Ruby Velvet

Just loving this one right now, I have had it for a year and a half and am kicking myself for not wearing it sooner! That's what happens when your collection grows very large quickly! This beauty is one of those rare ones that suits all seasons night or day and pretty much any occasion. And lasting power or what! I've really got to get a backup bottle while it can still be found at Shoppers Drug Mart for !9.99, especially if I can snag it on discount Thursdays! The patchouli is there, but softly for those who shy away from it, so don't be scared off. Ruby is the perfect name for this baby, the jasmine is very prominent and the red currant is poking up too. Love, love this.

this is a must out of the collection.its long-lasting and a beautiful sweet smell, you cant go wrong with this scent

Just got it also from Shoppers Drug Mart (Pharmaprix in Canada) for 19.99$. This was a blind buy and took a chance because I bought a few weeks ago the Midnight Amber from the same line of ODLR and I love it so, from the notes of this one (Ruby Velvet) and reviews on this site I decided to give it a try. I agree with eloisegirl who compared it to La vie est belle, which I love. I would say they are close friends but Ruby Velvet is not as sweet as LVEB. This will be perfect to wear at the office and save my LVEB for special occasions since it is much more expensive. They had two other of the line, but I would like to find the Jasmine one since I'm a jasmine lover. Conclusion, I am happy with this blind buy, for the price this was a very good deal.

If Flowerbomb & LVEB had a baby sister, it would be Ruby Velvet. Very sweet, gently powdery and floral, and the patchouli & iris are tender but consistent. Moderate sillage, but lasts well enough, definitely in line for spring & summer. Super affordable, a worthwhile addition to a collection.

Lovely fruity-floral. It's sweet from both the fruit and floral notes but not overly so. It's similar to LVEB but certainly not a dupe. It's not as strong or sharp, it's softer and just very pretty. It smells more expensive than it is and you can wear it anywhere, daytime or evening.

Love the bottle. So pretty. The fragrance is very much in the realm of the Frutchoulie-sugar-bomb fragrances that are so popular with young ladies today. This one is just as common and quite unremarkable. On my skin it is fruity and sweet with a little powder. Truly not my cup of tea, but did I mention how pretty the bottle is? 🥰. Oscar Ruby Velvet has strong projection and sillage. Longevity is at least 7 hours on my skin. It is discounted and very inexpensive presently, so with hope springing ever eternal in the blind buyer’s dreams, I bought three of these Oscar flankers because of the bargain price and the really lovely bottles. (Will I never learn?) I believe I shall decant the “juice” into a spritz bottle and use it as air freshener in the bathroom. I may then look into turning the lovely bottles into a trio of vases. I think that would be the best use of this particular blind buy. 💝

Oscar de la Renta really churns out the flankers and they are more hits than misses. Ruby Velvet is a hit. It does have a LVEB vibe, but lighter and fresher since it's missing that praline note. Instead, there is a powdery floral sweetness from mimosa and the iris adds some softness. The currant is just a bit tart and refreshing. Ruby Velvet is still sweet, but it's not overwhelming. The bottle is striking. (I almost kept it's sister fragrance Midnight Amber because I liked that bottle too.) Ruby Velvet lasts for hours and at $20 it's a great bargain pick.

I'm a patchouli lover and I can definitely smell that patchouli in the hot summer heat. I'm hoping I might appreciate this particular fruity floral backing more in the fall and winter.... or at least on a less hot and humid day. :) Edit: I had to wait longer.... the fruity floral fades into a sweet, powdery, iris combo that doesn't match the red bottle in my mind. It's pleasant but not a "wow".

This perfume is cheap but it smells of quality! It’s a fruity floral and has great longevity. I am very shocked by the smell and performance. My daughter, who is 12 introduced this to me. Once I smelt it on my daughter i immediately purchased it. It’s in the same vein of La Vie Est Belle and Flowerbomb but it’s still it’s own perfume. I like it a lot.

Clone of La Vie Est Belle - but for $19.99 for 3.4 oz at Shoppers Drug Mart, it's a great deal. Too sweet for me.
