North Bondi

I'm a niche snob and collector, but I got a Ouai leave in conditioner spray, and fell in love with the fresh, playful may rose + aquatic + patchouli scent combo! It's signature scent worthy for clean, effortlessly beautiful, old money girls with fabulous hair. The may rose & bergamot/lemon are the most noticeable notes, with a natural patchouli for a scent trail. It's that clean, natural patchouli scent trail which caught me & reeled me in. Indeed it reminds me of Oribe's "Valley of Flowers", but less linear. The patchouli here adds depth and complexity, not appearing until about 4-5 hours, after the juicy and fresh top notes slowly fade away. Instead of "Côte d'Azure" I always wished Oribe would've used Valley of Flowers to scent (at least some of) their products. Anyway, Ouai offers this- a whole selection of quality fragrances for their hair care. Not just one standard scent (which I think is pretty cool). I have been using Oribe shampoos, conditioners, and styling products for years. And while I still do prefer Oribe for hair care, I bought a bottle of this perfume because the fragrance truly is something special. North Bondi has a "well put together", uplifting, and nostalgic vibe. Plus, it's a great value at just $70 for a full bottle (I've grown accustomed to parting with upwards of $300-500 dollars each new fragrance purchase). Oaui North Bondi comes in solid keepsake packaging, with a magnetic cap and a bottle shape & style reflective of its contents. The juice is light violet in color. The sprayer is an elite misting mechanism, reserved for more high end brands. One of the best fragrance purchases I've made in a couple of months. What a nice surprise- now my spring/summer go-to, easy-reach is sorted. 🤍

North Bondi is really beautiful! I started using the ouai hair products years ago and I showed them to my mother, we both always loved the smell. So one year I got her a full bottle of North Bondi and she loved it! I have since stolen the bottle and made it my own as she has lots of others she uses more lol this perfume reminds me of better times in life because I was wearing this in junior and senior year of high school. It is extremely fresh and crisp smelling especially within the first 10-15 minutes, also quite strong to me. It does die down in projection tho after several hours which to me isn’t necessarily a bad thing. I like unisex scents, this one can work on a lot of people. This fragrance makes me feel super super clean like I just got out of the shower. Like clean as a little baby lol the best time to apply this is when you just take a shower and apply lotion or a body oil. This is a beautiful spring morning fragrance. It smells amazing outside with the smells of nature. It’s a clean, fresh, crisp, zingy, bright, youthful, happy perfume. That being said tho, I don’t wear this very often. I have a ton of full bottles so I’m always reaching for other things. But when I do pull this out it does make me really happy.

North Bondi is the quintessential "Fresh out of the shower" scent. The apple blossom in the opening offers a soft, fresh floral feel while the bergamot provides a beautiful sparkle that makes you feel refreshed, alive, and awake. The heart of the perfume is a powdery floral, but there is a "fresh" element that lasts throughout the entire duration of wear that is just so comforting. The musk and sandalwood in the dry down are definitely there, but mostly in the background. This is a fresh and clean floral with powdery undertones through and through. I can see why someone would interpret this as "citrus" but I don't find that to be the main vibe. Like most of Ouai's scents, this perfume SCREAMS clean girl aesthetic. But there is also a bit of a edgy, cool-girl vibe to this as well. The projection and sileage are decent, but the longevity is just average. You'll get a solid two to three hours - as expected. But you really can't beat $64. This is the perfect affordable fresh and clean perfume range. Overall, you can't really go wrong here, it's totally inoffensive. For the price, this is a 10/10 for me. The perfect everyday perfume!

This perfume smells like you've jumped out of the salon with freshly washed and styled hair. In the best way. Sooo love this perfume. Scent is calming and gives you this clean vibe. It's definitely citrus floral but both accords not being too overpowering. Very well-balanced. I also get that dessert scent to it. Delicious! As for the longevity, this stays on my skin for more than 8 hours! Putting on body oil or lotion will surely help. I can still smell it on myself even the next morning. Make sure you spray a bit on your hair as well. Also tried it with JHG Not a Perfume cause I read VinnieVie's comment about layering them, and omg, smells soooo good. It comes off more musky and woody but still sweet and floral. Definitely made the scent last longer as well. This is probably my favorite from the Ouai collection! I had Dean Street first but ever since I got this, wore this for 1 week straight. Love love love this.

