Clean Matcha

What a beautiful tea scent. I’m not even sure where to start because it’s so layered, and it doesn’t smell like the usual tea perfumes at all. The matcha is there, but it’s diffused through warm milk, a pastel green colour. There’s sweetness, but it never overpowers anything, it’s like stirring brown sugar into matcha, adding a touch of vanilla syrup, and then using that mixture to create the softest marshmallow. I can also detect the sea salt, just a hint, giving the fragrance balance and this slightly savory, skin-like softness. It keeps everything from becoming too sweet and makes the whole composition feel more real, more textured. This scent is serene. It feels like spending the night in an ancient ryokan in Kyoto, stepping out of a warm bath, slipping into a delicate kimono, and sipping a freshly whisked cup of matcha in the quiet of the evening. Enchanting.

I’m honestly surprised by how much I love it. I was really hesitant at first to get the sample because I’m not a fan of herbal or super green perfumes. Most matcha scents I’ve tried were sharp, grassy, and almost too “tea shop” for me. But this one? Totally different. Its cozy, comforting, and cocooning. Instead of that harsh green note, it has this soft, creamy vibe that makes it feel warm rather than sharp. There’s even a subtle sweet mochi-like scent in the background that makes it feel edible in the nicest way. It's not sugary, just gently sweet and super comforting. It still smells like matcha, but in the softest, most wearable way. Honestly, if you’re usually scared of green or herbal fragrances (like I was), this one might surprise you. It’s calm, smooth, cozy, and just really pleasant to wear. I’m actually obsessed.

For me, this is the best rendition of a matcha green tea fragrance. Every other one in my collection leans on citrus or watery notes to evoke that crisp clarity of tea steeped in fresh water but Clean Matcha doesn’t, and that’s what makes it incredible. You can barely detect the earthy side of matcha, yet the scent completely captures the feeling of drinking it. There’s a glossy, almost creamy texture, just slightly sweet, but never too much. On the skin, it develops beautifully throughout the day, like the softest white marshmallow gently floating on frothed matcha. This is my first Overose perfume, and I’m honestly so impressed, from the scent itself to the bottle, which is absolutely stunning and feels decadently crafted.

obsessed with clean matcha right now, I’ve been wearing it nonstop and my bottle is already half gone. It’s like the matcha milk marshmallow scent that I always wanted. So soft, sweet in the cutest way, and still totally unique and fresh but not citrusy and def no earthiness. There’s this little green matcha vibe mixed with an agave sweetness that's just so delectable on the skin. I don’t know what kind of magic overose puts in their perfumes but they all have this dream girl vibe to them that makes me want to collect every single one. Also the bottle is really pretty.

This is a lovely smell though if you're looking for something heavily matcha- scented, this probably isn't the scent for you. It smells sweet and clean but not too sickly sweet. The vanilla comes through but it's dialed back a bit (compared to Clean Vanilla also by this brand) so it's more subtle. It sits close to the skin and the sillage doesn't seem to be huge. It's more like a musky vanilla-y sweet scent than a tea or matcha scent. But it's very nice.

A lighter version of Ariana pink woods on my skin, tested side by side. Over time this definitely does develop a more milky matcha vibe and is able to be differentiated from PW, however I prefer PW because it is close enough, and also stronger, vs CM I really have to have my nose in my wrist to smell. 3/9/26- ehhh I'll eat my words. I want a full bottle of this lol. Every time I've used my sample I love it more and more. Still not what I would say matcha smells like but I like it, has that kind of weird sweet burnt smell that pink sugar has but this isnt as bad or heavy, l'm a sucker for the nostalgic feel of this and will scoop a bottle of it when the brand has a sale.

This fragrance heavily reminds me of clean reserve skin intense. Sweet, soft’ musky, and slightly powdery but not like that floral powder. You know that powder sugar that lingers on a marshmallow to keep them from sticking together? Yeah that. I don’t get much of the matcha but it’s there and very faint and I actually love that. Soft earthiness and I’ve never smell a fragrance like that. I do get some creaminess from that milk note. Gives clean aesthetic. Perfect for bedtime, a day at home, and the gym.

Overose describes this scent as a matcha scent with vanilla mochi note, and this is one of those rare times that I actually think it's accurate? I'm honestly pleasantly surprised by this. When I smell this it just reminds me of freshly made matcha mochi, and as you're picking it up to eat you can feel the powdery starch on your hands, that's exactly what it smells like to me. It's comforting, cozy, and soft gourmand, my favorite category of gourmand!

This is such a hidden gem. Very unique. Clean but with a sweet twist. Think of the most delicious, fluffy vanilla mochi enjoyed with a sweetened, creamy, glossy, milky matcha latte. Served to you in a freshly made bed of the cleanest, luxury linen sheets. This isn't the green, earthy TRUE matcha alot of other tea fragrances feature. It's a sweet fantasy matcha that has an almost white chocolate feel.

This is gorgeous, intimate, just got a full bottle. Kinda wish the longetivity and performance were better. It’s creamy, slightly gourmand sweet skin-scent that pairs great with other skin scents. Love iiit.
