Cuoium

A year ago I wrote an impression of this fragrance, and my conclusion at the time was that it was probably the most difficult, and possibly the worst, fragrance I had ever smelled. Today, I own a bottle and absolutely adore it. So what is Cuoium about? Animalic, smoky, leathery, floral, and musky. There’s also something deeply nostalgic about Cuoium for me. It reminds me of visiting an uncle when I was a kid in the 90s. He was a top lawyer and politician. His home office looked like something straight out of The Godfather; Don Corleone.. The room smelled like cigarette smoke and ashes, expensive leather furniture, old wooden shelves, vintage law books, dim lighting, and a bar full of whisky bottles. There was no air conditioning, just a ceiling fan pushing around the humid tropical air. You could smell the sweat of my uncle, the leather, the smoke, the wood. Cuoium brings me right back to that office The opening is very animalic and smoky, almost pungent. There’s a manure-like nuance that Alessandro Gualtieri has mentioned many times in his rare interviews when describing some of his favorite smells. It feels dirty, old, and worn-out. Bitter, sweaty, animalic, like raw skin and leather. Someone described it as “a hyena wearing a leather collar,” down below. It’s extremely masculine, raw, and primal. But that aggressive animalic note starts to lower in volume after a while and becomes much more pleasant, iike an old leather couch that a hyena sat on a few minutes ago. The smokiness has a cigarette ash vibe to it. Very old-school, Peaky Blinders style. It adds a rugged masculinity and gives the fragrance a lot of character. As the minutes pass, an undeniable violet note begins to appear. This is where the fragrance suddenly becomes more classic and wearable. The violet gives it a refined elegance that even makes the scent somewhat unisex. I could absolutely imagine a very well-put woman wearing this, perhaps an older woman with presence, wearing black, super confident. I actually have a great anecdote about this. At a fragrance event, I met an older woman whose signature scent was Cuoium. She was buying her third bottle that day. She told us the fragrance felt like an extension of herself, and she even joked that her grave would probably end up smelling like Cuoium. Honestly, I could see that. Another anecdote: I have yet to encounter a woman who dislikes this fragrance on a man. I’ve received many compliments from women when wearing it. They seem to love the raw masculinity of it. About the leather: yes, there is leather, but I personally wouldn’t call it the dominant note. The smokiness, the animalic facets, and even the violet stand out more than the leather itself. There’s also a synthetic dark woody compound mixed with patchouli that reminds me a lot of Terroni. That’s why Cuoium sometimes feels like Terroni’s cousin. Now the drydown . It becomes muskier and metallic—like old oxidized metal, almost like an antique metal rug or object. Interestingly, this metallic effect resembles the fragrance’s cap. This isn’t the first time an Orto Parisi fragrance does this. Brutus, Bergamask, Risvelium, Seminalis, and even Megamare all develop some type of metallic character in the drydown. Each one has a different metallic nuance. For example: Brutus dries down with a coppery metallic note. Seminalis feels more like aluminum. Cuoium leans toward an oxidized metal type of smell. Performance-wise, there isn’t much to complain about. Longevity is nuclear. However, projection is more controlled than people might expect. It’s not Megamare-level projection. Cuoium actually feels quite airy in the air. Up close it smells intense, but in the air it becomes lighter and more diffusive, As for versatility, this fragrance is far more flexible than people claim. It actually works very well in warm weather. I’m not the first one to say this; many reviewers online have mentioned the same thing. People often see smoke or incense in a fragrance and immediately label it as “winter-only,” but that’s not how it works. The same thing happens with Black Afgano. People say it’s a winter fragrance, while in true, it synergies in warm weather better than in the cold. Just be mindful of the number of sprays. Both fragrances have an airy quality and some freshness that makes them adaptable. What else can be said about this? Some people even say Risvelium is a winter fragrance, LMAO. Conclusion: My opinion on Cuoium completely changed over time. I did a full 180 on this fragrance. Now I see it as a masterpiece. That said, you probably need a certain presence or aura to wear it properly. I’d say it suits someone 30 years old or older. Also, the price-to-performance ratio is excellent, especially if you find it discounted like I did. 9.5/10

