UPDATE 10/11/2024 The key for this perfume has been to just let it sit and marinate for a few months! All the sharp edges have mellowed out, it's still got a wine-forward nose but it's so warm and pleasant now. I think it's going to be what I'm spritzing for the first few months of fall. ____ Wow! OML Red does what some other indie perfumers that I love do—which is take a very specific time-place-scene and bottle it. Red instantly transports me to a midwest winery on a sunny fall evening. I won't lie and say I loved this from first spritz. The wine note REALLY punches you in the face when you first spray. As does the hay. Which is a super unique note to include, but it really does exude the "harvest" vibe the perfume is going for. I sprayed when I first got the bottle and was pretty overwhelmed, worried it'd be a scrubber. It really started to shine on my skin when it settled. The wine and hay backed off and the sweeter raspberry and rose came in, and the oak, hazelnut and pink pepper warmed everything beautifully. Like your wine has been aerated and warmed through and there's a breeze carrying the smell of flowers in. (Very wax poetic, I know, but it's the most literal way I can describe it haha). I like to spritz into the air and step into it, as a direct spritz onto my skin is a bit too much for me some days. A great late summer-fall fragrance. The sillage is quite strong, and the longevity is too. It makes me want to try some of the other scents like Aquamarine and Indigo!