This is SO good! I imagine this as the "purple girl" of Ouai, opposed to say Melrose Place being the "pink girl"! Its lasting power on me is amazing, the musk in this is so lovely as well!!!! So weird - i get very little patchouli in this, while other sense it incredibly! Noses are so funny lol! This perfume is one of few I can say i smell a nice even amount of all top, middle, and base notes. This IMO is better than Melrose, however, i am the purple over pink type haha! I find this layers lovely with Sol De Janiero After Hours body mist - extra jasmine, but adding some amber and black currant depth in there - great combo and also North Bondi is phenomenal on its own!

Just picked up a sample of this from Sephora. At first sniff it reminds me a little of mosquito repellent - but not in a bad way. Actually its very similar to Jour D'Hermes - tho North Bondi is much more feminine. Once it settles down it's warm and intriguing. Slightly citrusy, slightly woodsy, and again, quite feminine. It seriously lasts forever, too. One spritz on my inner elbow and it stayed thru bedtime and all the next day until I showered again about 18 hours later. I don't know if it's my skin in particular that loves this perfume but maaaan, does it smell good!

This smells EXACTLY like my beloved Air di Gioia by Giorgio Armani that has recently been discontinued. Not only does this smell identical to me but it’s much more affordable and the performance is the same I’m so glad I discovered this. It has a unisex crisp fresh clean smell that reminds me of salty sea air and the ocean this fragrance performs amazing in the heat and really comes alive but surprisingly is great in cooler weather too. LOVE IT!! I will purchase again

It's classy. I don't go for North Bondi very often but when I do I feel good about myself. The reason I don't use it too much is because even though it's a freshy, it's not your typical "light" freshy. It's more of a night time, heavy one. There's something in this scent that gives it an expensive feel. A trip to Northern Italy. A shopping day in Milan. A fashion show. A glass of wine on a balcony with a stunning view. Something like that. Zesty, delicious, elegant.

thehazysea did nail this! It totally smells like the sheets of magazine paper that have the ends folded over with adhesive and perfume. Non descript, just general sweetness. This isn’t a ground breaking fragrance, but it’s super fresh, crisp, relatively inexpensive, decent longevity. And come on...the magnetized cap? It’s taken up many a night sitting here clicking it on sitting on my couch...pull it off..snap it on... #covidboredom

Yes, it smells like magazine fragrance sample pages! No, it smells nothing like Aventus for Her. It is strong and long lasting so don't go wild. It is warm-weather friendly and crisp. It's not particularly unique but I like that it is isn't fruity sweet. North Bondi is good for casual wear and work, and reasonably priced. I like Ouai and Jen Atkins and am happy to support this brand.

This reminds me of I think it was “juniper breeze” from the 90s. It’s fresh, floral and tart. I mix this will vanilla to warm it up and with glossier you to give it more strength. I was surprised how much I like it being a haircare product perfume but after I tested it a few times at Ulta I knew it had to have a place in my collection.

Beautiful and simple. I get a fresh, almost powdery hair conditioner type of smell . Some light florals thrown in there, but I mainly get this fresh, slightly powdery with a clean musk and some sweetness . It’s signature scent worthy. It’s nice that’s it’s a clean scent because I’m trying to keep my fragrances clean around my infant.

THE clean girl perfume. I love it but I wish it actually lasted :( I get barely any longevity but I have a travel size as well for a refresher. I LOVE this smell and there is nothing I have found like it but it just does not last at all. If anyone does know something similar that would be so great.

Just got a sample of this and I must say it’s nicer than I expected, I like it more than I expected, it’s lighter and softer than I expected. I’ve only been wearing it a short little while so I would say that my opinion could change, but for now I enjoy this.

Love, love, love. Was using their leave in conditioner and found out they had a perfume in the same scent. Say less! Soft, clean and fresh. It's always my go to when I don't know what else to wear.

I layer this with Juliette Has A Gun Not A Perfume and OH MY GOD I get complimented on this combo at least 3 times a day whenever I wear it. I'm a Virgo with an Aries rising for reference.

I'm obsessed! It smells like a lemon dessert.🍋 It is very well blended. Its both cozy and bright in the same time. A bit musky/powdery but not overwhelmingly so.