I've been using leather fragrances for over 20 years, and luckily that experience enables me to detect which notes/compounds are used in Cuoium. Right off the bat, I can tell that there's no civet, castoreum or hyraceum used here. Civet is very sharp, fecal and indolic, while castoreum is oily, resinous and leathery often with a urinous undertone. Hyraceum (hyrax) is dry, dusty, mineral and urinous and extremely sharp. So none of these animalics are used here. What we have in Cuoium is something fatty, skin-warm, slightly musky rather than sharp or dirty; and it is definitely sour tangy above all; which is the hallmark of Animalis. 💯 Animalis is a synthetic animalic base developed by Firmenich, and it gives off those warm-skin like undertones or warm-fur roudness with a sour fatty leathery depth. Now Cuoium is a leather fragrance that's built around a Russian leather accord (Birch tar) or cade oil, which are both rich in phenolic compounds. Birch tar smells smoother and more leathery, with smoky, tarry, slightly sweet facets that read as classic Russian leather. Cade oil is harsher and more medicinal, with sharper phenolic smoke, bitterness, and a drier, sometimes sour edge that can feel more aggressive. In short, birch tar gives polished saddle leather, while cade oil gives raw, scorched hide and smoke. Which is why I believe cade oil was used in Cuoium. 🌫️ So I'm certain by the scent profile of Cuoium that it contains cade oil and animalis, and there's a deep woodiness too in it; which gives you a a smoky slightly sour animalic leather fragrance with woodiness and slight earthiness. It definitely doesn't have saffron (the king of spices) which is a classic ingredient in leather accords. Saffron gives a luxurious sweetness and honeyed warmth with a polished suede-like effect in a leather accord; and that is definitely not the case with Cuoium which is ultra dry with zero sweetness! 🪵 Cuoium is extremely well-blended and the hallmark of that is that it is hard to dissect the individual notes; i'm sure it contains much more notes but it is very well-blended so it's really hard to pick them apart. I'm also extremely happy that such leather fragrances exist as this is a true leather fragrance where the leather accord stays with you from the beginning to the end, and it is dark and a very serious fragrance with gravitas 👑 Animalic notes are the heartbeat of niche perfumery and they give us that depth and character in a fragrance! ✨ The performance could be ten times better to be honest, and I find Emir Smoky Leather by Paris Corner which is inspired by Cuoium, to have a much better performance than Cuoium. It also costs a fraction of the price while giving a around 75% of the same experience. I have them both as leather fragrances are my passion, but if I had to chose one it'll be Emir Smoky Leather since the performance is way better than Cuoium. 💪🏻📈 There's definitely no oud here, as Cuoium stays linear, phenolic and leathery, which is not how oud behaves. Oud has a natural progression where it evolves and unfolds with complexity and resinous depth. Cuoium strongly reminded me of Falcon Leather Extrait, which is another leather fragrance built on a Russian leather accord. I have to mention Hard Leather by Laurent Mazzone which is waaaay more animalic than Cuoium but more opulent and luxurious with a multi-dimensional leather accord 👑 🥇 Video reviews of all mentioned leather fragrances are also available on my YT ▶️

