Madeleine 862

Possibly one of my best perfumes! This always gets me so many compliments wherever I go, it’s perfect for the summer and it’s a very unique smell. This is a very delicate fragrance, and a must in every perfume-lovers collection!

Senti o cheiro do Liz assim que a moça borrifou no meu braço, e eu fiz com cara de desgosto é igual ao Liz, a vendedora "sim todo mundo ama". Eu: todo mundo vírgula, eu não suporto. A coitada ficou até triste. Assim como o Liz me deu uma dor de cabeça terrível, tem alguma nota nos dois perfumes que eu ainda não consegui identificar que incomoda meu nariz e me dá uma enxaqueca tenebrosa.

All female fragrances by this brand are a complete disaster. I had high hopes to find a sophisticated Brazilian based niche perfumery, and OUI is as far as it gets to this idea. Pure aldehydes and fruit, unwearable. Smells cheap. Don’t blind buy this unless you wanna keep the bottle.

Madeleine 862 is from 2021 and is part of the O.U.i fragrances aimed at the female audience. The creative concept addresses the tradition of Parisian tea houses, whose history is directly linked to the Ladurée family, as it was Louis Ernest Ladurée who opened his first bakery in Paris, located at 16 Rue Royale, in 1862. Famous for its macarons, it was a spiced tea served with madeleines that inspired the perfumer to create this fragrance, which brings together notes of pink pepper and raspberry at the top; Tuberose and rum, in the body; Sandalwood, vanilla, and white musk, in the base. That said, it is easier to understand the reason for its name, which was added to the opening date of the famous Ladurré Paris. Madeleine 862 works as a Parisian, gourmand, and addictive dessert that mixes the alcoholic flavor of Baba au Rhum (cake soaked in rum and accompanied by whipped cream or pastry cream) with the narcotic delicacy of tuberose. But the result, although very appetizing, does not match the name and inspiration of the perfume. And this is a negative point because it ends up generating frustration in those who buy blindly. The explanation is simple: the traditional madeleine has a citrus smell and taste, as it uses orange and lemon in the recipe. The Madeleine 862 fragrance, in turn, has a fruity start and sweet evolution, with a lot of raspberry and vanilla in the background, exploding on the skin like a fruity candy with a bittersweet aspect and drying like whipped cream. On my skin, the fragrance of Madeleine 862 proves to be challenging, especially as soon as it is sprayed. The output brings a sweet and curious side, with nuances reminiscent of honey and an accord of dried red fruits. The insistent scent of flambé syrup is delicious and not too feminine. The problem, for me, is that evolution loses a lot of this unusual side and ends up revealing a floral and cloying fragrance, which only works on days with low temperatures. Not to mention that it becomes extremely feminine, as it dries, and disappoints those who believed in love at first sight. Is it true that it smells like Liz from O Boticário? Yes, but only after a few hours. If worn side by side, both make their differences clear, the latter being much lighter, fruitier, and with slower evolution. Madeleine 862 has a denser, creamier, and alcoholic fragrance. However, at a certain moment, both smell like a whipped cream of red fruits applied on a bed of meringues. The performance is very good, the output is intoxicating, but the story is lost in the drying process. It started with a “wow” but ended with a “humph”.

I have got 5ml samples of their 4 female scents. Madeleine is fruity (red berries) + maybe some jasmine or other white flowers and ethil maltol. Not bad at all, just not worth 1/3 of a minimum wage in Brazil for 75ml. It's goodz actually, but you can smell this good (or even better) with a body mist aimed at teenagers.