I love Ouai’s hair products, and North Bondi is the fragrance of both the leave-in conditioner and the wave spray. Obviously, the EdP gives a much stronger hit than the hair products, and a little goes a very long way (or, indeed, Ouai). Though it’s not the least expensive perfume, it’s not too pricey, either, so its strength per spritz makes it an economical choice. My travel size bottle has lasted forever! It is quite a bitter opening; but about 30 minutes into the dry-down, it softens into a lovely clean scent, but a complex one. It’s not a linear fragrance; for me the citrus, patchouli and wood dominate the opening, and through the dry-down the floral (especially apple blossom) and musk notes break through to soften it. Both friedrice411 and VinnieVie mention below how well North Bondi layers with JHaG Not a Perfume, and I couldn’t agree more! One of my favourite uses of North Bondi is spritzing once in my hair to enhance the fragrance of the Ouai products already in there, and I also like to add a spritz of Not a Perfume on top of it a few minutes later. My goodness, the whiffs of that combo I get when I turn my head or move my hair through the day are heavenly. The combo is also gorgeous on skin; I like to sandwich one spray each of NaP, NB and NaP again. I had to support the vote above that there’s a similarity between Philosophy Pure Grace and Ouai North Bondi. It’s far from a dupe situation; Pure Grace’s signature soapiness is not present in North Bondi (at least to my nose), but beyond that, they definitely have a cold, crisp and pleasant cleanliness in common.

The rose in North Bondi is a little sharp - that could be from the lemon or the bergamot, both notes that are not favorites of mine. When I first tested this fragrance out, I immediately didn't like it. I thought it was overall sharp and harsh when I would have preferred something a little more soft and pleasant. However, the more I tried my sample out the more I grew to like this fragrance. Twice in fact, I was specifically in the mood for North Bondi. I don't think I will actually purchase a bottle, or even the travel spray, because I have such a large collection and a few other fragrances that I can reach for when I desire a more soapy/shampoo type of fragrance. I don't think this is a safe blind buy as I would have bet money that I would have loved it based on most of the notes. However, as a break from the traditional type of fragrances I enjoy, North Bondi is overall nice and relatively affordable.

Wasn’t my favorite at first smell, but I found it for a great price at a thrift store so I thought it was worth a try. It wears great on me for some reason, even though I still don’t love its smell in the bottle. In the bottle it smells strongly of rose and almost is a bit old-ladyish to me. But for whatever reason it warms up on me beautifully. The silliage is great, I get a ton of compliments from strangers just passing me by. I can often smell this on my clothes days later, so it’s quite long lasting. My partner love loves this one on me and that’s the main reason I bought it again when I ran out. Men in general seem to compliment this one more. The jasmine notes and the citrus come through for me when it dries down, giving it a very clean/fresh/floral feel to me. I recommend sampling it on your skin if possible to see, body chemistry seems to make a big difference with how this one wears.

The first time I smelled the Ouai wave spray I fell in love with the North Bondi scent. It’s super bright and clean smelling, like that girl you know who always smells great and freshly showered. I can see why people call it “screechy”. At first spray before the alcohol dissipates it does smell vaguely like hairspray (the best smelling hairspray you ever used), but it warms up a lot on the dry down and the sandalwood comes out a lot for me. I don’t think I’ll ever not love this scent. I like to layer it with Goddess Nyx perfume oil from Paranormal Perfumes (Black Rose, Ylang-Ylang, Vanilla Absolute, Black Amber, Plum, Patchouli, Peppercorn, Bergamot, Vetiver) which smells very similar to me but deeper, richer, and softer; the combo is amazing.

Received my sample today. This does NOT smell anything like Chanel coco Mademoiselle Or Miss Dior. It smells very similar to Versace Yellow Diamond, Lancome Idole & a bunch of other fragrances that I’ve smelled before. It’s a bright citrus clean floral, I get a lot of lemon, Rose & musk. Definitely a spring/summer scent. I can see this being worn to work, school, shopping or even a night out, it’s inoffensive & simple. You’ll be smelling clean with a hint of fresh roses. The con is that it’s nothing special, projection is very weak, more of close to skin scent, you have to literally put your nose to where you sprayed to smell it & still testing longevity. I like it, but I have too many in my collection that smell similar, it’s a pass for me.

This really should get more credit! It is such an easy to wear scent and perfect for summer when I'm taking a break from my heavier scents. Much prefer this to Melrose Place which is too soapy for me. This is much fresher and wearable. Not cheap smelling in my opinion nor does it resemble cleaning products etc, unlike some of the reviews below. I think people just have super high expectations, but it literally smells like the haircare line of Ouai and that's its selling point. Groundbreaking? Of course not. But I find I *need* a fragrance like this in my collection as a 'chuck it on' scent when I'm not really in the mood for anything more complex. I always get a compliment while wearing this!

I used to have this perfume. When I first bought it, I loved it. It smelled clean, sparkling, slightly sweet and also powdery. I would say, a very classy scent. THEN, within months, this perfume turned into only pencil shavings! All the other notes that made this fragrance beautiful, completely disappeared! I was only able to smell that horrendous sandalwood/patchouli pencil shaving note, and the scent was completely ruined. I have no idea what happened! This perfume was stored perfectly fine; the way I keep all my perfumes that I have had for years. Such a shame that the ingredients in this one are so unstable, and for the price point, there's no justification to that.