It's very strange that I didn't do a review sooner, as I've been obsessed with it since early or mid-2024. However, I recently purchased it and I'm ready to do a review. The first thing I want to emphasize is: no, this fragrance is not terrible, or whatever the internet has told you. A pleasant, high-quality leather perfume that really has no alternative - in some ways it is truly special and unique. This is a leather scent that hasn't been smothered with tons of vanilla and other sweet notes to make it "wearable," which is what actually ruins other scents. So, what does it smell like anyway? I smell a beautiful combination of leather, tobacco, raspberry (yes, there is a hint of sweetness here, but it is very light, berry-like (and only in the top notes)), animalic, smoke, and a little incense. These are all the notes I found in this perfume. Transformation of fragrance over time. At first, it appears in all its glory, being very rich. The viscosity of good tobacco combined with raspberries, smoke and of course animalistic leather sounds incredibly pleasant and rich. In the middle notes, the perfume remains relatively the same, just becoming a bit more brutal and bitter. The base opens in the same way. Roughly speaking, over time the perfume becomes more brutal, bitter and primitive (in a good way). I could write a rave review in which I would choose many beautiful words to describe my love for this fragrance, but why? Among hundreds of opposing reviews, and hundreds of other positive ones, reading another one in which I cryptically tell you how good it is, you will simply get confused and not know who to believe. So I described this fragrance as simply as possible, trying to avoid enthusiastic comments, trying to describe it as objectively as possible. Also, I want to categorically deny the claims that this fragrance "smells like a pair of old leather boots" or something like that, as this fragrance is much more than just dirty, smoky leather. If I were to describe this fragrance in such words, it would be the base notes. Everything else is a definite no. RATING: Longevity: 10/10 Sillage: 10/10 (One accidental spray on my t-shirt more than two days before was enough to make it smell stronger than 10 sprays of another fragrance I was wearing that day) Smell: 9/10 Value for money: 10/10 (in my country(€100-€155), at least) Overall:10/10

About a year ago I did something I never do: I washed a fragrance off immediately. Not “Hmm, not for me...”, but full-on soap-and-warm water emergency protocol. The culprit? Cuoium. On first spray my brain didn’t register “leather” or “animalic”. It registered literal fragrant manure. The kind of realism that makes you check your shoes (or your life choices). Fast forward to today and Cuoium has pulled the greatest trick in perfumery: it didn’t change... I did. The opening reads as ashy leather, charred at the edges like a well-worn jacket held close to a campfire. There’s a violet streak running through - not the "polite makeup-powder" violet) - but something darker. Imagine purple petals pressed into smoke-stained suede. Then, slowly, the whole thing drifts into it's final incense phase: not churchy, but dark-resinous yet oddly airy, as if the smoke has been filtered through a high ceiling. Where did the animal go? Where is the poop? I genuinely can’t find those anymore. And that’s the point. Smell is not a fixed instrument: it’s a skill issue. Remember the first time you drank coffee? Wine? An IPA? Bit into 99% dark chocolate? You didn’t “learn the taste”... your brain learned how to read it and (slowly) expanded your frame of reference. Perfume works the same mysterious way, at least for me. Am I disappointed that Cuoium no longer drop-kicks me into the stable yard? Absolutely not. Because a few months after that first incident, I started getting acquainted with artisanal perfumery: naturals, musks, and animalic materials on a completely different level. Cuoium didn’t soften... again, my frame of reference expanded. I am absolutely convinced that Gualtieri knows exactly what he’s doing. Shock first (it helps the house's mythology and sales), then reveal: a composition that’s ultimately wearable and strangely compelling. Add the whole Orto Parisi package: the art direction, visuals (Gualtieri's videos are quite cool), tactile bottle and the "object" quality. And the cherry on top is that it’s also fantastic value, especially from discounters. Moral of the story: sometimes the fragrance isn’t challenging. Your nose is just still in training. Have you ever felt "designer" fragrances just didn't hit the spot anymore. Not only in performance but in their profiles? A year or two ago I found myself tired of the same old same old and was directed to the more artisan (niche) offerings available. I still enjoy my old offerings on occasion but find myself gravitate towards something out of the ordinary most of the time these days. For me, Orto Parisi is at the top of that chain and with Cuouim, it's a creation that just exemplifies everything about individualism and creativity. Something that offers a different view and a step away from the herd mentality. The Fragrance itself is without a doubt a total beast for its performance and longevity but that's not a really fair appraisal, it goes far deeper. It's a true leather fragrance that's uplifted and accompanied by a myriad of other wonderful nuances, incense, smoke, a couple of floral/vegetation essences from across the spectrum, then something a little more menacing, lurking in the dark, something primal. Many hours later it keeps giving, feeling like I've recently applied it. Remarkable. Obviously, not a fragrance for the feint of heart but surprisingly wearable if you like the strong deep and dark side. Just be mindful not to wear in confined spaces with others over a prolonged period of time. 😆 Not everyone shares the same appreciation or passions for everything we like, for that I'm thankful, the world would be one hell of a tedious place otherwise. This may well be an acquired taste as with most from this particular house so what you adore the person next to you may dislike. Now the scent overall is actually quite a wondrous piece of work, something a little special, a glimmer, a shining example of how amazing something can be amongst the everyday grind. It's like mining gold for years on end and suddenly you find a hugely valuable nugget, Jackpot! Otro Parisi just seems to be on my wavelength, I guess it's not on everyone's! Buy hey, we love what we love. Wear what you like and enjoy what you wear.

