I am a new perfume junkie. I started collecting about a year and a half ago when I quit smoking cigarettes. I can finally wear perfume again. Smoking ruined it for me. What is the point if you're going to smell like smoke anyway... I am learning quickly that expensive doesn't always mean better. I have some perfumes that were 250.00 that are fleeting (especially my Creed selections). I would prefer this scent to many of my expensive rose based perfumes. My all-time favorite is Stella Rose Absolute and this reminds me of that very much. With SRA being so hard to find now, this is a great inexpensive option! This rose is lovely. If you like the original Stella or SRA, you will like this. It is a true rose without any alcohol smell or synthetic at all. The rose is dominant all the way through. It lasts far longer than I anticipated. Price is not an indicator of performance, longevity and sillage. Just figured that out. This also reminds me of another brand De Rosine (I think is the name). One of their selections (I know it starts with an E) smells just like this! Someone stated that it is soapy and I find that to be true. Not an in-your-face soapy, but very subtle clean mid and dry down. This is the best bargain I believe I have ever found so far and seriously underrated. Clean real rose all the way thru. I even layered it with Stella Nude and it perked up Stella Nude in a big way. I love all things Stella and blind bought Nude only to find that it is nothing like the Stella original or rose scent. Now perhaps I will get some use out of Stella Nude. It really does complement this scent. Safe blind buy if you love smell of roses much like Stella and De Rosine.

I am a sucker for rose perfumes, and I'm lucky enough to own quite a few of them. I must say this gem is absolutely perfect! This just may be my favorite rose perfume. With the first spritz, I'm surrounded by real, fresh cut, roses. Tons of them! Such a beautiful composition! There is none of the "plasticky" smell that sometimes clouds other perfumes. My hubby doesn't care for it when I wear certain scents because he is sensitive, and unfortunately for me, this is one of the scents he can't tolerate too well. That's truly the only negative thing I can say about owning and wearing this beauty. When I'm having a bad day I like to put a good amount of this on so that I can be comforted by it and it always improves my mood and my day. I am a big fan of all of Oscar's perfumes, but I would have to crown this one queen of them all! I intend to buy several bottles soon so that should it ever be discontinued I won't ever be without it. I don't think anyone looking for a rose perfume that actually smells like roses, without much in the way of other notes that are able to be picked out, could do any better than this. It is just so gorgeous!

FALL IN LOVE. Velvety lush rose scent opening with a burst of rosy pear, freesia and lily of the valley that deepens into a velvety rich rose & peony heart resting on a musky woody base. The rose is slightly MiddleEastern, and this takes a few months to develop the true scent, after which it takes on a whipped fluffy quality. The first few sprays out of the bottle before storing smelt more like a light rose-oud blend, but now overall I get a taif-rose vibe with a velvety whipped quality and some jammy facets. Contrast to Stella Stella McCartney: These are different but I can see why they have been compared. With Stella I get a tea-rose leaning more shampoo-like and with Oscar Rose I get a taif-rose leaning luxury whipped body cream. With Stella, in the drydown I also get soapiness and a faint pencil shaving note on the skin that I don't smell in Oscar Rose. Overall: Absolutely beautiful & versatile scent profile and above average performance, this is the perfect scent to wear for falling in love. It's a love for me. Enjoy!

It's fresh throughout and a little soapy on the drydown, not a hint of stuffiness or potpourri. This is the smell when you stick your face in a bouquet of fresh roses at the grocery store & inhale. It has just the right sillage for my humid, tropical climate. It's present but I’ve never been self-conscious or worried that it’s too much for others in the heat. Maybe it will help someone if I compare to other rose scents I’ve had: There's no greeness or bitter stalks like in Perfumer's Workshop Tea Rose. It doesn't have the citrus that is in Chloe Roses de Chloe or Stella EDT (the nude colored bottle with all the little dots). It doesn't have that detergent smell that the drydown of Paul Smith Rose has. It doesn't have the beeswax note that goes rancid on me in Jo Malone Red Roses. It's nowhere near as sweet as Viva La Juicy Rose Juicy Couture. It doesn't have the musk that Philosophy Amazing Grace Nude Rose has.

I purchased a ODLR box set of three minis and this was one of them. I love it! I will say that fresh scents especially with peony in them are right up there in my top fives so this hits the Mark! Although, I’m not a huge fan of rose fragrances mostly because I find several of them to have that old lady vibe to it. But this isn’t rose overkill, it’s a nice mix of all notes put together into one. Would I spend a fortune on a full size bottle? No. Would I buy it if I got a deal? Definitely. It’s certainly inoffensive and a nice wear on those days you’re not sure what you want to wear for fragrance, lazy days, trailer days, beach days....yeah, it was $19.99 well spent for the trip of minis!!

