Midnight Amber

This is such a gem! I agree it's likely to be a successful blind buy (and I don't say that often or lightly), especially given the price at which it is available. I also think that this is a GREAT entry oud for those that have had a hard time coming to appreciate the note. It is unmistakably an oud fragrance. But it's accompanied by a rose that, to my nose, is not as sharp or green as the rose in a lot of other rose oud fragrances that I've tried. (Which makes them pungent in my opinion.) I would say it's more of a dried rose in here, perhaps a bit powdery even. On the softer side and not too sweet at all. Midnight Amber is kind of linear, but this quality is something I very much appreciate in this fragrance. The sillage is not massive, but the longevity is surprisingly good. You know what fragrance you put on, and that is what will accompany you throughout your day. It's not very complex, but that is something else I enjoy about it. It is very easy to wear. And neither the rose nor the oud disappears unexpectedly, leaving you with something you weren't planning on wearing. I wouldn't go as far as to say that either one is a dupe for the other, since it's been a while since I last tried Armani Si EdP on my skin, but right now, smelling them from the bottle I would say that there's a definite similarity between them. With Si perhaps representing a more green type of rose. (And there is actually no oud in Armani Si!) Midnight Amber is definitely very underrated in my opinion.

This has got to be on the list of my Top 5 Best Blind Buys. Thanks to previous reviewers who described it well, I decided to take the $17.77 plunge and I'm so happy I did! I absolutely love when a reasonably priced perfume smells "expensive" and to me, this is one of those. It's sophisticated and serious, without being old fashioned. It's woody and oriental with a hint of sweetness and rose. What it lacks in staying power, it makes up for in value. At this price, if you have re-apply 3x per day, who cares!? The sillage isn't a powerhouse either, which in my opinion, makes it perfect. In this day and age when so many people get testy about other people's perfume, the fact that it stays close is a good thing. Having said that, it isn't so tame that people wouldn't notice it in small spaces and close quarters. On top of all the great qualities I've described above, the bottle is beautiful and looks lovely displayed on my perfume shelf. An all-around winner!!

Beautifully balanced and well blended, elegant, exotic masterpiece. Absolutely gorgeous! It’s even better than I hoped for - best blind buy ever! Update - the more I wear this, the more I appreciate how beautiful it is. The oud is discernible and adds depth, but it’s soft and non-intrusive. The scent is masterfully blended and balanced. I think my chemistry loves it - I get a strong 8 hours and sometimes more where it radiates arm’s length and lingers in the area. It smells gorgeous at this point, very ambery, softly spicy, and sweet - honey sweet. The bottle is a gift - so lovely on the dressing table. I think the Oscar de la Renta scents are underrated. Esprit d’Oscar always gets compliments, as does Oscar. Elegant, rich, refined, understated perfumes that don’t announce themselves - their presence occurs to you. Midnight Amber is high on my all time favorites list.

I ran across this at my local Marshalls for $19.99 and couldn't pass it up for the price. I'm pleasantly surprised at how nice this fragrance is for the price. I recently have fallen in love with the whole rose and oud combo after blind buying a scent called Arabian Oud by Lumira at a small boutique in Miami. This fragrance smells very similar but with a little more of the Oud note and a little less Rose. It's quite deep and mysterious... not much of an animalic note like some ouds. I would say its a safe blind buy for those that already know they like the rose oud combo. It lasts about 5 to 6 hours on my skin with about a few feet of sillage. I think the quality for the price is pretty amazing.

I blind bought Midnight Amber off FragranceNet.com on sale. It turned out to be a good purchase I love it! On my skin it is a strong amber that stays the same with no other notes for 6 hours and leaves a nice scent trail for first 3 hours. Simple but feminine scent good for layering or wearing alone. Glad I bought it and will try to find body lotion too. Fragrantica lists this as animalic but on me that never happened. I hate animalic scents so I am relieved this isn’t like that, at least in cold winter weather. I hope this scent stays the same in heat.

Literally top 10 for me! I wear it to bed all the time because it’s so comforting and relaxing. I like my ouds but they can be overpowering— this like oud-lite Sweet, warm and very likeable Only negative (which isn’t really worth mentioning) is that the opening, literally only the first 30 seconds, has a tiny bit of an old-lady perfume vibe. I had a fam member in the 70-90s work at Elizabeth Arden and it triggers a bit of a scent memory for me. Has low/med projection I notice the smell on my pjs the next night so it lasts a long time on the clothes.