#1597 in my "Tour de Fragrance" Copilot's been nagging me to clean up my Excel database, but a glitch in the program makes the suggestions show up in a black box making them unreadable, so I've been manually going through the 1894 entries. I haven't posted reviews of a few hundred either because they are not in the Fragrantica database or I haven't gotten around to them yet. I found that though I've mentioned it frequently because I like it a lot, I haven't reviewed: Orto Parisi "Cuoium." SO here goes. People have very mixed reactions to this scent, and rightly so. Scents this animalic are not for the weak. I've swamped out a lot of horse stalls. I didn't own horses. We lived in town. But with so many farmers and horse breeders in our family that lived just outside the city limits, I could earn a few dollars on the weekends taking care of the horses that my aunts, uncles and cousins owned as they had fields to tend to. A clean barn full of clean horses smells great to me, the barn before I'd cleaned it and horses before they'd had a bath, not so much. So, I am very used to a level of animalic scent that puts a lot of people off. If you're not a fan of animalic scents, don't see some of yourself in the primitives of "Quest for Fire", this is probably not for you. But if you check out the scents in the above "This perfume reminds me of", that's a gallery of some of my favorites, including my signature scent: Boadicea "Complex. " Pricey, but worth it. This scent is a spicy, leathery, woody, incense-driven creation that lasts all day and projects like a searchlight. I don't find it offensive, even in tight spaces because most of the projection is the dry woodiness. Still, go lightly with this one in tight spaces. Not really office wear, but 100% masculine. Bordering on Neanderthalic. I prefer "Complex", and Memo "Iberian Leather", but not by much. I think all three belong in a man's collection, and all the women in my life notice it and linger in my arms when I wear them.

Not an offensive start IMHO. Notes are what I expected: Cigarette ash and photorealistic leather, with animalic/human notes and more lurking. The kids expressing disappointment and revulsion below haven't lived through the ups and downs of adulthood enough to understand what this is. Plus they've never been to a bar where people can smoke. After a few minutes, it has mellowed some, but it's not transforming into something else entirely and I think I can speak to it: Sadly I haven't experienced this scent in a long while, but I know it all too well: This is the smell of mine and another person's skin, and hair, and our clothes after being out at a bar that permits smoking. The cigarette smoke fumigates everything, hours slip by. drink after drink and then it's late at night we're somewhere else, like an alleyway or my car or her bedroom. Then it's much much later, we're lying in some bed together, trying to sleep, my nose against the nape of her neck. She is still and peaceful and emanating the night. This is for me the very opposite of innocence and freshness and light. If I can see daylight through the blinds, I am hanging a blanket over that window so we can keep sleeping. There is some coziness but keep in mind that it's obviously meant to be dirty. If you are a recovering alcoholic or sex addict this may stir up negative feelings and regret about the past, or it could cause a relapse. For me I think I will put this away until fall and I personally quite like it. I would love to smell this on a woman. For women: it might be safer layer with something more fun elsewhere on the body that will dissipate, revealing Cuoium later on. For men: I think some people will be put off but others will be turned on; it implies manliness and roughness so if you rock a clean young look it will probably cause cognitive dissonance.