I used to not like rose, it reminded me of boring 'oldish' scents from my childhoods, an aunty's soap or something like this. Thank goodness my taste has evolved and I now LOVE rose. And this is gorgeous. If you love rose, truly love and appreciate rose, this is gorgeous. The bottle is also gorgeous. I love having this and it's great to pair with oudh's that I have too - also an evolution of taste. I wish it was stronger and lasted longer, but I will overspray and use the regular tricks to hopefully make this last. I love Rose by Oscar de la Renta!

This is a scent hack. After three years of maceration this scent has turned into a depth of gorgeousness. It smells 'expensive'. (As it should. It's Oscar De La Renta after all, one our greatest designers.) It's a thick syrupy rose that boarders onto an oud smell. It's gorgeous and it's thick and if you love those exotic rose oud syrupy rose scents (Jo Malone Rose Oud, BR540, Delina, Rose Jam Lush) then this is your JAM. Today I sprayed some vanilla/caramel body spray on and just a touch of this and - and we have magic.

I really like this rose perfume. I smell rose and more rose, with a hint of freshness that seems a bit citrusy to me but probably is the pear in the notes. I don't really pick up the other notes listed. It reminds me of a perfume I had in the 90s from Jessica McClintock (I think). It lasts fairly long on me which is unusual. It is not overwhelming in any way. Just a lovely, light, classy rose perfume. I am quite happy with it (and purchased it based on reviews here, so thanks!).

Thank you lizzyshreds. I'm convinced to blind buy this beauty after I saw your comment because I love both Roses de Chloe and Lovely by Sarah Jessica Parker. This perfume also reminds me of Jo Malone Red Rose because of it's straight up rose scent. It is light and feminine. It is a little bit soapy at some point if you smell it closely but just very tiny bit. Longevity to me is about 4-5 hours.

It's a wonderful, light, fresh and spicey kind of rose scent. I'm in love with the fragrance, it makes me smile every time I wear it, only downside is the poor longevity. With improved longevity it would definitely be one of my favourites. But as it is, it remains an uplifting day scent for at home or casual wear. It's still definitely a good buy due to the affordable price.

This fragrance reminds me of Lush Rose Jam. It's a soft dewey yet jammy rose with a hint of berries and a little citrus. I think it's closer to Rose Jam than Rose Flash. Very feminine with moderate sillage and longevity. If you are a true rose lover you will probably love this one. If rose is not your thing stay far far away.

I love rose, to me it's sweet, comforting, feminine and delicious. I know not everyone will like this perfume, but I adore it. Could it use more layers? A little more depth? Sure, but this rose is jammy, pretty and lasts. This is lovely layered with other rose scents, but pretty on its own.

Yes! Finally a rose scent i can rock and wear 😌 pleasantly pleased. I also got the 3 minis in the pack. This is my favorite. It smell like a wild rose I would find on a walk. Super nice.

well rounded rose scent, fresh soapy clean, perfect for a hot summer day

In my mind, I have different kinds of perfume associated with old age, definitely not roses (or lilies-of-the-valley). So I wonder if the kind of rose I find in this fragrance is the kind they disparage as geriatric. There’s the same combination of Damask Rose and Rose in Chopard Felicia, but it’s very fizzy there, uplifted by fresh spiciness, citrus and aromatic notes. In this one, the rose is kind of flat-footed and brooding. Not a great blend in my humble estimation. I can see that other reviews are full of praise for it, and yes, it’s velvety, but for me I think this is the first time a rose is rubbing me the wrong way. I doubt this can become my favourite, but I can probably get used to it. I can see people are comparing this fragrance to Fleur Fatale, but I happened to open the boxes at the same time, and they are very different despite being both rose-forward. PS: I’ve bought some fragrant oil of a ‘black velvet rose’, and that’s the smell. I prefer the fragrance of the lightly coloured ones. PPS (August): I do wear it, and it’s pleasant. Very quiet though, as if hushed. I seem to only smell the Taif rose and not much else. That stops me from liking it fully. I thought maybe the top notes were gone due to age. But no: the bottle turns out to be of very recent production - 2022-08. I’m still to see if it can hold up better in summer heat as rose frags often do.

