Tropical & Creamy Fruity-Floral Gourmand... Opens with a sweet, citrus-y, fruity-floral burst of passionflower & dewberry accented by mandarin & bergamot. That deepens into the tropical yellow & white floral heart, resting on an amber-vanilla & sandalwood base. After the bottle ages a bit, and over time on the skin some lactonic tones emerge from the frangipani & sandalwood. This isn't an exact dupe of anything, but overall it's a pleasant fruity-floral gourmand with prominent reminders of other popular fruity-floral gourmands, such as Pink Friday Nicki Minaj. Has average performance for a light summer wearing experience, that improves and develops the full scent profile with dark storage after first sprays to where it could be worn spring through fall. Overall: affordable, tropical & creamy fruity-floral gourmand with prominent reminders of other popular scents. For what it is: sleeper hit that takes some storage. it's a love for me. Enjoy! Update: Came back to this one again after awhile and it's really gotten even more creamy & vanillic - almost caramel. I'm getting tropical notes with caramel and marshmallow now. Still has the tropical-floral tones. It's getting sweeter and more full bodied with even better performance. Before the vanilla was aged, to my nose the top main accords were Floral, Citrus, Fruity, Sweet, Tropical followed by the rest. However, after the vanilla aged I get top main accords of Vanilla, Tropical, Woody, Yellow-Floral, White-Floral followed by the rest. Every time I wear this, I'm loving it more.

17th of may, I went to my storage and collected my summer-perfumes, yes, I stored and seperated my perfumes in summer and winter-perfumes, also because a lack of place, but, now those days are over, and all of my perfumes are with me, including this big beauty: I didn't have time to get to know this tropcale last summer, when I blindly bought it because of the notes and your nice comments, and, yes, it is just the way you describe it, it's sunny summer, I want my bikini, have I got any suntan left?, and where is my umbrella-drinks?? Only minus is, it dissapears quickly, on the pluss side is, yesss, you reallly-reallly want to overspray yourself with this nice juice, it fits everybody who loves summer and sun, fruits and vanilla icecream :D xo xo xo

Wow, I'm really surprised with this one seeing as I managed to swipe a bottle for £12. The bottle is quite ugly and heavy, but perhaps that's just my personal opinion. It looks quite dated and vintage if you like that sort of thing, but the colour is very nice and aquatic looking. As for the juice... This stuff smells super pretty. Beachy, clean, vibrant, tropical... Had it on my arm for about two hours and it still smells as good as when I first sprayed it. I would describe this as a pick-me-up perfume. It smells so juicy and fruity that I can't stop sniffing my arm. I feel very happy and carefree when wearing it. Definitely a summer perfume.

This is delicious! Fruity, vanilla, not much floral. I keep smelling my arm it's so good. What I like about this is it's tropical without relying on the usual coconut overdose that makes most fragrances in this genre smell like sunscreen. Its got a sexiness from the base notes of vanilla, amber and sandalwood. OMG, I love it! I wish I had bought a back up bottle and I will if I see it again. SDM has them for $20 occasionally.

I looove this scent! I blind bought it from an online store just by reading the notes. What a direct hit. This scent is lovely, yummy, tropical and sweet. I can smell the vanilla, the frangipani, some sweet berries and some juicy floraly notes. This perfume is just perfect. I cant stop sniffing my arm. Smells sophisticated and unique.

I adore this. Smoothly blended vanilla and plumeria with kisses of fruit and freshness. Clean, warm, friendly, a wonderful all rounder. Lasts a long time on clothes.

Can anyone who owns both, compare this to Lancome Hypnose? I'm curious to try this Oscar in the pretty turquoise bottle as I love Hypnose and they share similar notes. 2/16/23 edit: I have since purchased Tropicale and I like it! It's no Hypnose dupe, but there are little hints here an there. If Hypnose was a "warm vanilla" scent, it would be similar to this offering from Oscar. I like it very much. Even though it's nothing groundbreaking, I don't have anything in my collection that smells like this. So I'm happy!

tropical? no, not in my book. Tropical would be more fruity and juicy while this one is 90% vanilla that is enhanced with some white flowers. Not bad at all, just bought it on the premise that it was tropical. Nothing spectecular here, I'm afraid. it is pretty generic to me. Good quality tho and no synthetic tones, for the the matter. It is a decent vanilla for the price tho. Additionally, it is quite sweet and heavy on me, so I would not wear it during summer either. Not thrilled with my blind buy. Sigh.

Oh it’s lovely if you like a true tropical ylang-tiare with a hint of floral creaminess and just enough sweetness from vanilla. Pure Tahitian summer. Who couldn’t be happy in this scent? Does not change much from the initial opening and not hugely original or trying to bring in some new interpretation of this idea but, alas, delivers fully on its tropical promise. I spray liberally and get a second bottle while still available. Lovely!