This gem does not get enough love! You can absolutely blind-buy this without worrying whether it's worth it. It smells much more elevated than the price suggests. It's very reminiscent of Armani Prive Rose d'Arabie but with a slightly heavier oud scent. Great sillage and longevity. My boyfriend adores it, and I feel incredibly sexy and confident in it. A little feminine, but could definitely be a unisex scent, especially after the dry down.

I am head over heels for this one. At $20 for a 100 ml bottle, this is possibly my greatest blind buy ever. I had no idea of the notes but I thought I could detect rose, ylang ylang, Jasmine, peach, wood, amber, musk, and spices, lots of spices. This is a warm, spicy, mildly sweet, oriental floral, like potpourri. It reminds me of Elizabeth Taylor Diamonds & Rubies, but possibly richer. This is a love for me for sure.

Wowwie, this may have just become my favorite oud. I can't believe it for the price, which is virtually nothing compared to a lot of the good ouds I've either sampled or smelled. It's so well balanced. You get the oud right off, you don't have to search for it. But it has a lovely, ever so slightly sweet rose that makes it just feminine enough for me. But it's not too sweet, or too rose, or too oud. Perfection.

After blind buy fiasco of Esprit d’Oscar I was very skeptical to get this one, but as usual the curiosity took over, and I’m happy it did. What a beautiful fragrance! This is what I thought Euphoria Amber Gold should have smelled like when I blindly bought it. Oh well, all is good, I found my perfect amber rose combo. And I cannot not mention the bottle, beautiful addition to collection :)

A very nice & different Oscar. Lasts about 4 hrs on me. Very feminine, soft & well blended. The nutmeg & strawberry notes are subtle but noticeable so I wouldn't call it too spicey or fruity. The other notes Madagascar Vanilla, Turkish Rose, Jasmine, Tuberose, Agarwood (Oud), Amber, & Indonesian Patchouli Leaf are more pronounced. I love to wear it anytime of the year. Love.

To me this smells exactly like Mariah Carey M. Only hers seems to last longer on me. Midnight Amber has that sweet oriental incense scent to it. It's nice, perfect for the fall and winter. Update: it's now November and this is the BOMB lol. smells like Aromatics in White Clinique. Snuggle and lay up under your man fragrance. He will like it also. a little unisex Xo

I really enjoy this one. It is definitely unique among affordable fragrances. Oscar De La Renta seems to make some great fragrances at an accessible price. This one is a rose-oud that is soft and well-balanced. I noticed that it blooms in warmer weather. I think this is the only oud-rose that I would dare wear in the Texas summers. Two thumbs up! :)

Weird & beautiful!!! A blind buy that happened to be a really nice surprise. Even tho there are some White Flowers & Strawberry, there's something really mysterious about it, that probably has to do with Agarwood & Nutmeg. An underrated & elegant perfume indeed. The bottle is also really pretty & complicated, & it has got a moderate longevity.

I bought this after looking for something that was in the same page as a Jo Malone Oud scent. As a blind buy it is amazing as a unisex perfume. So dark and rich. As I wear it I feel as if I have been transported to another time.. Summer warmth, juicy fresh roses and sensuous Oud that hangs in the evening air.

Very rich and deep oud here. It's earthy wood in accord with rose, vanilla and amber. Warm, mysterious and sexy. It's more an evening scent and good for occasions when you want to go to that bit of edge but not into rebel. It's not a cookie cutter floral fragrance. It's intoxicating. I love it.

EDIT , after giving it a second chance I LOVE IT. Good for me I was patient. Just bought this as a blind buy since 1) it was really cheap (20$CAD) and 2) I love amber and the name was giving me the impression this would be very ambery. This is a nice fragranc, I get the strawberry at opening and a bit of rose (I normally don't like rose in perfumes but this one doesn't bother me) and then a little bit of amber (could be more than this for me to deserve the word "amber" in it's name). This is so soft that even after almost 20 sprays I can barely smell it on my skin. I don't know what the projection will be, will try it at the office, but I doubt it will be a bomb. This is disappointing for me because what I am looking for in a perfume is to have a certain projection and to be able to smell it on me. So, for me, the smell is very delicate even to soft but still smells very good, just not strong enough.

A very nice rose-oud combo for a designer house that mainstream people might try and not like. Smells like many other rose-oud combos out there that were done long before but are a bit richer and deeper. This is a fantastic price point though. A solid blind buy though it duplicates a lot of other things I have. It is not jammy but is dry and sweet. Nice job OdLR! Quickly becomes a skin scent though. Sprayed up around 8 p.m. to sit in jammies watching TV. Barely there at 10 p.m. in cool temps.

