notes, they blend gorgeously and result in an olfactory experience that's liquid or saucy. Xandria smells complete and round, moist, super gourmand and extremely sweet but not distinguishably feminine to my nose. It's sweet in the way that's very deep and brown, a sugar and molasses reduction with a heaping spoonful of cinnamon. It would appeal enormously to the gourmand sensualist with a taste for the unisex. Personally, I prefer fruit and spice that isn't too sweet, aged, or reduced. This being both deeply sweet and oudy at the same time gives it a rank that I find very cloying. If fresh granny smith apples are on one end of the spectrum, Xandria sits at the far end of the opposite. Though Xandria has wonderful projection and integrity, the apple, if you can detect it (which I really can't), doesn't really lift the composition enough for me; it needs some citrus or a touch of cool spice to reduce that sugary, earthen rank. That said, I find it very appreciable and high quality, standing head and shoulders among many of its warm gourmand peers. If you are looking for the perfect Christmas dinner scent, this is it.

I got OJ's 'Silk Road' discovery set, so I'll be reviewing all 7 of them. What struck me (after smelling 4 so far) is that all of them remind me quite strongly of other perfumes - a little disappointing. They're nice so far, but my mind isn't blowing in the wind. This was the first one, and it strongly reminds me of a better, more smoothed-out Aoud Honey (Montale). The oud is definitely front and center, but it's not as stinky, and it's not the dark and molasses-like honey of AH, but sugar. The blend is more balanced, and neither too dark/murky/stinky, nor too sticky-sweet. It's an oud fragrance I'd actually wear (unlike most of them). Performance is good as well - moderate projection, and it's very long-lasting (days on clothes). However, no way would I spend this much on a fragrance that's not amazing.

this is my first experience with ormonde jayne. first, i find the performance to be surprisingly awful for what i perceive as a heavier scent. I find this to be pretty oud-y with a very faint undertone of tonka and apple. typically i don't care about performance - but this disappears into a skin scent within minutes - so unfortunately, that is having an impact on this review. It's a nice smelling oud/apple/tonka scent that disappears quicker than the money in your bank account after you click "submit order". 6/10

Xandria is a very interesting amber perfume. It is not too heavy, but deep and complex enough, well-nuanced, quite unique. It is reminiscent of many, but not quite the same. No note is too much in this, even the oud note. It goes well along with amber, none being too harsh. Then there is that warmth from the cinnamon and some booziness of the rum. The opening is more full on cinammon, but later it develops to a deeper, amber-oud base. I really like it.

It's okay. Heavy oriental, some oud, some musk. It is not particularly clean; it has some dirty facets, which are interesting nonetheless. I could see myself enjoying it more with time, but it is not quite my style. 6.5/10 Edit: Eventually I admit that I like it.. I use it to spray my pillows, I figured it makes a very comforting night-time scent. I will also add a characterization that I almost never use; Xandria is sexy 7.5/10

This was a shocker because wood fragrances usually smell like pencil shavings or furniture on my skin but this is beautiful and complex on my skin. I get the tonka, the cinnamon, the amber, the guaiac wood, the rum and a little bit of oud peaking through. At first, I was hesitant to purchase this fragrance because of the mixed reviews but I took a chance and it turned into an excellent choice.

Picked this up from a recommendation. It definitely did not disappoint me; it's probably the only oud-ish fragrance I own, but I like the longevity and performance. The opening is a burst of spicy sweet wood, then after (15 minutes later), all I smell is pure oud, wood, amber, and musk. 7.8 out of 10.

I really want to like this fragrance, as it has so many notes that I enjoy in other perfumes, but the notes here are sharp and don’t seem to blend well. I got the sample set for Route de la Soie (which included Xandria) and have the same issue with all of the samples. Everything’s very... sparkly. Maybe it’s the Ormonde Jayne DNA and the type/concentration of other ingredients they use (ISO E maybe?). The notes separate from each other distinctively in a clean way, which I think some people might actually like, but I like fragrances that are muddier and seamless. The way this one separates smells too synthetic to me. So I find myself not wanting to wear this despite how much I love oud, earth, and spices. Longevity is very good, could smell it the day after on clothes. You do get anosmic to it in a similar way to BR, so that might be why some people are reporting poor longevity. Or maybe it’s a matter of skin chemistry. It’s the kind of scent that wafts in and out of presence after a few hours.