I like the fragrance so far, two sprays on the back of my hand and on a piece of paper, but it's the bottle that makes me swoon. Really gorgeous design with that pink glass and elegant stylized cap (plastic but it matches the glass perfectly). The rose isn't hyperrealistic or anything, but it is easily identifiable even amid the higher-pitched white florals. I like the soapiness--it's not as extreme as in True Love by Elizabeth Arden, which this reminded me of at first sniff--but the rose is jammy enough to counteract it. I don't care if this seems "old lady." One of my favorite fragrances is from 1912, so clearly I DGAF about numbers. Update: wearing today; husband thinks it smells "OK, a little lemony/spiky." To me it smells like a fresh rose more than a jammy rose now, but maybe that's because I wore Club de Nuit Imperiale all day yesterday. It's also possible that the notes I perceive as soapy are more citrussy to his nose. Strange, how differently people can perceive the same scent!

A nice, fresh rose scent. As the name suggests, the key note in this is rose. The use of damask rose is what gives the freshness, with the peony, freesia and lily-of-the-valley giving it that extra floral "pow", while the pear gives it a slight juiciness. I'm a big rose lover who has a history of wearing pretty intense florals, so this one is a win for me. Considering some of the floral notes, I'm surprised this is as well-balanced as it is. Freesia and lily-of-the-valley tend to be overpowering, but it this case they play second fiddle to the rose. As far as longevity and sillage go, this one is about average. It's pretty powerful upon first spray but it calms down with the sillage and gives about 4-5 hours of wear. Overall verdict: It's a pleasant fresh rose scent and I like it. It's not a love, but I will certainly keep wearing and enjoying this one.

Just found this lovely fragrance yesterday at (sadly) one of those deep-discount clothing stores (kinda like a T.J. Maxx). Upon first spritz, I thought, "what does this remind me of?" And I think, for the moment, it reminds me of Sweet Love by Bodycology, but, obviously, so much better! It's a very soft, ladylike (to address any unisex questions), quite-complex rose. My only other straight-ahead rose is the Persian Rose by Pacifica. I find it pretty, but really alot sharper by comparison. This fragrance is soft, fresh and sunny, but not cloying (at least not to me). The only thing is, once you get into the actual five or six hours-in drydown, there's no rose anymore and it smells like April Fields by Coty, that sorta pungent cucumber, citrus + musk that I really don't like. So, truthfully, the rose doesn't hold well.

Such a wonderfull Rose scent. I was very hesitent to buy this one blind .Roses can have so many faces in perfumes and i wanted somthing that realy smelled like rose. This one did not leave me brokenhearted . This is a True Pink rose , It isent a deap dark ofr very powdery Rose its rather fresh and slightly soapy . Not to much soap in any way . The balance is very nice . Its more on the cold cooling side of Rose . Not much warmth or darknes here . A very nice scent fro Summer and spring . joyfull, vivid ,playfull and easy to wear . The scent is also quit long lasting .Not a very large sillage medium maybe . Lasts about 6-8 hours . Rose is defenetly the star in this perfume with peony ,musk and a slight juicy fruit makes it feal like a pink rose. Heavenly scent . And a very good perfume for the money

At first, I wasn't sure that I would like this scent upon first sniff, but I am actually really enjoying it. It smells like a true rose scent, but not too heady. This scent is simple, and fresh. Personally, I think Oscar perfumes are usually nice, and I enjoy their pretty bottles. Most Oscar perfumes are worth trying, even if it is a blind buy because they are so affordable. If you were not to enjoy your bottle, then just pass it on to someone that will, because there will always be someone who loves it. This perfume reminds me of Romance by Ralph Lauren. Not an exact match, but it definitely has certain elements that are the same. I'd wear this mostly in the spring, or in the Winter, when you are craving spring,and need a pick-me-up.

I’m always a fan of Oscar de La Renta fragrances, and this didn’t disappoint. I actually don’t usually get along with rose scents, but this one is different. She is so soft and feminine and the peony shines through. It’s not a vintage smelling rose, it’s a whisper. It does have a slight soapy smell, but I enjoy that. It’s like you just had a luxurious bubble bath with rose petals floating on top. She smells clean, elegant, and inoffensive, almost like you’re not wearing a perfume, but rather just naturally smell like a feminine goddess! I’m not sure about longevity but for the price, it’s easy enough to reapply before going out in the evening.

