Moon Dust

This is my favorite Ourside scent (Moon Dust) it’s very sexy, but subtle. To me it smells of baby powder (in the best way) with a hint of musk. When I wear this, it last all day and I have gotten asked what I’m wearing when I go out. I just love, love this scent and recommend it to anyone. I’m happy to have this scent in my collection and will continue to repurchase. ❤️

This fragrance is really unique! I love how this scent is unlike anything else that I usually go for. I personally love that its unisex because both my husband and I could use this fragrance. I enjoy floral, clean, and masculine scents and I feel that this fragrance incorporates all these elements in the best way!

As a natural perfumery appreciator, I admit that even I get sniffy about the sheer number of independent natural perfumers currently flooding the market. At first blush, Aspen Apothecary's vaguely boho, generically socially-conscious branding doesn't set them apart. But my, Moon Dust is heavenly. It's a seamless melange of earthy and woody and brightly herbal. The prominent anise reads closer to fennel since it's in its green, vegetal form rather than dry and spicy. The mint and lemon feel similarly freshly-picked. I also get juniper and grounding palo santo. The result is like some kind of soap made by woodland spirits to purify their worshipers before an ancient, joyful ritual. To my nose, this is the kind of composition towards which more fresh, soapy scents should aspire. Looking at their website, it's not clear if they're in the process of rebranding or quietly closing or what, but if the brand survives, I think it is absolutely worth checking out. Edit: Aspen Apothecary has rebranded as Ourside, and while I can't confirm that this is the exact same formulation, the notes have not changed.

Of the three perfumes offered by Ourside, this one is firmly in the middle for me. It is not anything mind blowing or unique, but it still a beautiful, grounding, fresh, green citrus scent. It’s very soapy and would do well as an after-shower scent. I love how clean it makes me feel! I do not think I will buy a full size bottle but I don’t have anything bad to say about it!

You can tell that it's well-blended and uses high-quality ingredients. For me, I'm not a fan of the overall scent profile. It does open with a great burst of grapefruit. But I think it's the vetiver and anise that are throwing me. I'm not a vetiver fan as I think it can smell a little funky, so take that into consideration. I'd say it's worth checking out if you like the notes because it's a good product--just not for my taste.