I just got a sample of this beautiful perfume from Krystal Fragrances, one of the best and my favorite online fragrance stores ever, with my purchase of a full bottle of ELDO Rien Intense Incense and a big bottle of Histoires de Parfums 1740. I just adore Xandria, such a beautiful gourmand. And it lasts. Just as all of Ormonde Jayne perfumes do. I adore everything Ormonde Jayne. I’m about to add more to my collection, with Xandria being my next full bottle purchase. I sprayed two sprays on the back of my hand before bed at 10pm and with all my tossing and turning and rubbing my hand under my pillow I awoke 10 hrs later with the scent STILL going strong. Now THAT is what nailed it for me as a definite purchase as many many perfumes just don’t last long on me. At most they last about 2-3 hrs. But not Ormonde Jayne perfumes, they last all day and the silage is great too. And they’re all so beautiful. I have not found one OJ scent that I hated. I either love or like all of them and that’s rare for me to love a house’s entire perfume collection. I think the only other house I love everything from is Kerosene. Another awesome perfume house everyone needs to know about. And Kerosene Fragrances last a long long time as well. So yes I definitely recommend buying a full bottle of Xandria, IF u love gourmand perfumes because it is very sweet. As always, I never recommend blind buying any perfume, Always buy or get a sample first. When I buy my bottle, I’d gladly send a few ppl a 2ml sample . For free of course. This perfume is a MUST for gourmand lovers. I have it on now, I can’t stop smelling my wrist. I’m loving it that much. Now I am off to place the order for a full 50ml bottle along with Royal Elixir which I have been wanting for over a year now. But I kept buying everything else and forgot about Royal Elixir. So now that I have it on my mind, I need to buy it before i put it off again, and the 20% coupon I received from Krystal Fragrances really helps a lot (thank u Krystal, you’re the best ) ok it’s time to order.

Ormonde Jayne is a perfume house I really love, but I couldn’t understand for what purpose or why they released this perfume — it just doesn’t suit them. You have such beautiful rose perfumes like Nawab, and iconic scents like Montabaco Intensivo, Ormonde Man, Black Gold, etc. — incredible creations. But this one really doesn’t fit; it’s both a copy and a bad copy at that. If you’re going to copy, make it outstanding; if you can’t, don’t even try. It opens with a fresh, floral, slightly spicy, and apple-like note, then in the dry-down turns into an oud-based structure with amber, woody notes, and a boozy accord, becoming a dry scent. In my opinion, it’s an unnecessary perfume.

Smells almost 1:1 to Alexandria II. The most marked difference is that lavender and oud are far more prominent in Alexandria II, and that Alexandria II is greater in performance. I also find that apple is more noticeable in Xandria, and the boozy note adds some richness to the blend. Otherwise, the two are nigh indistinguishable. It's a nice fragrance to be sure, but I can't help but be left with a bad taste in my mouth. I expected more of Ormonde Jayne than to downright copy another brand's fragrance, down to the name. The La Route de la Soie collection on the whole hasn't lived up to my expectations.

It is clearly an attempt to make something pretty similar to Alexandria from Xerjoff. I didnt think well known brands would do this. And not in a subtile way, naming it Xandria.. It is creamy and beautiful, not as loud as Alexandria, where the oud is a bit more prominent. Unisex, warm, a bit boozy and spicy. A scent for the colder months. On me it keeps close to skin, but is inviting and cosy, in a classy way.

an hommage to cities of the great in history, Xandria of La Route De La Soie collection is old in fashion, it really recalls a picture of many nostalgia, it's my childhood in grandma's place, dusk with those relief patches, she never told me not to forget her and here I sense her presence, in 21 century bright.

I would say it is an unsuccessful attempt by OJ to copy Xerjoff Alexandria II. Just get the real one! Xerjoff's last over 24 hours, projects much better, and it is a much smoother and blended much better with much higher quality ingredients.

I love the notes and the idea of this perfume but it’s not working on my skin. All I smell like a beautiful Indian curry which is lovely but not as a fragrance for my olfactory senses.
