Oscar Violet

Oscar de la Renta - Violet turns out to be Hugo boss deep Red's twinsister. They are lot alike. Violet is just a little bit softer and maybe a little bit closer to skin than Deep Red(i find Deep Red to be loud and bold). Violet are warm, sexy, elegant and very woman'ish. Love it! Oscar de la Renta - Violet liknar Hugo Boss Deep Red. Jag upplever dem som helt lika. Violet är aningens mjukare och något mera hudnära än Deep Red, som i mitt tycke är en väldigt högljudd och kvalmig doft. Violet är en varm, sexig, elegant och superkvinnlig doft. Älskar den!

Another blind purchase for me. What a delight for my nose after the initial spray (citrusy) dried down to a soft, warm, inviting concoction of lovliness. It seems to fade rather too soon for my liking. As I love heavier perfumes I sprayed 2 bursts of Mauboussin and then liberally (OdelaR Violets). Wow, now it stays and has blended exceptionally well to suit my taste. I will be buying this again, as I do not want to run out of it. I received compliments at work the other day whilst wearing this blend, this put a big smile on my face. x

I love loooove this perfume and I can't find it anywhere! It's so unique and lovely for me, I have been looking this for years. It's yummy, sweet but fresh... Its just perfect.

I love violets, so I was instantly intrigued by this perfume. Well, I tried hard to look for violets in Oscar Violet but I just could not locate them. Ironic, isn’t it? What I found instead is a delicious vanilla gourmand scent. So if you are looking for violets (sweet, natural or green), this would not be my choice but if you have a craving for chocolate and vanilla desert then this lovely perfume will seduce you with its simple but delicious notes. After brief citrus opening, I mostly get the chocolate as the scent develops. Lovely, delicious chocolate mixed with a floral mist. There is a floral layer in this perfume but it is hard to pick individual flowers. They are mixed with chocolate and vanilla and very sweet. The dry down is vanilla - simple, straightforward gourmand vanilla with a bit of sandalwood and musk. How Oscar Violet is different from many other gourmand scents out there? It is not. But it is a pleasant scent to wear as I do not find the sillage to be overpowering. I have to make a comment on the bottle though. It is shaped like a whimsical, abstract flower and I love it. Overall score for the scent is 7/10.

This smells a little like Hugo Boss Deep Red but sweeter. They have similar notes of pear, mandarin orange, sandalwood, vanilla and musk. I don't get much floral from Oscar Violet. I would consider this a fruity/vanilla gourmand. The dark chocolate and cinnamon really makes this one unique! Oscar Violet's prominent smell seems to be based around the pear instead of violets. The pear carries through all the layers. There might be the slightest hint of a powdery violets somewhere between the dark chocolate covered pears and vanilla. haha The cinnamon isn't overpowering (good thing for me) but adds a warm spicy/peppery kick in the background. The dry down is sweet and warm from the vanilla and sandalwood with slight fruitiness still lingering from the pear. Oscar Violet is exotic, sexy and well balanced. I'm surprised this one isn't more popular. Oscar Violet is for dark chocolate fans only which sometimes smells synthetic to those who don't care for that note.

Bought this one blind as it was cheap and I was in the mood for something new. Didn't expect much (not a gourmand lover) but was extremely pleasantly surprised! Oscar de la Renta Violet bears some similarities with Princess by Vera Wang (they have some common notes too). However, Violet is much more beautiful, more elegant and not as sweet. I do get the chocolate here but I would still classify this perfume as floral. Maybe a choko-floral :-) It is by no means sickening sweet (as most gourmand scents are). The mandarine orange and the violets complement beautifully the chocolate and the vanila undertones. Love it for the first couple of hours! The dry down hits pretty fast though, which is a pity, as I only get vanilla there. Wish it had a better staying power and better sillage but oh well, still good enough for me to want to keep it and wear it.

i couldn't agree more with the comments, it's weird that it's called VIOLET but not oozing with violets as i expected, when i bought Bvlgari Jasmin Noir, it actually smelt like Jasmin but this one has violets overpowered by many sweet notes, more prominently are chocolate and vanilla, so it ends up being a sweet frag instead of warm violets smell, it's likable and i use it sometimes but buying it isn't a necessity

I expected sweet, which it is. After all, violet aroma is quite sweet. But i was hoping for more violet. Positive: One thing in its favor is that, despite the listed ingredients, it does NOT smell like candy. I'd rather eat a chocolate truffle than smell like one. Negative: Unfortunately after dry-down on me, all i can smell is vanilla. Vanilla is fine as part of a complex scent, one in which it blends. I do not like primarily vanilla scents, however, and here the vanilla dominates. I have a soft spot for old-fashioned violet scents. But i really keep hoping to find a modern violet. This does not appear to be the one.

I think I can help about this one. It ́s still avaiable in Brazil for a reasonable price. When it was launched, with its "siblings" I thought it was the best of them. The subtile entrance is fresh and a bit "sweet peppery". As if preparing for an intoxicating next surprise. BUt, the heart of Violet is kind, more violet than dark chocolate. It is there, but is obscured by the cinnamon and violet. I don ́t think, though, it ́s a must have. I found the elements synthetic. The sillage is poor, common; vanilla average. Sweet, good,for warm nights, I think.

I found it in a thrift store, the price was under $10. I love violets, but this fragrance does not smell like them. It's very chocolate-y vanilla. Perhaps, for cold days this scent would be very comforting. But now it's very hot here and this fragrance is too strong for many. I would prefer a cool, fresh violet scent instead.

I like this scent alot. At first it is a very subtle floral but it later changes character and turns into a gourmand scent. It's very warm and creamy but I am not sure if I would buy it.

Is it floral, really? I get only gourmand notes here - chocolate, coconut and a hint of cinnamon. Similar to Ralph Hot to my nose.

This smells like sunshine. Like the smell of skin after a day on the beach. I really really like it.