Am I the first? Identifying notes is not my strong point, but I'll do my best. Oscar Rose opens with a lot of rose and a little bit of berries. As it settles I get a soft spice (maybe the tiniest bit of licorice or anise?) There are some other floral notes, not pronounced enough for me to identify. Soft wood and warm musk underlay the rose but are never prominent. It stays very rosy for the entire duration, but isn't linear because the surrounding notes shift. On me it lasts 4 or 5 hours. The sillage is low but I only do one spray. Sometimes its gotten a bit soapy after the first hour, but a nice soap. Solid 'like' for me.

And of course, the beautiful pink bottle and the rose notes... Aah, I am a sucker for rose perfume😉😄😄 And my usual 6 sprays lasted me for a full 6 hours. I don't know how Stella smells, many reviewer have been either bashing Oscar Rose for it's disimilarities or raving on how this reminds them of that. But Rose is just pretty on its own and for that price, there is no need for comparison too. 😁

Got this as deal $21 at Shoppers, yaay! Lovely fresh petal rose, dewy essence of a rose. Freessia and some lily of the valley accent this majestic rose. Scent is straightforward, Rosey all the way. Light and fresh. Only downside maybe 2hrs longevity, apply freqently. Well done for the price and simplicity every day wear. It makes me happy type a scent, puts a smile on my face :) There's never enough Rose scents that I can get. I really like this one for every day mood pick up or when I'm not sure what to wear.

I have a difficult time smelling anything other than rose. Strong, plasticky, rose. I love the smell of roses and therefore I like this scent a lot. I wish that plasticky smell wasn't there though. It's a scent that I wear around the house or to bed and I feel like it cheers me up when I'm feeling blue. I like Oscar de la Renta Rose better than Chloe Rose because I can smell ONLY that rose note in Oscar and that's what I want. Roses, nothing but beautiful roses.

I like this fragrance and the bottle with the cap, and the packaging. I am surprised that some lovers of "fancy" bottles and caps dislike this. I paid $20 before taxes and I am very satisfied! However, I only use it at home, so I do not know how this fragrance smells outside. And I do not use it often, so I did not get tired of it.

Wake up and the smell the roses! This was a hidden gem that i just got today along with the lotion and the shower gel for only 24.99 Can't beat that. It smells to me like fresh cut roses crushed and dusted with some musk and white wood powder, very wearable! It does remind me of Vs so in love, but that one was more woodsy.

Bam! Rose! And not a synthetic kind of rose. It's beautiful and natural smelling. It's the star of the show here by far. Rose lovers will really appreciate it and should definitely buy it no questions asked. Peony, musk and other notes, not so noticeable. I can pick up the lily of the valley though. But the rose!

Watery and soapy rose; very fresh, uplifting, and clean, almost spa-like. This is perfect for spring & summer, body heat will contrast wonderfully with the fresh soapiness of this scent. Sillage is close to skin, moderately lasting if heavily sprayed. Definitely worth purchasing

I am currently using this. Its very light lasts for about an hour. That is I'm coming from high humidity country. It refreshing as I spray it in the day not for evening use. Light Rose smell. Not sure if I would repeat this into my collection.

I got it as a gift and pair with either a gourmand body spray or rosewater and ivy when I want a rose vibe. Kind of mysterious for fall or floral for spring. I'm almost out of it but it was lovely!

A beautiful light rose scent. Super pleasing and enjoyable while being light and not dated at all. Almost like rose water. Don't be afraid of this, it's a great beginner rose and for any age

This is very pretty, like a watered down Perfumer's Workshop Tea Rose. It is a green, crisp, sharp rose with lot of peony and freesia and a hint of musk. It is not jammy at all.

Those that say this gives off a soapy vibe are close, because to me this smells exactly like Thrills gum, but I still love it. Too bad it doesn't last.

Sarah Michaels rose-scented bath cubes. You'll like that, or you won't.

It’s pretty nice fragrance, not very strong but very pleasant to wear.

I've seen a split in the reviews here between a darker version, and one that smells light like Rosewater. We'll call this a review for the darker one. Boozy Roses. Dried Rose Petal Tea. Turkish delight for a second. Fresh roses come later. Spicy. Woodsy. Heavier. Darker. Slightly fermented over ripened Pear note that fades fast. The rose stays relatively close to the skin, but the Lily of the Valley note carries 15 feet away. I've had other noses comment on it. It seems to shine more in colder weather under 10°C.

This is a strange one for me. Initially it smells like almost nothing. Almost as though I used a rose water spray. As it dries it the flowers smell to bloom, but they aren't quite as "modern" as I'd hoped. I'm interested to see if I can layer it with Nest's Turkish Rose Oil to give it a bit of brightness. Though I'm not head of heels for it, there's a simplicity that I appreciate.

