Foreverness

This is the third OSM scent that I received as part of a discovery set that I won in a giveaway here on Fragrantica. 15 - Foreverness is a lovely green scent. The list of notes might scare someone off (salt! soil! moss! etc.), but the scent is nicely blended and these potentially challenging notes do not stick out. If I should compare 15 to Zoologist fragrances, it is much more similar to green-leafy-woody scents such as Elephant, Beaver or Panda, than to the notorious Bat, where the soil tincture is much more prominent. Also, if you’re not a fan of rose, have no worries, because the presence of rose is barely felt. 15 - Foreverness is, thus, a scent of a botanical garden or an arboretum early in the morning, or after the rain. The strongest notes are fresh green leaves, moss and woods. It is a soft scent and, just like the other two that I reviewed thus far (28 and 84), it leans masculine. Before receiving the sample pack, I kind of expected that 15 would be my favourite, based on the list of notes; but now that I’ve tried it, I’d say that it’s too safe for my liking. I will give my final verdict after I’ve tested all four of them, but so far, 84 is the standout fragrance of this collection.

Starts off with a punch of wet dirt, which transforms into an earthy, green rose. It's humid, like walking through a wet garden during an early misty morning. You pluck some leaves off a rose bush and crush them in your hand. As it settles down the rose and earth fade out, leaving the bitter green of broken flower stems and a slight pepperiness. At this phase, it reminds me of browsing petunias in a greenhouse on a warm summer day. What a beautiful fragrance! It's very unique and artistic, one of the best greens I've had the pleasure of sampling. Longevity is not amazing— skin scent after thirty minutes, barely detectable after 4 hours— but it's hard to expect more from such a delicate, natural scent. it's more of a piece of art than something most people would want to wear on the day-to-day, anyway. (Key word: most. I could see myself picking up a bottle for spring.)

I’m actually in love with foreverness + want my whole world to smell like it. Earthy, bitter + tenderly sweet.

Strange and lovely, an odd bird pulling worms from the early morning earth. I did not look at the notes first, and would not have guessed salt but it makes sense. I get a forest garden, aromatic and complex. I don’t pick up the rose or anything sweet (thankfully). I applied 2 sprays at 9am and around 4pm I could no longer smell it. Still, for around 4-5 hours Foreverness 15 is quite noticeable so it has very good performance, especially for this kind of aromatic scent. This is not a mainstream scent, it’s not going to make everyone happy, and it’s not a compromise. I could imagine Foreverness being polarizing for that reason alone. But I love Foreverness 15. It’s my second review for the brand and if I didn’t like it I would say so, I have no desire to lead anyone astray. My discovery samples were won here on Fragrantica.

My first impression of this interesting scent? This is so green and masculine. A few seconds later, I could smell the rose. But this isn't a realistic green and rose scent like Diptyque's L'Ombre dans L'Eau. There's more to it. It is earthy. Like walking in an overgrown rose garden the morning after a heavy rain. As fragrance art meant to evoke a particular time and place this is a great success. As a perfume to wear on a daily basis? Not so much, but maybe that's not what the perfumer intended.

I was another sample set winner a while back and am just now getting around to these; I hesitate to try new scents on either work days or when I'm going to be part of an audience, and there's been a good deal of both lately! Like LadyIva, I was quite sure that this one would be an easy favorite and am now not so certain. It immediately hit me in the face with GREENGREENGREEN followed by something undeniably skanky that I'm surprised not to find in the notes; it wasn't soil-dirty or oakmoss-funkysharp but more animalic. Fortunately, since castoreum/civet/indolic flowers are not my jam, that passed before too long. It's now a bit over an hour since spraying, and I'm feeling more soft green and amyris with just a tiny bit of rose and musk sneaking in. Although it read more manly than womanly to me at the beginning, 15 - Foreverness is pretty, which I don't say to damn with faint praise. However, it's fading rather quickly (maybe I undersprayed?) and feels a bit like it's been done before.

I received a sample set from OSM tonight and wanted to leave a quick review. This reminds me of a particular local place, a botanical gardens which is spread throughout some old woods. My primary impression is of the earthiness and old forest quality of the soil and moss, but these aren't quite as sharp as in some other perfumes. They are smoothed and rounded out by the rose. I would say the notes listed are accurate.