I just blind bought this and I couldn’t be happier with it. I have yet to wear it for a full day but on initial spray i get a sweet, fruity, fresh and tropical scent. I am not good at describing notes but it smells really good !! I am very surprised there aren’t any more glowing reviews on this. Smells unique (to me) and it smells expensive. Perfect for my beach vacation to the Meditaranean this summer !

One of the best perfumes EVER!My new favourite one! And one of the best from Oscar de la Renta! Love love love! Suitable for all occasions and seasons, but most suitable for summer and spring and day.

Smells like very synthetic passion flowers and tons of vanilla. It is quite strong too. I used to have a passion flower once that smelled gorgeous when it very briefly blossomed. That is all a faint memory now, and while this in many ways smell nice and reminds me of the real flower it just doesn't work that well for me. It seems it works for many others though, which is great! I was actually interested in bb it partly because of the shampoo type scent it is described as. And I do agree, this would be a very fitting scent for a girly shampoo or showet gel. Unfortunately, that idea was better in theory than in reality for me. Tried layering with bois dore for fun. I applied BD first then one spritz of T on one wrist for experimentation. Tropicale totally dominated poor BD into submission! I can only smell T for the first hour! The combination is quite interesting and I might just try it for a full wear. But I mention mostly to give a picture of the strength of the opening. Projection is good, but longevity is pretty poor

Very, very floral vanilla with hints of fruits. I expected it to be a bit fruitier and warmer. A miss for me personally but it’s not offensive and it would be great for work or casual wear in the spring/summer. Just a bit generic for me, I feel like I’ve smelled lots of thing’s similar to this one. Reminds me a bit of a Vera Wang Princess flanker but I can’t remember which one. I definitely get the similarities to Hypnose by Lancome except this is a touch fruitier. I blind bought a tester bottle for £15 so I’m not too disappointed considering the price I paid. I’ll probably give this away to someone who isn’t as fussy about fragrance as I am.

Revisited my Tropicale since there's almost Spring in the air today. Still not one of my top fave scents. A bit too...I dunno...froufrou...while I lean towards woohooo. Not head over heels on Tropicale but I'd wear it with heels as a nice occasion scent. Inoffensive. White floral pleasantry. meh but not blegh.

Plan on revisiting this one because I'm not impressed. Hotel shampoo scent. Okay but I expected something fuller.

Lovely sweet tropical Fruity vanilla but idk I feel too childish when I wear it

Bought this specifically because I miss my Tahiti island dream! They do smell similar, but where they difer is in the dry down. Tahiti island dream had more vanilla and was creamier. This is sharper and clearly has ambroxan. I hate ambroxan. So all in all a bad blind buy! I'm going to wait till summer and see if layering it with coconut will smooth it out. If not I'll be giving it away.

Tropicale is not a floral bouquet that evokes the tropics, as per the description. It's also nothing like Escada-type tropicals - diaphanous fruity-florals. Tropicale could be in a new class called "light gourmand" or "warm-weather gourmand." Friends, we have a definite gourmand here. Opens with creamy vanilla, like a candy commercial with swirling filling. Creamy almost nutlike vanilla - I had to check the notes again to be sure hazelnut was not there. The berry note comes out in the heart. At first, it's not really there, but after half an hour it comes out and adds flavor to the sweetness. Orange flower blends with the vanilla and is the dominant floral note, but the tiare and ylang-ylang are also noticeable. If you shy away from ylang-ylang, don't worry because that note is very light. The scent develops into a bright fresh gourmand, rather unusual because most gourmands are heavy and can feel sticky and cloying in hot weather. Where I live it is very hot summertime, and Tropicale works wonderfully. Gives a sweetness but also an orangey tang to keep it from running off the rails into vanilla cupcake territory. (No criticism of sweet smells, but they swarm in super hot weather. This doesn't.) Overall it reminds me of an outdoor festival, a combination of flowers, fruit, and funnel cakes. But not in a photorealistic way - this is not one of those niche scents like Funfair Evening. Everything is blended with the usual Oscar de la Renta ladylike touch that gives the perfume grace. If you see this, definitely give it a try. For an inexpensive summer scent, it breaks from the usual beachy, soliflore, or aquatic scents people tend to wear in the heat. Tropicale needs heat to bring out its layers. I have only worn this in hot weather, so can't comment on performance in cool conditions. Shockingly good for the price. Side note - love the ODLR bottle design, so iconic. If you are familiar with his Jasmine, Rose, Esprit d'Oscar, Orange Flower or Midnight Amber, it's the same design but in deep teal. Very pretty bottle.

Alces alces is spot on in the review. It is perfect for summer (100 degrees plus for WEEKS!). Not too sweet and very pleasant. Suitable for office wear. Longevity is light to moderate with two sprays, but in super hot weather that is a good thing. Very light sillage, again an advantage for super hot weather. I like this but would not buy it again.

This is a sweet fruity shampoo-y fragrance with a warm vanilla base. An easy grab in the spring and summer when you are craving something sweet but light.