Just received in a blind swap, - charming! I didn't expect it to be so pleasantly berrish on a dark side. Talking about wild strawberries here, - it reminds me of Valentino Rosa Assoluto - has this deep sweet trail of eastern treat against rosa and patch. It is nice combo that to some might sound repetitive, but with very democratic price range it makes wonderful playful frag for a summer eve. Hope more ppl will get to know this little gem.

This is too sweet for my taste. I get mostly strawberry, vanilla, oud, with oud being a top note and strawberry vanilla a base. It can be an interesting perfume on a man. I can imagine it won't open as sweet then. Upd. It's not just sweet. It's sweet and sour. Upd 2. I prefer this one in summer, I can actually smell the rose then.

This is a very pretty and fleeting thing: fusty oud, spice, and brown sugar up front, then ten minutes later, a sugary floral with just a ribbon of rose. Ten minutes after that: a warm and fuzzy skin scent. I like the bottle, it's pleasant enough, and it was $20. Those expecting amber (or staying power) may be disappointed.

This is a fantastic cheapie. It's a mild woody slightly powdery rose. It's both uplifting and a bit dark in it's composition. Overall pretty mild, but with some nice projection and decent longevity. For the price, it's a great steal. 6.5/10

I like this perfume,it has a dark,warm scent perfect for date night. It's not my favorite, possibly because I like sweeter scents on me, but it is a nice addition to my collection.

i get the barest whisper of the promised notes, a little smoky, a tad of Nutmeg...maybe a hint of Vanilla, no Patchouli.Underwhelming,sadly.

Spicy oriental, has the same DNA as VELVET IMARI Cologne by AVON, only more serious, mature. MIDNIGHT AMBER is an elegant evening fragrance, not for warm/hot season. One spray of it on hair or clothes is enough to be intimate, so only close to you people could smell it. And that's what elegant ladies prefer. My imagination about the scent of MIDNIGHT AMBER: an intimate room with only two candles, two glasses of red wine, a deep red single rose in a narrow black vase on the table and the air is filled with an spicy woody aroma of incense sticks.

at the beginning i get strawberry, rose and oud. this is a more realistic strawberry, not super sweet. then i get the patchouli i believe. this ends up being mostly a jammy rose, oud and patchouli, with amber in the background. i don't seem to get any jasmine or tuberose. vanilla is there but it is subtle. i like this, but the patchouli really amps up on me, and goes a bit sharp. other than that, this is a nice rose oud, not an amber heavy scent, the name is a bit misleading.

Hi @smellsbells, I think a guy could totally wear this. :) It projects about an arms length on me, and lasts about 6-7 hours. I blind bought mine, and I am satisfied with it. (I don't recall what Tabu smells like, so I can't answer there.) I also haven't tried any other perfumes with Oud in them, so can't tell you anything that compares, sorry! [Of all the perfumes I have recently smelled, "Lady Vengeance" is closest to this. But it's because of the similar rose-ness.]

Midnight Amber opens with a strong but pleasant oud note but it fades, rather quickly (but not completely), into second place. In this particular composition, the florals are strongest notes, particularly the rose followed closely by slightly indolic white florals. There is a kind of rose note that I associate to the middle east which is hard to explain, to me it feels very vintage and that's what the rose note in here reminds me of. Indolic notes translate to a vintage scent to my nose too, so that must also contribute to vibes I get from this. This fragrance reminds me of the the middle east more than any other oud fragrance I have tried. I grew up there and until recently, I was convinced I disliked oud all together but falling in love, in rapid succession with ALL the ouds in the Maison Lancome line made me think that something had changed. However, Midnight Amber is the type of oud scent which I believe I was over exposed to growing up, what I associated as an oud perfume and really disliked. While this one didn't work out for me I am glad I came across it on my fragrance journey because I have a better understanding of what I like and dislike now. Value for money is great, as is performance and this might be great starter for those who want to get into ouds but only if you like heady florals.