This is quite literally the most fecal fragrance I've ever tried, and I love a good stinker. In the opening, It smells as if a seagull took a dump in a heavily used vintage leather moccasin, then the moccasin was left outside in the street, only for someone to take a piss in it on a drunken late Friday night. At times, you may think that you're stuck in the back of a black cab in east London that hasn't been cleaned for the best part of 15 years, and the sweaty driver is wearing a heavy old-school spicy scent. The temperature is 32 degrees and the windows are closed. Yet, the future is bright. And then the beautiful, complex, musky oud arises. The dry-down gets more woody and dry and the offensive animalicness turns into smoky sex; An intricately-mixed cocktail with hints of pepper and Vermouth (Labdanum). Does this sound like your kind of fun? I'll let you decide. Mr. Gualtieri is a poet, and I'm now convinced he's being playful / borderline trolling with his creations, but ultimately creating cutting-edge one-of-a-kind perfumes that are unique in the sense that they trigger some really raw parts of our conscious and unconscious memories. Do not go gentle into that good night after 3 sprays thinking your date is going to appreciate this. This will have everyone in the elevator wondering if you just have enjoyed a passionate night of heavy petting at the local back-alley sauna with an old biker from the Middle East. This makes Tuscan Leather seem like Channel no 5. This, you will wear mostly for your own enjoyment. This, you should only wear with your archival Rick Owens jacket from the AW07 collection and your worn-down Guidi boots, then walk into a room, and think to yourself "They don't know I'm wearing Cuoium by Orto Parisi". This, is a masterpiece. 9/10 Minorstep

This is my take on Cuoium by Orto Parisi: It opens with a solid dose of organic smoke. The smoke feels warm, combined with well mixed animalics and leather that immediately give off this raw yet refined vibe. The leather note sits in the background, warm and inviting, while the most dominant facets are the animalics, the smoke, and something funky but oddly uplifting at the same time, despite the darkness of the scent. Honestly, I don’t find it as challenging as people say. I think many overreact simply because it smells foreign to them... it’s unfamiliar, not unwearable. Someone described the opening as smelling like animal skin being steamed and smoked, ready to be processed. That’s accurate. There’s also this funk I can’t fully define, but I’ve read it comes from Indian oud mixed with the animalics. I love it. This is my favourite perfume. It’s dense, dark, and organic, but despite its heaviness, there’s something almost bright woven into it that keeps it balanced. From what I’ve experienced, Alessandro Gualtieri’s perfumes (Nasomatto and Orto Parisi) always share a certain DNA, but with Cuoium there’s an unexpected sweetness. It’s not sweet in a typical sense it’s more like the subtle sweetness of wine. Hard to define, but it’s there. Cuoium smells like an extension of body scent rather than perfume. It's dirty yet clean at the same time.. For me it's definitely 10. I am currently on my third bottle If people truly find this challenging then I am curious how they will react to Silver oud From Amouage or Figment man..

Cuoium manages to bottle the aroma of a well-worn leather jacket after sitting by a campfire for hours. This particular leather jacket is old, treasured by the wearer, and deeply imbued with smoke... the smell conjures someone who lives independently and winds down every night sitting by the fireside in contemplation. This person appears visually gruff and intimidating but has a quiet gentleness to them. Their leather jacket is well-cared-for; there’s no dustiness or dirtiness here. I can distinctly smell something slightly chemical and reminiscent of leather conditioner lingering in the sidelines. The wearer of this jacket is perhaps a tanner or leatherworker themselves. Their hands are calloused from years of perfecting their work. I can picture these hands sharpening knives and repairing their horse’s saddle with the self-assuredness of a master craftsman. Cuoium really gives you your money’s worth and lingers for a long, long time. On my skin, it becomes a bit more sweet and ambery after ~6 hours but never loses the leather/smoke notes. The smell is rich and distinct. I've never smelled another leather fragrance quite like this. To echo a lot of sentiments I've seen in other reviews: Cuoium has S T R O N G sillage. Be wary of over-spraying.