I originally bought this perfume because I loved the smell of the leave in conditioner by Ouai, and was always getting compliments on how good my hair smelled. So when I found out they sold that scent in a perfume I had to get it. I only bought the 10ml to try it out on my skin, and at first spray all I got was lemon. Smelled like straight up lemon cleaner. But as time goes on and it warms up on the skin the woodiness starts to come out on me and I really enjoy it. It’s a perfect just out of the shower scent to wear around the house or running errands. It’s nothing special to be honest so I won’t repurchase, but I’ll enjoy it while I have it!

This is not my usual fragrance style (typically I go sugar-sweet fruity, vanilla, or spicy) but I do appreciate a soft, youthful floral like Devil Tender by Ex Nihilo, and the scent of Matrix's rose hair products. This is a soft lemon floral like the wave spray/leave-in. I would not have tried it if my stylist had not used the products on me. I loved the OUAI shampoo/conditioner scent as well (Mercer Street = orange! yasss). North Bondi mingled so well I could not stop sniffing my hair all day. I wish Mercer Street still had the EDP available, as I would layer them. It's a like . I can't wait to try Melrose Place!

I am sooo confused with this fragrance. When I had first bought it, it smelled beautiful. I got powdery florals with a sweet citrus note and very light woods. Shortly after buying it, and using it, I noticed the scent was changing drastically. Now all I smell is sweet pencil shavings. This scent turned into a straight up wood scent, which I hate. I literally can't smell any of the other notes anymore. I have no idea if I got a bad batch or that's just how North Bondi is supposed to smell. Not sure if it develops into this horrible wood scent or if my bottle has gone bad within a very short time frame. ☹️

I purchased this fragrance to use as a hair perfume. It’s very fresh and light, reminds me of iced floral lemonade, so it would be nice for the summer. I enjoyed the opening of the scent, but the dry down was an uneventful jasmine. It started to give bath and body works. I received compliments while it was still fresh in my hair, it lasted for hours, but it’s a “like,” not a “love” for me. I just think it smells a bit cheap and linear for me. The scent lacks in depth, I enjoy the musk that comes thru in the opening, but it fades to a generic drugstore conditioner scent.

I love the smell of ouai's wave spray, and this is the same scent as that so I blind bought it. This is truly a fresh out of the shower scent for me, very clean, like squeaky clean. I personally didn't get the screechy repellent smell that others did, it wears down nice on my skin. I mainly wear this around the house and during the summer every once in a while. Don't know if I'll repurchase though, I like my hair to smell like this, but all over the body I'm just not sure.. for me, ouai's melrose place knocks this out of the water when it comes to clean scents any day.

I love love this perfume. My problem with it is that it doesn’t really last. As far as the scent goes, it is florally and fresh but also has a subtle sultry hot summer kind of vibe. It’s definitely floral forward, but there’s this hint of a warm summer night somewhere in the low notes. Somehow it still smells very clean and daytime ready. It blends so beautifully with my chemistry but it just doesn’t last that long. I like that the silage isn’t super intense but I’d spray less if that meant it would last longer!

got a travel size of this impulsively after running low on Melrose Place, and don't regret adding this freshie to my collection! I smell the lemon and raspberry most prominently, followed by rose, musk, and sandalwood. feels very well balanced and refreshing, great for spring and summer, but can't picture picking it up during colder months. definitely agree that it smells just like shampoo, but in that sense I find it to be perfect for post-shower to add a little extra clean scent boost.

On me, this is a mainly lemon rose scent with a patchouli base. The other notes play a supporting role and I have a hard time picking them out. I'm glad the jasmine doesn't turn the scent sour on my skin like many white florals do with my skin chemistry. It's not the most unique or complex but would be a nice late spring/early summer scent. Someone says it smells like perfume samples from a magazine and I can't disagree with that but I don't find it a bad thing.

Airy, neutral, barely there citrus type a fragrance. It stays close to skin, daytime, comfortable wear. Unisex. Very light, watered down scent, however I smell it on my clothes the next day. Stays constant, clean, crisp and fresh. Excellent choice for hot summer days, after gym, or when you just want something non-irritating. I keep it in my car, that tells you something. Just spray it on when you do not want to get too crazy, but rather want to be refreshed.