not impressed with this at all, too mild to make an impact

~ Wow ~ What a shocker ~ This is a spicy , sexy rose and oud with a larger hint of vanilla than what I'm usually attracted to . It has a tinge of an oriental vibe which surprisingly is not a turn off for an oud . I placed two spritzes on my wrists as I was ready to walk out the door and then placed one on my valley before literally running out . It had no time to develop nor did she have time for a debate within my mind as to whether our weather allowed for me to wear . It did not matter , she was thrilling from first whiff . I had my LV mask to match my mood { doctor appointment } pea green . I walked in and no sooner had I closed the door , I heard " what smells so good " I did not say anything , not sure it was meant for me and I've done that before thinking it was directed at me , to be embarrassed to find it was someone on a Bluetooth I couldn't see...lol . As I sat down to wait my turn this time I knew it was directed at me , she said " you smell divine " I said thank you ~ and the usual unfolded , what is it , how much and where purchased . I gave all info and had just a few minutes to wait until I was called into room , as I was being walked in by a new assistant { to me } , same thing about smelling good . One thing I can say about Midnight Amber is she must have been overlooked , neither seemed to remember hearing about it and were shocked to find she is not a new scent that she is at least 4 ~ 5 years old . I'll really enjoy wearing this one , as stated on previous reviews ,even if just for me . She did last from about 11:00 am until 9:00 pm ~ She did become a skin scent or close to one after about 6 ~ 8 hours , so a stunning addition for sure ~ I'm happy ///=^} ~

I picked this up (like others on this page) at Shoppers Drug Mart for 19.99 (check it out Canadians!). I’ve been looking for an affordable unisex oud fragrance and I have finally found it! I really can’t smell anything else but oud, a dark rose, a hint of sweet tuber and strawberry leaf in the dry down. Basically dries down to a rose/oud. I smell this as a unisex fragrance for fall but can be rocked all year round in the evenings. It’s sexy and refined - the projection is good but dies after about an hour. I don’t see this as a negative as id always rather reapply than smell like intense oud for hours on end. Also, this is TOTALLY a dupe for two more expensive designer/niche fragrances, being Gucci “Guilty Absolute” Eau De Parfum and “Another Oud” from Juliette has a Gun.

Delicious amber sexy oud. Very deep and sensual, the opposite of teenager candy sweetness. This has depth and intrigue, lasts all day. The black lace tank top of scents. wonderful on its own but a useful, needed base for many other too “see through” fragrances. works great to layer and deepen up a “too-sweet” perfume that has great top notes but lacks depth. This will give the warm base most perfumes lack. It allows me to wear/lengthen a lot of my other fall/winter perfumes because it can balance out almost anything. Comforting and different, none of the fruity marshmallow sugar, just pure warmth and indulgence. One of my top blind buys......., just buy it. I will be buying over and over again. Will absolutely re purchase, now a staple for me. Especially sept -April.

This reminds me of the incense called Nag Champa from India a total copy of that burning incense stick funny don't let the bottle fool you. The scent of sweet smokie rose + smoky oud fragrance. It's scented like a carbon copy of that incense stick called the Flower line, a total of eight flankers were released 2016-2021 or The La Collection. The longevity on Midnight Amber is not bad. This one lingers longer unlike the others. It's very different reminds me of sweet wine - woody old Church's, Cathedrals. It is almost goes aquatic @ the dry down of life savers gummies - Mind You these were cheapies on grey market way before Covid but harder to find, I went back for one more before seeing those unjustified prices on eBay.

Nice unisex oud fragrance here! It comes across as "high quality," meaning a niche company could market it for much higher prices. The balance is excellent, which could explain the diversity among the reviews. And the oud note isn't too far from "real" oud that I have tried, though it's tamer here. After a couple of hours it becomes much quieter, but at these prices one could decant some and just add a spray now and then. Yet another example of how good so many "super cheapos" are these days!

I thought I would never says this, but I am tiring of ouds. Find a good thing, and it gets overdone. This having been said, I recently had dinner with a lady friend. I found myself somewhat intoxicated by the lady and her fragrance. I was surprised to learn that the fragrance was Midnight Amber, a fragrance not new to me. But this time it was different. Yes, the presentation counts, but more than that, the blend of sweetness with the oriental undertones drew me in. Try it for a sexy evening.

Ok. for the price, this oud is ELEGANT enough for a cocktail party but works just as well for daily wear! The opening is dramatic then sloooowly gives way to an almost undetectable rosey amber. The patchouli is ever-present waiting to take over next and then relaxes into a cozy spiciness. It's a lovely scent to float thru the house in, as well. I have what I call my "lounging goddess" scents & this is one of them.

Despite the name, I don't smell amber at all. What I smell is oud, more oud, a whisper of rose and then even more OUD. Longevity is exceptionally good and this is beast mode projection. A lot of people love this one, but alas it's not for me. I think it will end up as a giveaway.

My goodness, Utter perfection!!! Incredibly Amazing!!! This smells like a million bucks... I’m truly shocked. I want my life to smell like this... I’ll be back to edit this to a better description...

I just love this perfume, reach for it a lot and I have so many perfumes. It is a sexy perfume but not overpowering. I always get compliments with this one.