I was very intrigued by the bottle, and it was the main reason I went on to sample then buy a full bottle after testing. The box itself is normal, if you care about that sorta thing. The fragrance itself is very artistic, and beautiful; not at all how most people describe it, especially TikTok influencers who make it seem like this is the Anti-Christ's signature scent. My favorite part about this fragrance is how the sweet florals are there to enhance the leather, not to suppress it; like many other leather heavy fragrances tend to do. Weirdly enough, the incense is what makes or breaks this fragrance in my opinion. In the opening you are hit with a thick, dusty leather combined with a heavy smokiness. The sweetness is not strong at all, but noticeable; which is a great thing. As time goes on, about 70 minutes for me, you start getting the animalic aspect from this fragrance. Not everyone can truly appreciate how animalic this is, and maybe it's because they are thinking this would deter people from them. Isn't that the whole point? This fragrance is supposed to be unapologetic and straightforward, that's why I really like how rude the combo of leather & animal notes go well together.

Cuoium, oh Cuoim where have thou been all this time? Now this is a masterpiece. This does remind me of a shoe,but the Caligae ( Roman soldier's sandal). Coliseum scent. Gladius. Barbute helmet. Julius Caesar watching as smoke burns from the torches. Wow. This is an improvement on Tom Ford Tuscan Leather for sure. Far more animalic than Tuscan Leather. I love both. But Cuoium is the more Masculine and Animalistic version of Tuscan Leather. Tuscan Leather is a Roman legionary before he has had many battles. Cuoium is what he becomes after those battles. In my top 10. I suggest a sample first. I did Blind buy this. Right off the bat I loved it. I think i bought it for $115. An excellent value for what you get. You should try it. I do not detect any fecal notes. And I would know if such a note is present here. Nothing barnyard either. There is a slight reminder of Frederic Malle The Moon if the sweetness was stripped from it. Same for Tuscan Leather. Take away the Raspberry and Saffron. What are the Animalistic notes here outside of leather? I dont think it is Civet ,Castoreum, Ambergris or Hyraceum. This is a scent for battle. Maybe even a sword duel or the Coliseum

When I first got Megamare I didn’t wear it, it wore me. Well more like tossed me around like a rag doll. I over sprayed (5 sprays), I was legit scared. Now going easy on the trigger I love it! So onto this. Just like reading the reviews of Unutamam, reading reviews for this I got super intrigued. Dead animal teeth? Rotting corpses you say? Worst scent I ever smelled? Perfect! Well I found it for a great price and ordered blind. You guys are full of shit. This is so nice. Real easy to wear. Yeah the leather is harsh but nothing crazy. Burnt leather jackets and animal skins blah blah blah. It’s masculine yeah but not like Uber masculine like unutamam. The musk in here is super classy, not animalic or fecal at all. I smell the part that reminds people of black afgano and I’m glad it’s faint because boooooooring. Yeah this is powerful, lasts long but it’s nowhere near as monstrous as megamare. In a way this is like a twist on TL, instead of sweet raspberry you get a musk and incense that really isn’t that Smokey. Do I like it? Well yeah it’s divine but I was expecting something more scary. Probably in my top 5 leather fragrances, it’s in a tie with falcon leather.

The first spray on skin feels like stepping into a leather workshop that hasn’t cooled down yet. The intensity is high and completely unsoftened—just a very direct leather note. There’s also a small touch of pepper adding a sharp spiciness. The opening can be quite overwhelming and will probably put some people off. After a while, the leather begins to soften and a hint of violet appears. The powdery smoothness of the violet reduces the harsh impact of the leather. From this point on, the fragrance becomes much easier to wear. Then the composition moves into its core stage. Smoky and charred wood nuances become more noticeable. Incense and resin layer together, making the scent denser. The middle and later stages are tightly structured, with a slow, almost linear development. In the drydown it settles into a woody and slightly herbal tone. The rough leather from the beginning gradually transforms into something warm, sweet, and smooth, which smells very appealing. Personally, it still feels more suited to men. I usually only wear it at home. The bottle design is very creative as well—it’s dressed in a vegetable-tanned leather jacket.