If you sample this in Sephora, I recommend taking the test strip outside to smell it. I tried it in store on a day when there were a lot of other scents being sprayed in the store and really didn't liked it. Later, I tried it again at home and really like it. The patchouli in the dry down does make it more mature but its a very wearable, inoffensive scent. Agree with other commenters that this is just a clean, pleasant, everyday fragrance. Great value too.

I purchased a travel spray after having used an liked the leave in conditioner. The leave in is too strong to wear any other scent with, so I figured I'd lean in. I didn't like the scent of the conditioner originally, but it grew on me. Maybe I'm too influenced by the name, but I do think "beach" when i smell it. Not literal beach, but it smells like the kind of girl who spends a lot of time at the beach. It smells confident.

smells quite clean and refreshing, like a unique, fancy citrus floral shampoo. however, i'm very disappointed in the performance, as the projection is subpar and the longevity is terrible on me. i even layered it with a scented lotion and perfume oil and could barely smell anything after 2-3 hours. i'm still a fan of this scent but will probably not be repurchasing because it just doesn't last on me (╥_╥)

Smells like shampoo, which is why I bought it. I loved the smell of the shampoo someone gave me more than the shampoo itself. There's nothing out of the ordinary with this fragrance. It's just a fresh, clean shower scent, but it does that well. I don't reach for it super often, but sometimes it just hits so good after a post workout shower. Great for when you really want to feel clean and refreshed.

Received this for X-Mas and tried it out today. Looking at the notes, I cannot detect them singularly tbh, except maybe the Raspberry and a bit of the Violet. This smells just like Shampoo on me for some reason. Which is fine, I like it, but it's perplexing that I detect none of the other notes at all. It is a clean scent that I think I'll enjoy more during the heat of Summer.

I liked this one more than I expected to. It kind of reminds me of bubble bath from replica, but I like this one a lot more. It's soapy and clean and pretty unisex. Definitely a fresh out the shower scent but the longevity could be better. It lasted 3ish hours on my skin. Update: I smelled it a second time thinking I'd buy it, but it really does smell like hairspray.

I really enjoy this scent. The smell is very fresh and clean. It is my favorite to wear on hair wash days where I use a mask by OUAI that leaves a strong scent. The two blend nicely together and I spend the day walking around smelling like a fresh shower. My only con is that it isn't a super interesting scent, so I don't feel myself wanting to wear it everyday.

Really nice clean scent but quite generic. It’s reminiscent of Lazy Sunday Morning to me, but a much better price. It’s pretty and I’ve been getting lots of compliments wearing it, and lasts about 4-6 hours on my skin. The sandalwood is pretty as it gives it some dimension as it settles. Overall I think this is pretty, lasts well, and is reasonably priced.

Whenever I wear this people say I smell nice. Someone told me it smells like bubblegum and another person said it reminds them of snow fairy from lush. I had hoped for a more clean and floral smell than sugary and sweet but I get compliments so it’ll get used up even though it’s not what I expected. That said it’s much less sweet than Melrose place IMO.

This reminds me of Lazy Sunday morning by Replica. Obviously some differences. This is a very bright, almost bitter fruit scent along equally paired with floral notes. Very clean and very easy to wear on any occasion. I think you could wear this year-round but some people might think it’s only a summer scent due to the fruits and florals.

Updating my previous review. Now that I'm wearing it in the Summer's heat, it's just lovely. The Apple Blossom is much more prominent, which I love as it's one of my favorite notes. Opens with Fresh Citrus and Apple Blossom with Clean Musk and Floral Notes @ the drydown. A really nice Summer frag that gives a clean and fresh vibe.

Have Ouai perfumes lost their Clean at Sephora green checkmark? It's supposedly a "clean fragrance", but no longer is showing up as a clean fragrance. Very nice fragrance but cannot get any information on actual ingredients. Ouai claims their hair care products are clean but they do not comment on their perfumes.

It’s nice. Definitely very fresh and bright, but somehow a little too sharp and aldehyde-y for me. It’s giving more dryer sheet than expensive shampoo. They dry down is quite nice, but I don’t want to wait through two hours of yikes that’s strong to get there. It would probably make a good post-gym scent.

I wasn't expecting such an inexpensive perfume to be so powerful! It's a nice scent, but it reminds me of magazines and that smell of all those perfume samples blended together. I think I would like it more if it wasn't so strong, so I'll just stick to using the OUAI wave spray instead.

I'm getting a lot of apple blossom and bergamot! It's tart and powdery and sweet, with an element like dusty crabapples. That doesn't sound appealing, but it is. Sort of clean and shampoo-y-- it's pleasant, but nothing special. Lasts on skin about 3 hours and clothing a few hours more.
