Sargasso

YUM! It starts out with a blast of crisp cucumber that is sweetened just a bit by the citrus. It reminds me of tart pineapple. As it settles down, the patchouli wraps it up and ohh! I am not a fan of aquatic fragrances but I really like this one. I am having a hard time smelling any seaweed though, I do think it is becoming slightly prominent the longer I wear it but it definitely is not an overdose of it.

This is a very interesting fragrance. I stumbled upon this one on Fragrantica, and it sounded interesting, so I decided to blind buy it. I was also very drawn in by the name, as I've always been interested in the Sargasso Sea. To me I get a blast of pickles at the very initial spray (i've read this before with other aquatic scents), and then it goes to a salty seaweed scent with some light lemon/citrus. I'm guessing the pickles vibe comes from the seaweed and cucumber notes, but that doesn't last long (thankfully). I see that patchouli is listed as a note, however I don't get a lot of patchouli...however, there is something that is a bit powdery in the background. This is a very light Eau de Cologne, so it wears like a body spray and has to be refreshed throughout the day. This is a nice refreshing scent for hot Summer days. In my opinion this is unisex, leaning more feminine, and is great for Spring and Summer.

Received samples today and have to say I love it. It is so fresh but without any harshness. Perfect for keeping in the fridge to enjoy a refreshing spritz. Cucumber is the first note to hit you then the citrus. It is definitely an aquatic scent and I think unisex. The patchouli gives a base to this scent. I dont get much lemon which is a shame but plenty of sea breeze. I can smell the sea so that must be seaweed. Altogether the few notes make a lovely fresh scent for summer day wear. It doesnt have much sillage on me and the longevity is average. It is lovely but I wouldnt pay just over £100 a bottle?!

Sargasso is the other worldly dreamer. A fragrance that carries the wearer out with the tide and back in again for yet another whiff....

Sargasso is the name of a region of the North Atlantic Ocean, which was probably long known for its distinct ecology before fifteenth-century Portuguese explorers named it after a kind of brown seaweed (Sargassum) that grows on the surface of the water. The first blast of Sargasso is citrusy but that quickly fades into a strange room refreshener or car freshener scent. It's borderline generic, like those "salt spray" hair mists with blue coloring that actually want you to believe that shit came from the ocean. But don't worry, that only lasts a minute or two. Then a most delightful sweetness emerges. I keep sensing honeydew melon, but it must be the cucumber note. The sweetness never gets cloying or heavy. It's crisp, airy, and a little floral. And there is an underlying salt and mineral feeling (is that the seaweed accord?) that keeps this vast and oceanic, even a little sad. Longevity and silage are poor. But since I got it at a huge discount, I will feel okay spraying liberally. With a lovely scent like this, you need to go big or go home.

Sargasso might be the most interesting of the Essential line,it starts off lemony/ breezy, aromatic scent that reminds me of a tropical vacation, sea breeze, it is a bit exotic, and also unisex , so for me, don't know, this is nicely done if you are looking for an aquatic type of scent, Sargasso has an edge, that some might truly like, it is interesting that way, as of me, I enjoy the sample, but I wouldn't purchase a bottle, so far, it has something nice about it, I detect the watery edge of the cucumber, just a twist. Not sure though it is worth $150!?

Starts with a blast of citrus only to quiet down after a few minutes to become a beautiful summery fresh scent of the colors green and blue... It smells of the ocean, of seaweed, of cucumbers yet it remains clean and delicate enough to be worn by all genders... Well made hot weather daytime scent

I love Sargasso's initial zing and crispness. The scent does not last very long but that might be because it is not meant to be too overpowering on a summer's day.

It opens like Teo Cabanel Meloe. Melony citrus ozonic. Then it turns into L'eau D'Issey - as it used to smell. An underrated gem.