Cuoium defies description. It is inexplicable. I've been wearing it for a week. It is insane. The only way I can think of to convey what this is like, is as follows: Imagine you're Arminius, the German, in Teutoberg Forest. You're wearing animal hides and a wolf head helmet. You're on a horse, carrying spear and sword. Over the next three hours, you slash, maim, kill around four dozen centurions. And their horses. And it is all very messy. There is lots of fire around you, too. Thick smoke, burning saddles. Plus blood, sweat, and tears. Then Salma Hayek circa 1996, wearing fur and leather and raw hides, rides up on a horse. She too is covered in sweat and smoke. She hasn't bathed in three days. She looks super hot and dirty. She dismounts. You then grab her and shag her senseless (with her consent, of course). It's all sexy and messy, uninhibited and, um, "adventurous". And musky/leathery/smoky/raw/animal-y, etc. And obsessive. You really go to town. Cuoium is what you smell like after all this. It's insane. And yet, bizarrely addictive. Also, the strength of this stuff is spectacular. The slightest drop projects like crazy.

Initial smell right out of the sample was incredibly smokey and overpowered everything else. The smokiness was inoffensive on a pure odor capacity (versus the smoke smell I really can't stand in ELDO Jasmin et Cigarette), but it was just too strong. Then, I let it dry down... The longer it's on, the more I enjoy it. I keep sniffing my wrist -- it's very complex and addicting. It reminds me of clean, dry hair. The smokiness is still there, but it goes from acrid to something very handsome once all the other notes come out. I also think this one plays nicely with some fresh sweat or a touch of new B.O. I will admit that I tried it earlier in the day and immediately got scared because the smokiness was so strong, so I put some ELDO Une Amourette on top to run interference for my own sake. But then I noticed it get really nice underneath the UA, so this was written after I gave it a chance on its own. Probably not for all occasions, but I'm planning on wearing this to Ren Faire now. I legitimately think it's perfect for that.

I came to the conclusion that most of the reviews are actually of people who never even smelled the fragrance, they just recycle what others say and it's completely wrong! This is not fecal or very animalic as others claim. It has a touch of Animalis which is a synthetic animalic base made by Firmenich, and that's that. It gives off a slightly sour aura that can evoke the smell of warm skin. Mainly this fragrance is 1- very smokey 🌫️ 2- very woody 🪵 3- and very leathery 💼 But that's an oversimplification of the scent profile which is very deep, rich with character, and has gravitas to it. It is a rather serious fragrance that projects an air of dominance when wearing it ⚔️ So don't get fooled by the reviews please, this is a masterpiece that needs to be appreciated by those who have a finer taste in life. My first ever fragrance from Orto Parisi, and also first niche fragrance, was this one after looking at forums for nice winter frag. I have ordered a sample because I was not willing to buy it blind, and when it came my wife was home and smelled it before me, and she said that I would not like it... When I came home I thought the same, it came of strong, and suffocating and I left the sample on the table, and every couple of minutes I could smell it comming from across the table and every time it smelled kind of different and I liked it more and more, and after about an hour I fell in love with it and ordered a bottle. Very sexy and mature fragrance, for me not for everyday use, mostly for some special occasions, the leathery and animalistic notes are strong, also with notes of smoke and wood and maybe a wiff of flowers that dance over time. Currently willing to try other winter frags from Orto Parisi, mainly Terroni or Stercus.

I always had weird feelings about this creation- a bold making statement as you are elevating to new highs. Not everyone will like this and it certainly wont give as many compliments as your regular leather perfume (ombre leather, encre noire, , etc etc. This one is daring and makes you stand out from the crowd. It smells like a day out on the field almost what i would picture the medieval times looked like. You smell like a rusty soldier from the 1700s, if you imagine that being smelly or uncomforting this will probably not be suitable for you. Absolutely not suitable for blind buy either. I wear this one mostly by myself and i find this creation magnificent in such a weird way. I dont love the way it smells, I just love the uniqueness this offers. Almost that you time travel back to the 1700s. You will have to try this to get what I mean. I will not use this regularly but when I want to smell like no one else this is the one.