Pleasant, true old fashioned rose scent (if you know roses you know the difference between the old type with the thick stems and killer thorns and the more modern that are bred for traits.) Gets soapier as it dries. Not terribly interesting IMO, but rose isn't a note I'd buy as a soliflore so I'm not the target market. Projects to arms length and better at 2 sprays.

A very soapy bubble bath rose. Sillage and longevity are both weak. I have other inexpensive roses I like much more.

I did not care for this one. I paid $20 for a 3.4 oz at Burlington. Luckily I was able to return it. On me this smelled dusty, sour and rancid. Maybe it was a bad bottle, but I was not feeling it. Too bad because I love the bottle even though the cap is wonky and doesn’t stay on. I have never smelled Stella so I can’t comment on the resemblance. I do have JHG Miss Charming which is also supposed to resemble Stella. To my nose, that one is much better. This does remind me of Yardley English Rose, which gave me the same rotten rose vibe. Also, Rose compared to Chloe de Roses, I don’t get the similarities. I actually like that one. Rose perfumes that I like: CH Very Good Girl, Mix Bar Glass Rose, Chopard Happy Felicia, most of the Chloe’s. Rose perfumes that I don’t like: Rose Rush PH, Yardley English Rose, Cabotine Rose, Perfumers Workshop Tea Rose. I will say as it dries down, I can tolerate it, but it isn’t worth keeping . Not the rose for me.

I love rose, it's my favorite note in fragrance. But to me this smells awful, very unfortunately. I've never smelled a rose frag like this, one that I actually strongly disliked, so perhaps whichever type of rose they use in this perfume is just not for my nose, as the other notes in this composition seem okay. It's very very antique smelling, not fresh at all. Usually a soapy rose, while not my favorite type, wouldn't be off-putting to me, but this rose brings to my mind images of a nursing home. I don't understand some of the reviews stating this is a light fresh vivid youthful rose scent. There must be two seperate formulations of this perfume. And I clearly have the murkier oriental version. I will never wear this scent but I will keep the bottle for display because it's such a beautiful shape and color. It's prettier in person than in the stock photo.

This is a not very sweet rose turkish delight sort of rose smell and I was thrilled about it! I've been looking for a rose perfume with a Turkish delight vibe, but obviously this doesn't work for my skin chemistry because on the tester card it's lovely. Sniff the bottle and it's lovely. Then it hits my skin and a - sorry about this but it's the only way to describe it - there is an odd sweaty crotch sort of smell! I've never had a perfume do this on my skin so it's odd, but it definitely doesn't like my skin (or my skin doesn't like IT). Really rather gutted! I bet this smells lovely on other people :(

Sadly, this fragrance is almost gone before the alcohol evaporates. There is barely any detectable rose note, and only a hint of pear. 20 minutes in, all that remains is a pitiful, dank, old musk note. Overall, a great disappointment after reading so many gushing reviews about this Oscar Rose being a true natural rose scent. Although deeply discounted to $18, it wasn’t worth that small amount, except that the bottle is quite lovely. Overall, a very disappointing blind buy when I had such high hopes. Regrettably, I cannot recommend.

this starts with rose and a heavy dose of peony. peony is probably my least favorite floral note so i am unsure how this is gonna go. i get a hint of lily of the valley and a clean musk note. it's a soapy peony-rose. i do remember not liking stella and though i tried it long ago, this does seem similar, but much lighter, therefore more tolerable for me.i just do not like peony-it goes quite sour and screechy on me unfortunately, so this is not a win for me. though i am sure it's lovely on the right person.

Personally this perfume isn't my favorite. It just has that "old" scent to it, if that makes sense. I mean, it smells floral, definitely, powdery too, and the bottle is cute and all, but it's not really my favorite to be completely honest. The price overall is pretty good and the lasting power is not too bad either, about 6 hours. It's okay.

This ain't it. There's no quality. Even for a body spray this is would be weak and underwhelming. Gave mine away. There's just nothing likeable about it and I am not difficult about rose perfumes. It's just weak and it turns a bit in a way on the skin where you're not sure if you smell nice or clean.

I am so sorry everyone. This landed heavy and incense like on me. My husband said it smells masculine. I hate that my dry skin burned off the good notes and left me with disappointment.

This fragrance will suit you only...only.. in the case if you like smell of the rose water. Only in this case! I love fragrance of roses and rose oils, but rose water here is practically irritates me..I cant even name this fragrance as a perfumery water.. It is more like a rose soap or cream for body with the rose water. Almost a scrub off for me..
