Fumo Dolce

A very rich, sweet and pungent fragrance. This one is definitely not for those who don’t like animalics, although this is less skanky in the more traditional way and more like the type of animatic edge you get from the honey in Absolue pour le soir. That seems to be a combination of the our (which is admittedly pretty skanky in the opening although it does settle), vanilla and oppoponax, with the labdanum providing a smooth rich layer that it sits on. Despite reminding me of APLS, this has more bite and is a lot woodier, which manages to mostly offset what would otherwise be cloying sweetness. It feels like it was designed to leave a trail rather than project a cloud, and wearing it is a thick, dense experience. It has good longevity, but for a lot of that it feels like it sits relatively close, hovering above the skin as if threatening to become a skin scent but never quite doing so until it’s almost gone. This is more of a like than a love for me, and I don’t reach for it as much as many others in the collection, but I’m very glad I own it and really enjoy wearing it when the mood or occasion takes me.

This is without doubt the crown jewel of the Oud Factory collection. One of the best fragrances I have ever had the privilege of wearing. If you thought Roja Dove, By Kilian or even Xerjoff produced the highest quality oud fragrances, think again. Do yourself a favour and try this work of absolute perfection. This is an aoudy, amber, chocolate masterpiece. Very very highly recommended. The owners of the company are also some of the finest gentleman I have ever met.
