Iconique 001 is from 2021 and is part of the O.U.i fragrances aimed at reaching the male audience. The creative concept revolves around the figure of the Parisian man who observes everything around him while drinking his coffee sitting at a table at Le Jules Verne, a restaurant on the second floor of the Eiffel Tower. For the perfumer, this man is generous with others and carries nobility in his soul. And because it is iconic, representing one in a million, the perfume received this name. Iconique 001's fragrance is classified as oriental and brings notes of ginger and cardamom, in the output; Lavender, coffee, and brown sugar, in the body; Tonka bean, patchouli, and sandalwood, in the base. The masculine bottles gained a much simpler design when compared to the female line. Commercially, this is justifiable, as the male consumer still shows a dislike for very fancy bottles or ones based on objects from their universe. And as the brand has international production, it also sells in France and is guided by Haute Perfumery, cleaner visual standards tend to please more easily. In the case of Iconique 001, the gradient of the bottle reveals a warm color, totally related to the olfactory family of the fragrance inside. By the way, Nathalie Lorson has a good relationship with fragrances of this style that, at times, are reinforced by spices, leathery accords, or woods, as is the case of Bentley for Men Intense, Jimmy Choo Man Blue, Autoportrait, among others. That said, Iconique 001 is, without a doubt, the fragrance with the biggest nocturnal/sensual/romantic profile, among the others that have been launched for the male audience so far. In other words, it is sweeter, combines very well with cold weather, and appeals to the dancefloor/ballad audience. On my skin, Iconique 001 opens with the scent of chocolate cream and ginger (a kind of citrusy Gianduia), which is used in Italian desserts and has been gaining fame in other countries, whether in the preparation of confections or truffles. This combination was delicious, and, to my delight, it didn't bring an unnecessary mint note, since the cardamom already delivers a fresher and more aromatic side. It doesn't take long for the mixture of sage and lavender, present in the L'Essence de Grasse accord, to be noticed. Even so, such notes do not cover the “vanilla latte” effect that insistently exudes during most of the evolution. It's not like the aroma of cappuccino, always accompanied by cinnamon. Here, the hot drink has been sprinkled with brown sugar, with its smell closer to cane molasses. Finally, comes the creamy and vanilla base, with lots of sandalwood and tonka bean. The patchouli reinforces the entire chocolatey complex of the fragrance, but I don't know if I would miss it if it wasn't present, because what I really feel is the tonka bean with its almond nuances. Iconique 001 does not innovate, it follows the same path pioneered by fragrances such as A*Men and its numerous flankers, but it shows quality and complements the initial offer of men's fragrances from the O.U.i by filling the Orientals column.

Great perfume. Nathalie Lorson hits another home-run for fragrances with a prominent coffee (the other is Close To Midnight, more feminine leaning). Iconique 001 is supremely wearable, a mainstream tonka/patch/sandalwood base finessed by sweet coffee and burst of fresh spices. The coffee note is so well blended and noticable as it combines with brown sugar for a rich, toffee gourmand sort of coffee. It's strong, masculine leaning and sort of how I imagine a niche version of Halloween Man or Polo Red would smell. Probably one of the most under the radar releases in terms of coffee frags.
